  • Creating an HTTP-Redirected Virtual Directopry in IIS 6.0 without specifying physical path & WMI/ADS

    - by Steve Johnson
    My question is : Is it possible to create a working IIS 6.0 Virtual Directory with providing Physical Path of the Virtual Directory.? I know that manually, it is not possible via IIS but programmatically such a virtual directory can be created. If an HTTPRedirect is set on that virtual directory but the site physical path is not specified, then will it work? Simply stated, how to create an HTTp-redirected Virtual Directory , directly without specifying any physical path to a folder or network share. Here is my code. Try If Directory.Exists(HomeDirectory) = False And Path.StartsWith("http://") = False Then Directory.CreateDirectory(HomeDirectory) End If Dim website As DirectoryEntry website = New DirectoryEntry("IIS://" & IISServer & "/W3SVC/" & WebsiteId & "/Root") Dim NewVDir As DirectoryEntry = website.Children.Add(VDirName, "IIsWebVirtualDir") If Path.StartsWith("http://") = False Then NewVDir.Properties("Path")(0) = Path NewVDir.Properties("HttpRedirect").Clear() Else NewVDir.Properties("HttpRedirect")(0) = Path End If If ((Perm And Permission.Read) = Permission.Read) Then NewVDir.Properties("AccessRead")(0) = True End If If ((Perm And Permission.Write) = Permission.Write) Then NewVDir.Properties("AccessWrite")(0) = True End If If ((Perm And Permission.DirBrowse) = Permission.DirBrowse) Then NewVDir.Properties("EnableDirBrowsing")(0) = True End If If ((Perm And Permission.CreatetApplication) = Permission.CreatetApplication) Then NewVDir.Invoke("AppCreate", True) End If If ((Perm And Permission.ScriptOnly) = Permission.ScriptOnly) Then NewVDir.Properties("AccessScript")(0) = True End If If ((Perm And Permission.ScriptNExecute) = Permission.ScriptNExecute) Then NewVDir.Properties("AccessExecute")(0) = True End If NewVDir.Properties("AuthAnonymous")(0) = True NewVDir.Properties("AuthNTLM")(0) = True NewVDir.Properties("AnonymousUserName")(0) = AnonUserName NewVDir.Properties("AnonymousUserPass")(0) = AnonPassword NewVDir.Properties("AppFriendlyName")(0) = AppFriendlyName NewVDir.CommitChanges() website.CommitChanges() NewVDir.Close() website.Close() Success = True Catch Err As Exception Throw New Exception("My Custom Exception Here: " & Err.Message) End Try

  • Method for launching audio player on Android from web page for streaming media

    - by Brad
    To link to SHOUTcast/HTTP internet radio streams, traditionally you would link to a playlist file, such as an M3U or PLS. From there, the browser would launch the audio player registered to handle the playlist. This works great on any PC, Palm, Blackberry, and iPhone. This method does not work in Android without installing extra software. Sure, Just Playlists or StreamFurious can handle it just fine, but I am assuming there has to be a way to invoke the audio or video player commonly installed by default on Android installations. By default, no audio player is capable of handling M3U or PLS. The player seems to open it, but says "Unsupported Media Type". To make this more annoying, the browser is capable of streaming MP3 audio over HTTP, simply by opening a link to an MP3 file. I have tried simply linking directly to the MP3 stream hosted by SHOUTcast, which should end up in the same result, but SHOUTcast detects "Mozilla" in the user-agent string, and instead of sending the stream, it sends the information page for the station. How should I link to a SHOUTcast stream on Android, from a normal mobile site, without using extra applications?

