• How do I include a password with SSH command? (want to make shell script)

  I'm trying to SSH to a server on startup with a .sh script, but that will require me to enter the password for the account on the server that I'm SSHing to. I did some RTFMing, and I see in "-o" that it has "PasswordAuthentication" but I'm not sure how or if I could use that option. As this will be in a shell script, obviously I'd like to have the password in that file, or in any case not have to enter in the password manually every time the script runs.

• Is it reasonable for REST resources to be singular and plural?

  I have been wondering if, rather than a more traditional layout like this: api/Products GET // gets product(s) by id PUT // updates product(s) by id DELETE // deletes (product(s) by id POST // creates product(s) Would it be more useful to have a singular and a plural, for example: api/Product GET // gets a product by id PUT // updates a product by id DELETE // deletes a product by id POST // creates a product api/Products GET // gets a collection of products by id PUT // updates a collection of products by id DELETE // deletes a collection of products (not the products themselves) POST // creates a collection of products based on filter parameters passed So, to create a collection of products you might do: POST api/Products {data: filters} // returns api/Products/<id> And then, to reference it, you might do: GET api/Products/<id> // returns array of products In my opinion, the main advantage of doing things this way is that it allows for easy caching of collections of products. One might, for example, put a lifetime of an hour on collections of products, thus drastically reducing the calls on a server. Of course, I currently only see the good side of doing things this way, what's the downside?

• My gnome terminal keep opening new window

  I actually want to change the default window position of gnome-terminal in my Ubuntu 12.04 system. After some search, I found some one else use the command gnome-terminal --geometry=120x80+50+50 to set the default position. And I actually don't know where to paste the command, so I pasted it to 'custome command' field of terminal's profile. Now when I open one terminal, it just keep opening new ones and I have no way to stop it other than ctrl+C. I even removed .gconf/gnome-termial/ folder and it didn't worked. Can someone help me?

• Make sudoers work with only certain parameter?

  I'm trying to make my sudoers file allow a user to adjust the backlight without having to enter in the password. This is what I have: # User alias specification Cmnd_Alias ADJBL = /usr/bin/su -c "echo 150 >/sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness" # For our user.. ouruser HOME=(root) NOPASSWD:ADJBL .. but it doesn't seem to be working, I still get prompted for the password when I try and run that command with sudo. Apparently there is something I'm missing here, any ideas?

• Crash During Update Deleted ALL panels; can't open terminal; can't see icons

  So I was upgrading Ubuntu from 11.10 to 12.04 in the terminal after recovering my system from a previous crash, and then I go through a power outage during the second time trying to update. NOW, my screen is white, only the time shows up in the top right corner, no icons show up, no apps show up, AND terminal is NOT opening. I can still use the internet somehow, and ctrl + alt + F2 opens what I think is a back-up terminal? NEED HELP to recover what is lost.

• jquery tab switching links so they jump to top of page?

  I was given some great help by redsquare to get this far to change jquery tabs from links within the content, but I have one more issue that I'm looking for support on... When a user clicks a link to switch to a different tab from within the content, can i get the page to jump to the top of the page? Within my demo link, scroll to the bottom of the page to click the links and they switch tabs just perfectly, which you can confirm if you scroll up. So, I'm looking for the switch to also jump the user to the top of the page, so the user doesn't have to "scroll" to the top of the page to begin reading new content.   I have a functioning jquery accordion using pure unordered lists. I'm trying to incorporate 2 pieces of functionality. • Collapse span when input button is hidden

  I have a style that wraps around an input button, so the button can be styled very creatively. When the button is hidden in .Net, i would like the style to collapse so it renders like its hidden as well. What the style does, as a result of no value in the button or its hidden, is it keeps a small shape.   I'm trying to write a program to take the first letter of the user input to generate a username. I'm trying to write it so that if the user leaves the input blank, then the letter that would otherwise be taken to generate the username defaults to the letter 'z'. • Bazaar + CruiseControl.Net

  I want to setup CruiseControl.Net at my company. We currently have several .net solutions stored in a Bazaar repository and I want to use MSBuild to build each solution. This didn't seem too controversial, but I can't see an easy way of binding CruiseControl.Net to Bazaar. There seems to have been a plugin to do this at http://www.sorn.net/projects/bazaar-ccnet but this link no longer works and I cant seem to find the plugin anywhere else I was going to use the External source control type, but bazaar seems to bork at the GETMODS parameter being passed to it My current thought now is to create a separate project to pull modifications from bazaar using an Exec task, then create another project to run a FileSystem source control check on that directory. I'm moderately sure I can get this to work, but it seems a bit hacky. I don't mind writing a new Bazaar plugin for CruiseControl.Net but I cant find where to start with this. My questions are do you run these two in combination, if so how do you do it? If you don't run these together, do you have any recommendations on a good approach? Is there any documentation or good starting point that I could use to write a bazaar plugin? Am I an idiot for trying to use CruiseControl.Net? Should I be using something else?

