• How to rename an existing Grails application

  Hi there, Does anybody know how to (easily) "rename" an existing grails application? I'm running into this because my PaaS provider does not allow me to delete a subscription... So I want to deploy my application under a different name. Of course, I can do this manually, but I think it might be a useful 'top-level' script (i.e. "grails rename-app newappname") Manual hints: When I do a "grails create-app myappname" I can see the myappname exists in the following files (and filenames)... Of course this is done by the create-app script, which replaces @...@ tokens in the template. • git repository sync between computers, when moving around?

  Hi Let's say that I have a desktop pc and a laptop, and sometimes I work on the desktop and sometimes I work on the laptop. What is the easiest way to move a git repository back and forth? I want the git repositories to be identical, so that I can continue where I left of at the other computer. I would like to make sure that I have the same branches and tags on both of the computers. Thanks Johan Note: I know how to do this with SubVersion, but I'm curious on how this would work with git. If it is easier, I can use a third pc as classical server that the two pc:s can sync against. Note: Both computers are running Linux. Update: So let's try XANI:s idea with a bare git repo on a server, and the push command syntax from KingCrunch. In this example there is two clients and one server. So let's create the server part first. ssh user@server mkdir -p ~/git_test/workspace cd ~/git_test/workspace git --bare init So then from one of the other computers I try to get a copy of the repo with clone: git clone user@server:~/git_test/workspace/ Initialized empty Git repository in /home/user/git_test/repo1/workspace/.git/ warning: You appear to have cloned an empty repository. Then go into that repo and add a file: cd workspace/ echo "test1" > testfile1.txt git add testfile1.txt git commit testfile1.txt -m "Added file testfile1.txt" git push origin master Now the server is updated with testfile1.txt. Anyway, let's see if we can get this file from the other computer. mkdir -p ~/git_test/repo2 cd ~/git_test/repo2 git clone user@server:~/git_test/workspace/ cd workspace/ git pull And now we can see the testfile. At this point we can edit it with some more content and update the server again. echo "test2" >> testfile1.txt git add testfile1.txt git commit -m "Test2" git push origin master Then we go back to the first client and do a git pull to see the updated file. And now I can move back and forth between the two computers, and add a third if I like to.

  Hi! I'm about to buy a new firewall and I’m choosing between a Sonicwall NSA 240 and a Netgear ProSecure UTM 25. I have already done research for which kind of firewall I need and limit it to these two, now I just have to choose between them. But what I don’t know is which one of them is easiest to administrate, which one has the best UI? Any thoughts?

• Using Static Public IPs and Private DHCP IPs on the Same Router

  I have a subnet of public IP addresses that my ISP has provided me with. They are routed through my router (how profound) that has a a static IP. I have successfully assigned the IPs from that subnet to various devices on my network. This works just fine, they get their own public IP, they can access the Internet, and the Internet can access them. However, I would like to also assign some private IPs on my network through that same router and put them behind NAT. Is this even possible? Could a VLAN be of use? I would like to avoid putting another router on the network, which makes this is quite an awkward question.

• How to repair a damage transaction log file for Exchange 2003

  Hi! Yesterday we had a power failure and the UPS did not work (it has worked perfect before). Everything seem to be ok when I started all the servers again except of the mail, when I try to mount the store I get the following message: “The database files in this store are corrupted” Server: Exchange 2003 running on a Small Business Server Latest full backup: one week old Backup program: Backup Exec 9.0 This is what I have done: 1. Copy every file in the MDBDATA folder (edb, stm, log) 2. Run Eseutil /d for priv1.edb 3. Run Eseutil /p for priv1.edb (took seven hours) 4. Run Isintig –fix –test alltests, now it breaks down. Isintig fails with the following error: Isinteg cannot initiate verification process. Please review the log file for more information. The problem is that there is no log file created. 5. Giving up on this route I decide to do a restore from the backup, it fails with the following error: Unable to read the header of logfile E00.log. Error -501, and the error: Information Store (5976) Callback function call ErrESECBRestoreComplete ended with error 0xC80001F5 The log file is damaged. My conclusion is that E00.log is damage, so how can I repair it so that I can restore the database? Or should I give up and try some other route?

• Very slow first handshake Apache

  Any one having any ideas where should I start to fix this issue, the first handshake take sometimes up to 20s, but refreshes after that takes only 0.9s. The setup, 100/10 Mbps Windows OS 4GB RAM Intel Core 2 @ 3.0 GHz And 7200 RPM HDD Apache 2.4 No SSL Mod_Security Enabled Mod_Deflate Enabled Mod_Expires Enabled Mod_ReWrite Enabled PHP & MySQL on same machine. I have seen much slower machines preforming better, therefor I think my problem is ony an optimization issue.

• NVCPL.DLL in RunDLL can't be initiated on startup

  I got a new computer and installed Windows 8. But everytime I start up I get this message: (Couldn't post the images because of my low reputation. But here is what they said) Was in Swedish, translated: RunDLL There was a problem with the start of NVCPL.DLL The initiation of a DLL-file failed I have no idea what it does and how to fix it. I don't know if this will help but I have got some more problems with DLL files. Here is an example: ** QuickTime for Windows** A problem has occurred with the windows-installer package. A DLL-file which is needed for this installation couldn't be used. Contact support or distributor.

