  • jquery + prepend text not working

    - by Tiago Teixeira
    Hello, I have this following code: $(".preview").find("#panel").each(function(i, val) { var x = "" + $(val).html(); $(x).find(".dmPageHeadline").prepend(" 1 - "); console.log($(x).html()); html += $(x).html(); }); This code iterates through all accordion panels, concatenates its content and add " 1 - " to the header ( class "dmPageHeadline" ). Probably it's a simple detail, but i cannot figure it out... this line $(x).find(".dmPageHeadline").prepend(" 1 - "); doesn't preprend the desired text. Anyone can point me out what is wrong here? Thank you very much and happy new year ! Teixeira

  • jQuery && Google Chrome

    - by Happy
    This script works perfectly in all the browsers, except Google Chrome. $(document).ready(function(){ $(".banners-anim img").each(function(){ var hover_width = $(this).width(); var hover_height = $(this).height(); var unhover_width = (hover_width - 30); $(this).width(unhover_width); var unhover_height = $(this).height(); $(this).closest("li").height(unhover_height); var offset = "-" + ((hover_height - unhover_height)/2) + "px"; $(this).closest("span").css({'position':'absolute', 'left':'0', 'top':'25px', 'width':'100%'}); $(this).hover(function(){ $(this).animate({width: hover_width, marginTop: offset}, "fast") },function(){ $(this).animate({width: unhover_width, marginTop: 0}, "fast") }); }); }); Chrome doesn't recognize changed image attributes. When width of the img changes, height also changes. Even not in Chrome.. $(this).width(unhover_width); var unhover_height = $(this).height(); unhover_height gives 0. Full code of this script (html included) - unhover_height Please help to fix this. Thanks.

  • Using jquery to change checkbox status

    - by Jeff
    Hi everyone! I have a list of items that have checkboxes associated with them, and the items are beneath a list header, which also has a checkbox(for db purposes only) which is actually hidden from view. I need to make it so that if any of the checkboxes beneath the header is checked, then the header checkbox is checked as well. BUT I also need to make it so that if all of the checkboxes are unchecked, then the header one is unchecked...how hard is this going to be? This is how I have it setup now: if($('.childCheckBox').is(":checked")){ $('#parentBox').attr('checked', true); } Now I am thinking that if I were to do something where I add an else if clause: else if($('.proBox2').is(not)(":checked"){ alert("uncheck parent"); } But I don't know the correct syntax for is-not, or isn't, or even if there is anything that will do that. Are there any thoughts out there? I need the box to check if one is selected and uncheck if none are selected. Thanks!!

  • jQuery - get form elements by container id

    - by ungarida
    Which is the easiest way to get all form elements which are contained by a wrapper element. <form name="myForm"> <input name="elementA" /> <div id="wrapper"> <input name="elementB" /> <textarea name="elementC" /> </div> </form> In the above HTML I would elementB and elementC but not elementA. I do not want to list all form element types (select,textarea,input,option...). I would prefer to use myForm.elements. Any ideas?

  • jQuery: issues with mouseover event if the element has children

    - by Patrick
    hi, I have the following element: <div id="#block-block-1"> <p>KAREN LANCEL:<br> lancel(at)xs4all.nl<br> phone 0031 (0)624873424</p> <p>HERMEN MAAT:<br> maat(at)xs4all.nl<br> phone 0031 (0)628536885</p> </div> which is supposed to disappear when the mouse is moved out of it (I will ignore now to talk about the fading in event). This is the code to make it fading out: $('#block-block-1').mouseout(function() { $(this).css("display","none"); }); The issue here is that the 'mouseout' event is triggered when the mouse is over the children elements inside my div. And the parent disappears even if the mouse is still inside it.

  • jQuery .die isnt killing an attached event?

