  • php and mysql user tracking and reporting

    - by inertiahz
    Hi, I currently have a table which consists of user information and lesson id; the table layout looks like: ---------------------------------------------------- |employeeID|numVisits|lessonID1|lessonID2|lessonID3| ---------------------------------------------------- |33388 |2 |1 |0 |3 | and a lessons table which contains the information about the lesson: ------------------------------------------------------ |lessonID |cateogry |title |filepath |numberviews| ------------------------------------------------------ |1 |beginner |lesson |file:// |10 | Within the lessonID fields in the user table is an integer which tracks how many times someone has clicked on a lesson. Now what I am trying to do is in a report I have the top 5 people who have visited the site and would like to then be able to drill down into what lessons they have clicked on. Can anyone help with this? Or would restructuring the way the database is be an easier task? Thanks

  • Refining Search Results [PHP/MySQL]

    - by Dae
    I'm creating a set of search panes that allow users to tweak their results set after submitting a query. We pull commonly occurring values in certain fields from the results and display them in order of their popularity - you've all seen this sort of thing on eBay. So, if a lot of rows in our results were created in 2009, we'll be able to click "2009" and see only rows created in that year. What in your opinion is the most efficient way of applying these filters? My working solution was to discard entries from the results that didn't match the extra arguments, like: while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($query)) { foreach($_GET as $key => $val) { if($val !== $row[$key]) { continue 2; } } // Output... } This method should hopefully only query the database once in effect, as adding filters doesn't change the query - MySQL can cache and reuse one data set. On the downside it makes pagination a bit of a headache. The obvious alternative would be to build any additional criteria into the initial query, something like: $sql = "SELECT * FROM tbl MATCH (title, description) AGAINST ('$search_term')"; foreach($_GET as $key => $var) { $sql .= " AND ".$key." = ".$var; } Are there good reasons to do this instead? Or are there better options altogether? Maybe a temporary table? Any thoughts much appreciated!

  • PHP - Drilling down Data and Looping with Loops

    - by stogdilla
    I'm currently having difficulty finding a way of making my loops work. I have a table of data with 15 minute values. I need the data to pull up in a few different increments $filters=Array('Yrs','Qtr','Day','60','30','15'); I think I have a way of finding out what I need to be able to drill down to but the issue I'm having is after the first loop to cycle through all the Outter most values (ex: the user says they want to display by Hours, each hour should be able to have a "+" that will then add a new div to display the half hour data, then each half hour data have a "+" to display the 15 minute data upon request. Now I can just program the number of outputs for each value (6 different outputs) just in-case... but isn't there a way I can make it do the drill down for each one in a loop? so I only have to code one output once and have it just check if there are any more intervals after it and check for those? I'm sure I'm just overlooking some very simple way of doing this but my brain isn't being clever today. Sorry in advance if this is a simple solution. I guess the best way I could think of it as a reply on a form. How you would check to see if it's a reply of a reply, and then if that reply has any replys...etc for output. Can anyone help or at least point me in the right direction? Or am I stuck coding each possible check? Thanks in advance!

  • PHP readdir() not returning files in alphabetical order

    - by Buggabill
    I am reading through a directory with some pictures and such using a pretty simple implementation of readdir() like the following: if ($handle = opendir($path)) { while (false !== ($szFilename = readdir($handle))) { if ($szFilename[0] !== '.') { if (is_file($path.$szFilename)) { // do stuff } } } } The problem that I am having is that the files are not being read in alphabetical order as the docs for readdir() state: Returns the filename of the next file from the directory. The filenames are returned in the order in which they are stored by the filesystem. Another weird thing is that, on the local testing server, the same code works great. This is running on a server using the LAMP stack in both cases. I know that I can build an array and just sort it, but I was wondering if I was missing something in what I was doing. Thanks for any insight!

  • PHP/json My field names are being truncated to 30 characters. Can I stop this?

    - by Biff MaGriff
    Hi Everyone! Ok so I got this piece of vendor software that they said should be run on an apache php server and MySql database. I didn't have either of those so I put it on a PHP IIS server and I converted the code to work on SQL server. ex. mysql_select_db - mssql_select_db (among other things) So I have the following code in a php file $query = "SELECT * FROM TableName WHERE KEY_FIELD = '".$keyField."';"; $result = mssql_query($query); $arr = array(); while ( $obj = mssql_fetch_object($result) ) { $arr[] = $obj; } echo '{"results":'.json_encode($arr).'}'; and my results look something like this (captured with fiddler 2) {"results":[{"KEY_FIELD":"57", "My30characterlongfieldthatiscu":"GoodValue"}]} "My30characterlongfieldthatiscu" should be "My30characterlongfieldthatiscutoff" Kinda weird, no? The vendor claims that the app works perfectly on their end. I'm thinking this is some sort of IIS PHP limit, is there a way around it or can I expand it? I found this solution http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.mssql.php#74834 but I don't understand it. Thanks!

