  • Can I use foreach to return only a certain type from a collection?

    If I enter the code below, I get an error. Basically, the foreach will break when it comes across a Control that isn't a label. foreach (Label currControl in this.Controls()) { ... } I have to do something like this. foreach (Control currControl in this.Controls()) { if(typeof(Label).Equals(currControl.GetType())){ ... } } can anyone think of a better way of doing it without me needing to check the type? Can I somehow get foreach to skip the objects that aren't Labels?

  • Access to path denied when saving an image with ASP.NET 4.0 project

    I have an existing application that was written in .NET 3.5. The piece of code in question is using the FileUpload control and its SaveAs method. Its worked perfectly for the past six months, but I've recently upgraded the project to .NET 4.0 and I'm now receiving an "Access to path (...) is denied" every time the method is called. It works fine locally in dev mode but fails on my prod server. I've upgraded the website to run under .NET 4.0 and I've made sure the account (Network Service) it runs under in the app pool has full control. Other than upgrading to .NET 4.0, nothing has changed for the project. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  • Generating Dynamic web pages without server side scripting

    Hi guys, I am trying to control a media device which has lot of multimedia content that it can play using another device(remote control device) like an ipad connected to the LAN. (UPnP) I want the media device to be able to send the content listing to the remote device so that it will be rendered as a webpage on the remote controller. And actions on the webpages needs to be sent to the the device as commands to execute (like play, pause, next etc). The media device is an embedded device, hence can't have any server side scripting, all has to be done on the client side. I want the page rendered to be HTML5. So, is it possible to generate dynamic HTML5 pages using just client side scripting? Thanks a lot. I am an embedded systems developer hence clueless about the web designing stuff.

    Working with Visual Studio 6 (VC++ 6.0) I'm using an ActiveX datepicker control which I fail to show expanded by default (3006216). Alternatively I'm trying to send a keyboard message (F4) to my window to open up the control, but nothing happens when I do so... // try 1: use the standard window handle LRESULT result = ::SendMessage(m_hWnd,VK_F4, 0, 0); // try 2: use just use the SendMessage result = SendMessage(VK_F4); result is always 0 - what can I do to test/verify the message sending?   • url rewriting + Asp.Net Login Form = Death

    Hi, on our site we do url rewriting to generate massive amounts of database generated pages. on every page, there is a Login control for users. like this: Internal aspx page: /DB.aspx?id=123 User visible url: /ABC/123.aspx, /ABC/456.aspx ... (url rewritten) unfortunately, the tag on each page has an action attribute of "DB.aspx?id=123". when the user clicks the button the browser is posting to /ABC/DB.aspx?id=123 which of course does not exist. solutions i tried: 1. change the action attribute by subclassing HtmlForm. this destroys the all other forms on the site. 2. remove the action attribute (so that the browser is always posting to the same url). this works on the rewritten pages but on "/" (the default.aspx in the root dir) i get a message that the verb post is not allowed on "/" (iis 6 and i have no control over mappings) anybody?

  • ASP.Net MVC 2 / EF 4 Reference Issue

    My ASP.Net MVC 2 project references a Domain project where POCO business objects are defined and a Data project where EF 4 POCO persistence is implemented. Things were running well until I had a little fussiness with my version control provider (rollback to previous version left me with merge conflicts). Now, upon launching the MVC 2 project, I get a runtime error: The type 'System.Data.Objects.DataClasses.IEntityWithKey' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Data.Entity, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. However, every project references System.Data.Entity (same version). If I remove the reference to System.Data.Entity from the MVC 2 project, I get the same message as a compile-time error. I'm pretty sure something got messed up when I had the version control issue, but really not sure where to look for this one.

The aim is to move the "confirm cancel" interaction to the control rather than having it in the ViewModel. Functional outline: 1) Have a property IsDirty, needs to support binding 2) Has two "states", controled by IsDirty IsDirty = false - Content is "Close" IsDirty = true - Content is "Cancel" 3) When clicked if it is Dirty show a message box to confirm cancel, before calling the command 4) Both states will call the command Usage would be <i:CancelButton Command="{Binding Path=CloseCommand}" IsDirty="{Binding Path=IsDirty}"/> I am looking for pointers, I think a Templated Control would be the best option, but need some guidance on how to do this

    In a CD collection program, I have each artist's country of origin stored in the main database and want to display a map of the world which: Colour-codes each country depending on the number of CDs by artists in that country Allows clicking on each country to filter a list of CDs to only ones by artists in that country This is a heavily simplified version of what I'm trying to do, but if I can at least get this far the rest should be easy enough to figure out. So far the closest thing I've found to what I'm trying to do is here: http://www.synergetechsolutions.com/blog/analytics-world-map-control Ideally I don't want to be embedding Flash in my program though, and the only other solutions I've found all involve SVG which I haven't managed to get working in practice outside of a web browser control (and I DEFINITELY don't want to be embedding a browser in the forms). Something in pure managed code and either GDI+ or WPF would be preferable. Are there any existing components that would get me started, or can anyone suggest how to approach it from scratch?

