  • How to use Nhibernate Validator + NHib component + ddl

    - by mynkow
    I just configured my NHibValidator. My NHibernate creates the DB schema. When I set MaxLenght="20" to some property of a class then in the database the length appears in the database column. I am doing this in the NHibValidator xml file. But the problem is that I have components and cannot figure out how to achieve this behaviour. The component is configured correctly in the Customer.hbm.xml file. EDIT: Well, I found that Hibernate Validator users had the same problem two years ago. http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HV-25 Is this an issue for NHibernate Validator or it is fixed. If it is working tell me how please. ----------------------------------------------------- public class Customer { public virtual string Name{get;set;} public virtual Contact Contacts{ get; } } ----------------------------------------------------- public class Contact { public virtual string Address{get;set;} } ----------------------------------------------------- <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <nhv-mapping xmlns="urn:nhibernate-validator-1.0" namespace="MyNamespace" assembly="MyAssembly"> <class name="Customer"> <property name="Name"> <length max="20"/> </property> <property name="Contacts"> <notNull/> <valid/> </property> </class> </nhv-mapping> ----------------------------------------------------- <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <nhv-mapping xmlns="urn:nhibernate-validator-1.0" namespace="MyNamespace" assembly="MyAssembly"> <class name="Contact"> <property name="Address"> <length max="50"/> <valid/> </property> </class> </nhv-mapping> -----------------------------------------------------

  • What is the meaning of method class in the class definition in Ruby?

    - by Steven Xu
    I'm familiar with function definitions and variable declarations being in class definitions: public class MyClass { public int myvar; public void doSomething() { } } But what does it "mean" in Ruby when a method is actually called in the class definition? This happens amply in Rails, for instance: class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :posts end What exactly does this do (at a lower level than "it adds some methods to the class")? How would I implement such a function (e.g., one that mixes in some additional methods)?

  • C++ function overloading and dynamic binding compile problem

    - by Olorin
    #include <iostream> using namespace std; class A { public: virtual void foo(void) const { cout << "A::foo(void)" << endl; } virtual void foo(int i) const { cout << i << endl; } virtual ~A() {} }; class B : public A { public: void foo(int i) const { this->foo(); cout << i << endl; } }; class C : public B { public: void foo(void) const { cout << "C::foo(void)" << endl; } }; int main(int argc, char ** argv) { C test; test.foo(45); return 0; } The above code does not compile with: $>g++ test.cpp -o test.exe test.cpp: In member function 'virtual void B::foo(int) const': test.cpp:17: error: no matching function for call to 'B::foo() const' test.cpp:17: note: candidates are: virtual void B::foo(int) const test.cpp: In function 'int main(int, char**)': test.cpp:31: error: no matching function for call to 'C::foo(int)' test.cpp:23: note: candidates are: virtual void C::foo() const It compiles if method "foo(void)" is changed to "goo(void)". Why is this so? Is it possible to compile the code without changing the method name of "foo(void)"? Thanks.

  • Subclassing ViewPager Breaks Animation

    - by Ryan Thomas
    In my Android application I have an activity which uses a view pager to display 4+ pages (Fragments). I implemented buttons on each screen that move between pages by calling: pager.setCurrentItem(position, true); The view pager and fragments are all working as I desired. I then began looking for a solution to disable user swiping between pages so that the transition between pages in handled by the buttons only. The solution I found was mentioned in a few stackoverflow articles as well as This Blog that suggest subclassing the view pager to intercept touch events to disable swiping. I followed those examples by subclassing the view pager class as follows: public class ViewPager extends android.support.v4.view.ViewPager { private boolean enabled; public ViewPager(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); this.enabled = true; } @Override public boolean onTouchEvent(MotionEvent event) { if (this.enabled) { return super.onTouchEvent(event); } return false; } @Override public boolean onInterceptTouchEvent(MotionEvent event) { if (this.enabled) { return super.onInterceptTouchEvent(event); } return false; } public void setSwipingEnabled(boolean enabled) { this.enabled = enabled; } } Using the subclassed view pager and calling setSwipingEnabled(false) works as was desired. The user can no longer move between pages with swipe gestures and I can still move between pages via button clicks by calling setCurrentItem(int position, boolean smoothScroll). However using the subclass breaks the animation between pages. When I call setCurrentItem(position, true) with android.support.v4.view.ViewPager I get very clean scrolling animations between pages. When I make the same call using the subclass the screen has a very brief 'flash' and then automatically draws the new page. I would like to know how to fix the animation while retaining the ability to disable user swiping between pages. I greatly appreciate any help with this. Let me know if you need any additional information. So far I have tested using a Samsung device running 2.3.5 and an AVD emulator targeting Android 2.3.3.

