  • Google Calendar feed api deleted events

    - by hsmit
I'm syncing the Google Calendar with my application (I store events in a database). When an event is updated I can easily find the last updates by sorting the event feed on the 'updated' order. However, if an event is removed / deleted, how can I track this update from the feed?

  • Don’t be a dinosaur. Use Calendar Tree!

    - by jamiet
If one spends long enough in my company one will likely eventually have to listen to me bark on about subscribable calendars. I was banging on about them way back in 2009, I’ve cajoled SQLBits into providing one, provided one myself for the World Cup, and opined that they could be transformative for the delivery of BI. I believe subscribable calendars can change the world but have never been good at elucidating why I thought so, for that reason I always direct people to read a blog by Scott Adams (yes, the guy who draws Dilbert) entitled Calendar as Filter. In that blog post Scott writes: I think the family calendar is the organizing principle into which all external information should flow. I want the kids' school schedules for sports and plays and even lunch choices to automatically flow into the home calendar. Everything you do has a time dimension. If you are looking for a new home, the open houses are on certain dates, and certain houses that fit your needs are open at certain times. If you are shopping for some particular good, you often need to know the store hours. Your calendar needs to know your shopping list and preferences so it can suggest good times to do certain things I think the biggest software revolution of the future is that the calendar will be the organizing filter for most of the information flowing into your life. You think you are bombarded with too much information every day, but in reality it is just the timing of the information that is wrong. Once the calendar becomes the organizing paradigm and filter, it won't seem as if there is so much. I wholly agree and hence was delighted to discover (via the Hanselminutes podcast) that Scott has a startup called CalendarTree.com whose raison d’etre is to solve this very problem. What better way to describe a Scott Adams startup than with a Scott Adams comic: I implore you to check out Calendar Tree and make the world a tiny bit better by using it to share any information that has a time dimension to it. Don’t be a dinosaur, use Calendar tree! @Jamiet

  • Add Events to Windows Live Calendar in IE 8

    - by Asian Angel
Do you have event dates that you need to make note of while browsing in Internet Explorer? Adding those events to your Live Calendar is easy to do with the Add Events to Windows Live Calendar accelerator. Adding Events to your Live Calendar To add the accelerator click on Add to Internet Explorer and then confirm the installation when the secondary window appears. For our example we chose the “estimated” availability date of Microsoft Office 2010 to the public. At the bottom of the pre-order page we found the date we were looking for. To add an event highlight the desired text (will become event description) and select the Add an Event to Windows Live Calendar listing in the context menu. A new tab will be opened where you can add any relevant details or make final tweaks to the description before saving the event. There is our new calendar event ready to send out a notification e-mail for the Office 2010 release. The Add Events to Windows Live Calendar accelerator speeds up the process of adding events to your calendar by getting you directly to the event form. • Why is Evolution the default mail/calendar package?

    - by Android Eve
Why is Evolution the default mail/calendar package that comes with Ubuntu? Why not Thunderbird + Lightning? Are there any features in Evolution that are not available in Thunderbird + Lightning? Can I use the Evolution database via a Samba network share, on a Windows XP or 7 client, just like I can do with Thunderbird? What happens if I uninstall Evolution from my 10.04 system? Will I lose any integrated functionality built into the system?

  • Google Calendar title displayed incorrectly

    - by Don
Hi, I'm creating 2 Google calendars via the Java client API using the following Groovy method: private CalendarEntry createGoogleCalendar(User user) throws ServiceException { new CalendarEntry().with {calendar -> title = new PlainTextConstruct(user.email) summary = new PlainTextConstruct("Collection calendar for $user.email") timeZone = new TimeZoneProperty("America/Montreal") hidden = HiddenProperty.FALSE def savedCalendar = googleCalendar.insert(CALENDAR_URL, calendar) log.debug "Created calendar with title '$savedCalendar.title.plainText' for '$user.email'" return savedCalendar } } The logs show: CalendarService - Created calendar with title '[email protected]' for '[email protected]' CalendarService - Created calendar with title '[email protected]' for '[email protected]' so it appears that all is well. However when I look at the 1st calendar on the Google website, the title is shown as 7rrrogcupt6ci2k1g1i26t9kc0@group.calendar.google.com, though the summary is correctly shown as Collection calendar for [email protected]. Strangely, the title and summary are both shown correctly tor the 2nd calendar. This only started happening today, and I'm pretty sure the relevant code has not changed. I'm totally stumped....

