• Windows 7 gadgets changing place when I move from dual monitor to a single one

  Hi, I am using Windows 7 on my laptop. At the office, I have a dual monitor setup through my docking station while at home or during meetings I use my laptop with its single monitor. Whenever I move between these two setups, Windows 7 plays with the location of the gadgets I have and I need to rearrange them each time. Is there a way to tell it to store these settings and locations (both gadgets and icons) so that it will remember their placement on the dual monitor setup and it will remember a different placement for the single monitor setup?

  I have a word document containing images and tables. These have captions which are numbered, like "Image 1-Example of something". Later on I decided to rearrange some of chapters of my document. However numbering of objects remained the same, so the first image is image 8, the second is image 3, etc. I want to force Word to recompute image numbering so first image in document would be image 1, the second - image 2, etc. Is that possible? Will references (added through cross reference feature) to those objects be updated?

• Windows 7 automatically rearranges the start menu

  I've seen so many messages on how to rearrange the Windows Start Menu and none mentioning the real problem in doing so which has been around since XP at least. I go to ProgramData/Microsoft/Windows/Start Menu and have a day making everything the way I want. For one thing, their Maintenance menu, the Accessories menu and the Administrative Tools menu, I like to put under a Tools folder that I've created. And they seem to move OK. However, within a few hours, I see some of the shortcuts have been moved back or copied back and a new copy of these folders suddenly appears again on my Start Menu at the root. This is maddening and no one seems to even notice in all the tutorials I've read. Anyone know how to change this behavior?

  Considering to switch to dvorak layout, but this terminal is used by multi users as the same user account. It is unacceptable to ask all people to switch layout, plus it is hard to use dvorak layout with a keyboard qwerty-ly labeled. But there are spare (USB,qwerty) keyboards, so if I plug another keyboard in and be able to use multi layouts on different psyical keyboard simultaneously (I will rearrange letters on keys), the problem get solved. solution for either windows or linux is fine. anyway thanks all.

• Can't connect to web-server on local host behind NAT

  I got Ubuntu as host. I'm running a web-server on http://192.168.199.8:80. It is accessible from the local network, but when I'm trying to reach it by external IP, I go to my router's web-page. I arranged port forwarding on router for port 80 to my local IP 192.168.199.8. Unfortunately web-server is still unavailable via external IP. I checked whether the port is open via http://www.canyouseeme.org/. As it showed that the port is unavailable, I changed port used to 3659 (not forget to rearrange port forwarding rule). Although http://www.canyouseeme.org/ shows that port 3659 is open, I still can't reach my web-server. Where can the problem be?

• Chrome window controls in xubuntu 12.04

  I'm a long time ubuntu 10.04 LTS user, very used to having window controls on top left borders. New computer with new video card requires newer kernel. Unity doesn't suit and much googling turned up recommendations for xubuntu. Installed 12.04 and first aggravation is window controls at upper right a la Windows. No problem ... Settings Manager - Windows Manager - rearrange button layout Fixes everything until ... I abandoned firefox long ago because of memory leak issues and general fat. I fetch a current version of chrome (19.0.1084.52) and install. Once adblock is added and it's the default browser, everything's great. Except ... Alone among all applications, chrome will not honour the window manager's preferred button layout. Buttons are at upper right no matter what I try. Uninstall and then reinstall: nope. Trawl through /home/user/.config/google-chrome/* looking for a likely setting: nope. Search the web: nothing useful. How do I get chrome's window decoration in sync? Thanks very much for any and all help.

• Rope Colliding with a Rectangle

  I have my rope, and I have my rectangles. The rope is similar to the implementation found here: http://nehe.gamedev.net/tutorial/rope_physics/17006/ Now, I want to make the rope properly collide with the rectangle such that the rope will not pass through a rectangle, and wrap around the rectangle and all that good stuff. Currently, I have it set so no rope node can pass through a rect (successfully), however, this means a rope segment can still pass through a block. Ex: So the question is, what can I do to fix this? What I have tried: I create a rectangle between two nodes of a rope, calculate rotation between the nodes, and get myself a transformed rectangle. I can successfully detect a collision between rope segments and a (non-transformed) rectangle. Create a new node or pivot point around the corner of the block, and rearrange nodes to point to the corner node. Trouble is determining what corner the rope segment is passing through. And then the current rope setup goes wonky (based on verlet integration, so a sudden change in position causes the rope to wiggle like a seismograph during a magnitude 8 earth quake.) Among other issues that might be solvable, but its turning into a case by case thing, which doesn't seem right. I think the best answer here would just be a link to a tutorial (I simply can't find any, most lead to box2D or farseer, but I want to at least learn how it works before I hide behind an engine).