  • Set fields with instrospection - Problem with String.valueOf(String)

    - by fabb
    Hey there! I'm setting public fields of the Object 'this' via reflection. Both the field name and the value are given as String. I use several various field types: Boolean, Integer, Float, Double, an own enum, and a String. It works with all of them except with a String. The exception that gets thrown is that no method with the Signature String.valueOf(String) exists... Now I use a dirty instanceof workaround to detect if each field is a String and in that case just copy the value to the field. private void setField(String field, String value) throws Exception { Field wField = this.getClass().getField(field); if(wField.get(this) instanceof String){ //TODO dirrrrty hack //stupid workaround as java.lang.String.valueOf(java.lang.String) fails... wField.set(this, value); }else{ Method parseMethod = wField.getType().getMethod("valueOf", new Class[]{String.class}); wField.set(this, parseMethod.invoke(wField, value)); } } Any ideas how to avoid that workaround? Do you think java.lang.String should support the method valueOf(String)? thanks, fabb

  • Python - Open default mail client using mailto, with multiple recipients

    - by victorhooi
    Hi, I'm attempting to write a Python function to send an email to a list of users, using the default installed mail client. I want to open the email client, and give the user the opportunity to edit the list of users or the email body. I did some searching, and according to here: http://www.sightspecific.com/~mosh/WWW_FAQ/multrec.html It's apparently against the RFC spec to put multiple comma-delimited recipients in a mailto link. However, that's the way everybody else seems to be doing it. What exactly is the modern stance on this? Anyhow, I found the following two sites: http://2ality.blogspot.com/2009/02/generate-emails-with-mailto-urls-and.html http://www.megasolutions.net/python/invoke-users-standard-mail-client-64348.aspx which seem to suggest solutions using urllib.parse (url.parse.quote for me), and webbrowser.open. I tried the sample code from the first link (2ality.blogspot.com), and that worked fine, and opened my default mail client. However, when I try to use the code in my own module, it seems to open up my default browser, for some weird reason. No funny text in the address bar, it just opens up the browser. The email_incorrect_phone_numbers() function is in the Employees class, which contains a dictionary (employee_dict) of Employee objects, which themselves have a number of employee attributes (sn, givenName, mail etc.). Full code is actually here (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2963975/python-converting-csv-to-objects-code-design) from urllib.parse import quote import webbrowser .... def email_incorrect_phone_numbers(self): email_list = [] for employee in self.employee_dict.values(): if not PhoneNumberFormats.standard_format.search(employee.telephoneNumber): print(employee.telephoneNumber, employee.sn, employee.givenName, employee.mail) email_list.append(employee.mail) recipients = ', '.join(email_list) webbrowser.open("mailto:%s?subject=%s&body=%s" % (recipients, quote("testing"), quote('testing')) ) Any suggestions? Cheers, Victor

  • passing in javascript values into iframe tag

    - by Cedar Jensen
    What's the best way to pass in the value held in a javascript variable into an iframe call on the same html page? I'm trying to improve my site's page response times by moving ad serving javascript code (the typical document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="..") into a separate iframe. (Based on this posting) The request to the ad server typically require a seed variable declared once per site and incremented each time page is loaded by the client. What I want to do is pass in the seed variable into the document invoked by my iframe section. The seed variable is initialized in the 'head' tag of my main html document: <head> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- custom_seed=1; //--> </script> </head> Later in the html document, I make the request through an iframe which returns the html necessary to invoke the ad server. <body> <!-- a bunch of html to display the page --> <iframe src="somepage.html" width="100%" height="100%"> <p>No support for iframe</p> </iframe> </body> The html returned in the 'somepage.html' has a script used to call the ad server and needs to use the earlier declared seed variable as a parameter: <script type="text/javascript"> document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ad.server.net/...seed='+ custom_seed +'?"></script>'); custom_seed++; </script> What's a good way to achieve this?

  • Android app after update: crashes on Motorola Cliq with weird stacktrace

    So after updating my app on the market I am getting reports from motorola cliq-users that my app crashes on start. The stacktrace is below, and is not very helpful since it does not go trough my app! • Update C# Chart using BackgroundWorker

