Hello, we have a problem related to the manifest file and the property "android:minSdkVersion".
The issue is: If our platform is 2.0 and we use the property "android:minSdkVersion=3" (3 = sdk 1.5) the graphics get corrupted (In details, the application's resolution get reduced to a 2/3 part of the original size, this is, when the resolution should be 480x720, it becomes in a 320x480). This is happening on the Android emulator, and on the devices Droid/Milestone (Which are platforms 2.0). When we switch the property to "android:minSdkVersion=4" (4 = sdk 1.6) the problem gets solved, but when we want to put that version on platform 1.5, Android doesn't allow us to install it.
It would help us to know any conflict regarding graphics within the 2.0 sdk, or any known problem around the "android:minSdkVersion" in the manifest.
Thanks!

I also added this but it had not effect:
listView.setChoiceMode(ListView.CHOICE_MODE_SINGLE);
> <CheckedTextView

> android:layout_width="fill_parent"
> android:paddingLeft="2px"
> android:paddingRight="2px"
> android:paddingTop="2px"
> android:layout_height="wrap_content"

Ok so I have two BroadcastReceiver registered. When the app is closed they both fire at the appropriate times and do the appropriate things.
If the app is closed then killed (say with an AppKiller), the receivers never receive their broadcasts, and nothing happens.
Presumably the same thing happens if the parent app is killed due to low memory, so how do I ensure those broadcasts are fired/received. The API states that even if the app is killed it should fire, does anyone else have experience with this situation?
If it helps my manifest is:
<!-- receivers for AlarmManager -->
<receiver
android:exported="true"
android:label="Shift roster updating calendar."
android:name="com.skooter.shiftroster.backend.service.UpdateCalendar"
>
</receiver>
<receiver
android:exported="true"
android:label="Shift roster checking alarm."
android:name="com.skooter.shiftroster.backend.service.SetWakeup"
>
</receiver>
and nothing esoteric is going on in the AlarmManager/BroadcastReceivers
Hey there,
I've heard about web scraping software that can take data from a webpage. i'm building an android app and I want to take information from this site www.menupages.ie
All I need is the names of the restaurants, and typing them in myself would be very tedious.
Can someone tell me how i'd go about doing this in eclipse, what methods i need etc.
I dont know anything about it.
Thanks alot.
Hi All,

I'm up and running in Eclipse, have worked through several tutorials and would like to start developing my first marketable app. Is there anyplace I can find a comprehensive list or catalog of what's available on the Android marketplace? I'd hate to waste a lot of development time building an app that has twelve free versions already available.
Hi
In an android app I am using a tabview for an app and one of the tabs shows a webview. But the page is blank until the web page loads. how would one show a progress bar until the page loads. It cannot be in the title bar because that is hidden by the tabhost
Is it possible to add a button to the right corner of the app title?
e.g., adding a "refresh" button to the title of "Feed: my feeds"?
http://www.android.com/market/apps/feedr-lg-01.jpg
Title says it all. My app code is starting to get unmanageable and I want to start source control, primarily because I need to branch my code.
What are some good systems that you have used in the past and what would you recommend to me.
Requirements:
Must be free
Must integrate with eclipse
Must work well with android development plugin
I set up the "Dungeons" InAppBilling example locally and I am ready to try it out, but I am a bit confused. I have a button like this:
Button donate = (Button)findViewById(R.id.donate);
donate.setOnClickListener(new Button.OnClickListener()
{
public void onClick(View v)
{
// But what do I do here? :)
}
});
And when it is called, what do I need to do to actually go to the pay screen on android store?
Thanks!
I'm trying to place a red tint on all the screens of my iPhone application. I've experimented on a bitmap and found I get the effect I want by compositing a dark red color onto the screen image using Multiply (kCGBlendModeMultiply).
So the question is how to efficiently do this in real time on the iPhone?
One dumb way might be to grab a bitmap of the current screen, composite into the bitmap and then write the composited bitmap back to the screen. This seems like it would almost certainly be too slow. In addition, I need some way of knowing when part of the screen has been redrawn so I can update the tinting.
I can almost get the effect I want by putting a red, translucent, fullscreen UIView above everything. That tints everything red within further intervention on my part, but the effect is much "muddier" than results from the composite.
So do any wizards out there know of some mechanism I can use to automatically composite the red over the app in similar fashion to what the translucent red UIView does?
Seems like I'm having some problems after updating my android sdk tools and platform-tools using the sdk manager. The problem is that, after updating, I found that the avd or sdk options in the windows dropdown menu in eclipse are gone! And, I can't find any option to create an android project from file-new projects any more.
I tried removing the ADT from eclipse and the software site "https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/" from "available software sites" and then reinstalled the ADT from "https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/" using help-install new software. The installation was successful, but I still don't have any option for shortcuts to the SDK manager or the AVD in eclipse, and neither can I create a new android project.
By the way, the android perspectives are not gone, they are still here. Also, I can manually open the avd and sdk manager from the directory where I have installed them.
Can anyone please show me a workaround? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Everyone,
I was checking out the Google Maps Data API and I was wondering if I can follow their Java Development guide to use it on the Android platform? I want to display routes that I have created on Google Maps on the phone.
Thanks,

Is it possible to use TeamCity with an Idea 9 project project that has 3 .iml modules where 2 are Java based and 1 in an Android module?
Hi everyone,
I would like to create a footer which is relative to the content (so not fixed), but fills the rest of the screen. So for example, on my larger monitor, the footer would start in the same place, but fill up 100px (for example). On a smaller monitor, it only needs to fill up 75px. I tried using 100%, but it causes the page to be really big and the user can scroll down and fill the entire screen with the footer. Is there a way to get it to be a bit more reasonable size, so that it just about fills the bottom of the screen?
My current code is this:
.footer
{
position:relative; //can't be fixed as content might overlap if extended
height:100%;
width:100%; //fill the entire screen horizontally
bottom:0px;
margin-top:345px; //used to make sure content doesn't overlap
}
Thanks for any ideas
How can I integrate services like Google or Microsoft and use information from the user like Google Calendar information. For example, how would I sync the Microsoft Outlook notes with an app on Android?
I want to store locations in my Android phone and be able for the application to tell me if I am inside these points&radius.
What is the best way to store many point&radius locations and efficiently query for them?
I have an android phone and am thinking of a project in which I will need to modify the operating system and reinstall it to the phone. Is this possible to do so? Can i be sure my phone is not gonna give up on me?
Thanks.
How to make button show it is clicked (by setting it go down/some change) for buttons using custom background image in Android.
I do not want to include more images and set different one to different states like shown in google views example.
Thanks.
I successfully implemented an application that works on ipad as well as on iphone.
In that I provided option to user to send the screen shot of the application as mail attachment. Even that is functioning well.
But my code is taking screen shot irrespective of orientation. The image i'm getting is always in portrait mode.
I want to take the screen shot depending on the orientation of ipad/iphone and send the image as attachment. I'm using following code to take the screen shot.
UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(screenWindow.frame.size);
[screenWindow.layer renderInContext:UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()];
UIImage *screenshot = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext();
UIGraphicsEndImageContext();
In my android app I have a Tabhost with a ListView as one of the tabs. By clicking on an item in the ListView (an address) I start an Intent to Google Maps for directions and the choice dialog pops up for google maps, web browser etc. Problem is if I press the hard back button then the launch dialog goes away but also the ListView is cleared. Any idea why?
