• What cookies are allowed from Internet Explorer using this option?

  When I look at the options used from Internet Explorer for the cookies, I read the following description: Blocca i cookie di terze party privi di una versione compatta dell'informativa sulla privacy. Its translation is roughtly: Blocks the cookies without a compact version of the privacy's informative. I don't get which cookies are blocked. From that description, it seems the cookies should include a compact description of the privacy informative, but I don't get how cookies can contain that information, or what happens with cookies set from sites outside the European Union. What cookies are blocked? The screenshot has been taken from Internet Explorer 9, but that words were used also from previous versions. The settings are the ones shown for the "Privacy" tab; I don't recall if the English version calls that tab the same way. EDIT, English screenshot .

• Can a webite have too many bindings?

  IIS7.x on a win08 web version on a dedicated server. I have a site that's serving a few dozen affiliates - many of which are hitting me via a subdomain from their own root domain - all of which have a subdomain specific to their account. E.G. my affiliate named 'Acme' hits my site via: myApp.Acme.com (his root, my app) Acme.MyDomain.com (his account within my root domain) Currently I'm adding each of these as a binding entry in IIS (targeting a discrete IP, not '*'). As I ramp this up to include more affiliates I'm wondering if I should be concerned about how many binding this site handles. Proabaly, in Acme's case I can do without the 'Acme.MyDomain.com' because, in reality, all traffic takes place via myApp.Acme.com. Mine is a niche site - very volume compared to most. At what point do I worry about all those bindings? thx

• Announcing Oracle Receivables Generic Data Fix (GDF) for Refunds

  Here's the first of what will be a series of Generic Data Fixes (GDF) to be released by Receivables Development. Generic Data Fix (GDF) are created by development to fix data issues caused by bugs/issues in the application code.  Other Generic Data Fix benefits/features include: Developed for bugs that can cause data issues. Provides a SELECT script that uses an identification/signature query to identify and report all data affected by issue/condition caused by a bug. Allow customers to view and modify what will be fixed. Provides a separate FIX script to fix the data reported by the SELECT script. The FIX script creates backup tables for the data that is fixed/updated. Available on My Oracle Support for download In Release 12, when creating a refund by either of the following methods: Applied a receipt to the Refund activity - which creates an Invoice in Payables Or you went directly into Payables to create a refund for an open Credit Memo in Receivables The Invoice in Payables that is associated to the refund is cancelled, the corresponding refund application or credit memo in Receivables is not properly re-instated. For the receipt application, it still remains applied to the Refund whereas this should be automatically unapplied. For the credit memo, it stays closed instead of getting re-opened. Doc ID 761993.1 includes the patch to make sure this doesn’t happen in the future as well as a GDF script to fix the current data (Script name: ar_std_refund_unapp.sql).  Download the script and run in READ_ONLY_MODE to identify 'refund' applications with this problem. • RHEL kickstart with external DVDrom drive

  HI I've an old Dell poweredge server with an CDROM drive. I've attached a USB DVDROM and USB stick with my ks.cfg on so I can install RHEL from DVD not loads of CDs :-) I can boot from the RHEL media in DVDROM and point the installer to the USB ks.cfg. This works but the ks.cfg script has the cdrom keyword in it. The install then stops and asks for the RHEL media to be in the CDROM drive not the DVDROM. How can I change the ks.cfg so it uses the external DVDROM for the install media not servers builtin cdrom drive ? I know I can go and rebuild my DVD image to include the ks.cfg , but this is an extra step I dont want to do if I have to. Regards Andy

• The premier support for Sun Cluster 3.1 ended

  In October 2011 the premier support for Sun Cluster 3.1 ended. See details in Oracle Lifetime Support Policy for Oracle and Sun System Software document. There no 'Extended Support' and the 'Sustaining Support Ends' is indefinite. But for indefinite 'Sustaining Support' I like to point out from the mentioned document (version Sept. 2011) on page 5: Sustaining Support does NOT include: * New program updates, fixes, security alerts, general maintenance releases, selected functionality releases and documentation updates or upgrade tools * Certification with most new third-party products/versions and most new Oracle products * 24 hour commitment and response guidelines for Severity 1 service requests *Previously released fixes or updates that Oracle no longer supports This means Solaris 10 9/10 update9 is the last qualified release for Sun Cluster 3.1. So, Sun Cluster 3.1 is not qualified on Solaris 10 8/11 Update10. Furthermore there is an issue around with SVM patch 145899-06 or higher. This SVM patch is part of Solaris 10 8/11 Update10. The 145899-06 is the first released patch of this number, therefore the support for Sun Cluster 3.1 ends with the previous SVM patches 144622-01 and 139967-02. For details about the known problem with SVM patch 145899-06 please refer to doc 1378828.1. Further this means you should freeze (no patching, no upgrade) your Sun Cluster 3.1 configuration not later than Solaris 10 9/10 update9. Or even better plan an upgrade to Solaris Cluster 3.3 now to get back to full support.