    - by adam
    Hi I've just started experimenting with .live and .die and having some great results but one thing isn't working. I've been tinkering with firebugs console to try out my written code live to see if i can figure out the reason why .die isn't killing off an attached event. First if i do this //attach ajax submission $('a[href$=edit]').live("click", function(event) { $.get($(this).attr("href"), null, null); return false; }); Then as expected when I click on a link the ajax fires off and my server side code injects a form for inline editing. But sometimes I want to disable this behaviour and also make the link unclickable so I do the following //unbind ajax form creation when we click on a link, then disable its semantic behaviour $('a[href$=edit]').die("click").click( function(){ return false; } ); which works but if then try to remove this and restore that ajax goodness with the code below it doesn't work, Instead the link remains unclickable. I cant figure out why? Can anyone help? //remove any previous events from the links $('a[href$=edit]').die(); //attach ajax submission $('a[href$=edit]').live("click", function(event) { $.get($(this).attr("href"), null, null); return false; });

  • jQuery automatic scroll / slideshow

    - by tony noriega
    Could i modify this existing code to automatically scroll through the list items to display the content? Sorry, the: ul li a {} links. Maybe using "interval" method? $(document).ready(function(){ $('ul.tabNav a').click(function() { var curChildIndex = $(this).parent().prevAll().length + 1; $(this).parent().parent().children('.current').removeClass('current'); $(this).parent().addClass('current'); $(this).parent().parent().prev('.tabContainer').children('.current').fadeOut('fast',function() { $(this).parent().children('div:nth-child('+curChildIndex+')').fadeIn('fast',function() { $(this).addClass('current'); }); $(this).removeClass('current'); }); return false; }); });

  • jQuery: add border on hovered element but NOT parents

    - by John Isaacks
    I have this code: var originalBorder = container.css("border"); container.hover(function(event) { event.stopPropagation(); $(this).css("border", "1px solid "+options.color); },function(){ $(this).css("border", originalBorder); }); Which I am using to add a border to the currently hovered element. However for example if a span is inside a div they are both getting borders. I only want to target the span. I thought that adding event.stopPropagation() would do the trick (this is what I would do in Flex, which is what I am more used to) but I guess this is a live event which I dont even understand what that means. So basically how can target the youngest element without triggering the parents? Thanks!!

  • Javascript/Jquery - Reset text box view area after tab

    - by JK
    I don't know what this is called so its hard to google for it. If you have a plain html input type=text with a small width eg 20 and then type more characters than can be displayed, it shows the last characters you type. And the first ones are scrolled out of view: This is my long text // this is the whole string my long string // this is what is actually visible in the input box How do I make it so that when you hit tab, the view area resets so that the start of the string is visible and the end is hidden? my long string // this is what is visible in the input box when typing This is my // this is what is I want to be visible in the input box after you hit tab What do you call this, and how do you do it?

    - by Damien Joe
    Hi I have some controls on an asp.net modal which I show manually via code behind. Now I am trying to attach a selector on one of the controls inside pageLoad(), problem being is that the modal container is initially set to visible=false. I tried checking for length but it still throws exception if ($('#<%= myControl.ClientId %>').length > 0) { $('#<%= myControl.ClientID %>').click(function() { // Do work }); } Compiler Error Message: CS0103: The name 'myControl' does not exist in the current context

  • jQuery Syntax Question, pretty easy I think..

    - by Fuego DeBassi
    Hi all, question: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $(".module .caption").hide(); $(".module").hover(function() { $(this).find(".caption").slideDown(); },function() { $(this).find(".caption").slideUp(); }); }); </script> This snippet works great for my purposes, the only caveat is that I need the .module hover function to simultaneously add a class of "under" to all other ".caption"'s that are not $this, and then remove them when the hover ends. So basically I don't want the "module" that is hovered to get the class, I want it to do exactly what I am showing here...sliding .caption up and down on end hover, I just want all other ".caption"s to get the under class when any ".module" is hovered. Just hitting a dead end with what I have been trying, want to do it in the same function. Any ideas?

  • Adding an additional click event to every element (JavaScript / jQuery)

    - by Gausie
    I'm developing a touchscreen application that, aside from everything else, records the amount of times the screen is used so that the user can be reminded to clean the screen after a predefined number of clicks. I've got the click functions written nicely, all I need now is make sure the function is called on a click. I imagine $('*').click(function() { //do something }); would accomplish my goal, but is that the best way? Also, would that overwrite other click functions assigned to the elements?

  • Loading scripts using jQuery

    - by Nimbuz
    $.ajax({ url: "plugin.js", dataType: 'script', cache: true, success: function() { alert('loaded'); }}); 1) I can't get the script to load, probably due to incorrect path, but how do I determine the correct path? The above code is in init.js, plugin.js is also in the same folder. 2) Can I load multiple plugins at once with the same request? eg. plugin.js, anotherplugin.js? Thanks for your help

  • How to use Split with jQuery?

