    - by MercurieVV
Actually what I want - simple DB with simple User Interface. Like MS Access, but for web and it can be without Dragn n Drop, but described with markup language. For example if I want to create list report, then i need to write something like: <table query="SELECT * from mytable"></table> It needed for simple data applications. In that kind application no programming logic required. Just working with DB. Changing DB data and showing it.

  • How long is a CS degree good for?

    - by Recursion
I came upon a comment on another forum today and one user responding to another suggested that a CS degree is really only good for one through two years at the most, and after that its as if you never had it. Is this really true? is this what employers think? When I did CS I never learned anything new, we learned fundamentals like data structures, algorithms, time complexity, OS fundamentals, language characteristics. Most of this stuff has been around for the past 20 years or so.

  • Clojure example of the day?

    - by Michiel Borkent
Is there a Clojure example of the day kind of service, like a blog, or Twitter account I can follow? Would be really nice to have a short example every day to enhance Clojure skills and to get inspired to delve deeper into the language. Clojure really lends itself well for short but powerful code.

  • Reading a SquashFS archive

    - by p-static
(SquashFS is a compressed filesystem - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SquashFS) I'm looking for a way to read a SquashFS filesystem from a program. So far, I've know about the in-kernel drivers for it, but I'm sure that a userspace library for it must exist somewhere. Any language would be fine, but C is preferred. Just mounting the filesystem and using it that way is technically possible, but I'd rather avoid that route because the application I'm looking at would involve working with at least a few dozen archives at any given time.

  • Is there a way I can overlay graphics on top of all windows using C#?

    - by Secrest
I want to create a C# app which rests in the system tray. However, I would like this application to overlay certain graphic elements / drawing on top of the screen above all windows at certain times. So, for example, while my application is running, even though minimized to the tray, it will draw certain shapes on top of the screen regardless of what is there. Is this possible using C#? If not, is there any other language that would have this capability?

  • What's wrong with this "if"?

    - by Gurzo
Hello, I'm currently trying to make an AppleScript which should recognize the selected file in Finder and do the relative command in Terminal. Everything was going fine since I reached the part where it should define the language of the selected file: it just doesn't check the ifs. I checked if it writes fileExtension correctly (via return) and it does. Here is the Gist with the code, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm not a competent developer with any language but I can handle some easy JS or PHP or regex & Bash scripting...snippets welcome.

  • How to merge multiple arrays in pairs

    - by user3688059
I have a problem with "pairing" arrays into one (by index). Here is an example: INPUT: inputArray = [ [0, 1, 2, 3, 4], [2, 3, 5, 7, 8], [9, 6, 1] ] OUTPUT: outputArray = [ [0,2,9], [1,3,6], [2,5,1], [3,7,chooseRandom()], [4,8,chooseRandom()]] Questions: 1) How to avoid out of range problem 2) How to write chooseRandom() to choose N neighbour I'm using python but feel free to share your thoughts in any language.