  I was using Bastille to improve the security of OS and I found the next question there I don't know if I should answer for YES or NOT: Questions: Would you like to set more restrictive permissions on the administration utilities? Explanation: In general, the default file permissions set by most vendors are fairly secure. To make them more secure, though, you can remove non-root user access to some administrator functions. If you choose this option, you'll be changing the permissions on some common system administration utilities so that they're not readable or executable by users other than root. These utilities (which include linuxconf, fsck, ipconfig, runlevel and portmap) are ones that most users could never have a need to access. This option will increase your system security, but there's a chance it will inconvenience your users. My users: When I installed Ubuntu I had create a user (admin), then I was able to create another user (people) but I cannot change the permissions of this user. Questions: The user there I am using like admin it's not the root, right? The effects of this option will affect to the two users (admin & people) or just to people?

As we know now days web applications or site are providing more and more features and due to that we have include lots of JavaScript and CSS files in our web application.So once we load site then we will have all the JavaScript  js files and CSS files loaded in the browsers and If you have lots of JavaScript files then its consumes lots of time when browser request them. Following images show the same situation over there.   Here you can see total 25 files loaded into the system and it's almost more than 1MB of total size. As we need to have our web application of site very responsive and need to have high performance application/site, this will be a performance bottleneck to our site. In situation like this, the bundling feature of Visual Studio 2012 and ASP.NET 4.5 comes very handy. With the help of this feature we do optimization there and we can increase performance of our application. To enable this feature in Visual Studio 2012 we just made debug=”false” in web.config of our application like following. Now once you enable this feature and run this application in the browser to see your traffic it will have less items like following. As you can see in the above image there are only 8 items. So after enabling bundling it will automatically convert all js and css files into the one request. Isn’t that cool feature? This feature will surely going to have great impact on performance. • Safari proxy bypass for IPv6

  I'm a first-time n00b on Mac (but have been doing computers since before PC's). This Mac has 2 VLANs, vlan0 in IPv4, vlan1 in IPv6. Safari can surf via IPv4 squid proxy OK. Safari can surf via IPv6 natively, if I switch off the proxy. How do I set up the Settings - Network - Interface - Advanced - Proxies to "bypass" IPv6? Current Settings include variations along the lines of ... "*.local, 10.0.0.0/8, 192.168.0.0/16, 172.16.0.0/12 , ::, ipv6 " but don't work as expected. I want Safari to go out on its own with IPv6, not crash at the proxy with "malformed URL" Thanks, //rhi

• How to prevent duplicate data access methods that retrieve similar data?

  In almost every project I work on with a team, the same problem seems to creep in. Someone writes UI code that needs data and writes a data access method: AssetDto GetAssetById(int assetId) A week later someone else is working on another part of the application and also needs an AssetDto but now including 'approvers' and writes the following: AssetDto GetAssetWithApproversById(int assetId) A month later someone needs an asset but now including the 'questions' (or the 'owners' or the 'running requests', etc): AssetDto GetAssetWithQuestionsById(int assetId) AssetDto GetAssetWithOwnersById(int assetId) AssetDto GetAssetWithRunningRequestsById(int assetId) And it gets even worse when methods like GetAssetWithOwnerAndQuestionsById start to appear. You see the pattern that emerges: an object is attached to a large object graph and you need different parts of this graph in different locations. Of course, I'd like to prevent having a large number of methods that do almost the same. Is it simply a matter of team discipline or is there some pattern I can use to prevent this? In some cases it might make sense to have separate methods, i.e. getting an asset with running requests may be expensive so I do not want to include these all the time. How to handle such cases?

  I am about to get a ton of business cards printed from my new corporation, and I am allowed to have a QR code on it, and I would really like to be able to add a photo to be attached to the vcard. • Uninstall or Disable Dell Wave

  The image we put on our company laptops includes the Dell Wave interface for Biometric log in. The Wave UI increases boot time by about 5 minutes (because it loads the fingerprint database(a feature I don't use)), so I'm trying to uninstall it, but with little success. There is no line-item in the Add/Remove Programs menu to formally delete it, nor is there a Service I can stop/remove to disable the Wave UI. I've tried looking online, but all I find instead are hits for Google Wave and virus-removal forums with HyjackThis dumps that include Dell Wave records. Any ideas? Edit: Removal isn't entirely necessary. Disabling the Wave UI is good enough.

• What is wrong with my game loop/mechanic?

