• Creating a Comment Anchor

  Hello, The function below allows a user to insert a comment into a MySQL table called "comment." Then, the file "comments2.php" displays all comments for a given submission. Right after a user submits a comment, I would like the top of the user's browser to be anchored by the comment the user just submitted. How can I do this? • WCF and Firewalls

  Hi guys, As a part of learning WCF, I was trying to use a simple WCF client-server code . http://weblogs.asp.net/ralfw/archive/2007/04/14/a-truely-simple-example-to-get-started-with-wcf.aspx but I'm facing strange issues.I was trying out the following. Client(My) IP address is : 192.168.2.5 (internal behind firewall) Server IP address is : 192.168.50.30 port : 9050 (internal behind firewall) Servers LIVE/External IP (on internet ) : 121.225.xx.xx (accessible from internet) When I specify the above I.P address of server(192.168.50.30), the client connects successfully and can call servers methods. Now suppose if I want to give my friend (outside network/on internet) the client with server's live I.P, i get an ENDPOINTNOTFOUND exceptions. Surprisingly if I run the above client specifying LIVE IP(121.225.xx.xx) of server i also get the same exception. I tried to debug the problem but haven't found anything. Is it a problem with the company firewall not forwarding my request? or is it a problem with the server or client . Is something needed to be added to the server/client to overcome the same problem? Or are there any settings on the firewall that need to be changed like port forwarding? (our network admin has configured the port to be accessible from the internet.) is it a authentication issue? • How to share internet over VPN and inside a virtual machine (Windows)?

  ` My final goal is to have a virtual machine at work in which anything that happen inside (tcp, udp, ping, ...) will use the Internet connection of a computer at home. So, if inside this VM should I open an Internet browser to a site such as "show my IP", my home IP should be printed. I am also looking for a way to debug/develop a software inside this VM, but I would like to tunnel only the connections of this software, not the full graphical interface, this is why a Remote Desktop solution won't fit me. The connection between the both computer should be secured somehow, like in a SSH tunnel. This ultimately should allow me to have a portable VM in which I can connect to whatever networks I have access at home, in a secure way. This is my configuration: At work, I have a LAN-connected desktop computer, with Windows 7 Professional Edition as a host [computer W] On this same computer, I have a Virtual Box machine running Windows XP [computer V] At home, I have a laptop computer, running Windows 7 Home Edition [computer H] This laptop is connected to a Livebox 2 broadband modem by Wifi. What I am trying to do is to sit at work in front of the virtual machine [V], and connect to a webpage as if the request was issued from the laptop [H] at home, and the data should be securely tunneled between the both. But if I am using internet directly inside [W], it should use the normal LAN interface at work. To achieve my goal, I first try using VPN, than SSH tunneling, without success. I first tried to install Teamviewer between [W] and [H]. This is working fine, I can send files, share desktop, etc. Teamviewer has a VPN mode that creates a new VPN network interface with its own IP, both on computer [W] and [H]. This allowed me to connect [H] as a network computer inside [W] and I was able to share files, but not to share Internet. At this point, I tried to use from [W] the Internet as if I was at home. I setup a route (using route add from command line in [W]) in order to instruct each packet going to a given website to pass by the new VPN interface on [W], with the hope it will be forwarded to [H], but the webpage was simply inaccessible. I then tried to setup a Windows VPN connection between [W] and [H], using the Windows 7 VPN feature. [H] was the server and [W] the client. But it failed: I got the "Unable to join a remote PC while trying to VPN" 720 Error when I was setting up the client on [W]. I think the problem is the Livebox 2 that could blocks the packets. But I am not sure of this: 1) with Teamviewer it works fine, 2) Livebox 2 has a configuration page for port mapping that gives the proper configuration to map VPN ports as an example so I guess that it should allow it, 3) I opened the ports 1723 (TCP) and 500 (UDP) according to some forums. Virtual box has a network configuration parameter in which I can use the VPN network interface created by Teamviewer as a bridged connection. This is suppose to work in the sense that all packets issued by the virtual machine [V] is supposed to go directly to [H]. But I had no internet connection inside [V]. Using the NAT mode, [V] has internet. For me this is the feature that I look for: filtering all connections from the virtual box application to the VPN network interface, and the remaining should use the normal LAN interface. Apart from the build-in feature of VBox, I even do not know if it is possible to route the packet from a given application to a given interface. Finally I tried also SSH tunneling, but this is not the solution I looked for. Using an external SSH server (Linux), I was able to create a localhost connection on [W] (or [V]), using something like 'ssh -N -D server[H]' in order to allow a web browser located in [W] to connect to any website using the SOCKS 5 proxy created locally (SOCKS is a build-in feature of SSH). But repeating the same operation on windows, using a windows SSH server inside [W] (I tried freeSSHd), it failed: SFTP worked, but not the SOCKS tunneling, it was like the browser in [H] did not find internet. Finally only Teamviewer looked able to create a VPN between [W] and [H], but I am not able to use it, as I want, I mean using the Internet connection of [H] sitting in front of [W]. I also tried to bridge the VPN interface and the wifi interface inside [H], but it blocked my laptop, and I tried also the Internet Connection Sharing, trying to share on [H] the wifi connection over the VPN interface. This fails also, but it seems because Teamviewer actually use the wifi interface to be able to provide the VPN link, so I guess I am creating a recursive loop. I do not know what to try next... • Getting a Temporary Table Returned from from Dynamic SQL in SQL Server 05, and parsing