  • How do I fix a corrupt calendar cache?

    - by Blacklight Shining
I was tailing /var/log/system.log and noticed a sudden wall of text. Looking closer, I saw it was an error CalendarAgent got while trying to save something: Nov 18 11:42:45 rainbow-dash.local CalendarAgent[12321]: CoreData: error: (11) Fatal error. Also, it would probably be a good idea to disable Calendar Agent so it doesn't try to use the database while it's being fixed (that's why I copied it to /tmp before running sqlite3 on it.) How do I disable CalendarAgent and fix its cache?

  • Share Exchange Calendar Outside Organization

    - by CalCurious
I'm trying to figure out the best way to meet a user's (Corp-A-User) request to share their calendar with someone at another company (Corp-B-User). We're running Microsoft SBS 2008 with Exchange 2007 and SharePoint. The remote user is running Exchange, version unknown. Corp-A-User wants to give the Corp-B-User the ability to create appointments on Corp-A-User's calendar. This will naturally require sharing of Free/Busy information. Corp-A-User naturally lacks the vision to seen ANY problem with giving Corp-B-User full access to their calendar. But, I see the problems with that and would prefer that Corp-B-User have only the ability to see Free/Busy and create appointments. Most of the external publishing options that I have thought of, such as WebDav, allow displaying a user's calendar, but there are problems with security and the ability to create appointments. Right now, I'm thinking the cleanest solution would be to use a Google calendar along with Google Calendar Sync for the two user's Outlook clients. But, I'm not sure if there isn't a better way and I hate teh idea of pushing a corporate calendar up to Google. Not to mention the issues likely to pop up from the multiple sync paths. Does any one have a good solution for this scenario that would be willing to share what they use?

I know that start-min and start-max are supposed to limit the output (according to these posts: (links to posts deleted because I am a newbie and can only post one hyperlink argh) BUT I CAN'T GET IT TO WORK. • How to test Calendar Event on emulator?

    - by Pranav
Hi everybody, I am developing an application which requires to add Calendar event. I have written the code for inserting event to the calendar. But whenever i run my application, everytime i get error that "Fail to find provider info for Calendar" and it also throws me NullPointerException error. So, what it means and i found that emulator doesn't provide Calendar application in-built. I think if the Android Emulator doesn't have Calender API, so, naturally, it will not have any database URI in the emulator whereas the Contact has URI --"content://contacts/people". I also found the URI for Calendar as "content://calendar/calendars" but it doesn't work and it means that it gives me error cause of missing Calendar application. Can anybody clarify me, with suggestions regarding Calendar Event? Which is the way to test my application with Calendar Event? I really need your help. Please needful for the same. Thanks. Regards, Pranav

