• Video conference/chat tool that can be embedded in own website needed

  We are looking for a means (a tool, a commercial service) to enable a closed user group to start a live video conference in a browser, as part of the company website. Something like Skype, but embedded and available for everybody that has access to the page into which the tool is embedded. Most services require registration and the creation of a chat room on their website, or, as Skype or similar solutions, the installation of an extra software. What we need is a solution with some kind of a "hidden login", performed by the site's client script (which knows who the user is and forwards the credentials to the service). Any suggestion?

• Is there an application or way to sync address book, Facebook, LinkedIn, Gmail contacts?

  I'm looking for a Mac application or an Web application to sync all my Facebook, LinkedIn, Gmail contacts and Mac OS X address book contacts in one place. At the same time, it would be great if it didn't create a bunch of duplicates. (PS: The default sync between gmail contacts and address book seems to only create duplicates and doesn't seem to really work well together). Does anyone have a solution?

• Hybrid gmail MX + postfix for local accounts

  Here's the setup: We have a domain, mydomain.com. Everything is on our own server, except general email accounts which are through gmail. Currently gmail is set as the MX record. The server also has various email aliases it needs to support for bug trackers and such. e.g. [email protected] |/path/to/issuetracker.script I'm struggling with a setup that allows the following, both locally and from user's email clients. guser1 - has a gmail account and a local account guser2 - only has a gmail account bugs - has a pipe alias in /etc/aliases for issue tracker Scenarios mail to [email protected] from local host (crons and such) needs to go to gmail account mail to [email protected] from local host mail to [email protected] needs to be piped to the local issue tracker script So, the first stab was creating a transport map. In this scenario, the our server would be set as teh MX and guser* destined emails are sent to gmail. Put the gmail users in a map like so: [email protected] smtp:gmailsmtp:25 [email protected] smtp:gmailsmtp:25 Problems: Ignores extensions such as [email protected] Only works if append_at_myorigin = no (if set to yes, gmail refuses to connect with: E4C7E3E09BA3: to=, relay=none, delay=0.05, delays=0.02/0.01/0.02/0, dsn=4.4.1, status=deferred (connect to gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com[209.85.222.57]:25: Connection refused)) since append_at_myorigin is set to no, all received emails have (unknown sender) The second stab was to set explicit localhost aliases in /etc/aliases and do a domain wide forward on mydomain. This too requires setting the local server as the MX: root: root@localhost # transport mydomain.com smtp:gmailsmtp:25 Problems: * If I create a transport map for a domain that matches "$myhostname", the aliases file is never parsed. So when a local user (or daemon) sends an email like: mail -s "testing" root < text.txt Postfix ignores the /etc/alias entry and maps to [email protected] and attempts to send it to the gmail transport mapping. Third stab: Create a subdomain for the bugs, something like bugs.mydomain.com. Set the MX for this domain to local server and leave the MX for mydomain.com to the Gmail server.   I appreciate that similar questions have been asked about how to setup SMTP relaying with IIS's virtual SMTP server. However I'm still completely stumped on this problem. Here's the setup: IIS 6.0 SMTP server running on Win2k3 box with a NAT'ed IP. Company uses Gmail for all email services. An app on the box needs to send email, so normally we'd just set the app up to talk to smtp.gmail.com directly, but this app doesn't support TLS. Easy, we just setup a local SMTP relay right? So I thought. What we have done so far: Setup IIS SMTP server to relay to smtp.gmail.com, as per these excellent instructions: http://fmuntean.wordpress.com/2008/10/26/how-to-configure-iis-smtp-server-to-forward-emails-using-a-gmail-account/ The local SMTP relay allows anonymous access. Both the local IP and the loopback IP have been explicitly allowed in the Connection... and Relay... dialogs. Tried sending email from 2 different apps via the local SMTP server, but failed (the emails end up in the Queue folder, but never get sent). The IIS logs show the conversation with the local app, but zero conversation happening with smtp.gmail.com. The port used by gmail is open outbound, and indeed the apps we have that support TLS can send email directly via smtp.gmail.com, so there is no problem with the network. At this point I changed the smtp settings in IIS SMTP server to use a different external SMTP server and hey-presto, the local apps can send email via local IIS SMTP relay. So smtp.gmail.com fails to work with our IIS SMTP relay, but another 3rd party SMTP service works fine. We need to use smtp.gmail.com, so how to troubleshoot this one?

• How to fix GMail time stamps in Outlook?

