  • Lightbox for embeddable JavaScript widget? Like Feedback tabs for UserVoice/GetSatisfaction

    There are so many lightboxes to choose from, I'm looking for a very lightweight one to use in an embedded javascript widget that would be used on a number of different web sites. This would work in a similar way to the GetSatisfaction/UserVoice feedback tab. Here are the requirements for the lightbox: Very small javascript download (animation not needed) Self contained, not dependent on any libraries such as jquery, etc. Works in major browsers Lightbox displays HTML content from a given URL Close button (like GetSatisfaction or UserVoice) Dims background Avoids javascript namespace conflicts (or can easily be made to avoid them) CSS styling of lightbox does not interfere with site styling Have you used an existing lightbox scripts for this same purpose with similar requirements?     Hi. This question isn't about popping up an iframe inside a Lightbox; rather, it's about an iframe on a page that can launch its own Lightbox-style box in the page that contains that iframe. I'm thinking this can't be possible, because the iframe contains the contents of the other URL and whatever Lightbox that URL launches has to fit within the iframe. Thanks.

    Using a lightbox like ColorBox or jQuery Lightbox Plugin how can i make a single link which opens a gallery / array of images? For example i have 1 thumbnail and when a user clicks it i want it to open multiple pictures in the lightbox so the user can click next or previous to view all the pictures within that gallery. My thinking was that i just do it as normal 1 link to 1 picture then use jquery to hide all but the first link. There must be a better way? Thanks.

    I am building my portfolio website simply using HTML, Flash, and the Mootools Javascript framework. I have decided to implement a theme changing feature using Javascript and cookies. When the user clicks on the "Change Theme" link, a mediaboxAdvanced lightbox appears, containing a real-time form which allows you to change the theme on the portfolio.   • Issue with image lightbox and enlargement / Jquery Mobile

    I'm working on a redesign of my weather website using Jquery Mobile. I have it set up so that you drill down through a series of content containers to get to the weather info (each group of info opens in a dialog display). Everything's worked well, but I've run into an issue with my images. I have them sized so that they fit a mobile device's screen nicely, but because of that, when you look at them in a desktop browser, you can't really make out what the image is. I've tried several image lightbox / enlargement solutions, but for some reason, none of them have worked. Either nothing happens or the images open in a new window. I thought that this might be caused by Jquery Mobile somehow overwriting the scripts and css of the lightbox / enlargements I've tried. I'm not completely sure though that this is the case, and if it is, how I can get around it to be able to enlarge the images to their original size, preferably onclick. Here is a working (for the most part - still some kinks to work out) example.   • Has anyone used a rails gem for lightbox functionality? If so which ones?

    Trying to figure out what is the best solution for using lightbox in rails. I have a set up an application that has projects and posts belong_to project. A post can have multiple photos and I am successfully only displaying the first photo in the photos table in the projects show view for each post. I am now trying to allow the user to view the rest of the photos associated with a post through a lightbox feature. Any idea if there is a rails ready solution for something like this?

    I'm looking for an extremely light-weight lightbox for jquery. i'm trying to create my own but i suck and my fist is about to go through the screen.... i'm talking like 5kb or less.. i know it can be done, and if i knew what i was doing i'd do it... but i'm just done for the day. So, does anyone know of one? something just for images, and nothing else, no fancy crap, no extra weight, one that simply centers the lightbox in the center of the screen with whatever picture was loaded by the link. my screen will thank you...

    I want to load the lightbox javascript only when a certain condition is satisfied so I'm loading it using $.ajax like so: $.ajax({ url: "../static/js/lightbox.js", dataType: 'script', cache: true, success: function() { alert('loaded'); $("a.lightbox").lightbox({ opacity: "0.6", width: "940" }); }}); I see the "loaded" alert but the lightbox does not work. However, when I load the file directly (script src) from the HTML, lightbox works. How do I fix this? Many thanks for your help.

  • jQuery action being called when selector isn't met?

    I've been working on a prototype for a client's web site and I've run into a rather significant snag. You can view the prototype here. As you can see, the way it works is you can scroll a set of slides horizontally and, by clicking one, open a stack containing yet more slides. If you then click again on an image in that stack it opens up a lightbox. Clicking on another stack or the close button will close that stack (and open another, as case may be). That all works great. However you get some weird behavior if you do the following: Click to open any stack. Click to open an image's light box (this works best if you click on the image that's level with the main list). Close the light box and the stack either by clicking the close button or clicking on another stack. Click back to the first stack. Instead of reopening the stack, you get the lightbox. This confuses me as the light box should only ever be called if there is a class on the containing UL and that class is removed when the lightbox is closed. I've checked and double-checked this, it's definitely missing. Here are the respective functions: $("ul.hide a.lightbox").live("click",function(){ $("ul.show").removeClass("show").addClass("hide"); $(this).parent().parent().removeClass("hide").addClass("show"); $("ul.hide").animate({opacity: 0.2}); $("ul.show").animate({opacity: 1}); $("#next").animate({opacity: 0.2}); $("#prev").animate({opacity: 0.2}); return false; }); $("ul.show a.lightbox").live("click",function(){ $(this).fancybox().trigger("click"); return false; }); As you can see, in order for the lightbox to be called the containing UL has to have the class of show. However, if you check it with Firebug it won't. For those who are curious, the added .trigger("click"); is because the lightbox will require a double-click to launch otherwise. Any idea how I can fix this?

