  • Win7: Always remember UAC choice for an application

    I have some applications that I open from time to time, and I always get this UAC message with Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer? Is there a way I can mark a single program so that won't ask me that again? Like, I think it is good that it asks me the first time, but some programs I do launch more often, and I am ok with them making changes and don't want to be asked all the time.

  • Remember Snow Leopard Firewall settings

    I've got the firewall enabled on my Snow Leopard installation, and it works just fine, except for with EyeTV. Every time I run this app, a popup appears asking if I want to allow it access to the network, even though I've got it added in the application list for allowed apps. Any ideas how I can stop this from asking and just let it be given access?

  • Firefox will not remember local site cookie

    This is a weird one. We have a production server (Server 2008) and two staging servers (Server 2008 and Server 2003) I have sites on all of these. They all use cookies. On the Production server when browsing to our site www.supernovainteractive.com there is a cookie that detects when you visted the site and it will not refresh the logo animation (top left hand side) on clicking to another page. This works for all browsers on the production server. I’m not sure what’s going on but for some reason cookies are not working on one site in the 2008 staging server only. This is when browsing using Firefox (3.6.3) they work fine on all other browsers (IE, Chrome, Safari, Opera) In addition, the 2003 staging server works fine. You can test on the Supernova Interactive site by noticing the logo in the top left corner. It uses a cookie to detect if you’ve already seen the animation. Once you’ve seen it once, it doesn’t animate again until tomorrow. Currently, it’s animating every time. I have opened an outside facing port so others can see the issue. Http://exchange.supernova.com:10009 Any ideas on this one? Firewalls are off on the server. Notice you do not get a cookie from Exchange.supernova.com.

  • Saving Photoshop workspace doesn't remember docked panel state

    A friend of mine has recently setup his computer with a fresh install of Windows 7 and Photoshop CS5. He's having a strange issue with saved workspaces not remembering the state of docked panels. As an example, he's docked several panels on the right of the screen. The Layers panel is docked but is open, showing all layers in the document. If he saves this as a workspace, closes and reopens Photoshop and loads the workspace, the Layers panel is docked but is closed. It's not the only panel this is happening with. It's not a big problem but he's having to open 4 panels and drag them to the appropriate height each time he starts Photoshop. Does anyone know of a possible fix for this? Any insight would be great.

  • Can Windows XP remember file icon position?

    Windows allows you to arrange icons however you like in a window. However after some time when I go back to the window, it has forgotten the icon positions and has completely rearranged the icons. Is there a way to preserve the icon positions? In the previous version of Windows I used, this would happen on rare occasions (about 6 months) and it might only move a couple of icons. Now it is happening practically every day and it is every single icon. Attempts to rearrange them manually are futile and it is increasingly maddening. Searching Google, I have found a number of programs that allow you to save and restore icon position on the desktop. But, this is just a regular folder window so I am not sure if any of those would even work. Some details: Windows XP SP 3 running in Parallels 5 virtual machine Auto Arrange and Align to Grid are NOT turned on Fresh OS install and only setting icon positions in one window

  • How to make quicksilver remember custom trigger

    I am trying to make a custom trigger for my shell/apple script file to run so I can just launch my dev environment at the push of a button. So basically: I have a shell script(and some apple script included) in ~ named start_server.sh which does 3 things: start up solr server start up memcached start up script/server I have a saved quicksilver command(.qs) that opens up start_server.sh(so start_server.sh, then the action is "Run in Terminal") I created a custom trigger that calls this saved qs command. I did that then tested it and it works. I then tried to double check it so I quit quicksilver and when I checked the triggers it just said: "Open (null)" as the action. I set the trigger again and when i restarted QS the same thing happened again. I don't know why but my old custom trigger to open terminal has worked since forever so why doesn't this one work?     Well, I have some problems with procrastination and whatnot, but those get infinitely worse, when I cannot remember what I should be doing. I mean, I know my project, I wrote 100% of the code so far, and I knew more or less what I was doing, but I don't remember exactly what, I don't remember what file I was editing and why. How I get back on track? (because right now my technique of opening the source code and staring at it is not working)

  • Spring Security - Persistent Remember Me Issue

    I've been trying to track down why Spring Security isn't creating the Spring Security remember me cookie (SPRING_SECURITY_REMEMBER_ME_COOKIE). At first glance, the logs make it seem like the login is failing, but the login is actually successful in the sense that if I navigate to a page that requires authentication I am not redirected back to the login page. However, the logs appear to be saying the login credentials are invalid. I'm using Spring 3.0.1, Spring Security 3.0.1, and Google App Engine 1.3.1. Any ideas as to what is going on?   • Can't remember the website for downloading common tools after reinstall

    I remember a while back finding a website for downloading lots of common tools in one go after a system reinstall. It had a dark background and checkboxes for selecting the tools (browsers, editors, readers, im clients, etc.). After selecting the tools it downloaded a file which went away, downloaded everything you'd selected and then performed an install on each of the different apps. Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

  • Remember (persist) the filter, sort order and current page of jqGrid

    My application users asked if it were possible for pages that contain a jqGrid to remember the filter, sort order and current page of the grid (because when they click a grid item to carry out a task and then go back to it they'd like it to be "as they left it") Cookies seem to be the way forward, but how to get the page to load these and set them in the grid before it makes its first data request is a little beyond me at this stage. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing with jqGrid? Thanks!

  • Remember the values entered on standalone app on the client side

    We have a standalone java swing app, in which the user can print something that he drew, on a printer by giving its IP. Now the requirement is that the app needs to remember the ip that was given the last time by this user. What I could think of till now is (a brute one though) - keep a log file kind of storage on the client machine, and that everytime the app comes up it reads the last submitted one. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
