  • URL redirect to a virtual server on a VLAN

    I have a production site, running off 10 servers. I've been given another virtual server on the same network as these 10 servers, to use for testing purposes. This server doesn't have it's own DNS entry. Therefore I need to do a redirect to the site hosted on this virtual server for a sub-domain of the site running on the 10 other servers. So Basically I was wondering how I would configure a sub domain of my production server to point at the Virtual server for testing. I'm guessing I need to modify my site file in /etc/apache2/sites-available and add another virtual host like the following and modify the redirect match: <VirtualHost *> ServerName SUBDOMAIN.DOMAIN.com RedirectMatch 301 (.*) **IP ADDRESS** CustomLog /var/log/apache2/SUBDOMAIN.DOMAIN.com.access.log combined </VirtualHost> Do I set the redirect match to just the IP on the Virtual server, and then configure another site file in the sites-available directory, which will recption this redirect and point the browser towards the HTML root?   • How can I use Mongrel for my non-rails ruby webapp?

    I've got a non-RoR but ruby webapp in the works. So far, I've just been using requests, hacks, and mod_ruby; but I'd really like to try out Mongrel--which seems to work really well for RoR sites. I looked at the examples given in GitHub, and none of them does dynamic changing of content w/o having to restart Mongrel like you can do in RoR under dev mode. How can I do this? (Just using load doesn't work.)

  • Switching between landscape views

    What is the best way to switch between views that are both in Landscape mode? I've tried with a simple "Push and Pop" methods that work fine when I try them with Portrait views but when I do it with Landscape for some reason it does the switching like the method was supposed to work just for Portrait views and a the end of the switch it autorotates back to Landscape.... if anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated.   • Monitor USB optical mouse activity for movement and call a program on Windows

    I'm essentially looking to monitor a USB port input for whatever happens when the optical mouse detects its own movement and turns itself on. These mice usually have a dim red light when in "standby" mode and then the red light becomes brighter once you start moving it around. I want to use Visual Basic or something else native to the Windows environment to open an exe file or play a wav sound or call a bat file when the mouse "wakes up". Any suggestions or pushes in the right direction are appreciated.

I have an hosted DNS for public resources (which are typically at some data centre somewhere) Occasionally while on our internal network I need to get to a public resource --- for example www.ourcompany.com since there isn't a www record in our internal DNS I cant get the name resolved. How do I configure my DNS to forward names it doesn't recognise to the public DNS. Update: As per the comment yes I have a "split-horizon" dns (which seemed like a good idea at the time) This AD setup is less than 24 hours old, and can be redone if need be -- (although I would rather not)

  • Domain Outlook user is asked for password every time despite checking the 'remember password' button

    We have a windows 2003 domain. All users have roaming profiles. We have a couple of users who, when they log into outlook, are asked for their password every time, despite selecting the 'remember my password' option. Our email is externally hosted exchange email. I've tried several fixes found on google such as deleting 'protect' folder in the user's profile, and deleting protect key in the registry but none work. I tried storing the password in windows' password/credentials manager, didn't work. It happens on any PC the users log into so it's not a machine specific problem. Any ideas? OS is Windows XP pro. Outlook is 2007.

  • Outlook receives winmail.txt attachment instead of Excel, PowerPoint or Word attachments from Lotus

    Ok so the title pretty much says it all. We are offering a Hosted Exchange solution for our customer. Everything is working fine except for one customer complaining that he is receiving winmail.dat or winmail.txt attachments instead of the actual Word Excel or PowerPoint attachments he should be receiving, only when these messages come from a specific European senders, that is using Lotus Notes. I know that usually the problem is coming from Outlook senders to other mail clients, but this is not the first they inform me of this but I can't find anything on the matter so far. Has anyone ever gotten and solved this problem? If not, does anyone have any idea regarding this? I had solved this problem a few months ago, by upgrading Outlook to SP2 and then uninstalling it using the Service Pack removing tool of Microsoft. It seems that only the latest SP1 version could work but not the SP2. The problem is that now nothing is working at all. Thank you for your help, Philippe

    I have datagrid with list of MyPlayer objects linked to ItemsSource, there are ComboBoxes inside of grid that are linked to a list of inner object, and binding works correctly: when I select one of the item then its value is pushed to data model and appropriately updated in other places, where it is used. The only problem: initial selections are not displayed in my ComboBoxes. I don't know why..? Instance of the ViewModel is assigned to view DataContext.     I registered my domain at NameCheap, and have it hosted now at AWS Route 53. However, I'm at a loss for how now to set up sending transactional email. I hear Amazon SES is a good solution, but that requires me to verify my e-mail. I don't have email set up (no e-mail addresses at my domain nor a email client to receive the email verification). As an added wrinkle, I have my sitename.com bucket redirecting to www.sitename.com, and I'm hosting my site on Route 53 using www.sitename.com. However, does this screw things up if I need to switch my MX records since perhaps the 'www' throws things off (would it point to mail.www.sitename.com)?

  • Is there any "modern" text editor with command-line/minibuffer?