• Our server hosting provider asked for our root password

  I work at a company that develops and hosts a small business critical system. We have an "Elastic cloud server" from a professional hosting provider. I recently got an email from them saying that they've had some problems with their backup solution and that they needed to install a new kernel. And they wanted us to send them the root password so they could do this work. I know that the email came from them. It's not [email protected] or anything like that. I called them and asked them about this, and they were like "yep, we need the password to do this". It just seems odd to send the root password over email like this. Do I have any reason to be concerned?

• SQLRally Nordic gets underway

  PASS is becoming more international, which is great. The SQL Community has always been international – it’s not as if data is only generated in North America. And while it’s easy for organisations to have a North American focus, PASS is taking steps to become international. Regular readers will be aware that I’m one of three advisors to the PASS Board of Directors, with a focus on developing PASS as a more global organisation. With this in mind, it’s great that today is Day 1 of SQLRally Nordic, being hosted in in Sweden – not only a non-American country, but one that doesn’t have English as its major language. The event has been hosted by the amazing Johan Åhlén and Raoul Illyés, two guys who I met earlier this year, but the thing that amazes me is the incredible support that this event has from the SQL Community. It’s been sold out for a long time, and when you see the list of speakers, it’s not surprising. Some of the industry’s biggest names from Microsoft have turned up, including Mark Souza (who is also a PASS Director), Thomas Kejser and Tobias Thernström. Business Intelligence experts such as Jen Stirrup, Chris Webb, Peter Myers, Marco Russo and Alberto Ferrari are there, as are some of the most awarded SQL MVPs such as Itzik Ben-Gan, Aaron Bertrand and Kevin Kline. The sponsor list is also brilliant, with names such as HP, FusionIO, SQL Sentry, Quest and SolidQ complimented by Swedish companies like Cornerstone, Informator, B3IT and Addskills. As someone who is interested in PASS becoming global, I’m really excited to see this event happening, and I hope it’s a launch-pad into many other international events hosted by the SQL community. • Wordpress Widget auto activate

  Hello! Im new att widgets, but i have manage to write my own widget and get it to display correctly in my theme. The only problem i have now is that i want the widget to "auto activate" in the sidebar. So when the theme is installed on any wordpress installation the widget should be active so the user dosent need to drag it to the sidebar in admin. Is that possible?

Everything works fine except one thing, if you log in with bad information you get redirected to wp-login.php and the error message pans out there. What i want is so the error message displays at the form on my front page. Is there way of doing this?

  I'm new to cookies, and im trying to set a cookie where to store the referrer (the org ref). But when i try this function: function do_it_cookie() { // Check if cookie exists if (isset($_COOKIE['ref'])) { // It dose exist, do nothing or anything... } else { setcookie ('ref', $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'], time() + 60, '/'); header ("Location: http://www.nyttforetag.com/mind-your-own-business/"); } } I want to store the cookie on the user computer for 30 days, if the return i want to know the initial refereeing url. But when i use this and lets say i go to another page in my site and then go back to the homepage its sets a new cookie with the exact same name and with the ref of the previous page. Is there away to avoid this?

• Link rate between EMC DAE and HBA

  I have a EMC DAE (KTN-STL4) drive cage directly connecconnected to a HP Proliant server using a QLogic QLE2560 HBA. I'm using copper cable between the HBA card and the DAE. On the controller card in the DAE there is a label that states "4Gb". I'm guessing that this means 4Gbit/s. But if I set the HBA card to "Auto speed" it negotiate 2Gbit/s, and if I hard set it to 4Gbit/s I end up with no link. Why is this? Isn't the DAE controller card capebel of link speed higher then 2Gbit/s or is it the copper cable that limits the speed, or is it the interface used between the DAE and Qlogic HBA that is the problem? I have been browsing for HSSDC-FC converters and they always seems to på rated at ~2Gbit/s. If this is the limit, why does it say 4Gb on the controller cards in the DAE?

• How do I set up ZScreen to upload images to my mediawiki?

  I've set up a mediawiki with all the correct settings and enabled image uploading. When I do this manually this all works OK. I want to be able to upload screenshots automatically into my mediawiki using ZScreen. There is an option to do this: I press Test..., this work OK, however I'm unable to tell ZScreen to to actually get the picture into my mediawiki. There's no option to select mediawiki as my destination. How do I setup zscreen to upload to my mediawiki?

  I'm using munin to monitor my server. I've been able to write plugins for it, but only if the graph type is GAUGE. When I try COUNTER or DERIVE, no data is logged or graphed. If I change DERIVE to GAUGE, it works as expected. munin-run bandwidth2 outputs the contents of /var/log/zen.log I've been all over the (sparse) docs for munin plugins, and can't find my mistake. Modifying an existing plugin didn't work for me either.

• would unexpected power cuts harm the Linux OS?

  I am developing an application on a Linux embedded board (runs Debian) e.g. Raspberry Pi, Beagle Board/Bone, or olimex. The boards works on an environment that the electricity is cut unexpectedly (it is far complicated to place PSU, etc.) and it would happen every day couple times. I wonder if the unexpected power cuts would cause crash/problem on the Linux Operation System? If it is something that I should worry, what would you suggest to prevent the damages on OS against the unexpected power cuts? PS. The application needs to writes some data to the storage medium (SD card), I think it would not be suitable to mount it as read-only.
