  • Partials vs for loop — best practices

    - by Mike
In coding up your view templates you can render a partial and pass an array of objects to be rendered once per object. OR you can use a For blank in @blank loop. How do you decide when to do which? It seems that if you use a partial for every iterable object you will end up having to modify tons of separate files to make changes to potentially one view. With the loops you can see everything right there in one file.

I like to use wcf (windows communication foundation) with windows authentication. Do I need Active directory for this purpose? How the server knows about the identity of the client? If someone can found out the pass of the client that is using the wcf services, can he create the same user name on different computer and use the password to access the wcf services ? Regards, Darko Petreski

  • Avaudioplayer problem regarding songs

    - by Arun Sharma
I am using avaudioplayer for playing mp3 songs. The problem is in being able to catch the instance of the player to control it i.e. Stop it, Play it etc. The code by default creates multiple instances of the same player and overlaps the songs. I am being unable to reference the player specifically. Do you have an idea as to how we can do so? Thanks Arun Sharma

  • What is WCF (and pros and cons)?

    - by user279521
I am trying to understand what is WCF, but can't get a visual understanding of how it adds value (reading msdn does'nt help). I have worked with COM in the past, and I know about webservices. Can someone shed some light on what is WCF and its pros and cons (maybe how it relates to COM or replaces COM etc)? Links to reference web sites would also be great. Thanks

  • what does macosx-version-min imply?

    - by Quincy
When I pass compiler flag "-mmacosx-version-min=10.5", what does it mean? I think it implies the result binary is x86, not ppc, but is it 32 bits or 64 bits? I'm compiling on snow leopard, so default output binary is 64 bits. I'm not passing -universal, it's not 32bit-64bit universal binary, I think.

  • Eclipse IDE Learning Curve

    - by Vladimir Georgiev
I am a C# guy with pretty good grasp of Visual Studio IDE usage (using it since VS2003). Right now, I am doing a proof of concept app using Eclipse 3.4.1. Is there any good reference or book which describes the usage of Eclipse IDE, compared to Visual Studio. Is there any Eclipse guide for Visual Studio users :) Thanks, in advance.

  • Is there some way to access Sql server from z/OS mainframe and have the result in IBM 3270 terminal

    - by systempuntoout
I tagged this question "impossible" because after a lot of googling, i have not find any trace\reference to a possible answer. I'm asking if there is some way\dirtytrick (possibly cheap) to access Microsoft Sql Server from z/OS mainframe (COBOL programs) and have the result in 3270 terminal emulation; i know that 3270 is a pretty old system, but in bank CED, is still very popular.

  • Facebook - finding users by name

    - by Gublooo
Hello Guys, I'm very new to facebook and wanted to know if this is even possible to do with facebook API. If a user searches for a name on my website - say "Jamie Smith" - I want to pass this name to facebook and find all users that match that name - so if I can get back their photo and name to display on my site - so users can identify the right person. I'm using PHP so if there's any example or link that you can provide will be really helpful. Thanks

  • How do I silence the following RightAWS messages when running tests

    - by Laurie Young
I'm using the RighAWS gem, and mocking at the http level so that the RightAWS code is being executed as part of my tests. When this happens I get the following output ....New RightAws::S3Interface using per_request-connection mode Opening new HTTP connection to s3.amazonaws.com:80 .New RightAws::S3Interface using per_request-connection mode . Even though all the tests pass, when I do have errors its harder to scan them because of this output. is there a nice way to silence it?

  • What does it mean to "preconcat" a matrix?

    - by Brad Hein
In reviewing: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/graphics/Canvas.html I'm wondering translate(): "preconcat the current matrix with the specified translation" -- what does this mean? I can't find a good definition of "preconcat" anywhere on the internet! The only place I can find it is in the Android Source - I'm starting to wonder if they made it up? :) I'm familiar with "concat" or concatenate, which is to append to, so what is a pre-concat?

  • SmtpClient.Send() complains of incorrect no of overloads when passing in MailMessage object

    - by dotnetdev
Hi, I have this code written in .NET 4.0 using VS2010 Ultimate Beta 2: smtpClient.Send(mailMsg); smtpClient is a reference to SmtpClient (I have the relevant references added), and likewise for mailMsg (is MailMessage) - there are no errors stating anything like check for missing assemblies. However, I keep getting an error saying that I have the incorrect no of overloads, when SmtpClient takes either a MailMessage object or the To address, From address, Subject, etc. Why doesn't this code work? Totally confused. Thanks

  • How to bind DataTable to Chart series?

    - by user175908
    Hello, How to do bind data from DataTable to Chart series? I get null reference exception. I tried binding with square brackets and it did not worked either. So, how to do the binding? Thanks. P.S: I included DataGrid XAML and CS which works just fine. Converting data to List<KeyValuePair<string,int>> works good but it is kinda slow and is unnessesary trash in code. I use WPFToolkit (the latest version). XAML: <Window x:Class="BindingzTest.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Height="606" Width="988" xmlns:charting="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls.DataVisualization.Charting;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.DataVisualization.Toolkit"> <Grid Name="LayoutRoot"> <charting:Chart Title="Letters and Numbers" VerticalAlignment="Top" Height="400"> <charting:Chart.Series> <charting:ColumnSeries Name="myChartSeries" IndependentValueBinding="{Binding Letter}" DependentValueBinding="{Binding Number}" ItemsSource="{Binding}" /> </charting:Chart.Series> </charting:Chart> <DataGrid Name="myDataGrid" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" Margin="0,400,0,50" ItemsSource="{Binding}" AutoGenerateColumns="False"> <DataGrid.Columns> <DataGridTextColumn Header="Letter" Binding="{Binding Letter}"/> <DataGridTextColumn Header="Number" Binding="{Binding Number}"/> </DataGrid.Columns> </DataGrid> <Button Content="Generate" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Name="generateButton" Width="128" Click="GenerateButtonClicked" Height="52" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" /> </Grid> CS: public partial class MainWindow : Window { public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); } DataTable GenerateMyTable() { var myTable = new DataTable("MyTable"); myTable.Columns.Add("Letter"); myTable.Columns.Add("Number"); myTable.Rows.Add("A", 500); myTable.Rows.Add("B", 400); myTable.Rows.Add("C", 500); myTable.Rows.Add("D", 600); myTable.Rows.Add("E", 300); myTable.Rows.Add("F", 200); return myTable; } private void GenerateButtonClicked(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { var myGeneratedTable = GenerateMyTable(); myDataGrid.DataContext = myGeneratedTable; myChartSeries.DataContext = myGeneratedTable; // Calling this throws "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" exception } }
