• How do I preserve installed applications when migrating Ubuntu to another platform?

  I'm looking at maybe moving from an older AMD64 to a new Intel dual-core which is 32 bit. Installation isn't a problem but can I transfer all the installed apps? I haven't been able to find anything so far on Google except where the migration is to a similar platform and file-system. I won't change the filesystem but the platform will be different. Is there something on the lines of the "World" file in Gentoo?

  Hi I am trying to create a app that uses the msg.exe to send messages over a network. When i execute msg from cmd everything works fine, but when i open cmd with the form i am unable to, went to the system32 folder with cmd and the file is not shown there, but when i browse or use cmd normally it is and evrything works tested it on another computer and app works fine, running win 7 64 bit on this 1. The difficult part here is to validate proper starting and ending parentheses with in the formula. I believe, there would be some sample on the web but I could not find it.   I'm trying to build a basic POP3 mail client in C/++, but I've run into a bit of an issue. Since you have to define the buffer size when building the program, but a message can be arbitrarily large, how do you, say, get the mail server to send it to you in parts? And if this isn't the correct means of solving the problem, what is? And while I'm here, can anyone confirm for me that RFC 2822 is still the current document defining email layout? Thanks

  In Qt 4, by default, tabbing through a dialog changes the default button to be the button tabbed to. This makes tabbing look a bit ugly and distracting as extra redraws take place during tab navigation which distract from point of user focus. With a 32-bit compile, this works: char * p1 = .... char * p3 = ... int delta = p3 - p1; But if I compile for x64 I get a warning: warning C4244: 'initializing' : conversion from '__int64' to 'int', possible loss of data What is the correct type to use, to represent a difference between two pointers, that works in both x86 and x64 compiles?