    - by Matt
    I need to break apart a string that always looks like this: something -- something_else. I need to put "something_else" in another input field. Currently, this string example is being added to an HTML table row on the fly like this: tRow.append($('<td>').text($('[id$=txtEntry2]').val())); I figure "split" is the way to go but there is very little documentation that I can find yet.

  • applying a var to an if statement jquery

    - by Dirty Bird Design
    Need to apply a var to a statement if its conditions are met, this syntax isn't throwing errors but its not working. <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ var action_is_post = false; //stuff here $(this).ready(function () { if ($("#stepDesc0").is(".current")) { action_is_post = true; } }); //stuff here </script> should I use something other than .ready? Do I even need the $(this).ready(function ()... part? I need it to apply the var when #stepDesc0 has the class current.

  • Disabling checkboxes based on selection of another checkbox in jquery

    - by Prady
    Hi, I want to disable a set of checkbox based on selection of one textbox and enable the disabled ones if the checkbox is unchecked. In the code below. If someone checks the checkbox for project cost under change this parameter then checkbox for project cost under Generate simulated value for this param should be disabled and all the checkboxes under change this parameter should be disabled except for checked one. Similarly this should be done each parameter like Project cost,avg hours,Project completion date, hourly rate etc. One way i could think of was of on the click function disable each checkbox by the id. Is there a better way of doing it? <table> <tr> <td></td> <td></td> <td>Change this parameter</td> <td>Generate simulated value for this param</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Project cost</td> <td><input type ="text" id ="pc"/></td> <td><input class="change" type="checkbox" name="chkBox" id="chkBox"></input></td> <td><input class="sim" type="checkbox" name="chkBox1" id="chkBox1"></input></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Avg hours</td> <td><input type ="text" id ="avghrs"/></td> <td><input class="change" type="checkbox" name="chkBoxa" id="chkBoxa"></input></td> <td><input class="sim" type="checkbox" name="chkBox1a" id="chkBox1a"></input></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Project completion date</td> <td><input type ="text" id ="cd"/></td> <td><input class="change" type="checkbox" name="chkBoxb" id="chkBoxb"></input></td> <td><input class="sim" type="checkbox" name="chkBox1b" id="chkBox1b"></input></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Hourly rate</td> <td><input type ="text" id ="hr"/></td> <td><input class="change" type="checkbox" name="chkBoxc" id="chkBoxc"></input></td> <td><input class="sim" type="checkbox" name="chkBox1c" id="chkBox1c"></input></td> </tr> </table> Thanks Prady

  • Dynamic change of class of <TR> with Jquery

    - by Coronier
    Hi all, This is my first post, and first please forgive me for my poor english. I have a problem I really can't fix: I have a <table> of questions, the first question is visible (class:visible), the others are hidden (class:hidden) $(document).ready(function(){ $('.hidden').hide(); When people click on the first question, I want the second question to appear (and the first question to turn to grey, using a 'done' class). $('.visible:not(.done)').click(function(){ $(this).addClass('done'); $('.hidden:first').toggle(500).removeClass('hidden').addClass('visible'); }) The first question is now done (class:done) and the 2nd question should be the only one to react to a click(), and so on... But it doesn't work: the other <tr> appear only when I click on the 1st <tr>. Can someone give me a hand on this problem ? Thank you.

  • jQuery adding a function to a link question

    - by wali
    Hello all, I have a dynamically created table which in the last <td> there is a hidden <div> which is shown when the user hovers over a link in the <td>. That all works fine but there are several links in the div that I want to fire a function based on the id of the link concat'd with an string captured from a <td> from the parent row. I can capture the the variables I need from the id and <td> but something is wrong with the click function I have created. I monitored the function in FireBug and the function appears to be firing on all of the links instead of the one that is clicked. Here is my working code: function fixLink() { $('a.batchMatchLink').click( function() { var r = $(this).parent().parent().parent().parent().parent(); var x = $(this).attr("id"); var a = $(r).find('td:nth-child(6)').text(); var st = x + "." + a; fireLink(st); } ); } function fireLink(st) { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "AjaxWcf.svc/MatchBatch", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", data: st, dataType: "json", success: function(msg) { alert("Entry has been updated"); }, error: AjaxFailed }); Why are all of the links firing? Thanks!!!