    A command line in a text editor is a wonderful feature. It allows the user to explore the editor's functionality and learn it's shortcuts in a textual way. It's much faster than using the mouse, and it is much easier to memorise "shortcuts" this way. Emacs and VI provide this, though, emacs and vi are not "modern". By "modern", I mean one that is original built to cope with the modern de-facto standards of selecting, copying, pasting, cutting, undoing, redoing and auto-completing. Cream/vi or Emacs/CUA are not valid options, since there are loads of things built over them that conflict with the mentioned stuff. It would be nice if there was an editor that would cope with the modern de-facto standards out-off-the-box, but still provide a command-line/minibuffer to perform/explore the commands and learn its shortcuts. Is there such a thing? I do not intend to use the "modern" term as derrogatory. I love both Emacs and VI, but I hate their keyboard-shortcut historical baggage. When I reffer to de-facto standards, I am not talking about Windows vs Whatever. Kate, gedit, Eclipse, Intelij or Textmate also follow the norm I am talking about and are not Windows editors. Please do not advertise Vim and Emacs, that's not answering the question. I am asking for alternatives. Why don't I like emacs and vi: Emacs: Despite CUA mode, emacs has loads of modes that conflict with this (e.g. slime, ruby-mode, etc...) It would be nice to have something that would work out-off-the-box. VI: I do not like that it is Visual/Insert-based. I do not know how to browse the text-editor's commands. I do not like that it is so much tought for the terminal. I believe that it has the same problem that I mentioned for emacs. This question is starting to look like requirement analysis.. As de-facto standards I mean: Ctrol-XCV for cut-copy-paste Ctrol-A for select-all Contrl-Z for Undo Ctrol-Y for Redo Control-F for Searching Contrl-Space for auto-complete Shift-arrow for selection Control-arrow for word-navigation Alt-Arrow for moving

  • Original sender is not correctly identified when spam is forwarded

    I have a forwarding rule with Postfix that forwards all messages to my main email address. When a spam message is sent to one of my emails, it is forwarded but the sender is shown as being the forwarding domain, not the spammer's domain. Real example: mywebsite.com is hosted on Linode. [email protected] sends an email to [email protected] the mail is forwarded to [email protected] my email hosting (anotherwebsite.com) sees it's spam and sends a message to [email protected] and Linode reports a TOS violation. I have modified my postfix settings so I now use RBL, but if a message goes through, it may happen again. How can I prevent this to happen again? Is there some settings to change on Postfix so the original sender is correctly identified? Thanks Stephan

    My domain name hosted on Route 53 DNS. Amazon has a guide to do 301 redirection for www. To naked domain by point www. version to a S3 static website with 301 setted up. My question is, how can I have *.domain.com all have 301 redirec to naked domain name. I guess either: Some way to get all wildcard subdomains end up into one S3 bucket, how? Or: Use CloudFront on the www. version S3 site and put wildcard subdomains on the CloudFront, but how? Or: There's some hidden settings just lies on Router 53, then where? Or: use EC2, better not suggest me this, too costing for this task. Please advice.

  • WPF TreeView: How to style selected items with rounded corners like in Explorer

    The selected item in a WPF TreeView has a dark blue background with "sharp" corners. That looks a bit dated today: I would like to change the background to look like in Explorer of Windows 7 (with/without focus): What I tried so far does not remove the original dark blue background but paints a rounded border on top of it so that you see the dark blue color at the edges and at the left side - ugly. Interestingly, when my version does not have the focus, it looks pretty OK: I would like to refrain from redefining the control template as shown here or here. I want to set the minimum required properties to make the selected item look like in Explorer. Alternative: I would also be happy to have the focused selected item look like mine does now when it does not have the focus. When losing the focus, the color should change from blue to grey.   • Custom Monitor Resolution not recognized by Java

    My weird monitor's native resolution isn't recognized by Windows, so I have to set a custom resolution for it. The problem is that java doesn't recognize it since it's not on Win7's "approved" list, so full-screen mode gets "stuck". Netbeans comes out of full-screen fine, so there has to be a way around this. After doing some Googling, I realize I need to install something called Plugins However, tones of plugins which had similar features has confused me, as I found http://www.cloudgarden.com/jigloo/index.html http://www.eclipse.org/vep/WebContent/main.php http://code.google.com/p/visualswing4eclipse/ This makes me even more confuse? Which plugin I should use to develop a Swing based application? Most of them seems not up-to-dated. Or, is there any complete bundle I can download, where 1 click, will install all the necessary Swing development tools for me?   • Plesk on Windows Server 2008 memory usage

    I have a server running IIS and Plesk. There is a problem every day now in which the memory usage of PleskControlPanel.exe and w3wp.exe slowly increases. And at some point all of the sites hosted on the server go down. Restarting Plesk through its panel will reset its memory usage for a while, and restarting IIS will make it last even longer, but there is still the constant memory climbing problem. I cannot see anything by looking through the event viewer. Has anyone ever seen anything like this with Plesk on Windows? Thanks for any help.