• Efficiently rendering to 3D texture

  I have an existing depth texture and some other color textures, and want to process the information in them by rendering to a 3D texture (based on the depth contained in the depth texture, i.e. a point at (x/y) in the depth texture will be rendered to (x/y/texture(depth,uv)) in the 3D texture). Simply doing one manual draw call for each slice of the 3D texture (via glFramebufferTextureLayer) is terribly slow, since I don't know beforehand to what slice of the 3D texture a given texel from one of the color textures or the depth texture belongs. This means the entire process is effectively for each slice for each texel in depth texture process color textures and render to slice So I have to sample the depth texture completely per each slice, and I also have to go through the processing (at least until to discard;) for all texels in it. It would be much faster if I could rearrange the process to for each texel in depth texture figure out what slice it should end up in process color textures and render to slice Is this possible? If so, how? What I'm actually trying to do: the color textures contain lighting information (as seen from light view, it's a reflective shadow map). I want to accumulate that information in the 3D texture and then later use it to light the scene. More specifically I'm trying to implement Cryteks Light Propagation Volumes algorithm.

  I need to take an array of three lines in a text file and sort them base on the first line in Java. I also need to manipulate this as well and then print to screen. I have a test file that is formatted like this: 10 Michael Jackson 12 Richard Woolsey I need to input this from a text file and then rearrange it based on the number associated with the name. At that point, I need to use a random number generator and assign a variable based on the random number to each name. Then I need to print to screen the variable I added and the name in a different format. Here is an example of the output: 12: Woolsey, Richard Variable assigned 10: Jackson, Michael Other variable assigned I highly appreciate any help.   I have a tab-based iPhone app where I want to increase the perceived start-up speed with a launch image. As defined by the iPhone HIG, the launch image is a screenshot of your app (called Default.png) that is displayed immediately and looks very similar to the app's first screen (e.g., the screenshot of an empty table when the app displays a table first). Now the problem with a tab-based app is that users can rearrange the order of tabs so that any of the tabs may be the first tab to show upon launch. I think I read somewhere that you can't change the Default.png programmatically in your app, but I couldn't find that in the HIG (and the "Clock" app seems to do exactly that - having one launch image per tab). So, how do provide a launch image for a tab-based app?

  I am trying to compile an application using qmake that is using pkg-config to bring in yaml-cpp. Unlike using pkg-config through the terminal qmake which is formatted like: pkg-config --libs --cflags yaml-cpp qmake actually spits out the include paths inside the make command like this: -I/usr/local/include/yaml-cpp This include path breaks subsequent includes which I've set in my qmake file. It's not possible for me to rearrange these includes due the order in which qmake parses its variables. Is it possible using qmake to escape the quote somehow or to make it use the first quoted configuration?

  UITabBarController with UINavigationController "more" tab issue There is a problem with using UINavigationController in UITabBarController. I have a TabBar  with 6 items. Of course, a standart item "more" appears, and there are two UINavigationControllers that didn't fit in a TabBar. The core of the problem is: when I'm working with visible items (a first four), UIViewController can be pushed  in an UINavigationController: [self.navigationController pushViewController:userDataViewController animated:YES]; If you call on in "more" and rearrange items in such way, that a visible UINavigationController gets into "more", when calling on it userDataViewController appears.  This  userDataViewController is the last, which has got in a stack and a Back button leads back to "more", but not to the controllers, that were before a userDataViewController appeared. I understand that in fact a selector pushViewController is called from "more", and it pushes my UINavigationController in a stack, and it's not good. Maybe, someone has faced such problem and could help me to solve it? Thank you forward.

  So I have a custom class Foo that has a number of members: @interface Foo : NSObject { NSString *title; BOOL taken; NSDate *dateCreated; } And in another class I have an NSMutableArray containing a list of these objects. I would very much like to sort this array based on the dateCreated property; I understand I could write my own sorter for this (iterate the array and rearrange based on the date) but I was wondering if there was a proper Objective-C way of achieving this? Some sort of sorting mechanism where I can provide the member variable to sort by would be great. In C++ I used to overload the < = operators and this allowed me to sort by object, but I have a funny feeling Objective-C might offer a nicer alternative? Many thanks

