Hi,
I am writing an application to listen the SMS inbox in android with one activity and one BroadcastReceiver.Once the SMS comes the Receiver is showing alert message.But i want to send the message information from Receiver to Activity.I don't know how to achieve this.Anybody knows it please help me.
So basically the code "almost" works - the problem is that the system does not appear to know that the system wallpaper have been changed or does not do anything about it. Starting and closing another app manually appears to enforce an update.
In an event call the following is done:
getApplicationContext().setWallpaper(pWallOne);
Is there some way of telling the android system to update the graphics or to do some cheap trick that forces it to? Any help or tip would be very much appreciated!!
I am trying to create PHP script to get app version from Android APK file.
Extracting xml file from APK (zip) file and then parsing XML is one way, but i guess it should be simpler. Something like PHP Manual, example #3.
Any ideas how to create script?
I was wondering is it possible to get a notification of when a new configured network is added to the WifiManager in Android?
I know you can get the current list of configured networks
getConfiguredNetworks
But is it possible to get notification of when a new one is added?
I dont see anything in the WifiManager that would be helpful.
Has anyone any other ideas? Or insight into how this could be achieved?
I uploaded an app built with 1.5 SDK into market, but someone told me they can not find it in the market in their phone. I do not know why, because I have test it in 2.1 emulator.

In an Android application, we usually got the "Force Closed" error if we didn't get the exceptions right.
How can I restart my application automatically if it force closed?
Is there any specific permission is used for this?
Can I use other JVM languages besides Java (e.g. jruby, jython, clojure) to program for android, or is it java only?
There was a similar question asked over a year ago but I wasn't sure if there'd been any change since then.
How can you display upside down text with a textview in Android?

I want to load third-party jni library in runtime.
I've tried to load directly from sdcard. It expectedly failed.
I've tried to copy library from sdcard to /data/data/app/ and then
System.load(/data/data/libjni.so)
It works on HTC HERO, but fails on HTC Legend with Android 2.1.
it fails during execution of native code and write to log uninformative stack trace
Any other way to do it?
Most of the Android users use the GO SMS app, and the iPhone users use their normal messaging app (Android rocks). Now, whenever a user types a message and presses the send button, the message's edit text field sets a glossy green background, also the green colored background comes floating at the back of the edit text field. How do they do it?
(I have been searching this for a while, but was unable to find an answer.)
In an Android app, I am using one static instance of org.apache.http.impl.client.DefaultHttpClient and sharing that instance in all activities and services of the app, so that this client may be used to log in once to a remote server and all subsequent user requests to that remote server will remain authenticated.
Every activity or Service that makes a GET or POST to this remote server calls the same method : MyUtilityClass.gettHttpClient()
Do I need to worry about synchronization of this httpclient? If so, what is the best way to handle this?
For example I'm travelling and need an important document from my colleague right now. I know I can use email but the android email app works so slow. Is there an app that does just that?
I've noticed that changing the background color of an android widget (f.ex. Button or TextView) by program:
myButton.setBackgroundColor(Color.BLUE);
makes it to loose its 3D shape, border, and shadows effects, and then appears like a ugly flat square. What am I missing?
Sorry for the very naive question but I couldn't get it right although tried for a time.
I need to make my client talk to a XML-RPC service. I found a couple of interesting ones on the web like android-xmlrpc. Have you used any such libraries in your code? Which library do you recommend?
Hi,
I have some piece of code which uses JNI. I can debug code wrote in Java directly in Eclipse (using ADT). I even have a script, which help me debug native code with gdb. However this is not very comfortable way for doing this.
Is it possible to configure Eclipse to use gdb (I guess gdbserver) for debbuging android native applications? Do you know where I could find any description of this?

Hello all,
When running a thread in Android/Java:
public void run()
{
while (running)
{
if (moreTasksToExec())
{
task = getNextTask()
task.exec();
}
}
}
Is it OK to let it run and not using a semaphore to block while no work needs to be executed?
I am only using one thread, so I need no inter-thread synchronization.
