Hi,
I'm looking at how to read a file in flash 10 here:
http://www.thedesilva.com/2008/11/flash-10-file-reference/
is there a way to initiate the file read from a drag and drop? For example, the user drags and drops a text file onto my flash element in the browser - can I initiate the file read from that?
Thanks

fluid height (scrollbars for
overflow) (BLUE below)
a main content column with
fluid width and height (scrollbars for overflow) (RED below)

remains stuck to the bottom of the

I'm happy to use Javascript/JQuery if there really isn't a pure CSS solution.
Thanks!
Is there any way I can get system info, like processor/ram etc (preferably cross platform, in browser)?
I am looking to implement this in a website, so I need it in either flash or a java applet.
Does a meta refresh tag require a full url?
I have code that looks like this, which seems to work just fine, but when I load it in lynx text browser, it says this is bad HTML. It seems to suggest that the full URL is required (http://mydomain.com/blah.htm).
The navigator object has a javaEnabled function that indicates if the browser has javascript support.
This seems to be a little odd:
If JS is indeed enabled the function
will return true, well obviously.
If JS is disabled it will return
<nothing since it is never run,
javaScript is disabled.
I must be missing something here, or is it really that useless this function?
Hey,
The question is pretty simple, but i'm not the big AJAX/JS coder, so I have no clue if it's possible.
Is there any way that I can check whether or not an alert() was executed on a remote site? Like if I inputted an alert("Welcome to this site"); through a get variable, is there any way to check if it that alert() was actually executed in the browser?
And not necessarily through AJAX/JS.
I have a situation.
I have a label in ASP.NET 2.0(C#). The label should display a dutch language text that is "Sähköpostiosoite", I tried setting the Label.Text both from markup and code-behind but what I see in the browser response is "Sähköpostiosoite".
Originally assigned string "Sähköpostiosoite" get replaced with "Sähköpostiosoite". I have no idea why this happens can you please help me diagnose the problem ??
Are there any browser issues with always collapsing empty tags in html.
So for example and empty head can be written like this
<head></head>
but is can also be written like this
<head/>
Will the second case cause issues in any scenerio?
Thanks

Hi,
My friend's account for some Facebook game was suspended on the grounds that he had Greasemonkey installed on his browser. He is asked to uninstall Greasemonkey and account has been restored. My question is how can a web server detect a client side plugin presence?
I assume that Greasemonkey or greasemonkey scripts operate on the client side only so it would not be possible for the server to detect it.
Thanks.
I am aware that any Unicode character can be inserted into an HTML document via the following format:

...where 0000 is the character code of the desired character
My question is: which of these characters has the most widespread availability when it comes to the client's browser being able to display the character?
In other words, what are the ranges of codes that should be used in an HTML document that is going to be widely deployed?
Hi, There seems to be a browser hijack problem and I really dont have time to sort it. I need an alternative download location for Silverlight SDK 3 since microsoft.com does not work.
I made a custom page template (for example, for About page), added Template Name inside the file and saved that. Then I tried to add a page in wp admin console using that template. It said that the page had been created successfully but when I try to open it in browser, it shows me 404 error. What did I do wrong?
Thanks.

I'm working with a customer whose web service doesn't return the data in every case. Since the C# stub code is generated by calling wsdl.exe, I'm wondering how to get the actual URL used for any particular method call. I would like to feed the URL to a browser to show them (aka point fingers).
I want to save log out time when user close the Browser without clicking log out button using asp.net with C# and SQL server 2005.

Thanks in advance
Say I've written a simple app that draws circles in browser. Now I'd like to let people save their pictures. How would I store the data on the server? Which format would be the best option? Should I simply store the relevant html? What would be the case when I would want to make a custom format that is stored on the server and parsed back to html canvas when loaded?
In ASP.Net is there a way to dynamically set a control adapter? The standard way to apply a contol adapter is via the ".browser" files. However, I have a situation where I would like to use the control adapter in some circumstances, but not in others - and i can not find a way to achieve this.
Any help appreciated.
I am trying to access a server that requires authorization using the WebView widget in Android. I think it's the .htaccess type of authorization.
I works with the default browser provided with the OS, but when I try it with a WebView.. it gives a 401 immediately.
Any ideas on how I can have a WebView present the dialog to enter the user/pass (and remember it)?
Thanks.
I somehow cannot achieve that the a-tag looses its default action when clicking it:
<a href="#" class="button dismiss">dismiss</a>
$(document).ready(function() {
$('.dismiss').click(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
$('#output').empty();
$('#MyUploadForm .button').show();
});
});
When I click the button, the browser window scrolls to the top. What is wrong here?