  Hi everybody, I have a problem with the jquery-autocomplete pluging and my django script. I want an easy to use autocomplete plugin. And for what I see this (http://code.google.com/p/jquery-autocomplete/) one seems very usefull and easy. For the django part I use this (http://code.google.com/p/django-ajax-selects/) I modified it a little, because the out put looked a little bit weired to me. It had 2 '\n' for each new line, and there was no Content-Length Header in the response. First I thought this could be the problem, because all the online examples I found had them. But that was not the problem. I tried also to format the output, but this doesn't work either. I set brakepoints to the function and realized that they won't be called at all. • SQL query mixing aggregated results and single values

  I have a table with transactions. Each transaction has a transaction ID, and accounting period (AP), and a posting value (PV), as well as other fields. Some of the IDs are duplicated, usually because the transaction was done in error. To give an example, part of the table might look like: ID PV AP 123 100 2 123 -100 5 In this case the transaction was added in AP2 then removed in AP5. Another example would be: ID PV AP 456 100 2 456 -100 5 456 100 8 In the first example, the problem is that if I am analyzing what was spent in AP2, there is a transaction in there which actually shouldn't be taken into account because it was taken out again in AP5. In the second example, the second two transactions shouldn't be taken into account because they cancel each other out. I want to label as many transactions as possible which shouldn't be taken into account as erroneous. To identify these transactions, I want to find the ones with duplicate IDs whose PVs sum to zero (like ID 123 above) or transactions where the PV of the earliest one is equal to sum(PV), as in the second example. This second condition is what is causing me grief. So far I have SELECT * FROM table WHERE table.ID IN (SELECT table.ID FROM table GROUP BY table.ID HAVING COUNT(*) > 1 AND (SUM(table.PV) = 0 OR SUM(table.PV) = <PV of first transaction in each group>)) ORDER BY table.ID; The bit in chevrons is what I'm trying to do and I'm stuck. Can I do it like this or is there some other method I can use in SQL to do this? Edit 1: Btw I forgot to say that I'm using SQL Compact 3.5, in case it matters. Edit 2: I think the code snippet above is a bit misleading. I still want to mark out transactions with duplicate IDs where sum(PV) = 0, as in the first example. But where the PV of the earliest transaction = sum(PV), as in the second example, what I actually want is to keep the earliest transaction and mark out all the others with the same ID. Sorry if that caused confusion. Edit 3: I've been playing with Clodoaldo's solution and have made some progress, but still can't get quite what I want. I'm trying to get the transactions I know for certain to be erroneous. Suppose the following transactions are also in the table: ID PV AP 789 100 2 789 200 5 789 -100 8 In this example sum(PV) < 0 and the earliest PV < sum(PV) so I don't want to mark any of these out. • Trouble updating my datagrid in WPF

  As the title indicates, I'm having trouble updating a datagrid in WPF. Basically what I'm trying to accomplish is a datagrid, that is connected to a SQL Server database, that updates automatically once a user enters information into a few textboxes and clicks a submit button. You'll notice that I have a command that joins two tables. The data from the Quote_Data table will be inserted by a different user at a later time. For now my only concern is getting the information from the textboxes and into the General_Info table, and from there into my datagrid. The code, which I'll include below compiles fine, but when I hit the submit button, nothing happens. • Round-twice error in .NET's Double.ToString method