  • PHP something faster than explode to get filename from URL

    - by FFish
    My URL's can be absolute or relative: $rel = "date/album/001.jpg"; $abs = "http://www.site.com/date/album/image.jpg"; function getFilename($url) { $imgName = explode("/", $url); $imgName = $imgName[count($imgName) - 1]; echo $imgName; } There must be a faster way to do this right? Maybe a reg expression? But that's Chinese to me..

  • Dividing numbers between rows in MySQL + PHP

    - by André Figueira
    Hi I am working on a kind of raffle system which divides 1 million random numbers into an x amount of tickets, e.g. 1 million random numbers to 10,000 tickets. Each ticket is a row in a database, we then have another table ticket numbers in which i need to give 100 numbers to each ticket they are related by the ticket id. So at the moment this is my code: //Amount of the 1 million tickets divided to the tickets $numbersPerTickets = $_POST['numbersPerTicket']; //The total cost of the property $propertyPrice = $_POST['propertyPrice']; //The total amount of tickets $totalTickets = NUMBER_CIELING / $numbersPerTickets; //The ticket price $ticketPrice = $propertyPrice / $totalTickets; //Generate array with random numbers up to 999,999 $randomTicketNumbers = createTicketNumbers(); //Creation loop counter $ticketCreationCount = 1; //Loop and create each ticket while($ticketCreationCount <= $totalTickets) { //Create a padded ticket number $ticketNumber = str_pad($ticketCreationCount, 6, 0, STR_PAD_LEFT); $query = ' INSERT INTO tickets( propertyID, ticketNumber, price ) VALUES( "'.$propertyID.'", "'.$ticketNumber.'", "'.$ticketPrice.'" ) '; $db->query($query); //Get the ID of the inserted ticket to use to insert the ticket numbers $ticketID = $db->insert_id; $loopBreak = $numbersPerTickets; $addedNumberCount = 1; foreach($randomTicketNumbers as $key => $value) { $query = ' INSERT INTO ticketNumbers( ticketID, number ) VALUES( "'.$ticketID.'", "'.$value.'" ) '; $db->query($query); unset($randomTicketNumbers[$key]); if($addedNumberCount == $loopBreak){ break; }else{ $addedNumberCount++; } } $ticketCreationCount++; } But this isn't working it adds the right amount of tickets, which in the case for testing is 10,000 but then adds far too many ticket numbers, it ends up exceeding the million numbers in the random tickets array, The random tickets array is just a simple 1 tier array with 1 million numbers sorted randomly.

  • php read CSV with various amount of delimiters

    - by jreed121
    I've got a script that reads in from a CSV file and sometimes the CSV files it receives contains an uneven amount of delimiters/columns so the first row could have 30 columns, the 2nd could have 20, etc. I can think of a few solutions myself ie: Count the delimiters in the widest row, then append the proper amount to each row that is short to make them even. But I was wondering if anyone had a more elegant method of doing this.

  • Check variable if explode-able in PHP

    - by ZaneDeFazio
    Not sure if there is a way to check a variable if it is explode-able or not... I have a database of city names some are one word cities and some are multiple word cities EX: Chicago, Los Angeles I keep getting an error when use "implode" when a city name is one word, so I tried using "count" and using an if statement... not having any luck $citi = explode(' ', $row['city']); $count = count($citi); if ($count > 1) { $city = implode('+', $citi); } else { $city = $citi; }

  • php nested for statements?

    - by Dashiell0415
    I'm trying to process a for loop within a for loop, and just a little wary of the syntax... Will this work? Essentially, I want to run code for every 1,000 records while the count is equal to or less than the $count... Will the syntax below work, or is there a better way? for($x = 0; $x <= 700000; $x++) { for($i = 0; $i <= 1000; $i++) { //run the code } }

  • How do I get require_login()-like functionality using the new PHP Client Library for Facebook?

    - by cc
    Howdy. I've been tasked with making a Facebook game, but I'm new to Facebook development, so I'm just getting started. Apologies in advance if this is a no-brainer to people. I'm having trouble following all the examples I see on sites, and I keep running into missing pages in the Facebook documentation when I am trying to read up. I think it's because there's a new version of the PHP Client Library for Facebook, and everything I'm finding is referring to the old client. For instance, I see this code in a lot of examples: require 'facebook.php'; $facebook = new Facebook( array( 'appId' => '(id)', 'secret' => '(secret)' ) ); $facebook_account = $facebook->require_login(); ...but there's no "require_login()" in the client library provided in the facebook.php file. From what I can tell, it looks like Facebook has very recently rolled out some new system for development, but I don't see any sample code anywhere to deal with it. The new library comes with an "example.php" file, but it appears to be only for adding "Log in with Facebook" functionality to other sites (what I'm assuming is what they mean by "Facebook Connect" sites), not for just running apps in a Canvas page on Facebook itself. Specifically, what I need to do is let users visit an application page within Facebook, have it bring up the dialog box allowing them to authorize the app, have it show up in their "games" page, and then have it pass me the relevant info about the user so I can start creating the game. But I can't seem to find any tutorials or examples that show how to do this using the new library. Seems like this should be pretty straightforward, but I'm running into roadblocks. Or am I missing something about the PHP client library? Should require_login() be working for me, and there's something broken with my implementation, such as having the wrong client library or something? I downloaded from GitHub yesterday, so I'm pretty sure I have the most recent version of the code I have, but perhaps I'm downloading the wrong "facebook.php" file...?