    - by Mark
    I am currently trying to update a chart which is on my form to the background worker using: bwCharter.RunWorkerAsync(chart1); Which runs: private void bcCharter_DoWork(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) { System.Windows.Forms.DataVisualization.Charting.Chart chart = null; // Convert e.Argument to chart //.. // Converted.. chart.Series.Clear(); e.Result=chart; setChart(c.chart); } private void setChart(System.Windows.Forms.DataVisualization.Charting.Chart arg) { if (chart1.InvokeRequired) { chart1.Invoke(new MethodInvoker(delegate { setChart(arg); })); return; } chart1 = arg; } However, at the point of clearing the series, an exception is thrown. Basically, I want to do a whole lot more processing after clearing the series, which slows the GUI down completely - so wanted this in another thread. I thought that by passing it as an argument, I should be safe, but apparently not! Interestingly, the chart is on a tab page. I can run this over and over if the tabpage is in the background, but if I run this, look at the chart, hide it again, and re-run, it throws the exception. Obviously, it throws if the chart is in the foreground as well. Can anyone suggest what I can do differently? Thanks!

  • Error setting env thru subprocess.call to run a python script on a remote linux machine

    - by John Smith
    I am running a python script on a windows machine to invoke another python script on a remote linux machine. I am using subprocess.call with ssh to do this, like below: subprocess.call('ssh -i <identify file> username@hostname python <script_on_linux_machine>') and this works fine. However, if I want to set some environment variables, like below: subprocess.call('ssh -i <identify file> username@hostname python <script_on_linux_machine>', env={key1:value1}) it fails. I get the following error: ssh_connect: getnameinfo failed ssh: connect to host <hostname> port 22: Operation not permitted 255 I've tried splitting the ssh commands into list and passing. Didn't help. I've tried to run other 'local'(windows) commands thru subprocess.call() and tried setting the env. It works fine. I've tried to run other commands(such as ls) on the remote linux machine. Again, subprocess.call() works fine, as long as I don't try to set the environment. What am I doing wrong? Would I be able to set the environment for a python script on a remote machine? Any help will be appreciated.

  • Where do I put jar files in Tomcat 6?

    - by Simon
    I am having trouble getting my JSP page to load a Java class which is in a jar file. The message I get appears to indicate a class not found exception: Jan 6, 2011 12:21:45 PM org.apache.catalina.core.StandardWrapperValve invoke SEVERE: Servlet.service() for servlet jsp threw exception org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP: An error occurred at line: 72 in the jsp file: /xmlloader.jsp FactArray cannot be resolved to a type 69: sourceType = "1"; 70: } 71: 72: FactArray fa = new FactArray(); 73: Fact f; 74: 75: /***********************/ The Type FactArray is one of my classes in a package com.mypackage.fact.FactArray which exists in myjar.jar. myjar.jar is a separate Java project (using NetBeans, but I don't think that's relevant). I include the package in my JSP as follows: <%@ page import="com.mypackage.fact.*" %> I deploy my web site and JSPs into Tomcat 6 as a WAR file. I include myjar.jar in that WAR in WEB-INF/lib but that doesn't work. I tried putting myjar.jar in my tomcat/lib folder, but that doesn't work either. I have bounced the server several times between changes. I have read a whole bunch of questions on here which say "put it in WEB-INF/lib" but that isn't working, so I'm asking my own question. Where do I need to put common JAR files so they get picked up by Tomcat?

  • Correct way of setting a custom FileInfo class to an Iterator

    - by Gordon
    I am trying to set a custom class to an Iterator through the setInfoClass method: Use this method to set a custom class which will be used when getFileInfo and getPathInfo are called. The class name passed to this method must be derived from SplFileInfo. My class is like this (simplified example): class MyFileInfo extends SplFileInfo { public $props = array( 'foo' => '1', 'bar' => '2' ); } The iterator code is this: $rit = new RecursiveIteratorIterator( new RecursiveDirectoryIterator('/some/file/path/'), RecursiveIteratorIterator::SELF_FIRST); Since RecursiveDirectoryIterator is by inheritance through DirectoryIterator also an SplFileInfo object, it provides the setInfoClass method (it's not listed in the manual, but reflection shows it's there). Thus I can do: $rit->getInnerIterator()->setInfoClass('MyFileInfo'); All good up to here, but when iterating over the directory with foreach($rit as $file) { var_dump( $file ); } I get the following weird result object(MyFileInfo)#4 (3) { ["props"]=>UNKNOWN:0 ["pathName":"SplFileInfo":private]=>string(49) "/some/file/path/someFile.txt" ["fileName":"SplFileInfo":private]=>string(25) "someFile.txt" } So while MyFileInfo is picked up, I cannot access it's properties. If I add custom methods, I can invoke them fine, but any properties are UNKNOWN. If I don't set the info class to the iterator, but to the SplFileInfo object (like shown in the example in the manual), it will give the same UNKNOWN result: foreach($rit as $file) { // $file is a SplFileInfo instance $file->setInfoClass('MyFileInfo'); var_dump( $file->getFileInfo() ); } However, it will work when I do foreach($rit as $file) { $file = new MyFileInfo($file); var_dump( $file ); } Unfortunately, the code I a want to use this in is somewhat more complicated and stacks some more iterators. Creating the MyFileInfo class like this is not an option. So, does anyone know how to get this working or why PHP behaves this weird? Thanks.

