  • Jquery attach show event to select option

    Hi, I have a select form element with 5 options. If option 2 is selected I want to display another form input box (this has a style of display:none initially). How can I attach an event to option 2 so that whenever it is selected the input box is shown otherwise it is hidden. I have this currently but this does not handle is option 2 is already selected when the page loads $('#type').change(function(){ var typeSelected = $(this).val(); if (typeSelected == 2) { $('#extraInput').show(); } }); I know I could add another bit of code which checks what is selected on page load but wondered if there was a neater way of doing this. Also something that could handle the hiding of the input box if option 2 is not selected at the start as currently I have just hard-coded style="display:none" onto the input box but I would prefer this to be dynamic.     Hi, I having problems with re-checking some checkboxes after and ajax call updates a table. I have a table of what the project calls 'shares'. I want to: 1) check for and save any checked shares to an array 2) Do my ajax call to update the table of shares 3) Re-check any there we checked before the ajax update. My code is not working and I can't see why?     My function below calls a partial view after a user enters a filter-by string into the text box '#DocId'. When the user is done typing, the partial view is displayed with filtered data. Since my textbox needs to be in the partial view, when user is done entering a filter-by string and is shown the filtered data, the textbox is reset and the user entered data is lost. How can I set the value of the textbox back to the user entered string after the partial view is displayed?     Hi all. Please be gentle, I'm still learning. I imagine that the solution to my problem is simple and that perhaps I have just been in front of the computer too long. I am trying to detect the size of the viewport, and then use a different sized image for a background on an element depending on the size of the viewport. To me a simple conditional should solve this background problem, as the code is merely selecting between two images based on what size it detects the viewport to be. Can you please help point out my n00b syntax error? Sometimes it really does help to have an extra pair of eyes look at something like this, even if small.
