  • IronPython memory leak?

    - by Mike Gates
    Run this: for i in range(1000000000): a = [] It looks like the list objects being created never get marked for garbage collection. From a memory profiler, it looks like the interpreter's stack frame is holding onto all the list objects, so GC can never do anything about it. Is this by design?

  • "reduce" or "apply" using logical functions in Clojure

    - by Alex B
    I cannot use logical functions on a range of booleans in Clojure (1.2). Neither of the following works due to logical functions being macros: (reduce and [... sequence of bools ...]) (apply or [... sequence of bools ...]) The error saying that I "can't take value of a macro: #'clojure.core/and". How to apply these logical functions (macros) without writing boilerplate code?

  • Sony SmartWatch 2 Magnetic Fields confusion

    - by user1865735
    I'm trying to use Registration.SensorTypeValue.MAGNETIC_FIELD in SmartWatch's 2 plugin. But values that I received put me into some dissapointed state, cause of few reason: Values is to big (I tested magnetic fields on 3 phones and result is like "-12. , 38, -14", and the watch give me something like "488, 440, -115") Values are almost static, they live in very small range. What's wrong with me or with the watch? I think this question is for Sony support team.

  • Controling page number shwon in printing dialog

    - by Matthias Wandel
    I'm trying to implement printing a range of pages in c# While printing, the .net framework throws up a message box that says "Page # of document". This starts at 1, and counts up to the number of pages printed. If I'm printing pages 10-11, I want that count to start at 10, not 1. Is there a way to set the starting value? The logical thing would be if it started at PrinterSettings.FromPage, but it ignores that value.

  • is there a better way of replacing duplicates in a list (python)

    - by myeu2
    Given a list: l1: ['a', 'b', 'c', 'a', 'a', 'b'] output: ['a', 'b', 'c', 'a'_1, 'a'_2, 'b'_1 ] I created the following code to get the output. Its messyyy.. for index in range(len(l1)): counter = 1 list_of_duplicates_for_item = [dup_index for dup_index, item in enumerate(l1) if item == l1[index] and l1.count(l1[index]) > 1] for dup_index in list_of_duplicates_for_item[1:]: l1[dup_index] = l1[dup_index] + '_' + str(counter) counter = counter + 1 Is there a more pythonic way of doing this? I couldnt find anything on the web.

  • How to know if a cell has an error in the formula in C#

    - by Pascal
    In an Excel formula you can use =ISERR(A1) or =ISERROR(A1) In a VBA macro you can use IsError(sheet.Cells(1, 1)) But using a VSTO Excel Addin project I did not found similar function under the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel API. My current workaround is to do this for all the existing error messages.: if (((Range)sheet.Cells[1, 1]).Text == "#N/A" || ...) Is there a better way to do this. I mean built in the API?

  • Outputcache - how to determine optimal value for duration?

    - by Steve
    I read somewhere that for a high traffic site (I guess that is a murky term as well), 30 - 60 seconds is a good value. Obviously I could do a load test and vary the values, but I couldn't find any kind of documentation on this. Most samples have a minute, a couple of minutes. There's no recommended range. Is there something on msdn or anywhere that talks about this?

  • Indexing over the results returned by selenium

    - by Guy
    Hi I try to index over results returned by an xpath. For example: xpath = '//a[@id="someID"]' can return a few results. I want to get a list of them. I thought that doing: numOfResults = sel.get_xpath_count(xpath) l = [] for i in range(1,numOfResults+1): l.append(sel.get_text('(%s)[%d]'%(xpath, i))) would work because doing something similar with firefox's Xpath checker works: (//a[@id='someID'])[2] returns the 2nd result. Ideas why the behavior would be different and how to do such a thing with selenium Thanks

  • Excel Merge() vs MergeCells

    - by sleepp
    Hi, I'm using VSTO, C#, and Excel but VBA probably applies here as well. What's the difference between calling the Merge(missing) method on a range and setting the MergeCells property to true? Does Merge() fail more often? Thanks!

  • A question about matrix manipulation

    - by appi
    Given a 1*N matrix or an array, how do I find the first 4 elements which have the same value and then store the index for those elements? PS: I'm just curious. What if we want to find the first 4 elements whose value differences are within a certain range, say below 2? For example, M=[10,15,14.5,9,15.1,8.5,15.5,9.5], the elements I'm looking for will be 15,14.5,15.1,15.5 and the indices will be 2,3,5,7.