  • Script to check a shared Exchange calendar and then email detail

    - by SJN
We're running Server and Exchange 2003 here. There's a shared calendar which HR keep up-to-date detailing staff who are on leave. I'm looking for a VB Script (or alternate) which will extract the "appointment" titles of each item for the current day and then email the detail to a mail group, in doing so notifying the group with regard to which staff are on leave for the day. The resulting email body should be: Staff on leave today: Mike Davis James Stead @Paul Robichaux - ADO is the way I went for this in the end, here are the key component for those interested: Dim Rs, Conn, Url, Username, Password, Recipient Set Rs = CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset") Set Conn = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") 'Configurable variables Username = "Domain\username" ' AD domain\username Password = "password" ' AD password Url = "file://./backofficestorage/domain.com/MBX/username/Calendar" 'path to user's mailbox and folder Recipient = "[email protected]" Conn.Provider = "ExOLEDB.DataSource" Conn.Open Url, Username, Password Set Rs.ActiveConnection = Conn Rs.Source = "SELECT ""DAV:href"", " & _ " ""urn:schemas:httpmail:subject"", " & _ " ""urn:schemas:calendar:dtstart"", " & _ " ""urn:schemas:calendar:dtend"" " & _ "FROM scope('shallow traversal of """"') " Rs.Open Rs.MoveFirst strOutput = "" Do Until Rs.EOF If DateDiff("s", Rs.Fields("urn:schemas:calendar:dtstart"), date) >= 0 And DateDiff("s", Rs.Fields("urn:schemas:calendar:dtend"), date) < 0 Then strOutput = strOutput & "<p><font size='2' color='black' face='verdana'><b>" & Rs.Fields("urn:schemas:httpmail:subject") & "</b><br />" & vbCrLf strOutput = strOutput & "<b>From: </b>" & Rs.Fields("urn:schemas:calendar:dtstart") & vbCrLf strOutput = strOutput & "&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<b>To: </b>" & Rs.Fields("urn:schemas:calendar:dtend") & "<br /><br />" & vbCrLf End If Rs.MoveNext Loop Conn.Close Set Conn = Nothing Set Rec = Nothing After that, you can do what you like with srtOutput, I happened to use CDO to send an email: Set objMessage = CreateObject("CDO.Message") objMessage.Subject = "Subject" objMessage. From = "[email protected]" objMessage. To = Recipient objMessage.HTMLBody = strOutput objMessage.Send S

  • Outlook 2010 calendar entries categorized but not colored in Exchange environment

    - by isaacgrover
In a small three-user environment running Outlook 2007 on Exchange 2010, all users previously just used one user's calendar as their main calendar. New employee #4 has been set up with his own calendar per the owner's request, they use colored categories for their calendar events, and his categorized activities are not showing up as colored on the other users' Outlook calendars - only his own. What settings should I look at to enable the correct color coding again?

  • Entourage Reminders for events not on calendar

    - by Jon Lasser
After a series of nasty mishaps, I needed to create a new Entourage profile and re-populate my calendar by resynching it with my Exchange Server. Now I'm receiving multiple notifications for a single appointment -- two or even four at once. (Perhaps four is due to the intermediate 'reset' attempts I made before discarding and creating a new profile.) Reviewing my calendar I see only a single appointment, not multiple appointments. Checking my Outlook calendar confirms only a single appointment. My local calendar is completely empty. Is there a separate Entourage database for reminders that I can clear or resync? Is there somewhere else for calendar appointments to live where I'm not looking?

  • Restoring an Exchange 2010 user's calendar without rest of mailbox

    - by AlamedaDad
I am trying to restore a user's calendar from backup, which was deleted by a sync problem on her mobile device. I've been able to restore her mailbox without a problem but I had to link it to a new AD user since she deleted the calendar several days before she reported the problem and the current backups of her account didn't include any calendar events, but all of her current email. I had to restore the mailbox from the day before she deleted everything. I've tried sharing the calendar and opening it in her account, then copying or moving the contents, but I get an error that outlook can't do the task because there are personal items. I tried bringing up the "Recovery User" I created, in Outlook and exporting the calendar events to a .pst, then importing them into the user's real account, but they all get created in a sub-folder called "Recovery User." In case it matters, she's running Outlook 2010 and we're using Exchange 2010 SP1. Thank in advance for help with this problem...Michael

