  • Delphi TBytesField - How to see the text properly - Source is HIT OLEDB AS400

    We are connecting to a multi-member AS400 iSeries table via HIT OLEDB and HIT ODBC. You connect to this table via an alias to access a specific multi-member. We create the alias on the AS400 this way: CREATE ALIAS aliasname FOR table(membername) We can then query each member of the table this way: SELECT * FROM aliasname We are testing this in Delphi6 first, but will move it to D2010 later We are using HIT OLEDB for the AS400. We are pulling down records from a table and the field is being seen as a tBytesField. I have also tried ODBC driver and it sees as tBytesField as well. Directly on the AS400 I can query the data and see readable text. I can use the iSeries Navigation tool and see readable text as well. However when I bring it down to the Delphi client via the HIT OLEDB or HIT ODBC and try to view via asString then I just see unreadable text.. something like this: ñðð@ðõñððððñ÷@õôððõñòøóóöøñðÂÁÕÒ@ÖÆ@ÁÔÅÙÉÃÁ@@@@@@@@ÂÈÙÉâãæÁðòñè@ÔK@k@ÉÕÃK@@@@@@@@@ç I jumbled up the text above, but that is the character types that show up. When I did a test in D2010 the text looks like japanse or chinese characters, but if I display as AnsiString then it looks like what it does in Delphi 6. I am thinking this may have something to do with code pages or character sets, but I have no experience in this are so it is new to me if it is related. When I look at the Coded Character Set on the AS400 it is set to 65535. What do I need to do to make this text readable? We do have a third party component (Delphi400) that makes things behave in a more native AS400 manner. When I use its AS400 connection and AS400 query components it shows the field as a tStringField and displays just fine. BUT we are phasing out this product (for a number of reasons) and would really like the OLEDB with the ADO components work. Just for clarification the HIT OLEDB with tADOQuery do have some fields showing as tStringFields for many of the other tables we use... not sure why it is showing as a tBytesField in this case. I am not an AS400 expert, but looking at the field definititions on the AS400 the ones showing up as tBytesField look the same as the ones showing up as tStringFields... but there must be a difference. Maybe due to being a multi-member? So... does anyone have any guidance on how to get the correct string data that is readable? If you need more info please ask. Greg

  • Terminal is not letting me make commands unless I hit enter a bunch of times

    Whenever I open terminal it normally allows me to immediately begin making commands. Only earlier today I did the setup for github here https://help.github.com/articles/set-up-git And then all of a sudden the thing where I give terminal commands won't allow me to give it commands unless I hit enter a few times. This is what it looks like: Last login: Fri Nov 9 11:43:28 on ttys001 mysql.save: Permission denied mysql.save: Permission denied /Users/Nick/.zshrc:32: command not found:  . ~ git: ? ~ git: ? ~ git: ? See the big space? That's because it simply will never show the ~ git: thing unless I hit enter 3-4 times. Also, it never used to say ~ git: before I did the git setup. I'm not sure what I changed. I've checked the zshrc file and commented everything out to find the line causing the problem.     I'm currently running php5 with APC, the latter with default configuration. However after setting up munin to monitor APC, I'm surprised by the results: apc.shm_size: 30 apc.gc_ttl: 3600 apc.ttl: 0 Used: 14MB Request rate: 100 requests/second Fragmentation: 0 Hit ratio: 80% (dropping to 0 a few times per hour) So the obvious question: how can I adapt the configuration to achieve a higher hitrate. I find it very strange that the available memory is not fully used which the hitratio is still below what I would expect. Thank for any hints!

  • Anyone else being hit by traffic on TCP port 11370

    I've been watching my logs (Ubuntu 9.10 server) and dunno about any of you but I am getting a ton of traffic from sources like Russia, Romania, etc.. on port 11370 (my iptables are logndrop'ing it. But was just curious). Some googling revealed this info: http://www.keysigning.org/sks/ -which seems to use port 11370 & 11371 Could that be the service they are scanning for (i don't run it)? ICS shows this: https://isc.incidents.org/port.html?port=11370 Just curious what you guys think and if anyone has seen this before? If need be I can post my log on here, but its just a dropped log of TCP port 11370 from various IPs. Thought it was strange as thats the ONLY Port I seem to repeatedly be hit on (from logs). I'm running on a Linode (VPS) if that matters to annyone.

  • Normalize Accept-Encoding via HAProxy for optimized Squid hit rate

    Our website infrastructure uses HAProxy for load balancing, a Squid cluster for caching, and application data is on an IIS cluster. We load balance HAProxy by URI to optimize the Squid hit-rate, but we know that Squid is holding different copies of each page based on the Accept-Encoding header passed to it by the browser, and so IE (gzip, deflate) will have a different copy of a cached page than Firefox (gzip,deflate) or Chrome (gzip,deflate,sdch). We want to normalize the Accept-Encoding headers and I think the best place to do so would be in HAProxy. I'd appreciate it if someone could offer some ideas on how to accomplish this without breaking support for clients without gzip or deflate support.

    Hello, when using OnRender to draw something on the screen, is there any way to perform Hit Testing on the drawn graphics? Sample Code protected override void OnRender(System.Windows.Media.DrawingContext drawingContext) { base.OnRender(drawingContext); drawingContext.DrawRectangle(Brushes.Black, null, new Rect(50, 50, 100, 100)); } Obviously one has no reference to the drawn Rectangle which would be necessary to perform hit testing or am I wrong about this? I know I can use DrawingVisual, I'm just curious if my understanding is correct, that using OnRender to draw something you can't perform any hit testing on the drawn things?