  • Aldon and .Net Development

    I'm looking for feedback from .Net developers who have experience with Aldon as a lifecycle management platform. We're seriously considering using Aldon for lifecycle management including source control, automated builds, etc. I know there are a lot of other options out there, but ours is primary an AS/400 shop (with AS/400 programmers outnumbering .Net developers 6 to 1), and Aldon is used already by our iSeries team. The benefit we're looking for is having one lifecycle management suite. Basically, I'm looking for opinions from people who have used Aldon and another set of tools (perhaps TFS, or a combination of SVN, Cruise Control, etc). If you've worked with both, do you have a recommendation on whether this is a good idea, or a bad idea? It's obviously a big choice, so any feedback would be helpful.

  • Remove binding to FrameworkElementFactory

    I am currently creating a datatemplate to display data in a listview control in a specific manner and bound to the data. This works fine. But I need to be able to remove the bindings when the screen is closed and control is being disposed. How can I do this? I am thinking of just passing null as the second parameter of SetBinding and not sure if this will fix the issue. Also I have tried BindingOperation.ClearBindings, but I have a FrameworkElementFactory object and not a DependancyObject.     I'm building a multiple webbrowser inside tabs( 1 predefine webbrowser control per tab) and I want them all to load at the same time or other words must run in thread. Unfortunately I feel a valid fact came from the error message that this is something not possible. Pls help me to check my simple program code below and its error in case i tried releasing 2 webbrowser controls but when I leave it to single web browser control it works fine. Any workaround?   • WPF update binding in a background thread

    I have a control that has its data bound to a standard ObservableCollection, and I have a background task that calls a service to get more data. I want to, then, update my backing data behind my control, while displaying a "please wait" dialog, but when I add the new items to the collection, the UI thread locks up while it re-binds and updates my controls. Can I get around this so that my animations and stuff keep running on my "please wait" dialog? Or at least give the "appearance" to the user that its not locked up?

  • Business Objects Web Intelligence-style reporting in a Winform app. Is this possible?

    I have a WinForm app that displays results in a Gridview control. If a user right mouse clicks on a row, he can then, from a popup menu, select a command to perform on the row much like windows File Explorer. But now I want to be able to give the user the ability to construct a filter so that he can control which rows are displayed in the grid w/o effecting the functionality of the application. I would also like the user to be able to select the columns/fields that he sees in the grid. For the basis of this question, let's assume that the data displayed in grid comes from a single table. business Objects' Web Intelligence and Desktop Intelligence applications give me very flexible and powerful reporting capabilities, but I want to integrate this capability into my WinForm application. Does Business Objects, or maybe Crystal Reports provide this sort of functionality? I can construct my own query builder but I'd rather not reinvent sliced bread.

Now my query is that irrespective of ValidateValue() returning true/false __doPostBack('ApplyBtn','') function is not showing any effect for me. My understanding is that string passed to onclick acts like function body, and return will from first function will return control preventing second function from execution. Is that correct ?     I have a window with tab control and number of pages - tab items. Each tab item has same grid layout - 6 rows and 4 columns. Now, each tab item contains grid with row and column definitions, so almost half of XAML is definition of grids. How can I define this grid in one place and reuse that definition in my application? Template? User control? Besides 6x4, I have only two more grid dimensions that repeat: 8x4 and 6x6.

    I recently asked myself: If a program, like Mozilla Firefox for example, is started - the control must be somehow given to it. But when the program crashes, why doesn't my whole system crash like in early Windows version? How can Windows take back the control from the program, or even not give it to it fully? (Note: This is not my homework; I go to school but in my informatics class are really only guys that would answer with "Can I eat that?" when I ask them about kernels. Same with my teacher.)

Sharing permissions -- set to Everyone Full Control (for now!) I can see the folder in \, but can't go in ( is not accessible.) Error message: "You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access pernmissions.   • Events doesn't fire when using UpdatePanel

    Hi, What I did is, I have made 2 user controls. One control is inside the other. NoW one control has a buttton and a data grid and datalist in it. When pressing button I am filling datagrid while datalist visiblity false. This is working fine. But now when I press some link button in datalist data, it should call item_command event but it is not calling. I have also used a Updatepanel as a wrapper(all controls are inside it). Please suggest what may be the reason for that. Thanks