  • Merging multiple Google calendar feeds into one JSON object in javascript

    - by Jeramy
I am trying to bring in the JSON feeds from multiple Google calendars so that I can sort the upcoming events and display the next X number in an "Upcoming Events" list. I have this working with Yahoo! pipes but I want to get away from using a 3rd party to aggregate. I think I am close, but I cannot get the JSON objects created correctly. I am getting the data into the array but not in JSON format, so I can't manipulate it. I have tried var myJsonString = JSON.stringify(JSONData); using https://github.com/douglascrockford/JSON-js but that just threw errors. I suspect because my variable is in the wrong starting format. I have tried just calling the feed like: $.getJSON(url); and creating a function concant1() to do the JSONData=JSONData.concat(data);, but it doesn't fire and I think it would produce the same end result anyway. I have also tried several other methods of getting the end result I want with varying degrees of doom. Here is the closest I have come so far: var JSONData = new Array(); var urllist = ["https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/dg61asqgqg4pust2l20obgdl64%40group.calendar.google.com/public/full?orderby=starttime&max-results=3&sortorder=ascending&futureevents=true&ctz=America/New_York&singleevents=true&alt=json&callback=concant1","https://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/5oc3kvp7lnu5rd4krg2skcu2ng%40group.calendar.google.com/public/full?orderby=starttime&max-results=3&sortorder=ascending&futureevents=true&ctz=America/New_York&singleevents=true&alt=json&callback=concant1","http://www.google.com/calendar/feeds/rine4umu96kl6t46v4fartnho8%40group.calendar.google.com/public/full?orderby=starttime&max-results=3&sortorder=ascending&futureevents=true&ctz=America/New_York&singleevents=true&alt=json&callback=concant1"]; urllist.forEach(function addFeed(url){ alert("The URL being used: "+ url); if (void 0 != JSONData){JSONData=JSONData.concat($.getJSON(url));} else{JSONData = $.getJSON(url);} alert("The count from concantonated JSONData: "+JSONData.length); }); document.write("The final count from JSONData: "+JSONData.length+"<p>"); console.log(JSONData) UPDATE: Now with full working source!! :) If anyone would like to make suggestions on how to improve the code's efficiency it would be gratefully accepted. I hope others find this useful.: // GCal MFA - Google Calendar Multiple Feed Aggregator // Useage: GCalMFA(CIDs,n); // Where 'CIDs' is a list of comma seperated Google calendar IDs in the format: id@group.calendar.google.com, and 'n' is the number of results to display. // While the contained console.log(); outputs are really handy for testing, you will probably waant to remove them for regular usage // Author: Jeramy Kruser - http://jeramy.kruser.me //onerror=function (d, f, g){alert (d+ "\n"+ f+ "\n");} if (!window.console) {console = {log: function() {}};} document.body.className += ' js-enabled'; // Global variables var urllist = []; var maxResults = 3; // The default is 3 results unless a value is sent var JSONData = {}; var eventCount = 0; var errorLog = ""; JSONData = { count: 0, value : { description: "Aggregates multiple Google calendar feeds into a single sorted list", generator: "StackOverflow communal coding - Thanks for the assist Patrick M", website: "http://jeramy.kruser.me", author: "Jeramy & Kasey Kruser", items: [] }}; // For putting dates from feed into a format that can be read by the Date function for calculating event length. function parse (str) { // validate year as 4 digits, month as 01-12, and day as 01-31 str = str.match (/^(\d{4})(0[1-9]|1[0-2])(0[1-9]|[12]\d|3[01])$/); if (str) { // make a date str[0] = new Date ( + str[1], + str[2] - 1, + str[3]); // check if month stayed the same (ie that day number is valid) if (str[0].getMonth () === + str[2] - 1) { return str[0]; } } return undefined; } //For outputting to HTML function output() { var months, day_in_ms, summary, i, item, eventlink, title, calendar, where, dtstart, dtend, endyear, endmonth, endday, startyear, startmonth, startday, endmonthdayyear, eventlinktitle, startmonthday, length, curtextval, k; // Array of month names from numbers for page display. months = {'0':'January', '1':'February', '2':'March', '3':'April', '4':'May', '5':'June', '6':'July', '7':'August', '8':'September', '9':'October', '10':'November', '11':'December'}; // For use in calculating event length. day_in_ms = 24 * 60 * 60 * 1000; // Instantiate HTML Arrays. summary = []; for (i = 0; i < maxResults; i+=1 ) { //console.log("i: "+i+" < "+"maxResults: "+ maxResults); if (!(JSONData.value.items[i] === undefined)) { item = JSONData.value.items[i]; // Grabbing data for each event in the feed. eventlink = item.link[0]; title = item.title.$t; // Only display the calendar title if there is more than one calendar = ""; if (urllist.length > 1) { calendar = '<br />Calendar: <a href="https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=' + item.gd$who[0].email + '&ctz=America/New_York">' + item.author[0].name.$t + '<\/a> (<a href="https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/' + item.gd$who[0].email + '/public/basic.ics">iCal<\/a>)'; } // Grabbing event location, if entered. if ( item.gd$where[0].valueString !== "" ) { where = '<br />' + (item.gd$where[0].valueString); } else { where = (""); } // Grabbing start date and putting in form YYYYmmdd. • Ubuntu 13.10 change first weekday to Monday in calendar applet

