• Increase Timeout for remote sessions in Debian 5 Lenny

  I always get a remote connection time out when using PuTTy and also when i send emails with attachments from a mail sever installed on Debian. I always get this error. I'm not sure if this is firewall or the new Debian 5 installation which i made. Is there any settings i need to fix after fresh install. Any inputs are highly appreciated. • How exactly does processing files work on AFP shares?

  I recently made myself a NAS, and I’ve been wondering about how AFP shares work. If I have a ZIP on the AFP share, and I use Finder to decompress the file, what will the process for decompressing this file be? Will it read the file into memory on my Mac, process it, and then write the results to the AFP share? I’ve been wondering because if I login via SSH to decompress, I seem to get faster results.

  Small business server 2011 standard - applications randomly closing for remote desktop users I have an issue where when you are connected through remote desktop (doesn't matter whether you have administrative rights or not).   I am running Visual SVN Server(with Apache) on a Windows 7 computer and network. After about 15-20 minutes of my first commit/update, I am unable to access the repository via Tortoise SVN. The error message I get is: OPTIONS of "https://jason/svn/repository1": could not connect to server (https://jason) Restarting the Visual SVN Server service helps sometimes but fails quite often. The only sure-shot way to get it working is to restart the computer. The server - https://jason is also not accessible via the browser when I get this error 1) I tried reinstalling Windows 7, Visual SVN server and Tortoise SVN but I still keep getting this error. 2) I searched several forums but I dont seem to be able to find an answer. Please help.

• Dual Touchscreens in Different Rooms

  I'm planning on having one dual-core system running two touchscreens, each in its own room in the house. I'd like to be able to use the internet on one, while someone else uses the other to record music - each of us interacting with the screen as we would separate computers. I was also thinking that running each screen, or certain programs, on its own core might make this work more smoothly. Will this setup work in Windows 7 Home on a mini-tower or do I need to invest in a server to get this sort of workstation/terminal setup to work?

• How can I send raw postscript to a remote printer via CUPS?

  I have an ancient fax device with a printer interface that only accepts postscript level 1 documents formatted in a specific way. I only have access to this printer over the lpd:// protocol. I have some old documents from our previous system that work fine on our Unix machines, but they are altered somehow by CUPS when I use lp on our Linux system. The PDF files that end up in the print queue are significantly modified versions of the original, and although they still render in ghostscript, they don't do anything on the printer. I'm wondering if there's a way to tell CUPS "don't process this, just send it to the printer without modification", or whether there's a lpd client or procedure I could try?

  My client has a XenServer 6.0.2 installation with 2 Window Server 2008 R2 virtual machines. Whenever the virtual machines are rebooted they lose their IP settings (IP address, subnet, gateway). Each time after a reboot I need to login to each VM via XenCenter and re-apply the required static IP settings. This causes issues with connected iSCSI drives within each VM - drives need to be reconnected after each reboot. • How can I get a notification from my server if the mail queue stops

  I am using QMail with Plesk 10 on an Apache server. Occasionally the mail queue stops processing emails - this most recently happenend when an email account got hacked and started sending hundreds of emails. We did not find out about this until a client of ours contacted to say that their emails were not being recieved, so we checked the mail queue and lo and behold the service had stopped. In future I would like to be notified when the mailqueue stops. How can I set something up so the server will run a command whenever the mailqueue stops?

• SFTP "Could not connect to server error"

  I'm having problems connecting to my server via SFTP. I can SSH in to the system perfectly fine, but for some odd reason, i'm not able to SFTP (which I used to be able to). I have cleared ALL my iptables rules iptables -F still no access. I have removed the sub system (to allow FULL access) still no access. I can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is. Thus is therefore making a solution impossible.

• Linux Minux 12 Freezes (Gnome 2) - How to go about finding and fixing cause?

  This freezing issue has been reported by others over the past few months but no clear answer has been provided. Some have attributed it to Banshee or other music players but this is incorrect since I have this problem and never while using anything other than perhaps Firefox. (I am not sure if it is necessarily due to firefox). Logging out and logging back in seems to remedy the problem. However, it would be nice to fix things once and for all. This problem began in the past 3 weeks. I alway have all Mint updates implemented.

