    I have a file at lib directory in my rails project. like this a (directory) a1 a2 a.rb when I in a.rb require a1. require 'a/a1' it will warn me /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `gem_original_require': no such file to load -- a/a1 (MissingSourceFile) but use dirname(FILE), it work. require File.dirname(__FILE__) + '/a/a1 why?

    Hello, I know this may be a recurring topic, but I have read a lot of articles and I still have doubts. Also, I would like to hear more recent opinions about this. The main requirements of my application server are: flexible configuration, support for a extremely high number of concurrent users. It will be a system for the mobile communications industry, so it must have high availability as well. I am going to develop a J2EE application and Open Source Applications Servers are my only option. I have use GlassFish for a very small project and I really liked it. There are html and css templates, templates for Wordpress, all sorts of different cms templates, e-ecommerce templates, etc. Many of these are pretty cheap and some are even free, so where do web designers fit into this picture? I’ve had many clients and potential customers ask why they should use my services instead of just buying a cheap template. Are web designers being replaced?

    When a library is released under the GPL v2, can a company use it internally for free? If they develop software based on it, do they have to release it under the GPL, even if they don't distribute it? Can they make money by using (not distributing) internally developed software that links to the GPL'ed library, without any compensation for the author? I am looking for a software license that only allows non-commercial uses (copy, modify, link to); the resulting derived programs must also be free for non-commercial uses. Is there any software license that does this for non-commercial uses, and prevents any commercial use (including using the software in order to make money)? It looks like the Creative Commons licenses are flexible enough to do something close to that, but I've read against using them for software. What do you think?

    I have to run an image processing algorithm on numerous images in a directory. An image is saved as name_typeX.tif, so there are X different type of images for a given name. The image processing algorithm takes an input image and outputs an image result. I need to save this result as name_typeX_number.tif, where 'number' is also an output from the algorithm for a given image. Now.. How do I tell MATLAB to open a specific 'typeX' file? Also note that there are other non-tif files in the same directory. How to save the result as name_typeX_number.tif? The results have to be saved in the same directory where the input images are present. How do I tell MATLAB NOT to treat the results that have been saved as an input images? I have to run this as background code on a server... so no user inputs allowed Thanks

  • Is there a way to redirect ONLY stderr to stdout (not combine the two) so it can be piped to other programs

    I'm working in a Windows CMD.EXE environment and would like to change the output of stdout to match that of stderr so that I can pipe error messages to other programs without the intermediary of a file. I'm aware of the 2>&1 notation, but that combines stdout and stderr into a single stream. What I'm thinking of would be something like this: program.exe 2>&1 | find " " But that combines stdout and stderr just like: program.exe | find " " 2>&1 I realize that I could do... program 2>file type file | find " " del file But this does not have the flexibility and power of a program | find " " sort of notation. Doing this requires that program has finished with it's output before that output can be processed.

    Hello! I've written a Java program that downloads audio files for me and I'm using BufferedInputStream. The read() function works fine but is really slow so I've tried using the overloaded version using byte[]. For some reason, the audio becomes lossy and strange after download. I'm not totally sure what I'm doing wrong so any help is appreciated! Here's the simplified, sloppy version of the code.     I have the following code that is being used to successfully upload images: $fileName = $_FILES['file']['name']; $fileSize = $_FILES['file']['size']; $fileType = $_FILES['file']['type']; $fileTmp = $_FILES['file']['tmp_name']; list($origWidth, $origHeight) = getimagesize($fileTmp); The catch is I'm getting an 'Undefined index' on each line. I have print_r($_FILES) just before this code and each array variable exists and I've echo out varibles like $fileName and can see each has a value. Also I have put this before this code block and it makes no difference: $fileName = $fileSize = $fileType = $fileTmp = ''; Any suggestions how I can ensure these variables are defined? thankyou

  • What is wrong with my gtkrc file?

    I have written following gtkrc file from some other theme gtkrc file. This theme is normal theme with buttons using pixmap theme engine. I have also given background image to GtkEntry. Problem is that, When i use this theme my buttons doesn't show text one them and my entry box does not show cursor.
