In MS Exam 70-536 .Net Foundation, Chapter 7 "Threading" in Lesson 1 Creating Threads there is a text: Be aware that because the WorkWithParameter method takes an object, Thread.Start could be called with any object instead of the string it expects. Being careful in choosing your starting method for a thread to deal with unknown types is crucial to good threading code.     Hi, i created a scaffolded application in rails by the name of product. BUT WHERE IS THIS VARIABLE PASSED? The funtion inturn calls new.rhtml which contains <% form_for(@product) do |f| % #all form elments declaration <% f.submit "Create" % <%= end % Here @product is initialized in the controller file and passed to this new.rhtml. So where does form_for(@product) gets the data? How does the control gets tranfered to create function in controller file when submit button is clicked? No where action is specified to the controller file. in the create function, wat does redirec_to(@product) specify where @product is an object received from the new.html file... I am very much confused on the basics of ROR. Somone pls help me clarify this. pardon me for making such a big post. I have lots of doubts in this single piece of code

    My iPhone app has the following problem: Freshly installed, when I read out my "Play Sound" preference with the following code: defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; NSLog(@"Play Sounds? %d", [defaults boolForKey:@"play_sounds_preference"]); The setting always reads out as false, even though the default setting is set to true. Any ideas? I am trying to make a string from that includes a preference int. I saved the data and can display the int (just sample code): SharedPreferences prefs=PreferenceManager .getDefaultSharedPreferences(this); list.setText(prefs.getString("list", "22")); now, I have a xml parser that is pulling a url correctly as a static string: public static String feedUrl = String.format("http://www.freshpointmarketing.com/iphone/objects/XML/AND.php?ID=%d", 22); Works great... now my issue......   • Difference between these two functions that find Palindromes....

    I wrote a function to check whether a word is palindrome or not but "unexpectedly", that function failed quite badly, here it is: bool isPalindrome (const string& s){ string reverse = ""; string original = s; for (string_sz i = 0; i != original.size(); ++i){ reverse += original.back(); original.pop_back(); } if (reverse == original) return true; else return false; } It gives me "string iterator offset out of range error" when you pass in a string with only one character and returns true even if we pass in an empty string (although I know its because of the intialisation of the reverse variable) and also when you pass in an unassigned string for example: string input; isPalindrome(input); Later, I found a better function which works as you would expect: bool found(const string& s) { bool found = true; for (string::const_iterator i = s.begin(), j = s.end() - 1; i < j; ++i, --j) { if (*i != *j) found = false; } return found; } Unlike the first function, this function correctly fails when you give it an unassigned string variable or an empty string and works for single characters and such... So, good people of stackoverflow please point out to me why the first function is so bad... Thank You.

    The functionality I'm trying to build allows Users to Visit a Restaurant. I have Users, Locations, and Restaurants models. Locations have many Restaurants. I've created a Visits model with user_id and restaurant_id attributes, and a visits_controller with create and destroy methods. Thing is, I can't create an actual Visit record. Any thoughts on how I can accomplish this? Or am I going about it the wrong way.     I wrote some AES encryption code in C# and I am having trouble getting it to encrypt and decrypt properly. If I enter "test" as the passphrase and "This data must be kept secret from everyone!"   • WCF- Large Data

    I have a WCF Web Service with basicHTTPBinding , the server side the transfer mode is streamedRequest as the client will be sending us large file in the form of memory stream. But on client side when i use transfer mode as streamedRequest its giving me a this errro "The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request" And when i look in to trace information , i see this as the error message Exception: There is a problem with the XML that was received from the network. See inner exception for more details. InnerException: The body of the message cannot be read because it is empty. I am able to send up to 5MB of data using trasfermode as buffered , but it will effect the performance of my web service in the long run , if there are many clients who are trying to access the service in buffered transfer mode.   • BAD DC transfering FSMO Roles to ADC

    I have a DC (FQDN:server.icmcpk.local) and an ADC (FQDN:file-server.icmcpk.local). Recently my DC is facing a bad sector problem so I changed the Operation Masters to file-server for all five roles. but when ever i turn off the OLD DC the file-server also stops wroking with AD and GPMC further i m also unable to join any other computer to this domain. For Test purpose i also added a new ADC (FQDN:wds-server.icmcpk.local) but no succes with the old DC off i had to turn the old DC on and then joined it. I m attaching the Dcdiags for all three servers.   • Can I include the path and query string in an IIS "Error Pages" redirect?

    I'm setting up a custom 403.4 handler so that non-SSL requests to my site are redirected to a different URL - and what I'd like to do is to include the script path and query string in the redirect, so that a user who requests http://www.site.com/foo?bar=1 will be redirected to https://www.site.com/foo?bar=1 I know something similar is possible when configuring a top-level site redirect, using the $S, $Q, %v tokens referred to in this IIS reference page - but this syntax doesn't seem to work when configuring a custom error redirect.