• What emoticons can you put into class names in your language?

  I've just had a "discussion" with a developer about naming classes in C#. My final throw away line was, "Let's not put any emoticons in our class names." I can't think of a way you could put emoticons in C# class names, but I haven't thought too hard about it. Is this possible? Does any programming language allow it? What would be the best/worst language to be able to perform this in? Update: The Scheme answer bests answers my question. It was a quick idea after a quick discussion so I'm going to accept after a short amount of time and then move on with my life. Thanks for the responses.

• Special characters stripped by mySQL/PHP JSON

  Hi, I have a simple PHP script to extract data from a mySQL database and encode it as JSON. The problem is that special characters (for example German ä or ß characters) are stripped from the JSON response. Everything after the first special character for any single field is just stripped. The fields are set to utf8_bin, and in phpMyAdmin the characters display correctly.   Anyone ever implements something in UITextView that stopping it from receiving future inputs when the text length is smaller than certain threshold? I plan to implement a textview like we have in the mail composer interface. We have a placeholder "Subject" there, and the cursor starts after. Placeholder in UITextView Inspired from this question, I wonder if there are some methods which could be used to stop changing the text in the UITextView once the cursor is moving back to the placeholder string. Any ideas?

• Bing Map on Windows Phone - add click events to pushpins; display more details

  I have a WP Phone app using a Bing Map control. I have an array of objects, and each object has a location. I iterate the array to place the pins on the map (see below). I have a touch event bound to each pin to allow the user to tap the pin to start an action. Now - I would like, on tap, to show information from the object that relates to that pin to be shown in a textbox. • Help with Collapse and Expand Accordion at same time using JQuery (demo)

  I'm stuck on an Expand/Collapse accordion using JQuery. After the initial headline is clicked and it expands, if you click to another headline it will collapse the former headline completely FIRST then it will expand the headline you clicked. This collapse first then expand second technique is very distracting and what should happen is as the headline is expanding it should collapse the initial headline. What am I missing? • Does a cable / adaptor for my needs exist? (photos)

  I recently bought a UPS, however, the only outlets take this sort of connector: But, the other end of the cables is like this (right): The thing is, I really need to connect it to a power bar, so I need a cable that has one end like in the first photo, and the second end like this (right side): I've searched around for quite a while, and asked at a few shops, but cannot seem to find a cable that will fulfill this purpose. This seems crazy to me, as I would think that a UPS wouldn't only be able to be attached to devices that take the relatively obscure output seen on the right side of the second image I posted. Do I need to buy another UPS that has the proper connectors?? Please help!!

• Google's Search Box in SharePoint

  Has anyone here looked at the Google Search Box for SharePoint? We're looking into it as part of our MOSS deployment since we also use Google's GSA, and I'm personally not impressed with it, while a colleague seems to think that it's the only option we should be using, or even considering. While I've got no problems with the GSA indexing our SharePoint content, the Search Box just seems clumsy. It looks horrible, the results being returned are much more limited than what I get if I use the GSA search page itself, configuring it has been nothing but a PITA and it's still only got a basic config ans isn't respecting things like user permissions or search scopes that the default SharePoint Indexer and search controls handle out of the box. What are your guys thoughts? Am I being overly critical, and should just spend more time trying to configure it? Are you using a split-personality with it yourself, where you have the GSA for enterprise wide search, but use SharePoint for local searches? Other thoughts?

• How do I get around "Access is Denied" [Number: 5 (0x80070005)], with IIS6/FastCGI and PHP 5.2.3?

  I'm getting this error with IIS 6.0 (i assume), and PHP 5.2.3, and FastCGI FastCGI Error The FastCGI Handler was unable to process the request. Error Details: Error Number: 5 (0x80070005). Error Description: Access is denied. HTTP Error 500 - Server Error. Internet Information Services (IIS) Any ideas, nothing revealings in logs (other than 500 errors), this is pretty much all of I have to work with. The script has read and execute privileged for the internet guest account; and, I've added read/execute privileges to the whole D:\PHP. I followed this tutorial http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/247/using-fastcgi-to-host-php-applications-on-iis-60/ to set it up. The only major diversion is I installed PHP to D:\PHP