  Mathematically, consider for this question the rational number 8725724278030350 / 2**48 where ** in the denominator denotes exponentiation, i.e. the denominator is 2 to the 48th power. (The fraction is not in lowest terms, reducible by 2.) This number is exactly representable as a System.Double. Its decimal expansion is 31.0000000000000'49'73799150320701301097869873046875 (exact) where the apostrophes do not represent missing digits but merely mark the boudaries where rounding to 15 resp. 17 digits is to be performed. Note the following: If this number is rounded to 15 digits, the result will be 31 (followed by thirteen 0s) because the next digits (49...) begin with a 4 (meaning round down). But if the number is first rounded to 17 digits and then rounded to 15 digits, the result could be 31.0000000000001. This is because the first rounding rounds up by increasing the 49... digits to 50 (terminates) (next digits were 73...), and the second rounding might then round up again (when the midpoint-rounding rule says "round away from zero"). (There are many more numbers with the above characteristics, of course.) Now, it turns out that .NET's standard string representation of this number is "31.0000000000001". The question: Isn't this a bug? By standard string representation we mean the String produced by the parameterles Double.ToString() instance method which is of course identical to what is produced by ToString("G"). An interesting thing to note is that if you cast the above number to System.Decimal then you get a decimal that is 31 exactly! See this Stack Overflow question for a discussion of the surprising fact that casting a Double to Decimal involves first rounding to 15 digits. This means that casting to Decimal makes a correct round to 15 digits, whereas calling ToSting() makes an incorrect one. To sum up, we have a floating-point number that, when output to the user, is 31.0000000000001, but when converted to Decimal (where 29 digits are available), becomes 31 exactly. This is unfortunate. • Rails routing to XML/JSON without views gone mad

  I have a mystifying problem. In a very simple Ruby app i have three classes: Drivers, Jobs and Vehicles. All three classes only consist of Id and Name. All three classes have the same #index and #show methods and only render in JSON or XML (this is in fact true for all their CRUD methods, they are identical in everything but name). There are no views. Why does the same code work for one class but not the other two? Why is it trying to do a #view on the ApplicationController? I found that if I create a simple HTML view for each of the three classes these work fine. To each class I add: format.html # show.html.erb With this in place, going to localhost:3000/drivers/3 renders out the item in HTML and I get no errors in the log. But if attach .xml to the URL it again fails for two of the classes (with the same error message as before) while one will output XML as expected. Even stranger, on the two failing classes, when adding .js to the URL (to trigger JSON rendering) I get the HTML output instead! Is it possible this has something to do with the "has many polymorphs" plugin? I have heard of people having routing issues after installing it. Removing "has many polymorphs" and "active support" from environment.rb (and rebooting the sever) seems to make no difference whatsoever. Yet my problems started after it was installed. I've spent a number of hours on this problem now and am starting to get a little desperate, Google turns up virtually no information which makes me suspect I must have missed something elementary. I still received duplicate icmp echo replies... in fact I received a random amount: http://pastebin.com/2LNs0GM8 The same thing doesn't happen on a few other hosts on the same switch, so it has to do with the linux box itself. I'll likely end up rebuilding it next week. Then... you know... this same thing will occur again. [edit3] Guess what? I rebuilt the box, and I'm still receiving duplicate ICMP echo replies. Must be the network infrastructure, although the ARP tables do not contain multiple entries. [edit4] How ridiculous. The machine was a network probe, so I was (ingress and egress) mirroring an uplink port to a node that was the NIC. So, the flow (must have) gone like this: ICMP echo request comes in through the mirrored uplink port. (the real) ICMP echo request is received by the NIC (the mirrored) ICMP echo request is received by the NIC ICMP echo reply is sent for both. I'm ashamed of myself, but now I know. It was suggested on #networking to either isolate the mirrored traffic to an interface that does not have IP enabled, or tag the mirrored packets with dot1q.

• Mac won't boot into safe mode

  Mac boots fine normally, except when in safe mode. Holding down shift when booting gets me to the progress bar on the grey screen. Progress bar gets about half way before mac reboots. I modified nvram boot-args to get a better look: sudo nvram boot-args="-x -v" It definitely gets through fsck, skips loading kernel extensions (since it's in safe mode), does something with the network interfaces, then this is the last thing it wips through... • Google Maps API v3: Turning user input coordinates to latlng?

  I'm new with Google Maps. I'm trying to turn coordinates a user inputs to move a marker I have on my map to those coordinates. For instance, if the user inputs 50.75, 74.1 the marker will pan to that coordinate. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work.   I have written the following tests to compare performance of Linq2SQL and NHibernate and I find results to be somewhat strange. Mappings are straight forward and identical for both. Both are running against a live DB. Although I'm not deleting Campaigns in case of Linq, but that shouldn't affect performance by more than 10 ms. • RegEx to ignore / skip everything in html tags

  Looking for a way to combine two Regular Expressions. One to catch the urls and the other to ensure is skips text within html tags. See sample text below functions. Need to pass a block of news text and format text by wrapping urls and email addresses in html tags so users don't have to. The below code works great until there are already html tags within the text. In that case it doubles the html tags. There are plenty of examples to strip html, but I want to just ignore it since the url is already linkified. Also - if there is an easier was to accomplish this, with or without Regex, please let me know. none of my attempts to combine Regexs have worked. coding in ASP.NET VB but will take any workable example/direction.
