• Add rules (filters) to ftp programs to avoid uploading certain files/folders

  i use Filezilla as my ftp client, but this question goes to any other client that could be useful. Can i (in any client) add rules (filters) to an ftp program to avoid upload of certain files or folders? For example: Expression web creates those annoying _vti_cnf folders, or, certain folders in which i have the original version of a picture without a watermark that i don't want to upload. Example, i have a folder A, that has sub folders "original" and "current", i would like to add a filter, so every time i select A to be uploaded, "original" wouldn't go, but "current would".

  I saw this bit of code on an old forum post: SSLRequire %{HTTP_HOST} =~ m"\.secure\.powweb\.com" And I was just wondering what the =~ and m" ... " meant. I've been searching online and in the Apache documentation for any mention of the equal-sign tilde operator, but I've found no mention of it. I know that some directives can take a tilde to use a regular expression, but I've never seen the m" ... " form used before. What exactly is that m" ... " for? Where else would you see this form?

• Is the phrase "never reinvent the wheel" suitable for students?

  I find myself constantly running into this expression "don't reinvent the wheel" or "never reinvent the wheel" when I ask some questions on SO. They tell you to use some frameworks or existing packages. I know where this attitude is coming from since it's unwise to waste time on something others have already solved. Or it that so? As a student, I find by using some code others wrote to solve my problem I can't learn as much as I'd like to, and I gain less insight. And sometimes I think that phrase is mainly for working programmers facing deadlines and not for students like me. Is it that bad to "reinvent the wheel"? Maybe I'm thinking it wrong? Maybe there is a way I can avoid reinventing the wheel and at the same time learn a lot?

• Mousin' down the PathListBox

  While modifying the standard media player with a new look and feel for Ineta Live I saw a unique opportunity to use their logo with a dotted I with and attached arc as the scrub control. So I created a PathListBox that I wanted an object to follow when a user did a click and drag action.  Below is how I solved the problem.  Please let me know if you have improvements or know of a completely different way.  I am always eager to learn. First, I created a path using the pen tool in Expression Blend (see the yellow line in image below).  Then I right clicked that path and chose [Path] --> [Make Layout Path].   That created a new PathListBox.  Then I chose the object I want to move down the new PathListBox and Placed it as a child in the Objects and Timeline window (see image below).  If the child object (the thing the user will click and drag) is XAML, it will move much smoother than images. Just as another side note, I wanted there to be no highlight when the user selects the “ball” to drag and drop.  This is done by editing the ItemContainerStyle under Additional Templates on the PathListBox.  Post a question if you need help on this and I will expand my explanation. Here is a pic of the object and the path I wanted it to follow.  I gave the path a yellow solid brush here so you could see it but when I lay this over another object, I will make the path transparent.   To animate this object down the path, the trick is to animate the Start number for the LayoutPath.  Not the StartItemIndex, the Start above Span. • Can I redirect the HTTP request towards an old folder to the homepage using .htaccess file?

  I have to following situation: I had an old blog that was made using Joomla (this blog was indexed well enough by search engines). For some problems I delete it and I have create it again using WordPress. Now I have many visit (from Google) that leading to specific pages of the old site (pages that don't exist in the new version). For example I have visit to URL as: /scorejava/index.php/corso-spring-mvc/1-test that don't exist on my new site. I would know if using the .htaccess file (or other sistem) I can redirect the HTTP request directed to some subfolder (that don't exist in the new version) to the homepage of my new site. For example I have the request towards the void URL: /scorejava/index.php/corso-spring-mvc/1-test. And I would create a regular expression that say something like: all the request toward the subfolder corso-spring-mvc (and all it's content file and subfolder) have to be redirected to www.scorejava.com. Is it possible?

  I have a bunch of old files prefixed with "old-" (e.g. "old-abcde.php"). I need an htaccess rule to set up a 301 redirect so that any request for a file starting with "old-" goes to its corresponding new version (e.g. "abcde.php"). To be clear, I have many files, not just one, so I can't do a literal filename match. I basically just need to strip off the "old-" from request and redirect to the version without it. I know I probably just need a simple regular expression, but I'm not good at writing them. Can anyone provide assistance?

Below block executes the afterMethod as expected for getUser. &ltaop:pointcut id="aopafterMethod" expression="execution(* UserService.*(..,UserInfo,..))" / &gtaop:after pointcut-ref="aopafterMethod" method="afterMethod" / But when i try to give BaseInfo instead of UserInfo, the aspect is not getting triggered. Am i missing something? Kindly help me on this issue.

  I have a site where users will follow this path (hopefully): mysite.com/entity mysite.com/entity/pay mysite.com/entity/pay/details mysite.com/entity/pay/confirmation mysite.com/entity/pay/payment mysite.com/entity/paymentsuccessful?lotsofuniquestuff The entity section could be any one of a multitude of entries, but once the user is on a journey it will stay consistent. I have a goal set up for this as a regular expression, with the match being .*PaymentSuccessful.*. This detects goal successes perfectly (as checked with data stored by the site directly). I have set the following steps within the goal: /[a-zA-Z0-9]+/pay /[a-zA-Z0-9]+/pay/details /[a-zA-Z0-9]+/pay/confirmation /[a-zA-Z0-9]+/pay/payment My funnel detects entry into the funnel (e.g. 47 users) of which say 10 complete the funnel. However, all drop offs are after the first step, even though the exist page is listed as the second step! My data also suggests users are getting further in the funnel before failing to reach the goal. What have I done wrong?

  Yesterday I did a presentation about Windows CE at the University of Padua Even if the picture seems to suggest that I just showed and empty slide, I illustrated the new features of the OS and did a quick demo of Silverlight for Windows Embedded on Windows Embedded Compact 7 (I’ve to get used to this new name), showing the new tools that provide a better integration between Expression Blend and Visual Studio for the development of Silverlight applications (I hope to be able to write more on this topic soon!). The Operating System was running on some real hardware (TI OMAP3530 evaluation board) and many people had a chance to interact with the new customizable shell. Most of the 60 people attending were still awake at the end of the one hour and a half session, and some of them even asked questions! I would like to thank all the people attending and all the people of Arrow, Fortech Embedded Labs and the University of Padua that made this event possible and provide me the tool and the time to do this presentation. Has this become some de-facto standard?   When I tried searching this I would just get things on equality. When I was reading through some documentation for navigation in Android I had come across something I had never seen before. I came across this: mTitle = mDrawerTitle = getTitle(); It almost looks like something you can do in JavaScript where you can take the first not-null variable and assign it to a variable. In JavaScript I would do this: mTitle = mDrawerTitle || getTitle(); And it would return the first not null, in Java, is this double equals usage the equivalent in Java? I have one outbound route which uses the dial pattern 9|. and the Trunk Zap/1 and one Zap Trunk which uses Zap Identifier (trunk name): 1 and has no Dial Rules. The FXO module is directly connected to our phone line from BT via a BT-RJ11 cable.