  I'm currently working on a 2d sidescrolling game prototype in HTML5 canvas. My implementations so far include a sprite, vector, loop and ticker class/object. Which can be viewed here: http://elias-schuett.de/apps/_experiments/2d_ssg/js/ So my game essentially works well on todays lowspec PC's and laptops. But it does not on an older win xp machine I own and on my Android 2.3 device. I tend to get ~10 FPS with these devices which results in a too high delta value, which than automaticly gets fixed to 1.0 which results in a slow loop. Now I know for a fact that there is a way to implement a super smooth 60 or 30 FPS loop on both devices. Best example would be: http://playbiolab.com/ I don't need all the chunk and debugging technology impact.js offers. I could even write a super simple game where you just control a damn square and it still wouldn't run on a equally fast 30 or 60 fps. Here is the Loop class/object I'm using. It requires a requestAnimationFrame unify function.   Forgive me, I am probably not using the right terms to describe the problem and misunderstanding the most basic usage for a couple of common commands. I have a simple find statement that is locating files that I want to copy. I want to tack on the -exec cp {} and have cp copy the file from the source directory to a new base directory, but include the full path. For example: "find . -name *.txt" locates /user/username/projects/source.txt "cp {} [now what?]" copies the file to /user/newuser/projects/source.txt

• Best Guest OS for running freeswitch under Proxmox

  We have a lot of asterisk Systems running on dedicated machines and would like to use freeswitch to replace a number of them. One of the advantages of freeswitch is supposed to be that it is doing much better in a virtualized environment than asterisk is. However I can find very little information about people using it in Proxmox containers. I would like to know if anyone has seen any ready to run proxmox images that include freeswitch so we can test a number of things without having to deeply go into creating our own. Or at least a clue to which system images/distro images we can use to quickly get it installed not having to deal with too many dependency or different Linux version issues. Just to be clear: It should be for a more or less current Proxmox and current freeswitch. I am not looking forward to use the KVM mode but would consider it, if it is otherwise ready to run out of the box. I would rather use a real OpenVZ based container. Thanks for anyone helping!

  I have an Acer Aspire 3500WLMi laptop. It currently has a 40gb hard drive which I would like to upgrade. Could someone talk me through the process? I've listed my concerns/queries... Can I buy and install any 2.5" SATA or IDE hard drive into this machine? Should I buy somesort of USB caddy and clone my existing drive onto the new one via USB then physically swap the drives over? My current disk is partitioned to include a small amount of space for a Ubuntu install. Will a clone keep the current partition sizes or is it best for me to repartition once I've cloned? • Web service not accessible from behind corporates firewalls - how come?

  We run a Saas serving a widget which is embedded in customer websites. The service include static javascript code hosted on amazon S3 and dynamic part hosted on EC2 with Scalr (using scalr name servers). We received some feedback from users behind corporate firewalls that they cant access our service (while they can access the sites including the widget). This does not make sense to me since the service is using normal http calls on port 80 and our URL is quite new without any reason to be banned by firewalls. My questions are: 1. Why is the service is not accessible and what can I do about it? 2. Is it possible that one of the following is blocked by corporate firewalls: Amazon s3, the dynamic IP address provided by amazon, Scalr name servers. Any other possible reasons, way to check them and remedies for this? Thanks!

  Yesterday the final phase of ‘Tell Us Once’ went live. This completes the 4 1/2 year journey Solidsoft started on this cross government project with the addition of full electronic distribution of data and the most import piece – access for the citizen to use the service on-line. Tell Us Once (TUO) is the award-winning, cross-government programme that lets people inform central government and local authorities just once of a birth or death. In service in over 95% of councils in England, Scotland and Wales, it provides a permanent solution to the long-standing and frustrating issue of people having to notify the government multiple times. Several years ago, research showed that people had to make up to 44 contacts when reporting a death to government bodies and their local authority. The TUO service is offered as a face-to-face interview by the local authority or by telephone to a dedicated telephony service run by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). and a  now a TUO online service for death. From the bereavement section of the  Direct Gov web site the citizen is able to ‘enrich’ the standard death registration data to allow the ‘Tell Us Once’ system inform the various government departments about the death. These include the local council, DVLA, DWP, Passport service and HMRC. For the record this is an excellent example of how an SME working with a large SI partner can deliver success for government in a responsive and agile manner. For me personally it is a proud moment in which a vision I started with a very small team was followed through, extended and finally delivered by an excellent team at Solidsoft.

• Observable Adapter

  .NET 4.0 introduced a pair of interfaces, IObservable<T> and IObserver<T>, supporting subscriptions to and notifications for push-based sequences. In combination with Reactive Extensions (Rx), these interfaces provide a convenient and uniform way of describing event sources and sinks in .NET. The StreamInsight CTP refresh in November 2009 included an Observable adapter supporting “reactive” event inputs and outputs.   While we continue to believe it enables an important programming model, the Observable adapter was not included in the final (RTM) release of Microsoft StreamInsight 1.0. The release takes a dependency on .NET 3.5 but for timing reasons could not take a dependency on .NET 4.0. Shipping a separate copy of the observable interfaces in StreamInsight – as we did in the CTP refresh – was not a viable option in the RTM release.   Within the next months, we will be shipping another preview of the Observable adapter that targets .NET 4.0.   Hello, I'm using apt-get install to install various software on my PC. I have a handful of PCs that needs the same software packages installed all over them. How can I get list of software installed via apt-get install and the sequence in what the packages are installed. Okay, the sequence is not so important since the package manager resolves dependencies... I want to create a script that once run installs all needed software on the other PCs. All of these PCs are Ubuntu default installations. It is obvious that the packages list must not include all the packages that are installed trough a default installation :) Also that list should not contain software installed via synaptic or dpkg if possible.