  • Mapping an instance of IList in NHibernate

    - by Martin Kirsche
    I'm trying to map a parent-child relationship using NHibernate (2.1.2), MySql.Data (6.2.2) and MySQL Server (5.1). I figured out that this must be done using a <bag> in the mapping file. I build a test app which is running without yielding any errors and is doing an insert for each entry but somehow the foreign key inside the children table (ParentId) is always empty (null). Here are the important parts of my code... Parent public class Parent { public virtual int Id { get; set; } public virtual IList<Child> Children { get; set; } } <class name="Parent"> <id name="Id"> <generator class="native"/> </id> <bag name="Children" cascade="all"> <key column="ParentId"/> <one-to-many class="Child"/> </bag> </class> Child public class Child { public virtual int Id { get; set; } } <class name="Child"> <id name="Id"> <generator class="native"/> </id> </class> Program using (ISession session = sessionFactory.OpenSession()) { session.Save( new Parent() { Children = new List<Child>() { new Child(), new Child() } }); } Any ideas what I did wrong?

  • Should my internal API classes be all in one package?

    - by Chris
    I'm hard at work packaging up an API for public consumption. As such I'm trying to limit the methods that are exposed to only those that I wish to be public and supportable. Underneath this of course there are a multitude of limited access methods. The trouble is that I have a lot of internal code that needs to access these restricted methods without making those methods public. This creates two issues: I can't create interfaces to communicate between classes as this would make these my internal methods public. I can't access protected or default methods unless I put the majority of my internal classes in the same package. So, I have around 70 or 80 internal classes in cleanly segregated packages BUT with overly permissive access modifiers. Would you say that a single package is the lesser of two evils or is there a better way to be able to mask my internal methods whilst keeping more granular packages? I'd be interested to find out the best practice here. I'm already aware of This

  • Do Django Models inherit managers? (Mine seem not to)

  • Scala type inference failure on "? extends" in Java code

    I have the following simple Java code: package testj; import java.util.*; public class Query<T> { private static List<Object> l = Arrays.<Object>asList(1, "Hello", 3.0); private final Class<? extends T> clazz; public static Query<Object> newQuery() { return new Query<Object>(Object.class); } public Query(Class<? extends T> clazz) { this.clazz = clazz; } public <S extends T> Query<S> refine(Class<? extends S> clazz) { return new Query<S>(clazz); } public List<T> run() { List<T> r = new LinkedList<T>(); for (Object o : l) { if (clazz.isInstance(o)) r.add(clazz.cast(o)); } return r; } } I can call this from Java as follows: Query<String> sq = Query.newQuery().refine(String.class); //NOTE NO <String> But if I try and do the same from Scala: val sq = Query.newQuery().refine(classOf[String]) I get the following error: error: type mismatch found :lang.this.class[scala.this.Predef.String] required: lang.this.class[?0] forSome{ type ?0 <: ? } val sq = Query.newQuery().refine(classOf[String]) This is only fixed by the insertion of the correct type parameter! val sq = Query.newQuery().refine[String](classOf[String]) Why can't scala infer this from my argument? Note I am using Scala 2.7

  • How can I access and change elements in this private readonly property?

    - by CrimsonX
    I'm trying to figure out how I am able to successfully change a "readonly" array. I have this: namespace ConsoleApplication1 { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { MyClass myClass = new MyClass(); myClass.Time[5] = 5; // How is this legal? } } public class MyClass { private readonly uint[] time; public IList<uint> Time { get { return time; } } public MyClass() { time = new uint[7]; } } } As I Note above, I would expect that Time[5] would be illegal due to the fact that public IList Time does not have a setter. Additionally, how can I create an array in the constructor which is read-only and unchangeable outside of this class?