  • Browser: Continue gif animation after escape is pressed

    - by cottsak
    Firefox (and other browsers i believe) stop gif animation when you click the Stop button or invoke it via the Escape key. I have a text input that on change makes ajax requests to update other elements. As part of this ajaxyness i have an animated gif to show feedback. I also trap the escape key press in this input so as to clear the text field for better UX. My problem is after the escape key is pressed once, none of the ajax gifs animate anymore until the page is refreshed. Does anyone know a workaround? Stuff i've tried: I tried the e.stopPropagation(); and e.cancelBubble = true; in the function handling the e.keyCode == 27 and that didn't seem to work. I suspect that this stops trigging more js events and the browser catches the escape irrespective of js activity. I have the gif showing/hiding via adding/removing a css class so it's difficult to apply the "change gif url to reset" workaround. I dont even know if this works anyway - didn't test it. But it seems difficult. If anyone knows that this works and knows of an easy way to apply the hack with background-image: url(../images/ajax-loader_dotcirclel13x13.gif); css then please let me know.

  • how can exec change the behavior of exec'ed program

    - by R Samuel Klatchko
    I am trying to track down a very odd crash. What is so odd about it is a workaround that someone discovered and which I cannot explain. The workaround is this small program which I'll refer to as 'runner': #include <stdio.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <string.h> #include <errno.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { if (argc == 1) { fprintf(stderr, "Usage: %s prog [args ...]\n", argv[0]); return 1; } execvp(argv[1], argv + 1); fprintf(stderr, "execv failed: %s\n", strerror(errno)); // If exec returns because the program is not found or we // don't have the appropriate permission return 255; } As you can see, all this program does is use execvp to replace itself with a different program. The program crashes when it is directly invoked from the command line: /path/to/prog args # this crashes but works fine when it is indirectly invoked via my runner shim: /path/to/runner /path/to/prog args # works successfully For the life of me, I can figure out how having an extra exec can change the behavior of the program being run (as you can see the program does not change the environment). Some background on the crash. The crash itself is happening in the C++ runtime. Specifically, when the program does a throw, the crashing version incorrectly thinks there is no matching catch (although there is) and calls terminate. When I invoke the program via runner, the exception is properly caught. My question is any idea why the extra exec changes the behavior of the exec'ed program?

  • Handling form from different view and passing form validation through session in django

