  • Learning C with ASM-ish adds

    - by VaioIsBorn
I didn't know any better name for a title of the question. For ex: on one of my previous questions one answered ((a)-(b))&0x80000000) 31 - this is kind of a too advanced for me and i can't really get what it means. I am not looking just for an answer of that, but i need someone to tell me some books/sites/whatever where i can learn this cool "advanced" tricks in C - and learn how and where to use them respectively too.

  • What problems have you solved using constraint programming?

    - by knorv
I'd like to know about specific problems you - the SO reader - have solved using constraint programming and what constraint logic language you used. Questions: What problems have you used constraint programming to solve? What constraint logic language did you use? I'm looking for first-hand experiences, so please do not answer unless you have that.

  • expand div with focus-jQuery-doesn't work in IE

    - by Joel
Hi folks. I was kindly helped by fudgey earlier. Unfortunately the solution doesn't work in IE. Here is the original post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2768141/expand-div-with-focus-jquery and here is his demo (also doesn't work in IE): http://pastebin.me/6561cd9a033a5f16940ae12f813e938c Any idea on how to make this work there? Thanks!

  • Zend Framework-Do images, mp3s, scripts, etc, just go in public folder?

    - by Joel
I guess these are all questions that everyone must just know, because I'm not seeing this in the documentation :-D I understand that the public folder is the folder that the world has access to. I know it is the case with the css folder, but in migrating a traditional php website over, will my /images folder, /js folder /mp3s, etc Will those all just also be public folders that will be accessed via the layout or view.phtml pages? Thanks!

  • Weird syntax for extending jQuery

    - by cantabilesoftware
I recently saw this code on another post ( http://stackoverflow.com/questions/499126/jquery-set-cursor-position-in-text-area ) new function($) { $.fn.setCursorPosition = function(pos) { // function body omitted, not relevant to question } } (jQuery); After too long trying to understand what it was doing I finally figured out that it's just creating a new function with a parameter $ and then invoking it with jQuery as the parameter value. So actually, it's just doing this: jQuery.fn.setCursorPosition = function(pos) { // function body omitted, not relevant to question } What's the reason for the original, more confusing version?

  • Destructor - does it get called if the app crashes

    - by Antonio Nakic Alfirevic
Does a destructor get called if the app crashes? If it's an unhandled exception I'm guessing it does, but what about more serious errors, or something like a user killing the application process? And a few more potentially dumb questions: what happens to all the objects in an app when the app exits and all finalizers have been executed - do the objects get garbage collected or are they somehow all "unloaded" with the process or appdomain? is the garbage collector part of each application (runs in the same process) or is it independent?

  • vim adding new function names for project's API

    - by Flavius
Hi How can I add new function names for .c and .h files to be highlighted, similar to this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2464593/custumizing-syntax-highlighting-in-vim but much easier? (as I don't need to color words in different colors, only in the default color for keywords as defined by my theme). I need this to add highlighting for function names in a project written in C which has a clearly defined API. Thanks

  • Exclude certain subfolders and domains in redirects

    - by Alexsander Akers
This is a continuation from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1704845/redirect-only-html-files How can I change my .htaccess to make it exclude certain subfolders or subdomains from the HTML-only redirect? I tried doing using this code to exclude the 'downloads' subfolder and the 'dev' and 'support' subdomains, but it didn't work: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^pandamonia.us$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.pandamonia.us$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !download [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !faq RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !support [OR] RewriteRule /.+\.html$ "http\:\/\/pandamonia\.us\/" [L]

  • Using explicitly numbered repetition instead of question mark, star and plus

    - by polygenelubricants
I've seen regex patterns that use explicitly numbered repetition instead of ?, * and +, i.e.: Explicit Shorthand (something){0,1} (something)? (something){1} (something) (something){0,} (something)* (something){1,} (something)+ The questions are: Are these two forms identical? What if you add possessive/reluctant modifiers? If they are identical, which one is more idiomatic? More readable? Simply "better"?

  • Semantic urls with dots in .net

    - by Jokin
I'm trying to make semantic urls for search pages, but if someone use a search finished in dot, the .net engine return a 404. The request don't even get to the routing engine, so i think its something related to security or something like that. For example, the stackoverflow routes also don't work in these case: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/etc.

  • What are great _specific_ usability guidelines?

    - by Jilles
Usability is extremely important, and yet there are so many products that violate a lot of rules. There are several questions on StackOverflow that are about usability (see: link1, link2, link3), however what I feel is missing still is a comprehensive list of usability "tactics": concrete examples of what (not) to do for a web application. Please don't add references to books. Please list one example per answer so that we can use the voting to actually prioritize the list.

  • PHP edit unique row in table

    - by Robert
I currently have a PHP form that uses AJAX to connect to MySQL and display records matching a user's selection (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2593317/ajax-display-mysql-data-with-value-from-multiple-select-boxes) As well as displaying the data, I also place an 'Edit' button next to each result which displays a form where the data can be edited. My problem is editing unique records since currently I only use the selected values for 'name' and 'age' to find the record. If two (or more) records share the same name and age, I am only able to edit the first result.

  • How to make Google Chrome JavaScript console persistent?

    - by zladuric
Since I'm building a dynamic site, I need to track the changes between pages, ie. Ajax calls, POST, GET stuff and similar stuff. I'm looking for the same functionality like in Firebug (where you can enable "persistent" and the console is not cleared every time you reload a page or submit a form. So, my questions is: is there a way to make Google Chrome JavaScript console persistent? (And if yes, how?)

I use Javascript to click a link in the webbrowser control. But I don't want to hear IE's "click" sound. Is there anyway to do this? P.S. I don't want to change system settings. I've seen this one(http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10456/howto-disable-webbrowser-click-sound-in-your-app-only) but Document.Write is not an option for me.

    - by Stanislav Palatnik
Hello, I'm looking to create a hash with sha256 using openssl and C++. I know there's a similar post about this here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/918676/generate-sha-hash-in-openssl, but I'm looking to specifically create sha256. UPDATE: Seems to be a problem witht he include paths. It can't find any openssl functions even though I included #include "openssl/sha.h" and I included the paths in my build -I/opt/ssl/include/ -L/opt/ssl/lib/ -lcrypto

  • jQuery resize not working at FireFox, Chrome and Safari

    - by naveen
$("#dvMyDIV").bind("resize", function(){ alert("Resized"); }); or $("#dvMyDIV").resize(function(){ alert("Resized"); }); The questions Why is this not working at FireFox, Chrome and Safari? Can this be considered a jQuery bug since the resize is not handled for other browsers? Could the only workaround be calling a SetTimeout function checking the clientHeight and clientWidth? Any workarounds using jQuery?

Other than MongoDB and Memcached, what key-value stores run on Windows? Most of the ones I've seen seem to only run on Linux (Hypertable, Redis, Lightcloud).