  • Do I have to release modifications made to a GPL v2 CMS?

    - by John McCollum
    If we use a CMS that is covered by the GPL (v2), do we have to re-release the source code of the CMS if we make modifications to the core? The GPL v2 states: The GPL does not require you to release your modified version. You are free to make modifications and use them privately, without ever releasing them. This applies to organizations (including companies), too; an organization can make a modified version and use it internally without ever releasing it outside the organization. But if you release the modified version to the public in some way, the GPL requires you to make the modified source code available to the program's users, under the GPL. The grey area for me here is the part that states "if you release the modified version to the public in some way" - does displaying a website to the public count as "releasing it to the public"? What about if a custom plugin is written which integrates with the CMS - are we required to release the source? Does this count as a modification?

  • Why doesn't this data binding work?

    - by Qwertie
    I have a ViewModel class that contains a list of points, and I am trying to bind it to a Polyline. The Polyline picks up the initial list of points, but does not notice when additional points are added even though I implement INotifyPropertyChanged. What's wrong? <StackPanel> <Button Click="Button_Click">Add!</Button> <Polyline x:Name="_line" Points="{Binding Pts}" Stroke="Black" StrokeThickness="5"/> </StackPanel> C# side: // code-behind _line.DataContext = new ViewModel(); private void Button_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { // The problem is here: NOTHING HAPPENS ON-SCREEN! ((ViewModel)_line.DataContext).AddPoint(); } // ViewModel class public class ViewModel : INotifyPropertyChanged { public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; public PointCollection Pts { get; set; } public ViewModel() { Pts = new PointCollection(); Pts.Add(new Point(1, 1)); Pts.Add(new Point(11, 11)); } public void AddPoint() { Pts.Add(new Point(25, 13)); if (PropertyChanged != null) PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("Pts")); } }

  • is using private shared objects/variables on class level harmful ?

    - by haansi
    Hello, Thanks for your attention and time. I need your opinion on an basic architectural issue please. In page behind classes I am using a private and shared object and variables (list or just client or simplay int id) to temporary hold data coming from database or class library. This object is used temporarily to catch data and than to return, pass to some function or binding a control. 1st: Can this approach harm any way ? I couldn't analyze it but a thought was using such shared variables may replace data in it when multiple users may be sending request at a time? 2nd: Please comment also on using such variables in BLL (to hold data coming from DAL/database). In this example every time new object of BLL class will be made. Here is sample code: public class ClientManager { Client objclient = new Client(); //Used in 1st and 2nd method List<Client> clientlist = new List<Client>();// used in 3rd and 4th method ClientRepository objclientRep = new ClientRepository(); public List<Client> GetClients() { return clientlist = objclientRep.GetClients(); } public List<Client> SearchClients(string Keyword) { return clientlist = objclientRep.SearchClients(Keyword); } public Client GetaClient(int ClientId) { return objclient = objclientRep.GetaClient(ClientId); } public Client GetClientDetailForConfirmOrder(int UserId) { return objclientRep.GetClientDetailForConfirmOrder(UserId); } } I am really thankful to you for sparing time and paying kind attention.

  • Specify database engine to use in fixtures

    - by deceze
    Is there a way to specify the database engine to be used for fixtures in CakePHP test fixtures? Some of my models depend on database transactions, and I would like to write some tests for their correct behavior. Currently I'm simply auto-importing the schema, but the tables get created with MySQL's standard MyISAM engine, which doesn't support transactions. class FooFixture extends CakeTestFixture { public $name = 'Foo'; public $import = 'Foo'; public $records = array(...); }

  • PHP OOP Design Patterns: Should I Create two seperate classes for registration and form validation?

I was going to create abstract class registration and both A and B would have their own classes that extend from registration. My question is, should I create a seperate Validation class with seperate A and B validation classes that extend? or is there a better pattern to use for something like this? Thanks