Inside each board there are m number of figures (purple divs). Each of these user can move inside the board or to another board, re-size, change color and label, delete, add new. The goal of the game is not important, but let's say it is to rearrange figures in a certain way so that they disappear. But the goal of the programmer is to save the whole game surface in the database for every user of the site, and to load it later when he returns.   I want to build a user-interface that, for historical reasons, has a lot of "columns" of information. Many of these aren't relevant for all users in all cases, so I thought I'd look at dock panels to allow the users to hide or rearrange the columns according to their job scenario. This is Winforms in .NET 3.5. As such, I'd like the following: Have tab-pages in the main form Each tab-page can have dock-panels docked into them Dock-panels should be movable from one tab-page to another I've tried the following component packages so far without luck: Telerik Allows me to dock inside a tab-page, but dock-panels can't move from one tab-page to another. When attempting to drop a floating panel onto a different tab-page than the one it came from, it appears the dock will succeed, but when dropped it is docked on its owner container. Divelements SandDoc Same problems as with Telerik. DevExpress XtraBars Same problems as with Telerik. Basically, does anyone know of any such component (package) that would allow me to do what I want?

  I have an FAQ in HTML (example) in which the questions refer to each other a lot. That means whenever we insert/delete/rearrange the questions, the numbering changes. LaTeX solves this very elegantly with \label and \ref -- you give items simple tags and LaTeX worries about converting to numbers in the final document. How do people deal with that in HTML? ADDED: Note that this is no problem if you don't have to actually refer to items by number, in which case you can set a tag with <a name="foo"> and then link to it with <a href="#foo">some non-numerical way to refer to foo</a>. But I'm assuming "foo" has some auto-generated number, say from an <ol> list, and I want to use that number to refer to and link to it.

  i have a table with some columns. in each of them is a picture where i have a onmouseover onmouseout event on it, which show a message in a div and hide the msg. my problem is - after a user goes quick from left to right (and moving) over a lot o images. all mouseover/out events of the images where executed, which looks stupid... is it possible to rearrange the internal event stack to avoid this? so that he executes only the current (mostly the first event) - and than the last one, if it is not same type eg. if mouseover over first image is executed and mouse moving position stops over an image 3times next the first one. i can avoid all other events firing, because the mouse stopped over an image and the mouseover is like the one where i stopped with the mouse. how can i avoid this multiple event firing?!

  On the iPhone, if you touch and hold your finger on an icon, it starts vibrating, then you can drag them around while the other icons move aside and rearrange dynamically. I'm trying to figure out how to do this inside an application with a grid of images or buttons. I don't need them to vibrate, but I do want the UI to allow the user to drag them with real-time dynamic reordering and then return the new position (ie, an int for accessing a mutable array).   Hey guys, I'm working on a google app engine (with Django) and I just can't figure out what's a good practice for folder hierarchy.. I've looked at this: Project structure for Google App Engine but one thing isn't clear - what if I have static folder (like js files) that are unique to my app, not project? where do they go? my current hierarchy is: proj static ** js ** css myapp ** templates So when a template inside my app sends a GET for js/script.js. this gets redirected to /myapp/js/script.js, which my server doesn't recognize. here is my project url.py: urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^myapp/', include('myapp.urls')), ) and here is my myapp.urls.py: urlpatterns = patterns('myapp.views', (r'^$', 'myapp.views.index'), ) how should I rearrange this to work? thanks!

The operation is defined as follows: Given a position i and a position j the operation moves the number at position i to position j without altering the relative order of the other numbers. If i j, the positions of the numbers between positions j and i - 1 increment by 1, otherwise if i < j the positions of the numbers between positions i+1 and j decreases by 1. This operation requires i steps to find a number to move and j steps to locate the position to which you want to move it. Then the number of steps required to move a number of position i to position j is i+j. Design an algorithm that given a list of numbers, determine the optimal(in terms of cost) sequence of moves to rearrange the sequence.

The problem is that I have three different menu setups throughout the site - the header split into two sections and the footer divided into a couple of columns.   Greetings to all! There is a necessity to turn part of EAR (namely - war) into OSGI bundle and retain it's interoperability. Glassfish 3.0.1 already has osgi-web-container module and I succeeded to deploy standalone OSGI war. But in case of of ex-enterprise war it looks a bit difficult to me. What do I do with EJB calls from inside future OSGI war? Is it enough to replace @EJB injections with true JNDI lookups? What about APIs and libraries shared across EAR? I could split and rearrange them, but still I will have at least one jar needed by both EAR and OSGI war. Duplicate, make it as OSGI-bundle itself and make it available to ear somehow, place it GF domain's library path? Any other ideas, advices which could make that hybrid working?
