• IE6 ignoring active link CSS style

  The CSS active link style is being correctly applied in IE7, FF, and Safari but is not applied IE6. .side_nav a.active { color:#FFFFFF; background-color:#9F1F63; } Interestingly the background color (background-color:#9F1F63;) is being applied in IE6 but not the font color (color:#FFFFFF;) Any ideas on why this is happening and how I can fix it appreciated. • Simple startup on boot of misc application (Java based) on Ubuntu Linux 8+ as a daemon

  What is the easiest way to have an application launch at startup on Ubuntu server as daemon? This is a java application (java com.run.run.Run) etc. How would I have it launch as a user and possibly have access to write to some log file where the user has permissions to write? And if I don't end up doing that, how would I launch the application as the root user at startup. Edited: It is a headless server, I don't have access to the desktop applications.

  I seem to be missing something obvious here, but cannot see what it is. My problem is that the closing form tag for BeginForm is not being added to my markup. I am looping through a collection and creating a form for each item, but the forms arent closing properly. Any suggestions please? • Simple WCF question.

  So I am learning WCF and I have run across an issue that I believe has to do with Instance Control/State but I am not sure. Workflow is as follows, Basic client/server paradigm. The client calls a Method RetrieveBusinessObjects(criteria) and the server calls the datalayer and then puts them in an IList on the server side. It does not return this list to the calling Client. The client would then call a method say DisplayBusinessObjects() which would retrieve the IList from the Server, serialize them, bring them across the wire and display them. If i try this using the WCFTestClient it works. If I run it from an actual client then I get back an BusinessObject[] of size 0. Which to me indicates I had no objects to return. Is that a state mgmt issue or am I missing something?

  I'm having some trouble positioning the Google +1 button on my website. The div is as follows: <div class="g-plusone"></div> The CSS I'm using is pretty simple: .g-plusone { position: absolute; top:95px; left:715px; } I know for a fact that the div in question is being accessed. What's strange is that other social sharing buttons, such as the FB like below follow the same syntax and are positioned perfectly. .fb-like { position: absolute; top:62px; left:715px; } Any ideas?

• Trying to get simple jquery animations on a site I created in Dreamweaver

  Hey guys, another question. I'm trying to do some basic jQuery stuff for my final project. I'll be using it to modify my already existing site created in Dreamweaver a few months ago. However, no matter how I source the framework, it just won't take regardless of whether I host my own copy or link to someone else's like Google's. I'm including my jQuery function calls within my already existing .js file that includes some auto generated functions. I also tried creating a new .js specifically for my jQuery functions and still nothing. I realize this is vague, but any tips? Do I need another framework for jQuery to work off of to make animations like .fadeIn() or .slideDown()? Thanks guys and gals!

• Make an element visible to the user but invisible to events

  I'm not quite sure how to describe what I'm looking to do, but I'll do my best. At the moment I have a parent <div>, with absolutely positioned child <div>s within it, and I'm tracking the mouse pointer location coordinates relative to the element your mouse is over. At the moment, when I mouse over my child <div>s, I get the mouse location relative to them, but I want the coordinates to be relative the the parent <div> even when mousing over the child elements. So I basically want the child elements to be visible, but transparent to the mousemove, so I want the mousemove to go straight through to the parent element. How would I do this? Do I maybe need to somehow make the parent <div> be in the forground but still have the child <div>s show through? or make a transparent <div> overlay just to get the mouse coordinates? I know just enough powershell to get in trouble, but can't figure out the syntax or coding to make this work. I have a text file that looks like this - Here is your list of servers: server1 server2.domain.local server3 Total number of servers: 3 I need to take that text file and drop the first and last lines (Always first and last.) Then I need to take every other line and basically turn it into a CSV file. • Advice on simple efficient way to store web form data when no db/auth required

  Hi, I have a situation where I need to provide an efficient way to process and store comments submitted via a web form. I would normally use PHP and either MySQL or XML to store the data, but this is slightly different in that this web form will only be temporarily available in a closed LAN environment, and all i need to do is process the form data and store it a format which can be accessed by another application on the LAN (Adobe Director). Each request made by the Director app should pop the stack of data. I'm wondering how best to store the data for this type of situation as it's not something I would normally do. I'm thinking possibly storing the data in an XML file, but any advice would be great!

• Boost Date_Time problem compiling a simple program

I'm writing a very stupid program using Boost Date_Time library. int main(int srgc, char** argv) { using namespace boost::posix_time; date d(2002,Feb,1); //an arbitrary date ptime t1(d, hours(5)+nanosec(100)); //date + time of day offset ptime t2 = t1 - minutes(4)+seconds(2); ptime now = second_clock::local_time(); //use the clock date today = now.date(); //Get the date part out of the time } Well I cannot compile it, compiler does not recognize a type... Well I used many features of Boost libs like serialization and more... I correctly built them and, looking in my /usr/local/lib folder I can see that libboost_date_time.so is there (a good sign which means I was able to build that library) When I compile I write the following: g++ -lboost_date_time main.cpp But the errors it showed me when I specify the lib are the same of those ones where I do not specify any lib. What is this? Anyone knows? • Multiple generic parameters on a html helper extension method

  What I'm trying to do is create an extension method for the HtmlHelper to create a specific output and associated details like TextBoxFor<. What I want to do is specify the property from the model class as per TextBoxFor<, then an associated controller action and other parameters. So far the signature of the method looks like: public static MvcHtmlString Create<TModel, TProperty, TController>(this HtmlHelper<TModel> htmlHelper, Expression<Func<TModel, TProperty>> expression, Expression<Action<TController>> action, object htmlAttributes) where TController : Controller where TModel : class The issue occurs when I go to call it. In my view if I call it as per the TextBoxFor without specifying the Model type I am able to specify the lambda expression to set the property which it's for, but when I go to specify the action I am unable to. However, when I specify the controller type Html.Create<HomeController>( ... ) I am unable to specify the model property that the control is to be created for. I want to be able to call it like <%= Html.Create(x => x.Title, controller => controller.action, null) %> I've been hitting my head for a few hours now on this issue over the past day, can anyone point me in the right direction?

  Hi, Im running into an issue that's really baffleing me. I have a container that I want to apply a background to an postion it in the top right of the browser screen. I've tried multiple display properties and position properties to no avail.   Hello, I have a table with measures and the time this measures have been taken in the following form: MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM. I have measures over many days starting at the same time every day.The datas are minute by minute so basically the seconds are always = 0. I want to select only the measures for the first 5 minutes of each day. I would have used the where statement but the condition would only be on the minutes and note the date is there a way to do this? Thanks
