• jQuery inserting comment help

  Hey all, i am trying to learn how to insert a comment within some html code without having to refresh the page. I know jQuery is capable of inserting a comment into a div area but i am having problems finding an example like that with fading in. • Resize the /var directory in redhat enterprise edition 4

  I am running NDB mysql. the log files fills up the /var directory. therefore i cant start the ndbd service now. as a temporary fix, i have deleted the log files and again working fine. but again the log files fill up the /var directory. i got plenty of space in other partition. therefore i would like to swap the partition from one directory to /var. here if my input from df -h Filesystem Type Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00 ext3 54G 2.9G 49G 6% / /dev/cciss/c0d0p1 ext3 99M 14M 81M 14% /boot none tmpfs 1013M 0 1013M 0% /dev/shm /dev/cciss/c0d0p2 ext3 9.7G 9.7G 0 100% /var there are plenty of space in /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00. Therefore i will like to swap 10 G space from this directory to /var. could you please help me out to solve this problem?

• Bitfield With 3 States...?

  I'm trying to create an authorization scheme for my ASP.NET MVC application where an Enum is used to set permissions. For example: [Flags] enum Permissions { ReadAppointments = 1, WriteAppointments = 2 | ReadAppointments, ReadPatients = 4, WritePatients = 8 | ReadPatients, ReadInvoices = 16, WriteInvoices = 32 | ReadInvoices ... } But I don't really like that because it really doesn't make it clear that Write always includes Read. I then realized that a requirement would be that a user might have NO access to, for example, Appointments. Essentially, I'd want a "bitfield" with 3 states: none, readonly, full (read/write). I'd like to still use an enum bitfield since it's easy to store in a DB (as an int). Also it's very easy to see if a permission is set. Does anyone have any idea how this could be easily accomplished using an Enum... or am I going in the completely wrong direction?

• Custom SQL Server driver

  I had a crazy thought about writing my own SQL Server driver to make it work something like non-blocking http client, so it won't be thread thirsty and could handle lots of db queries within one thread. I tried to look over google for some guidelines about implementing SQL Server client protocol, but found none really, where do those guys get information about it when they write own implementations for PHP or python? I need a really low level to be documented so I can implement all phases of working with a connection through sockets. And would be really nice to have a an example in c# language. :)

• How to turn off Video Acceleration programatically.

  Im using the Windows Media Player OCX in a program runned on hundreds of computers (dedicated). I have found out that when video acceleration is turned on to "full", on some computers it will cause the video to fail to play correct, with green squares between movies and so on. Turn the acceleration to "None" and everything is fine. This program is runned on ~800 computers that will autoupdate my program. So I want to add to the startup to my program that it turns off the video acceleration. The question is, how do I turn off video Acceleration Programatically? All computers are running XP and at least the second service pack. It would take me ages to manually logg in to all those computers and change that setting so thats why I want the program to be able to do it automagically for me.

  I'm trying to write a SQLCLR function that takes a DateTime2 as input and returns another DateTime2. Based on this post I altered the parameter to be the C# type DateTime giving me the level of precision I require.   I've looked at the routing on StackOverflow and I've got a very noobie question, but something I'd like clarification none the less. I'm looking specifically at the Users controller http://stackoverflow.com/Users http://stackoverflow.com/Users/Login http://stackoverflow.com/Users/124069/rockinthesixstring What I'm noticing is that there is a "Users" controller probably with a default "Index" action, and a "Login" action. The problem I am facing is that the login action can be ignored and a "UrlParameter.Optional [ID]" can also be used. How exactly does this look in the RegisterRoutes collection? Or am I missing something totally obvious? • Post Loading ads from Google Admanager

  I have changed code around to basically load an add the bottom of the page in a hidden div and attached an onload event handler that called document.getElementById(xxx).appendChild() to take the hidden ad and move it into the right spot in my page. This works GREAT.. however when the ad is a text ad it AFTER i move the ad there is nothing in the rendered Iframe. I did tests to see what it looks like before i move it and sure enough the text links load in the IFRAME but the second i do the appendChild call to move the div that contains the ad i seem to loose the contents of the Iframe.   I am building a C# ASP.NET page where I want to call a stored procedure in a database. I have setup a SqlDataSource which points to the stored procedure. Parameters are obtained from the Web's control directly (TextBox) I have a button, when the user clicks it it should run the stored procedure, so I was going to add code like this : mySqlDataSource.run() or mySqlDataSource.exec() or mySqlDataSource.storedProcedure() but of course none of these methods exist. How do I initial the stored procedure? and how do I get the value returned by the stored procedure please? Thank you!

