  • what's the use of 0 in wait system call?

    - by Supereme
Hi, The syntax for the wait system call is pid= wait(&var) where pid is the process id of child and var is the variable which will contain the reason for exiting child. But what happens when we use wait((int *)0)? What does it exactly mean? Thank you.

How to create a new data type for Go which to can check/validate its schema when is created a new variable (of that type)? By example, to validate if a string has 20 characters, I tried: // Format: 2006-01-12T06:06:06Z func date(str string) { if len(str) != 20 { fmt.Println("error") } } var Date = date() type Account struct { domain string username string created Date } but it fails because Date is not a type.

  • iOS - Prompt User to Update to Latest App Version

    - by Kevin_TA
Is there any method or plugin available that will alert the user to upgrade an app if the version they are using is not the latest? I suppose I could ping a web service to check what the current version is and compare with the user's version and go from there. As an aside, is there a way to check the current version of the app (some property I don't know about) or do you simply have to hardcode the version as some float variable or something? Thanks

  • [Smarty] Looking for variables which aren't assigned.

    - by Kel
What could happen if my template looks for variables which weren't assigned? For example: var uwfs_id = '{$tpl_uwfs_id}'; This snippet is from my javascript code. I outputted the value and it is simply empty. I know I could use isset(). But I couldn't find anything about how Smarty handles non-existing variables. So, what happens if template can't find a variable, because it wasn't assigned?

  • Testing local scoped object with mockito without refactoring

    - by supertonsky
Say I have the following code: public class ClassToTest { AnotherClass anotherClass; public void methodToTest( int x, int y ) { int z = x + y anotherClass.receiveSomething( z ); } } public class AnotherClass { public void receiveSomething( int z ) {.. do something.. } } I want to make assertion on the value of the variable z. How do I do this? Variables x, y, and z could be some other Java class types, and I just used "int" for simplicity.

  • Cache an FTP connection for use via AJAX?

    - by Chad Johnson
I'm working on a Ruby web Application that uses the Net::FTP library. One part of it allows users to interact with an FTP site via AJAX. When the user does something, and AJAX call is made, and then Ruby reconnects to the FTP server, performs an action, and outputs information. Every time the AJAX call is made, Ruby has to reconnect to the FTP server, and that's slow. Is there a way I could cache this FTP connection? I've tried caching in the session hash, but "We're sorry, but something went wrong" is displayed, and a TCP dump is outputted in my logs whenever I attempt to store it in the session hash. I haven't tried memcache yet. Any suggestions?

  • How to use a Proxy with Youtube API? (Python)

    - by Kate
Hi, I'm working a script that will upload videos to YouTube with different accounts. Is there a way to use HTTPS or SOCKS proxies to filter all the requests. My client doesn't want to leave any footprints for Google. The only way I found was to set the proxy environment variable beforehand but this seems cumbersome. Is there some way I'm missing? Thanks :)

  • C# Search for subdirectory (not for files)...

    - by Brad
Every example I see seems to be for recursively getting files in subdirectories uses files only. What I'm trying to do is search a folder for a particular subdirectory named "xxx" then save that path to a variable so I can use it for other things. Is this possible without looping through all the directories and comparing by name?

  • Is this technically thread safe despite being mutable?

    - by Finbarr
Yes, the private member variable bar should be final right? But actually, in this instance, it is an atomic operation to simply read the value of an int. So is this technically thread safe? class foo { private int bar; public foo(int bar) { this.bar = bar; } public int getBar() { return bar; } } // assume infinite number of threads repeatedly calling getBar on the same instance of foo.

  • Customs toString in Java not giving desired output and throwing error

    - by user2972048
I am writing a program in Java to accept and validate dates according to the Gregorian Calendar. My public boolean setDate(String aDate) function for an incorrect entry is suppose to change the boolean goodDate variable to false. That variable is suppose tell the toString function, when called, to output "Invalid Entry" but it does not. My public boolean setDate(int d, int m, int y) function works fine though. I've only included the problem parts as its a long piece of code. Thanks public boolean setDate(int day, int month, int year){ // If 1 <= day <= 31, 1 <= month <= 12, and 0 <= year <= 9999 & the day match with the month // then set object to this date and return true // Otherwise, return false (and do nothing) boolean correct = isTrueDate(day, month, year); if(correct){ this.day = day; this.month = month; this.year = year; return true; }else{ goodDate = false; return false; } //return false; } public boolean setDate(String aDate){ // If aDate is of the form "dd/mm/yyyy" or "d/mm/yyyy" // Then set the object to this date and return true. // Otherwise, return false (and do nothing) Date d = new Date(aDate); boolean correct = isTrueDate(d.day, d.month, d.year); if(correct){ this.day = d.day; this.month = d.month; this.year = d.year; return true; }else{ goodDate = false; return false; } } public String toString(){ // outputs a String of the form "dd/mm/yyyy" // where dd must be 2 digits (with leading zero if needed) // mm must be 2 digits (with leading zero if needed) // yyyy must be 4 digits (with leading zeros if needed) String day1; String month1; String year1; if(day<10){ day1 = "0" + Integer.toString(this.day); } else{ day1 = Integer.toString(this.day); } if(month<10){ month1 = "0" + Integer.toString(this.month); } else{ month1 = Integer.toString(this.month); } if(year<10){ year1 = "00" + Integer.toString(this.year); } else{ year1 = Integer.toString(this.year); } if(goodDate){ return day1 +"/" +month1 +"/" + year1; }else{ goodDate = true; return "Invalid Entry"; } } Thank you

  • How should I set up these tables for searching?

    - by thewebguy
My PHP site is an online store with about 5k products. Products belong to a vendor, a category, and possibly a subcategory. Each of those items has a name and the products have descriptions. The search queries we've set up work wonderfully, but tend to run pretty slow. They range between 0.20s and 30s (yes 30 seconds). We've optimized like crazy and I'm starting to think we're out of room to improve on that front, so we're caching them and that's making life a lot easier. But when they run they are still killing the server, because what appears to be all of the table locking that comes with MyISAM. So on to my question: Is there a way for us to use InnoDB (row-level locking) and still maintain FULLTEXT? Should we move our DB offsite and use a service like DB2? Is there some other search engine type software we should use instead? Any help is greatly appreciated :)
