  • Firefox extension to save tabs?

    I'm looking for some Firefox (4 or 5) extension to save a group of tabs (better if can be done directly in Panorama view). What I mean by "Save tabs" is not to restore them when Firefox starts. I always have the browser opened and a LOT of tabs (work and personal life related) eating my RAM. So when I'm not working, I would want a way to save those tabs but keep them closed while I still use Firefox. So when I have to start working again, I will restore that saved tabs back again. I know I could use something like Read It Later, but I really need a way to say "hey, save this group of tabs and close them". RIL makes me do it per tab, which is annoying since I'm used to have A LOT.

  • Opera: closed window w/many tabs, window still open w/one tab, how to retrieve the many tabs

    This is a little recipe for a little disaster: accidentally close a window with many important tabs open, only to find out that another window is still active with one tab open. Closing it will overwrite the saved tabs of the other window, which I want to recover. I need to recover the window with "many tabs" if possible,I didn't yet close the window with the one tab open, hopefully that prevents overwriting the saved settings. How do I retrieve, now that Opera is still active, the tabs of the closed window? I.e., where would Opera normally store these tabs when it closes a window? Can I prevent it from overwriting the saved state of "many tabs" with the current "one tab"?

    Hi all, I had installed rubygems 1.8 and further on I had installed the rails 2.0.2 gem. When I tried to view the rails version installed through the command rails -v It didn't work..     I just ran these two commands: sudo gem install rails --pre sudo gem install railties --pre Now when I run rails myapp, I get this: -bash: /usr/local/bin/rails: No such file or directory Here's some system info: $ ruby -v ruby 1.8.7 (2009-06-12 patchlevel 174) [i686-darwin9.7.0] $ sudo gem update --system Updating RubyGems Nothing to update I tried copy/pasting the bin/rails file into /usr/local/bin/rails, and changing permissions to sudo chmod 755 /usr/local/bin/rails, but that doesn't work. Any ideas how to get up and running?

    Hi I am building a ROR development environment on a new computer with windows 7, now I have Ruby version 2.0.0 and Gems version 2.2.2 installed. Which version of Rails should I install? I saw this on rubyonrails.org/download : "We recommend Ruby 2.1.0 for use with Rails. We stopped supporting Ruby 1.8.x after Rails 3.2. Ruby 1.9.2+ will be supported until Rails 5." I will be working on a long-time project, I'm just trying to lessen the headaches I will have later. Right now, the latest Rails -v is 4.1.0 and they recommend Ruby 2.1.0 for use with Rails. I think the best option is to go with this set. Any other thoughts?

  • 500 error with deploying rails application via apache2+passenger

    I finally completed my own app, so the only work left is deploying the app. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and apache2(installed by apt-get), so I'm trying to deploy through passenger. I installed passenger gem like this: sudo gem install passenger rvmsudo passenger-install-apache2-module and I configured apache settings as what the installation message says. I added below lines in the middle of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf file. LoadModule passenger_module /home/admin/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.3-p194/gems/passenger-3.0.17/ext/apache2/mod_passenger.so PassengerRoot /home/admin/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.3-p194/gems/passenger-3.0.17 PassengerRuby /home/admin/.rvm/wrappers/ruby-1.9.3-p194/ruby and, I appended below lines in /etc/apache2/sites-available/default file. <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName localhost # !!! Be sure to point DocumentRoot to 'public'! DocumentRoot /home/admin/homepage/public <Directory /home/admin/homepage/public> # This relaxes Apache security settings. AllowOverride all # MultiViews must be turned off. Options -MultiViews </Directory> But when I restart the apache service and hit the address, 500 error occurs. At first, it was same 500 error but the 500 error page is from apache's, but when I reinstalled the libapache2-module-passenger, the 500 error page is changed to that from rails'. Because of rails' 500 error page(which is located at public/500.html), I think passenger module is properly connected with apache. What should I do to fix this problem? Do I need to configure something inside my app before deployment?

    I've recently convinced my management that our outdated version of Rails is slowing us down enough to warrant an upgrade. The approach we're taking is to start a fresh project with current technology rather than a painful upgrade. Our requirements for the project have changed and this will be much easier. The biggest problem is actually that my knowledge of Rails is out of date. I've dealt only with Rails 1.2.4 while the rest of the world has moved on long ago. What topics have I missed by being buried in my work instead of keeping up with the current Rails fashion? I'm hesitant to dig through blogs at random because I'm not sure how much has changed between the intervening versions of Rails. It's no use to learn Rails 2.1-2.3 specific stuff that is no longer useful for Rails 3.

  • Combine 3 select fields and validate as one in my User model in ruby on rails 3

    Ok I have 3 select boxes for selecting date of birth. I have constants setup in my User model to provide months, years etc.. Anyway I can successfully validate these select boxes separately. What I want to do is combine the :day, :month and :year and store in :birthday and validate the whole date as one so I can return 1 error rather than 3 separate ones. Also doing this will make it easier to store the validated date in my birthday field in my database.     I want to upgrade an application from Rails 2.3.14 to Rails 3. My question is which version of 3 should I go for? Should I go straight to the latest 3.2.2? Or should I go to a 3.0 version first? I have already looked at various railscasts and used the rails upgrade gem, but most of the documentation is from some time ago when rails 3.0 was latest version. Is there any reason not to go straight to 3.2.2?

Initially i was able to execute the application in the browser by typing localhost:3000 in the address bar, but then I deleted the folder tickets from my hard disk. I did every thing I am required to do for upgrading and when I start the rails server using rails server it gives me this Please switch to Ruby 1.9's standard CSV library. It's FasterCSV plus support for Ruby 1.9's m17n encoding engine. I am using ruby-1.9.2-p0 and have fastercsv (1.5.3) gem installed. with the help of puts statements, i was able to track down where the error occurred. i found that the execution stops at this line Bundler.require(:default, Rails.env) if defined?(Bundler) in application.rb file. I tried many things but none worked .. please help..

    I have several separate Rails 2 applications which share the same cookie. I upgraded one the applications to Rails 3.2.15 now. Mandatory secret_token in Rails 3 makes it impossible to share the session with the Rails 2 apps. I am storing the session in Redis. What the visitor only gets in the cookie is a session ID. With this in place, if I access the url "/Forums" It loads the forum content in the Blog tab first, trigger the ajax load of the Blog tab and replace the content with the blog content. I tried putting a different placeholder for each tab, but that didn't fix everything either, since when loading "/Forums" it will sure load the forum tab, but the Blog tab will show up first. Furthermore, when using separate placeholders, If I load the "/Blogs" url, It will first load the content statically in the Blog contentplaceholder and then trigger an ajax call to load it a second time and replace it. If I just link the tab to the hashtag, then when loading the forum tabs, I won't get the blog content... How would you achieve the expected behaviour? I feel like I might have a deeper probelm in the organization of my views. Is putting the tabs in the masterpage the way to go? Maybe I should just hijax the links manually and not rely on jquery-ui tabs to do the work for me. I cannot load all tabs by default and display them using the hash tags, I need an ajax loading because it is a search process that can be long. So to sum up : /Forum should load the forum tab, and let the other tabs be loaded with an ajax call when clicking on it. /Twitter should load the twitter tab and let the other tabs.... the same goes for /Blogs and any tabs I would add later.