  One of my email accounts is hosted at an ISP with unreliable IMAP support, and I can't change it. Fortunately, I have my personal email set up on Google Apps for Domains, so I created another GMail account there and turned on GMail's features that allow me to send and receive mail through the ISP account using GMail ("Send mail as" and "Get mail from other accounts" in GMail settings on the Accounts tab). I'm now using Outlook to retreive mail from the GMail account through IMAP, which in turn is retreiving mail from the ISP account through POP3. This basically works great, except for one very significant issue: Prior to setting this up, I already had several months of mail in the ISP account that I had been accessing via IMAP. GMail grabbed all of this mail via POP3 at, let's say, noon on April 5. In GMail's web interface (and on my iPod touch, and in Mozilla Thunderbird), all is well: the messages are all shown with their original time stamps. But when Outlook downloads these messages from GMail via IMAP, the time stamps are all set to noon on April 5 (the time GMail downloaded them from the ISP via POP3). That's not good, especially since we're talking about hundreds of messages here over a time span of several months. How can I fix this and get Outlook to display the original time stamps?

  I've got the Compiz Place Windows plugin working for most of my apps, but I can't get Gmail to open on a specified desktop window/viewport. Under CompizConfig Settings Manager Place Windows Fixed Window Placement Windows with fixed viewport, I have class=Pidgin, x=2, y=1, and that works fine, but I can't get Gmail to place properly. I've tried class=Prism, title=Gmail, title=gmail ... The Gmail Prism config is from the prism-google-mail 1.0b3+svn20100210r62050-0ubuntu2 package. Any ideas?

• Gmail flagging emails as spam despite SPF being enabled and working perfectly

  I have a website where people can recommend contents to their friends using their email. The issue is that emails are being flagged as spam whereas if I do the same from my development machine things are working out fine. I have enabled SPF and it is perfect. When sending through website, the email appears as this in Gmail Inbox: From [email protected] to [email protected]. When I send it from my development machine it appears as : From xyz.com via mywebsite.com to [email protected] mailed by mywebsite.com and this is exactly how I envisioned it. From what little I could figure out by looking at the source of emails in Gmail is that when sending from my development machine Gmail correctly recognizes my domain as mywebsite.com for which SPF is enabled and hence it treats it as genuine email. Whereas Gmail recognizes my domain as [email protected] when sent through the website. Can someone tell me why it does so? Any help would be really appreciated.

  I'm setting up a new mail server with postfix dovecot and things are working fine except this strange thing. I'm unable to send email to gmail addresses. The log shows status sent. However, I checked there is no email in gmail mailbox. Jul 8 13:10:08 example postfix/smtp[5294]: B53B637C233: to=<[email protected]>, relay=gmail-smtp-in-v4v6.l.google.com[173.194.79.26]:25, delay=2.2, delays=1.5/0.08/0.49/0.14, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 2.0.0 OK 1341727808 nc7si50672387pbc.75) However, my other account can send to gmail. After several testing, then I found that if I first send email from gmail, then subsequently I can send from my server and email received by gmail. I don't have this issue with Yahoo. What could be the problem?

  I’m in a slightly weird situation right now, and I don’t have sufficient knowledge to sort this myself without truly understand what I’m doing. Yesterday, I’ve registered a domain (.com) and ordered a VPS, attached to that domain. Chances are I may receive mail on my .com address to confirm the domain. Unfortunately, that domain is nothing, but an empty domain. Currently, there’s no mailserver that fetches my mail. Because I don’t have a mailserver available, I (temporarily) want to use Gmail. I prefer to add it to my existing, personal address, but I’m okay with creating a new account as well. I just want to read possible incoming mails. I’ve tried to set MX records to What do I need to do to get mail to a Gmail address? PS. I’m aware of Google, NSA, etc. PPS. I just want to receive mail. I don’t care if I can’t send via my domain. PPS. Detailed steps would be greatly appreciated, I’m a noob.

• Is it possible to really delete a Facebook chat message or the whole chat?

  Ok, so a few months ago me and a friend send a whole bunch of smileys to each other in Facebook chat just for fun. I wish I had known at that time how stupid that was. Even until today, every time I open the chat with that contact, the Facebook tab totally locks up when I try to load that chat. It will load eventually after five minutes or so, but it becomes very inconvenient at times. On Facebook Messenger for Android, there's no problem and the chat works fine. I'd like to know if there's any way to completely delete a Facebook chat (not archive them) and start over so it won't load the smileys anymore.