    - by wonderingapple
Before the update (I was using 13.04), editing: sudo gedit /etc/default/locale so that LC_TIME="en_GB.UTF-8" does the job. However in 13.10, this does not work anymore. I've tried editing: sudo gedit /usr/share/i18n/locales/en_AU sudo gedit /usr/share/i18n/locales/en_GB sudo gedit /usr/share/i18n/locales/en_US so that first_weekday 2 in each of the files, but this also does not work. As a reference, when I run locale, the output is LANG=en_AU.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=en_AU:en LC_CTYPE="en_AU.UTF-8" LC_NUMERIC=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_TIME=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_COLLATE="en_AU.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_MESSAGES="en_AU.UTF-8" LC_PAPER=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_NAME=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_ADDRESS=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_TELEPHONE=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_MEASUREMENT=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_IDENTIFICATION=en_AU.UTF-8 LC_ALL= Please help.

  • Difference between JodaTime and Calendar for years before 1900

    - by Yury Khrol
I'm getting different values in milliseconds for the same date in past while using JodaTime lib and java.util.Calendar. For example for the first year AD void test() { int year = 1; DateTime dt = new DateTime(year, 1,1,0,0,0,0); dt = dt.toDateTime(GregorianChronology.getInstance()); Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance(); cal.clear(); cal.set(year, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0); DateTime endDate = new DateTime(cal.getTimeInMillis()); endDate = endDate.toDateTime(GregorianChronology.getInstance()); System.out.println("JodaTime: " + dt); System.out.println("JodaTime, ms: " + dt.getMillis()); System.out.println("Calendar: " + cal.getTime()); System.out.println("Calendar, ms: " + cal.getTimeInMillis()); System.out.println("JodaTime by Calendar: " + endDate); } By default DateTime use ISOChronology and Calendar is GregorianCalendar (except TH and JA locales). So I set GregorianChronology, but nothing changed. Result of execution is JodaTime: 0001-01-01T00:00:00.000+01:34:52 JodaTime, ms: -62135602492000 Calendar: Sat Jan 01 00:00:00 EET 1 Calendar, ms: -62135776800000 JodaTime by Calendar: 0000-12-29T23:34:52.000+01:34:52 Could someone suggest am I wrong with something?