We're actively developing a new product and as such we often have additions or changes to our DB schema. We also have many copies of the DB -- one for the test environment, one for the prod environment, dev environments, you name it. We don't really want to have to blow away test data every time we want to make a change to the DB. Are there good ways of automating this or handling this? • modalpopupextender.Show() wont fire

  I'm pretty new to developing for the web so bare with me. I have a company page with multiple locations and emails etc at each of these addresses. The idea is to have a single modalpopup to edit each type of data (one for email, one for urls, one for addresses etc). I link the modalpopupextender to a hiddenbutton and then call an edit function from various places where I can populate some hiddenfields and textboxes in the panel before showing it. • VirtualHost problem with passenger (mod_rails)

  Hi all, I'm at my wit's end here with virtual hosting. I'm trying to install redmine and it works with the webrick test server, but when I tried to use passenger (mod_rails) to host and go to the address I specified when in the virtualhost part of my apache config file nothing happens. Here is the relavent section of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf where I try to set up the virtual host: <VirtualHost *:80> SetEnv RAILS_ENV production ServerName redmine.MYSITE.com:80 DocumentRoot /opt/redmine-1.0.5/public/ <Directory /opt/redmine-1.0.5/public/> Options -MultiViews Allow from all AllowOverride none </Directory> However, when I got to redmine.MYSITE.com:80 nothing happens, I just get our normal home page. I have no idea what the problem is, any help our guidance would be greatly appreciated. If you need any other information, please tell me and I'll provide it.

Secondly, I need to perform a query where I enter in the month and it should return me the tree name that match the search criteria. For example If I search for "Jan" the result should be Tree1,Tree2,Tree3,Tree5 "Jan,Feb,Mar" the result should be Tree1,Tree3,Tree5 "Jan,Feb,Mar,Apr" the result should be Tree5 "Sep,Oct,Nov,Dec" the result should be none Which SQL query do I have to use in order to obtain the above result? • AIR for Android, Flash iphone packager, Playbook support for streaming camera and choosing camera

  I am wondering if anyone can definitively tell me if Flash / AIR can find all these mobile devices front facing camera and use RTMP to stream the video captured ? I would like to create a video conferencing app for these devices. Of course none of them support testing this in the simulators and I don't have the funds to purchase or access all of them that I would like to test. Wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me. I have seen some posts where they have done this for android but not sure about support for finding a list of cameras, choosing one and streaming from iphone 4 and playbook. thanks for any help on this.

  I'm starting a blog and i'm in the process of choosing where should i host it. For now i want a free solution like Blogger or Wordpress.com. The problem i'm facing is that i want to use files i have in a S3 bucket in my blog but none of the blog solutions i found supports any kind of server code, which means that in order to use S3 query string authentication i would have to put vulnerable information in the client. For obvious reasons i don't want to do that. So, i'm looking for ideas on how i can safely include content from S3 in a free blog host.

• Any way to access the type of a Scala Option declaration at runtime using reflection?

  So, I have a Scala class that looks like this: class TestClass { var value: Option[Int] = None } and I'm tackling a problem where I have a String value and I want to coerce it into that Option[Int] at runtime using reflection. To do so, I need to know that the field is an Option and that the type parameter of the Option is Int. What are my options for figuring out that the type of 'value' is Option[Int] at runtime (i.e. using reflection)? I have seen similar problems solved by annotating the field, e.g. @OptionType(Int.class). I'd prefer a solution that didn't require annotations on the reflection target if possible.

  This one is driving me nuts. According to GTK's site, there exists GTK_MAJOR_VERSION, GTK_MINOR_VERSION, and GTK_MICRO_VERSION constants. However, none of these work: echo GTK_MAJOR_VERSION; echo GtK::MAJOR_VERISON; echo Gtk::GTK_MAJOR_VERSION; etc Also, Gtk::check_version(2,12,0) always fails even though I have a higher version. I'd like to simply get the actual version number and not rely on check_version, which seems unreliable. How can I do this? I need to do it within PHP, platform independent.

I did the ./seam generate to reverse my current postgres db, which contains 4 tables, first I though everything was okay, just a warning message, but when I imported the project into eclipse, I saw that none of my packages had any class. This is the error that seam generate, got me. • Installed Android on Mac, cannot find SDK

  Using Mac OS X 10.6.2, Eclipse SDK 3.5.2. I installed the Android plugin, following the instructions at: http://developer.android.com/sdk/eclipse-adt.html In the next section (step #3) it says: For the SDK Location in the main panel, click Browse... and locate your downloaded SDK directory. I cannot find such a directory. When I try some other directory, it says the directory has no 'tools' folder, so I've searched for a 'tools' folder, but none of those found (of 15 or 20) appear to be Android.