  • Using JQuery to open a popup window and print

    Hello, A while back I created a lightbox plugin using jQuery that would load a url specified in a link into a lightbox. The code is really simple: $('.readmore').each(function(i){ $(this).popup(); }); and the link would look like this: <a class='readmore' href='view-details.php?Id=11'>TJ Kirchner</a> The plugin could also accept arguments for width, height, a different url, and more data to pass through. The problem I'm facing right now is printing the lightbox. I set it up so that the lightbox has a print button at the top of the box. That link would open up a new window and print that window. This is all being controlled by the lightbox plugin. Here's what that code looks like: $('.printBtn').bind('click',function() { var url = options.url + ( ( options.url.indexOf('?') < 0 && options.data != "" ) ? '?' : '&' ) + options.data; var thePopup = window.open( url, "Member Listing", "menubar=0,location=0,height=700,width=700" ); thePopup.print(); }); The problem is the script doesn't seem to be waiting until the window loads. It wants to print the moment the window appears. As a result, if I click "cancel" to the print dialog box, it'll popup again and again until the window loads. The first time I tried printing I got a blank page. That might be because the window didn't finish load. I need to find a way to alter the previous code block to wait until the window loads and then print. I feel like there should be an easy way to do this, but I haven't found it yet. Either that, or I need to find a better way to open a popup window and print from the lightbox script in the parent window, without alternating the webpage code in the popup window.

    I m a graphic designer and have created a website in Joomla that uses a "lightbox" (ignite gallery) plugin to view images from the site. I have created a facebook 'website' app that allows for comments to be posted via facebook in the lightbox (also a like button) - all of which are really just options that you allow in the ignite gallery options. Everything seems to work fine, I can comment and it will appear under the photo in the lightbox, as I asked it too, it also sends a copy of the comment to the commenter's facebook page with links. How do I also get the comments from the website (lightbox plugin) to also appear on the clients "fan page" that already exists?? Much appreciate any help..

What I would like is an extra arguement that would say: [pseudocode] if (linksRel == "lightbox1") { add stylesheet1 to this lightbox } else { add stylesheet2 to this lightbox } [/pseudocode] Currently, I have a page with a "colorbox.css" file attached and the" jquery.colorbox.js" file as well - But I want the JS file to import the required CSS dependant on what link was clicked...   • Lightbox image / link URL

    Basically I have a slightly non-standard implementation of FancyBox. By default you have to include a link to the large version of the image so that the Lightbox can display it. However, in my implementation, the image link URLs point to a script rather than directly to the image file. So for example, instead of: <a href="mysite/images/myimage.jpg" rel="gallery"> I have: <a href="mysite/photos/view/abc123" rel="gallery"> The above URL points to a function: public function actionPhotos($view) { $photo=Photo::model()->find('name=:name', array(':name'=>$view)); if(!empty($photo)) { $this->renderPartial('_photo', array('photo'=>$photo, true)); } } The "$this-renderPartial()" bit simply calls a layout file which includes a standard HTML tag to output. Now when the user clicks on a thumbnail, the above function is called and the large image is displayed in the Lightbox. Now if the user right clicks on the thumbnail and selects "open in new tab/window" then the image is displayed in the browser as per normal, i.e. just the image. I want to change this so that it displays the image within a layout. In the above code I can include the following and put it in an IF statement: $this->render('photos', array('photo'=>$photo)); This will call the layout file "photos" which contains the layout to display the image in. I have a specific limitation for this - the image URL must remain the same, i.e. no additional GET variables in the URL. However if we can pass in a GET variable in the background then that is OK. I will most likely need to change my function above so that it calls a different file for this functionality. EDIT: To demonstrate exactly what I am trying to do, check out the following: http://www.starnow.co.uk/KimberleyMarren Go to the photos tab and hover over a thumbnail - note the URL. Click the thumbnail and it will open up in the Lightbox. Next right click on that same thumbnail and select "open in new tab/new window". You will notice that the image is now displayed in a layout. So that same URL is used for displaying the image in the Lightbox and on its own page. The way StarNow have done this is using some crazy long JavaScript functionality, which I'm not too keen on replicating.

  • Lightbox close and loading images not showing

    I am using Lightbox 2 and I have followed the short tutorial on how to insert it in a webpage and it works perfectly but the close and refresh images don't show. They are replaced with the classic Mac OS X '?' box. I have checked the paths of these images in the lightbox.js file and they are correct. Thanks in advance!
