  What debugging tools are available for directshow filters? Presently, I have a project that compiles and registers a video source filter that I then setup a graph in GraphEdit. I am using c++ in visual studio 2008. Is it possible to get a debugger attached to the filter in any way where I could set break points, inspect variables, etc? Barring that is there a way to log diagnostic information somewhere that I can view in real time?

• UNIX find for finding file names NOT ending in specific extensions?

  Is there a simple way to recursively find all files in a directory hierarchy, that do not end in a list of extensions? E.g. all files that are not *.dll or *.exe UNIX/GNU find, powerful as it is, doesn't seem to have an exclude mode (or I'm missing it), and I've always found it hard to use regular expressions to find things that don't match a particular expression. I'm in a Windows environment (using the GnuWin32 port of most GNU tools), so I'm equally open for Windows-only solutions.

  Sometime back I used a windows tool to see what a process is doing. This tool allowed me to inspect functions exported from DLL. It also allowed me to change the values passed to a function on the fly. I cannot recollect the name(not sure if that was free or commercial one). Could any one point to me solution that can do this?   I'm used to press shift+F7 to switch between my code behind and the designer (which takes between 1 and 5 seconds to load) then I always have to click on View Xaml to modify my XAML code. I don't find any shortcut in Tools/Options/Keyboard to go directly (from code behind to XAML code). How can I do that ?

  I am writing a game editor, and have a lot of different "tool" objects. They all inherit from BTool and have the same constructor. I would like to dynamically populate a toolbox at runtime with buttons that correspond to these tools, and when clicked have them create an instance of that tool and set it as the current tool. Is this possible, and if so will it be better/easier than creating those buttons by hand?

• CVS branch name from tag name

  I have a number of modules in CVS with different tags. How would I go about getting the name of the branch these tagged files exist on? I've tried checking out a file from the module using cvs co -r TAG and then doing cvs log but it appears to give me a list of all of the branches that the file exists on, rather than just a single branch name. Also this needs to be an automated process, so I can't use web based tools like viewvc to gather this info.

I'll need to rename a number of tables and fields, but need to do so in a way that doesn't break existing queries. (Fortunately, there are no macros, forms, or reports to worry about.)