    Hello, I must warn you, this code will heart your eyes, so please don't judge me, i'm trying to improve the way I handle errors all my tests are like this : if ($something < 27) { $error_IP= '<div class="error_message">something bad</div> '; }else{ $erreur_IP=''; } and here's the ugliest thing : if( !isset($_POST) || ($erreur_captcha !='') || ($erreur_email !='') || ($erreur_hebergeurVide != '') || ($erreur_paysVide != '') || ($erreur_slotVide != '') || ($erreur_rconVide != '') || ($erreur_tick != '') + a lot more :d ) What do you suggest to me to optimize my errors handling ?   • Escaping quotes twice in PHP

    - by Genadinik
    Hello, I have a complicated form where I first have to take some _GET parameters and obviously I have to do a mysql_real_escape_string() on them since I look stuff up in the database with them. Them problem for me is after the initial db lookup. When the user submits a form, I send them along as a _POST request and obviously have to do this mysql_real_escape_string call again just in case someone tries to hack my site with a faked form submission. Then the problem I have is the arguments are escaped twice and my queries begin to look strange like this: select field1 , field2 , from my_table where some_id = \'.$lookup_id.\' ... So the system seems to be adding \' and it is messing me up :) Also, in my other forms I have not seen such behavior. Any ideas on what may be causing this? One weird thing is that I tried to send unescaped parameters to the post, and the same problem happens. That is a clue, but not a sufficient one for me. :( Thanks, Alex

  • How can I measure the time it takes a file to upload to a PHP script?

    - by Gustav Bertram
    I am trying to measure the time a script takes to upload a file to a PHP script, inside the receiving script. Here's a short example: <form action="#" enctype="multipart/form-data" method="post"> Upload: <input type="file" name="datafile" size="40"> <input type="submit" value="Send"> </form> <?php $upload_time = time() - $_SERVER['REQUEST_TIME']; echo $upload_time . " seconds."; I've submitted 4MB, 25MB, 100MB and 1.4GB files. They took anything from a fraction of a second, to almost a minute, yet the script above always yielded 0 seconds. NOTE: I know that this is a duplicate question, but the accepted answer on the other question did not work for me (at least, initially): Detect how long it takes for a file to upload (PHP) I've tried it using PHP 5.3.3 with Apache 2.2.16 on Ubuntu 10.4. UPDATE: I've discovered that both the Apache header and Ajax solutions work. In fact, the solution on the duplicate question also works. The critical element to making these solutions work is to ensure that the following values in the php.ini are sufficiently high: memory_limit = 1000M upload_max_filesize = 1000M post_max_size = 1000M I am accepting the Apache header solution, since it only uses PHP.

  • php multidimensional array problem

    - by ntan
    Hi to all, i am trying to setup a multidimensional array but my problem is that i can not get the right order from incoming data. Explain $x[1][11]=11; $x[1]=1; var_dump($x); In the above code i get only x[1]. To right would be $x[1]=1; $x[1][11]=11; var_dump($x); But in my case i can dot ensure that x[1] will come first, and x[1][11] will come after. Is there any way that i can use the first example and get right the array. Keep in mind that the array depth is large. Thats

  • PHP REMOTE_ADDR and secure sessions

    - by Christopher McCann
    One of the ways I have used to make securer sessions in the past is to also record the clients IP address and user agent at the handshake. Each time the client moves a page and calls session_start() I also check that the IP address and user agent stored is still the same to prevent hiijacking. But if someone is connecting from say a company network then all the users will probably have the same external static IP address and they could also really easily be using the same user agent. Is there other metrics I can use which are local only to the physical machine? Thanks

  • Upload image using CURL + PHP via remote form

    - by user253530
    I have a few images that i need to upload using an online form. So far here's my code $info = array('test title','1234','virginia','@'.realpath('e:\wamp\www\1.jpg'),'@'.realpath('e:\wamp\www\2.jpg'),'@'.realpath('e:\wamp\www\3.jpg'),'@'.realpath('e:\wamp\www\4.jpg'),'test description'); $post->postAd($url, $info); The $info array is processed in the postAd method and it's being sent as an associative array using a method from a Curl class i have (it has been tested and worked nicely with everything i needed to do so far with curl). The problem is that the data is completed correctly on the form but the images are not uploaded. Can anyone help with advices/code/guidance?

  • PHP use function return value as array

    - by Richard Knop
    Why is it that this works: $cacheMatchesNotPlayed = $cache->load('externalData'); $cacheMatchesNotPlayed = $cacheMatchesNotPlayed['matchesNotPlayed']; But this doesn't work: $cacheMatchesNotPlayed = $cache->load('externalData')['matchesNotPlayed']; Is there some reason for it? The second bit is easier to write.
