    In asp classic and vbscript, you can declare a Const with a hexidecial value, and a date type value: Const C_LIGHTCYAN = &hCCFFEE Const C_STARTDATE = #1 JAN 2000# But how can I declare currency, single or doubles data types? Const C_LONG = 1024 '# I want this to be a LONG, not an INT! I'm sure I've seen something like Const C_LNG = L12345 or some other prefix/suffix combination for longs or doubles but can't find the source now

  • Indirect load of type fails in PowerShell

    When invoking [System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager]::GetSection("MySection") from within a PowerShell prompt, it throws an exception because the assembly containing the type represented by "MySection" in the app config is unable to be loaded. However, I have previously loaded the assembly containing that type, and I am even able to instantiate the type directly using 'new-object'. How is the ConfigurationManager resolving types such that the assemblies already loaded into the PowerShell app domain are not visible to it?

  • Is there a better way to declare an empty, typed matrix in MATLAB?

    Is there a way to "declare" a variable with a particular user-defined type in MATLAB? zeros() only works for built-in numeric types. The only solution I've come up with involves using repmat() to duplicate a dummy object zero times: arr = repmat(myClass(), [1 0]) Without declaring variables this way, any code which does "arr(end+1) = myClass()" has to include a special case for the default empty matrix which is of type double. Have I missed something a little more sensible?

    The difference between Chr and Char when used in converting types is that one is a function and the other is cast So: Char(66) = Chr(66) I don't think there is any performance difference (at least I've never noticed any, one probably calls the other).... I'm fairly sure someone will correct me on this! Which do you use in your code and why?

    I want to use a field (kind of QTextEdit), which is capabale of storing picture and text (like MS Word is doing) and it serializes and deserialaizes picture+text data. Is there any Qt Widget that allows us to manipulate with picture and text simultaniously and it has set/get functions which operate with serializable type? In othger words, I want to know if there exsists any Qt widget that can store picture+text and has "get" types of function that returns the content of that widgets editable area, which is a Type that could be serialized with QDataStream.

    Hi, I've seen in (Apple) sample code two types of ways of allocation memory, and am not sure I understand the difference and resulting behavior. // FAILS NSMutableArray *anArray = [NSMutableArray array]; [anArray release]; // WORKS NSMutableArray *anArray1 = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [anArray release]; By "FAILS" I mean I get crashes/runtime warnings etc., and not always as soon as I call the release...     I'm looking to see if I can design a HtmlHelper extension method that will generate the Html for different types of widgets I want to produce. Each different type of widget implements functionality to get and prepare any data it needs to render. Can anyone suggest any patterns I could refer to for approaches to take?   • Idiomatic scheme and generic programming, why only on numbers ?

    Hi, In Scheme, procedures like +, -, *, / works on different types of numbers, but we don't much see any other generic procedures. For example, length works only on list so that vector-length and string-length are needed. I guess it comes from the fact that the language doesn't really offer any mechanism for defining generic procedure (except cond of course) like "type classes" in Haskell or a standardized object system. Is there an idiomatic scheme way to handle generic procedures that I'm not aware of ?

    What potential memory leaks won't an implicit destructor handle? I know that if you have anything stored on the heap it won't handle it, and if you have a connection to a file or a database, that needs to be handled manually. Is there anything else? What about, say, non-base data types like vectors? Also, in an explicit destructor, need you destroy non-heap variables which would have been destroyed by the implicit, or are they handled automatically? Thanks

    When you ask for a new HierarchyID between two others, the result gets progressively longer. For example, between 2/5.6 and 2/5.7 there's only 2/5.6.1 and other 4 component paths. The HierarchyID data type is limited to 800 some bytes, so you can't repeat this forever. Then again, integer types are also limited, but it isn't a problem in practice. Should I periodically defragment my table so that height doesn't grow unbounded?

  • Server IP must be a LAN IP (Port Forwarding Netgear)

    I'm trying to set up a server (Apache) on my computer (fairly new to it). As I understand it, for it to be accessible to other computers, I need to forward port 80. When I try to forward the port though, I get the error: Server IP must be a LAN IP. I noticed in ipconfig that my default gateway is different than my wireless router. My computer is not hardwired, not on WiFi. Furthermore, I do not, at this point, have a static IP. I read that it should still work with a dynamic IP until it changes. Any ideas on what I can do?

  • Using DNS entries to determine location

    I'm trying to think of a clean way to determine the location of machines (mainly, which datacenter they belong to) based on their network settings. I would like it to be dynamic, and I'm thinking of using special DNS records that would be specific to the DNS server in each datacenter. For example, you could have: root@machine1# dig TXT mysite ... mysite 3600 IN TXT "DC1" ... root@machine2# dig TXT mysite ... mysite 3600 IN TXT "DC2" ... etc. I know that DNS has a special LOC record for location, but it takes coordinates, so it doesn't help in my case. Is there a standard way of addressing this issue, another special type of record for it, or some standard entries in TXT records?