    - by Mo J. Mughrabi
    I have a requirement here to build a comment-like app in my django project, the app has a view to receive a submitted form process it and return the errors to where ever it came from. I finally managed to get it to work, but I have doubt for the way am using it might be wrong since am passing the entire validated form in the session. below is the code comment/templatetags/comment.py @register.inclusion_tag('comment/form.html', takes_context=True) def comment_form(context, model, object_id, next): """ comment_form() is responsible for rendering the comment form """ # clear sessions from variable incase it was found content_type = ContentType.objects.get_for_model(model) try: request = context['request'] if request.session.get('comment_form', False): form = CommentForm(request.session['comment_form']) form.fields['content_type'].initial = 15 form.fields['object_id'].initial = 2 form.fields['next'].initial = next else: form = CommentForm(initial={ 'content_type' : content_type.id, 'object_id' : object_id, 'next' : next }) except Exception as e: logging.error(str(e)) form = None return { 'form' : form } comment/view.py def save_comment(request): """ save_comment: """ if request.method == 'POST': # clear sessions from variable incase it was found if request.session.get('comment_form', False): del request.session['comment_form'] form = CommentForm(request.POST) if form.is_valid(): obj = form.save(commit=False) if request.user.is_authenticated(): obj.created_by = request.user obj.save() messages.info(request, _('Your comment has been posted.')) return redirect(form.data.get('next')) else: request.session['comment_form'] = request.POST return redirect(form.data.get('next')) else: raise Http404 the usage is by loading the template tag and firing {% comment_form article article.id article.get_absolute_url %} my doubt is if am doing the correct approach or not by passing the validated form to the session. Would that be a problem? security risk? performance issues? Please advise Update In response to Pol question. The reason why I went with this approach is because comment form is handled in a separate app. In my scenario, I render objects such as article and all I do is invoke the templatetag to render the form. What would be an alternative approach for my case? You also shared with me the django comment app, which am aware of but the client am working with requires a lot of complex work to be done in the comment app thats why am working on a new one.

I'm currently trying to catch a broadcast message with the MovieViewControl class, already added the filter in the Manifest //In MovieViewControl private static final String SERVICECMD = "com.android.music.musicservicecommand"; private static final String CMDNAME = "command"; private static final String CMDPAUSE = "pause"; @Override public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { String intentAction = intent.getAction(); if (AudioManager.ACTION_AUDIO_BECOMING_NOISY.equals(intentAction)) { Intent i = new Intent(intent.ACTION_MAIN); i.setAction(SERVICECMD); i.putExtra(CMDNAME, CMDPAUSE); mVideoView.pause(); context.startActivity(i); } } but when I do my trial, I get this (very) huge exception: W/dalvikvm( 1630): threadid=3: thread exiting with uncaught exception (group=0x4001b1b8) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to instantiate receiver com.android.gallery.MovieViewControl: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.android.gallery.MovieViewControl in loader dalvik.system.PathClassLoader@438ff048 E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleReceiver(ActivityThread.java:2616) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$3100(ActivityThread.java:119) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:1913) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4363) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:860) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:618) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.android.gallery.MovieViewControl in loader dalvik.system.PathClassLoader@438ff048 E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): at dalvik.system.PathClassLoader.findClass(PathClassLoader.java:243) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:573) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:532) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleReceiver(ActivityThread.java:2609) E/AndroidRuntime( 1630): ... 10 more Any hints on what might I be missing?   • How do i select the preceding nodes of a text node starting from a specific node and not the root no

    - by Rachel
    How do i select the preceding nodes of a text node starting from a specific node whose id i know instead of getting the text nodes from the root node? When i invoke the below piece from a template match of text node, I get all the preceding text nodes from the root. I want to modify the above piece of code to select only the text nodes that appear after the node having a specific id say 123. i.e something like //*[@id='123'] <xsl:template match="text()[. is $text-to-split]"> <xsl:variable name="split-index" as="xsd:integer" select="$index - sum(preceding::text()/string-length(.))"/> <xsl:value-of select="substring(., 1, $split-index - 1)"/> <xsl:copy-of select="$new"/> <xsl:value-of select="substring(., $split-index)"/> </xsl:template> <xsl:variable name="text-to-split" as="text()?" select="descendant::text()[sum((preceding::text(), .)/string-length(.)) ge $index][1]"/> How do i include the condition in places where i use preceding::text inorder to select preceding text nodes relative to the specific node's id which i know?

  • Struts 2 how to display messages saved in a Interceptor which would redirec to another action?