  • Java calendar day_of_week not working

    - by Raptrex
    I have a for loop starting at startTime going up to endTime and I would like it to print out the date if it is either a monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday, or friday. Currently, it is only printing out the endTime date. The other stuff splits the string, which you can ignore. Since 5/16/2010 is a sunday, it should print out 17,18,19,20,21, 24 and 25. However it only prints 25 import java.util.*; public class test { public static void main(String[] args) { String startTime = "5/16/2010 11:44 AM"; String endTime = "5/25/2010 12:00 PM"; GregorianCalendar startCal = new GregorianCalendar(); startCal.setLenient(true); String[] start = splitString(startTime); //this sets year, month day startCal.set(Integer.parseInt(start[2]),Integer.parseInt(start[0])-1,Integer.parseInt(start[1])); startCal.set(GregorianCalendar.HOUR, Integer.parseInt(start[3])); startCal.set(GregorianCalendar.MINUTE, Integer.parseInt(start[4])); if (start[5].equalsIgnoreCase("AM")) { startCal.set(GregorianCalendar.AM_PM, 0); } else { startCal.set(GregorianCalendar.AM_PM, 1); } GregorianCalendar endCal = new GregorianCalendar(); endCal.setLenient(true); String[] end = splitString(endTime); endCal.set(Integer.parseInt(end[2]),Integer.parseInt(end[0])-1,Integer.parseInt(end[1])); endCal.set(GregorianCalendar.HOUR, Integer.parseInt(end[3])); endCal.set(GregorianCalendar.MINUTE, Integer.parseInt(end[4])); if (end[5].equalsIgnoreCase("AM")) { endCal.set(GregorianCalendar.AM_PM, 0); } else { endCal.set(GregorianCalendar.AM_PM, 1); } for (int i = startCal.get(Calendar.DATE); i < endCal.get(Calendar.DATE); i++) { if (startCal.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_WEEK) == Calendar.MONDAY || startCal.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_WEEK) == Calendar.TUESDAY || startCal.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_WEEK) == Calendar.WEDNESDAY || startCal.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_WEEK) == Calendar.THURSDAY || startCal.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_WEEK) == Calendar.FRIDAY) { startCal.set(Calendar.DATE, i); System.out.println(startCal.get(Calendar.DATE)); } } } private static String[] splitDate(String date) { String[] temp1 = date.split(" "); // split by space String[] temp2 = temp1[0].split("/"); // split by / //5/21/2010 10:00 AM return temp2; // return 5 21 2010 in one array } private static String[] splitTime(String date) { String[] temp1 = date.split(" "); // split by space String[] temp2 = temp1[1].split(":"); // split by : //5/21/2010 10:00 AM String[] temp3 = {temp2[0], temp2[1], temp1[2]}; return temp3; // return 10 00 AM in one array } private static String[] splitString(String date) { String[] temp1 = splitDate(date); String[] temp2 = splitTime(date); String[] temp3 = new String[6]; return dateFill(temp3, temp2[0], temp2[1], temp2[2], temp1[0], temp1[1], temp1[2]); } private static String[] dateFill(String[] date, String hours, String minutes, String ampm, String month, String day, String year) { date[0] = month; date[1] = day; date[2] = year; date[3] = hours; date[4] = minutes; date[5] = ampm; return date; } private String dateString(String[] date) { //return month+" "+day+", "+year+" "+hours+":"+minutes+" "+ampm //5/21/2010 10:00 AM return date[3]+"/"+date[4]+"/ "+date[5]+" "+date[0]+":"+date[1]+" "+date[2]; } }

  • Which PHP calendar will suit my needs? Or build my own?

    - by John
There are so many web based calendars out there that I'm not sure which will best suit my purposes. I want to create an events calendar, which I suppose looks and functions in much the same way as google calendar. But users shouldn't need to sign up for a gmail account or a google account. Users of my social network website should be able to create events in the calendar and share it with other friends in their "friend network". In month, year or day views, you can mouse hover events to see a bubble dialog that lists events in detail. People need to pay a monthly fee to use my website (not sure if this prevents me from using google apps). So is something like Google Calendar the way to go? Or are there other php/javascript calendars out there that already meet my needs? Or will it just save me more time to build my own?