  Hello, I just enabled some Gmail Labs programs in my Gmail account, and then I noticed the orange triangle icon with an exclamation mark in it at the end of the address bar of my Google Chrome browser. Clicking on it brought forth a "Security Information' dialog box, with the following messages: "--mail.google.com The identity of website has been verified by Thawlte SGC CA. --Your connection to mail.google.com is encrypted with 128-bit encryption. However, this page includes other resources which are not secure. These resources can be viewed by others while in transit, and can be modified by an attacker to change the look or behavior of the page." I then logged into two of my other Gmail accounts, one of which has no Gmail Labs programs enabled, and the other with 1 program enabled quite some time ago, both with the same result as above (i.e., with the appearance of the orange triangle warning sign in the address bar). I don't remember seeing the orange triangle before, but I'm not sure if it has ever appeared or not. I have "Always use https" enabled for my Gmail accounts. My questions are: Is there a way to identify and remove these un-secure "resources"? (Could enabling Gmail Labs programs have brought these on?) Meanwhile, are my Gmail accounts compromised and unsafe to use? If so, what should I being doing about that now? After this problem is solved, would I need to reset the password to my Gmail accounts, and/or take any other measures to restore their security? Many thanks for answering my questions!

• Make Thundirbird use and sync with Gmail Spam facility

  I am using Thundirbird 3.1.7. I am using Gmail with it. When I mark a message as spam in Thunderbird, I want it to go to Gmail's spam folder. But it is not happening. The mail is only marked as spam and stays in Gmail's inbox. How can I setup Thunderbird so that when I mark a message as spam in thundirbird, it goes to spam folder in both Thunderbird and Gmail? FYI: I have disabled Thunderbird's own adaptive spam controls so that it doesn't interfere. I am perfectly fine with Gmail's spam facility and don't want Thunderbird to add another layer of spam filtering. Still Thunderbird doesn't send emails to Gmail's spam. Update I figured that dragging and dropping the email to the spam folder in Thunderbird does the job. But is it the same as marking the email as spam in Gmail's interface? i.e. Gmail will do stuff when you mark an email as spam so that it can filter out similar messages in the future. Does it happen when I do this drag and drop thing too? Are they the same?

• Changing email application in Preferred Applications to GMail?

  I'm trying to change the Preferred Application for email. I have installed the package desktop-webmail, but there is no new option under System - Preferences - Preferred Application as you would expect, infact, there is only one option there, only Evolution. According to this post it should be possible to set a custom application, but no option is available. Is it possible to setup GMail as Preferred email app so that File - Send by email works in gnome apps? This seems to be a dup of another post here, Thing is that this works fine in 10.10, but in 11.04 this method no longer work. My post above is meant for 11.04 and the question is still valid.

• Gmail address book in Evolution does not work

  I added my Gmail address book to evolution, but it gives my an error every time, even when choosing "use secure connection" in the address book options. The error is (I translated it on my own): unable to open address book. This is because you entered a wrong URI or the server is unavailable at the moment. Details: cannot open book: source already loaded! Sometimes, when I click the button 'reject error', it does load the address book but when I return to evolution after a while, it gives me the same error and sometimes I cannot load the address book. This is very annoying since I have to use evolution a lot.

The receiver polls the server regularly and acknowledges that the data has been received. I did a little bit of research and am thinking of implementing this using the XMPP Framework for iOS. Any pointers as to is this the correct implementation or some advice in general?

• Sending HTML to Gmail always lands in Spam

  I am having an issue with sending HTML emails to Gmail. I can send them to Yahoo, Hotmail, RR, AOL, etc. with no problem at all, but when I send them to Gmail I get kicked to spam. I have checked my IP with a lot of different list to make sure it is not listed anywhere, which it is not. spamhaus = is not listed in the DBL abuse.net = is not listed in the SBL abuse.net = is not listed in the PBL abuse.net = is not listed in the XBL spamcop = not listed in bl.spamcop.net host 24.172.204.xxx xxx.204.172.24.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer xxxevents.com. host xxxevents.com xxxevents.com has address 24.172.204.xxx xxxevents.com mail is handled by 10 mail.xxxevents.com. I am just trying to send a very VERY basic HTML message (listed below). I use an Ubuntu server, swiftmailer, multipart/alternative (HTML & plain), SPF = pass, and I am going to setup DKIM today to see if that fixes it (but I doubt it will)... • Unable to delete Gmail profile in Outlook 2010

  I used to have 2 Gmail profiles set up in Outlook 2010. I initially had it set up using IMAP, but I deleted it (or so I thought), and re-set it up the old-fashioned way without IMAP. Then finally, I deleted the 2nd Gmail profile altogether. So now I only have ONE Gmail profile set up in Outlook 2010 and it works fine. The problem is that the original Gmail IMAP folder for the 2nd Gmail account is still in my list of folders when I use Outlook. I've already disabled IMAP via my Google Gmail account. But I am unable to delete the folder from Outlook 2010. I have checked in the account settings and it is NOT in my list of email profiles or the data files. Has anyone else had this problem?