    - by mui13
    in my interceptor, if user doesn't have enough right, there would be a warn message: public String intercept(ActionInvocation invocation) throws Exception { ActionContext actionContext = invocation.getInvocationContext(); Map<String, Object> sessionMap = actionContext.getSession(); User loginUser = (User) sessionMap.get("user"); Object action = invocation.getAction(); if (loginUser != null && loginUser.getRole().getId() != Constant.AUTHORITY_ADMIN) { ((ValidationAware) action).addFieldError("user.authority", ((DefaultAction) action).getText("user.action.authority.not.enough")); return DefaultAction.HOME_PAGE; } return invocation.invoke(); } then, it would redirect to "HOME_PAGE" action, if success, display information in the jsp. So how to display the warn message? i have used two interceptors configed in strust.xml, for admin right requirment: <interceptor-stack name="authorityStack"> <interceptor-ref name="authority" /> <interceptor-ref name="defaultStack" /> <interceptor-ref name="store"> <param name="operationMode">STORE</param> </interceptor-ref> </interceptor-stack> default is: <interceptor-stack name="default"> <interceptor-ref name="login" /> <interceptor-ref name="defaultStack" /> <interceptor-ref name="store"> <param name="operationMode">AUTOMATIC</param> </interceptor-ref> </interceptor-stack>

  • Update "Properties" model when adding a new record in CakePHP

    - by Paul Willy
    Hi, I'm writing an application in CakePHP that, for now, is to be used to make quotes for customers. So Quote is a model. I want to have a separate model/table for something like "Property," which may be used by other models. Each time a user gets to the "Add Quote" action, I basically want to pull a Property called "nextQuoteNumber" or something along those lines, and then automatically increment that property, even if the new Quote isn't saved. So I don't think just using an autoincrement for Quote's id is appropriate here - also, the "quote number" could be different from the row's id. I know this is simple enough to do, but I'm trying to figure out the "proper" CakePHP way of doing it! I'm thinking that I should have a method inside the Property model, say "getProperty($property_name)", which would pull the value to return, and also increment the value... but I'm not sure what the best way of doing that is, or how to invoke this method from the Quotes controller. What should I do? Thanks in advance!

  • C#'s equivalent to VB.Net's DirectCast?

    - by Collin Sauve
    This has probably been asked before, but if it has, I can't find it. Does C# have an equivalent to VB.Net's DirectCast? I am aware that it has () casts and the 'as' keyword, but those line up to CType and TryCast. To be clear, these keywords do the following; CType/() casts: If it is already the correct type, cast it, otherwise look for a type converter and invoke it. If no type converter is found, throw an InvalidCastException. TryCast/"as" keyword: If it is the correct type, cast it, otherwise return null. DirectCast: If it is the correct type, cast it, otherwise throw an InvalidCastException. EDIT: After I have spelled out the above, some people have still responded that () is equivalent, so I will expand further upon why this is not true. DirectCast only allows for either Narrowing or Widening conversions on inheritance tree, it does not support conversions across different branches like () does. ie: C#, this compiles and runs: //This code uses a type converter to go across an inheritance tree double d = 10; int i = (int)d; VB.Net, this does NOT COMPILE 'Direct cast can only go up or down a branch, never across to a different one. Dim d as Double= 10 Dim i as Integer = DirectCast(d, Integer) The equivalent in VB.Net to my C# code is CType: 'This compiles and runs Dim d as Double= 10 Dim i as Integer = CType(d, Integer) (Edit again, I was originally using strings, I changed it to double... sorry)

  • Finds in Rails 3 and ActiveRelation

    - by TheDelChop
    Guys, I'm trying to understand the new arel engine in Rails 3 and I've got a question. I've got two models, User and Task class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :tasks end class Task < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user end here is my routes to imply the relation: resources :users do resources :tasks end and here is my Tasks controller: class TasksController < ApplicationController before_filter :load_user def new @task = @user.tasks.new end private def load_user @user = User.where(:id => params[:user_id]) end end Problem is, I get the following error when I try to invoke the new action: NoMethodError: undefined method `tasks' for #<ActiveRecord::Relation:0x3dc2488> I am sure my problem is with the new arel engine, does anybody understand what I'm doing wrong? Sorry guys, here is my schema.db file: ActiveRecord::Schema.define(:version => 20100525021007) do create_table "tasks", :force => true do |t| t.string "name" t.integer "estimated_time" t.datetime "created_at" t.datetime "updated_at" t.integer "user_id" end create_table "users", :force => true do |t| t.string "email", :default => "", :null => false t.string "encrypted_password", :limit => 128, :default => "", :null => false t.string "password_salt", :default => "", :null => false t.string "reset_password_token" t.string "remember_token" t.datetime "remember_created_at" t.integer "sign_in_count", :default => 0 t.datetime "current_sign_in_at" t.datetime "last_sign_in_at" t.string "current_sign_in_ip" t.string "last_sign_in_ip" t.datetime "created_at" t.datetime "updated_at" t.string "username" end add_index "users", ["email"], :name => "index_users_on_email", :unique => true add_index "users", ["reset_password_token"], :name => "index_users_on_reset_password_token", :unique => true add_index "users", ["username"], :name => "index_users_on_username", :unique => true end Thank you, Joe