• How do I re-configure grub options

  I've searched this topic and I can't find an article with a plausable solution, to my problem. I installed windows 7 first, with 100gb of disk space. I created the necessary partitions via windows. Then I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on the remaining 400gb of disk space. During the Ubuntu installation I installed the ubuntu boot loader on /dev/sda3 which Windows (as expected never granted me the option pre-boot for which OS I wanted to boot). So I re-installed Ubuntu on that /dev/sda3 partition, overriding the windows 7 loader. Now when I boot windows 7, it runs GNU Grub, so like an infinite loop. How can I reconfigure grub to say: /dev/sda is the bootloader. /dev/sda2 is Windows. /dev/sda3 is Ubuntu. Re-installing windows and my partitions isn't an option, purchasing software for windows isn't an option (theres a reason I use linux, it's not because it's free, because you don't have to install lots of shit to get stuff working, and over-all it's a robust OS).

  Hi, I'm wondering if there's a way to not show hidden applications in the list of running apps when using Command-Tab ? LiteSwitch (http://www.proteron.com/) sort of does what I want, except it grays out hidden applications, but I want them to not appear at all. I use hidden applications as a sort of 'I'll get to later, or don't bother me now' method, so it would be great if Command-Tab could honor that (the same was Expose does). Thanks.

  Hi, I've just updated my app with the latest WPF toolkit and I've now got an issue with my styling. When I bind some data with, for example, two columns to the grid, the spare area at the right shows the name of the ViewModel in the header. I can understand why, because the data grids data context is the ViewModel and I'm defining my header style as follows ... <WpfToolkit:DataGridHeaderBorder <Border BorderBrush="Blue" BorderThickness="0,1,0,0"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding}" Margin="4,0,4,0" /> </Border> </WpfToolkit:DataGridHeaderBorder> Do I now need a separate style for the 'spare column' or something? • wpf binding by selected value - swap out bound object without disturbing binding

  Hi, I've got combo box bound to a custom collection type - its basically an overridden ObservableCollection which I've added a facility to update the underlying collection (via Unity). I don't want to confuse the issue too much, but thats the background. My xaml looks like this <ComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding Manufacturers}" DisplayMemberPath="Name" SelectedValuePath="ID" SelectedValue="{Binding Vehicle.ManufacturerID}" /> And in my overridden collection i was doing this. index = IndexOf(oldItem); Insert(index, (T)newItem); RemoveAt(index + 1); I had hoped because it was bound by value, that inserting the new object(which had the same id) and then removing the old one would work. But it seems that although its bound by SelectedValue it still knows that its being swapped for a different one. The combo just looses its selection. Can anyone help please?

  Hi, I've got a user control that I'm loading into a Window dynamically - I wanted to set the Window so that it didn't have a size and then I thought the window to resize accordingly depending on the UserControl. However it dosn't - can anyone assist please? I've made a very basic example - I've cut out the dynamic bits and just put a UserControl in a Window. What do I need to do to get the window to be tight around the UserControl? • CSS background image being downloaded more than once

  I noticed in my current project that Firefox (3.5.4) downloads the background image (set in CSS) for my divs more than once. I've checked with both firebug and wireshark and it really does appear that it does not wait for the first request to finish and then simply use the cached version. Wireshark also confirms that Chrome and IE8 do as expected and only request the image once. Any ideas what might be causing this?   I'm trying to write a SQL Server database update script. I want to test for the existence of a column in a table, then if it doesn't exist add the column with a default value, and finally update that column based on the current value of a different column in the same table. I want this script to be runnable multiple times, the first time updating the table and on subsequent runs the script should be ignored. • Cannot format first column in WxPython's ListCtrl

  If I set the format of the first column in a ListCtrl to align centre (or align right) nothing happens. It works for the other columns. This only happens on Windows - I have tested it on Linux and it works fine. Does anyone know if there is a work-round or other solution?   I’ve just build my first Helper in MVC, it’s very basic and just displays a string where ever I use it. So it’s a .cshtml file in my App_Code folder, I think that is how it's supposed to be set up, with the following code in it, @helper DisplaySelect() { @:This text is coming from an helper class. } Now I am a wiz with helpers how do I make it do things. E.g.. say I want it to query the database and display something, I would normally do that work in my controller.   Hi, I've got a Customer object with a Collection of CustomerContacts IEnumerable Contacts { get; set; } In some other code I'm using Reflection and have the PropertyInfo of Contacts property var contacts = propertyInfo.GetValue(customerObject, null); I know contacts has at least one object in it, but how do I get it out? I don't want to Cast it to IEnumerable because I want to keep my reflection method dynamic. I thought about calling FirstOrDefault() by reflection - but can't do that easily because its an extension method. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any kind of syntax highlighting extension point.