  • UIButton: Need a circle hit area

    Ok I have 6 custom UIButtons. Their normal state image are all circles images. They are all spaced out equally but all the circles touch each other. The problem with the custom UIbutton (which has a circle image on it), is that the hit area of that button is square, and the corners of this square overlaps the hitarea of the other custom button's hitarea. How do i make the hit area of a UIbutton whos normal state has a circle image, be only clickable on that circle only, rather than the normal square hit area?!   • Alert user when they hit the browser back button - with good reson

    I know this borders on the taboo here, and please don't reply with "you should never do this etc" I have a very long form in a wizard, some users are too used to using the browsers back and forward buttons that they use those instead of the "Back" and "Next" buttons on the form wizard. If they hit the browsers back button they lose all of their form data which is a pain in the ass, since form is so long. Is it possible to display an alert that when will have a "take me out of here" and a "cancel" button so if they hit cancel it will cancel the function of the back button? Thanks!

    I've recently upgraded my laptop's internal hard drive from a 160GB to 1TB drive. I cloned the drive, then installed it. The general system performance seems appreciably slower. In particular application launches seem to take much longer. Is this possible, or am I just expecting too much from the new drive? It's running a Macbook Pro which is a couple of years old.     We cannot seem to install Ubuntu Server with USB as it reboots when I hit 'enter' for 'Install Ubuntu Server' option. My friend wants to try setting up a server so; we downloaded Ubuntu Server 10.04.4 we created a boot CD and installed ubuntu server no problem at all. But then the problem arose the hardrive we wanted to use is a 1tb sata drive and the computer orginally has 40gb IDE. So I bought a Sata to IDE and IDE to Sata converter from: http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Product/52926/IDE-to-SATA-converter---Converts-IDE-HDD-to-SATA-inc-sata-data-and-power-cables Unfortunately this converter means I cannot plug in the IDE cable meaning I only have one IDE connection i.e CD drive has to be disconnected for the 1tb sata Hardrive to be connected. So now the 1tb drive is connected, powered it on opened the bios to make sure the hdd appeared it did as ST3ASDAPFKG (somthing like that). Fortunately the computer supports USB booting, so I read ubuntu server usb install instructions I tried: Startup Disk Creator & Unebootin Startup Disk Creator made the usb bootable with the 'ubuntu-10.04.4-server-i386.iso' All looked fine stuck the usb drive in, booted the machine up and I am quickly presented with ubuntu language choice. I hit enter to select English then I am presented with: Install Ubuntu Server, Install Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud, Check Disk for defects, test memory, Boot from first hard disk, Rescue a broken system I can move up and down the menu fine everything seems ok, I select 'Install Ubuntu Server', computer just hangs and screen either goes blank or locks. So I rebooted the computer loads the same menus fine, I select 'Install Ubuntu Server' hit 'enter' and the computer just restarts then brings me back to the same menu. hmmm Then I tried choosing the rest of the options separately: Install Ubuntu Server, Install Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud, Check Disk for defects, test memory, Boot from first hard disk, Rescue a broken system computer just restarts and back to the same ubuntu menu every-time. Grrrr At this point I wish I actually new how to command line install or something but I don't have a clue how to do that. So I tried hitting 'f6' for 'other options' and I tried them all in various combinations and individually. No Luck: (Expert mode, acpi=off, noapic, nolapic, edd=on, nodmraid, nomodeset, Free Software only) At this point I am wondering if it is a bios setting causing problems, I tried turning every option in there on off that I don't understand. No Luck. I then discovered by accident if you hit esc in the ubuntu install menu it says "you are leaving the graphical boot menu and starting the text mode interface" I hit 'Ok'. Next a prompt pops up saying 'boot:' One time it responded when I typed somthing with 'Cannot find kernal image (something like that but since then it just restarts when I hit enter in that prompt). I had a browse on the net and found someone suggesting removing quiet from install command for 'Install Ubuntu Server'. Made no difference at all just reboots... Orginal boot options noprompt cdrom-detect/try-usb=true persistent file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu-server.seed initrd=/install/initrd.gz quiet -- Modified boot options noprompt cdrom-detect/try-usb=true persistent file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu-server.seed initrd=/install/initrd.gz -- Still I cannot install Ubuntu Server by USB as it, reboots when I hit 'enter' for 'Install Ubuntu Server' option. This is a real pain as we cannot take the 1tb Sata Hardrive and swap it for IDE to be able to use the cd drive. Why is is it so hard to install ubuntu server with usb? I have wasted a full day and half on this really frustrated any help would be amazing! I know the answers out there just seems a bit illusive at the moment! However I also want that movies that have a hit in title have a higher score than hits on alternative_title and those in their turn should score higher than hits in the plot field. Is there any way to indicate this kond of scoring in the xml or do we need to develop some custom scoring algorythm?   • Page does update with details from the database after i hit a button

    I have a code and the way it should work is,when they click on NEW CUSTOMER,it takes them to test1.php where in they enter the details and they hit submit.it saves all the details in properly in the database and when i go back and hit REFRESH ,it should come up with the customer details which they had entered in previously. But what happens is, when i click on the REFRESH,it refreshes the same old page which is empty.I wanted to find out where am i missing the logic.Thanks in advance.