    - by rubby
    Hi all, My goal is : Third class will read the name of the class as String from console.Upon reading the name of the class, it will automatically and dynamically (!) generate that class and call its writeout method. If that class is not read from input, it will not be initialized. And I am taking java.lang.IllegalAccessException: Class deneme.class3 can not access a member of class java.lang.Object with modifiers "protected" error. And i don't know how i can fix it.. Can anyone help me? import java.io.*; import java.lang.reflect.*; class class3 { public void run() { try { BufferedReader reader= new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in)); String line=reader.readLine(); Class c1 = Class.forName("java.lang.String"); Object obj = new Object(); Class c2 = obj.getClass(); Method writeout = null; for( Method mth : c2.getDeclaredMethods() ) { writeout = mth; break; } Object o = c2.newInstance(); writeout.invoke( o ); } catch(Exception ee) { System.out.println("ERROR! • how to restart a Thread?

    - by wizztjh
    It is a RMI Server object , so many sethumanActivity() might be run , how do i make sure the previous changeToFalse thread will be stop or halt before the new changeToFalse run? t. interrupt ? Basically when sethumanActivity() is invoke , the humanActivity will be set to true , but a thread will be run to set it back to false. But I am thinking for how to disable or kill the thread when another sethumanActivity() invoked? public class VitaminDEngine implements VitaminD { public boolean humanActivity = false; changeToFalse cf = new changeToFalse(); Thread t = new Thread(cf); private class changeToFalse implements Runnable{ @Override public void run() { try { Thread.sleep(4000); } catch (InterruptedException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } humanActivity = false; } } @Override public void sethumanActivity() throws RemoteException { // TODO Auto-generated method stub humanActivity = true; t.start(); } public boolean gethumanActivity() throws RemoteException { // TODO Auto-generated method stub return humanActivity; } } Edited after the help of SOer package smartOfficeJava; import java.rmi.RemoteException; import java.util.concurrent.ExecutorService; import java.util.concurrent.Executors; public class VitaminDEngine implements VitaminD { public volatile boolean humanActivity = false; changeToFalse cf = new changeToFalse(); ExecutorService service = Executors.newSingleThreadExecutor(); private class changeToFalse implements Runnable{ @Override public void run() { try { Thread.sleep(4000); } catch (InterruptedException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } humanActivity = false; } } @Override public synchronized void sethumanActivity() throws RemoteException { humanActivity = true; service.submit(cf); } public synchronized boolean gethumanActivity() throws RemoteException { return humanActivity; } }

  • How to safely transfer reference to object across window?

    - by Morgan Cheng
    I'm debugging a web application. Javasript in one window create one object and use it as argument to invoke global method in another window. Pseudo code is like below. var obj = new Foo(); anotherWin.bar(obj); In anotherWin, the argument is stored in global variable. var g_obj; function bar(obj) { g_obj = obj; ... } When other function tries to reference g_obj.Id, it throws exception "Cannot evaluate expression". This happens in IE8.0.7600.16385 on Windows 7. In Visual Studio debugger, when this exception happens, the g_obj shows as {...} It looks all its properties are lost. Perhaps the root reason is the object is created in one window but only referenced in another window. The object might be garbage-collected at any time. Is there any way to work around this?
