  • Closing a window when it's "no longer needed".

    This is kind of a hard question to describe, and I've searched for about an hour now to no avail. Essentially, picture a small 'flyout' window like the Windows 7 Wireless Control or the Volume Slider from the system tray(notification area). When you click on the icon, the application pops up with focus, and if you click off of it, the window destroys itself. I thought it woudl be easily solved by simply having my window destroy it self when it loses focus (I've been listening for WM_KILLFOCUS), but the problem is, if the icon is clicked, my window does not always get focus. Since this isn't the case, if the user clicks my icon, and then clicks away because it was a mistake (on the desktop say), then how can I set my app to close? I've tried messing with SPY++ but checking the volume control / wireless control apps are proving difficult as they disappear when I try to get their window/process handles. Thanks!

  • How to bind to current riacontext user in xaml

I Have a datacontext that has a "getuserbyguid" method, i want to pass in the current logged in user.userid as a parameter, but I don't know how to bind to the current logged in user through xaml. I've tried {Binding Path=User.UserId} but without any luck. I'm using the built in riaservices authentication methods, so the userinfo should be exposed in the riacontext, or am I wrong about this?     After adding "RelayCommand" class (that uses CommandManager class) into my Silverlight App I've got an error: The name 'CommandManager' does not exist in the current context This class is a member of System.Windows.Input namespace that is in PresentationCore.dll assembly. The problem is that I can't add this dll into my app... I am having a strange assumption: this class (CommmandManager) can't be used in the Silverlight. Am I right?     I have a problem with a TextBox in an application... A window has a Grid with two columns. The left column contains a control with a constant width but with a height that adapts. The right column contains a TextBox that takes up all remaining space in the Grid (and thereby in the Window). The Grid is given a minimal width and height and is wrapped within a ScrollViewer. If the user resizes the window to be smaller than the minimal widht/height of the Grid, scrollbars are displayed. This is exactly how I want it to be. However, a problem occurs when the user starts typing text. If the text is to long to fit in one line in the TextBox, I want the text to wrap. Therefore I set TextWrapping="Wrap" on the TextBox. But since the TextBox has an automatic width and is wrapped in a ScrollViewer (its actually the whole Grid that is wrapped), the TextBox just keeps expanding to the right. I do want the TextBox to expand if the window is expanded, but I don't want the TextBox to expand by the text. Rather the text should wrap inside the available TextBox. If the text don't fit within the TextBox height, a scrollbar should be displayed within the TextBox. Is there a way to accomplish this?     I used Mike Swanson's illustrator to xaml converter to convert some of my images to xaml. The convert creates a viewbox that contains the image. These viewboxes I made resource files in my program. The code below shows what I'm trying to do: I have a viewmodel that has an enum variable called PrimaryWinding of type Windings. But I can still seeing some margin in it, and I need to have no margin in it?     Hello My scenarion is this 1- i have a Form which is dynamically generated with some XML configuration information. 2- i am attaching Data Binding for a textbox in Text_Loaded event a well as Validation Rules and i am attaching Validation.AddErrorHandler for showing message boxs 3- Data Source for the binding is a DataTable. 4- I am having record navigation buttons on the form generated in step 1 (Next,Last,First,Previous) 5- If user edits data with invalid values in record no 1 validation fires and it creats a red border 6-user press Next button to navigate to record no 2 but does not update error field in record no 1 i.e. she leaves record no 1 with some error not in my data source but on the form. 7- She came back to record no 1 , here my problem begins , Record no 1 is updated with old values and does not show error which she made. i know that ValidationRules will not allow wrong input to update my data source which is fine but i need to handle point no 7 , there is no direct way to handle this situation , any help is much appriciated

  • How to implement a timer for regular events?

    I would like to implement some timers into my application. My goal is to provide an easy way to execute some function every x seconds/minutes so I thought about implementing a 1 sec, 5 sec and 15 seconds timer. The first thing i would like to update every 1 second is the built in clock (don't know if there is any other solution in c#, used this method in c++) Another use would be e.g. a sync function etc. which shall be executed every xx seconds. My question is if there are any useful tutorials on this topic? It is the first time that I would like to implement such an timer system into one of my applications and I do not know if there are any things I have to keep in mind.     In a for loop like this, for i in `cat *.input`; do echo "$i" done if one of the input file contains entries like *a, it will, and give the filenames ending in 'a'. Is there a simple way of preventing this filename expansion? Because of use of multiple files, globbing (set -o noglob) is not a good option. I should also be able to filter the output of cat to escape special characters, but for i in `cat *.input | sed 's/*/\\*'` ... still causes *a to expand, while for i in `cat *.input | sed 's/*/\\\\*'` ... gives me \*a (including backslash). [ I guess this is a different question though ]

  • How Can I Get a TextPointer from a mouse click in a FlowDocument

    I would like to get the word that a user has clicked on in a FlowDocument. I am currently adding an event handler to every Run in the document and iterating through the TextPointers in the Run that was clicked, calling GetCharacterRect() on each one and checking if the rectangle contains the point. However, when the click occurs near the end of a long Run this takes 10 seconds. Is there any more efficient method?

    We're using Hudson on an SVN repository that hosts a number of projects. One of these projects takes a long time to build, even if no files were changed. Right now Hudson's "Poll SVN" detects that the subversion repository has changed and will try to build the project, even if that change was in a different project. Is there a way to set up "Poll SCM" to only respond to changes in a certain branch?

  • Adding and altering multiple text items to a Canvas -- what approach?

    I am attempting to use a Canvas to create a simple Cad application. I have been able to get lines to draw as I want. For now the only other thing I need is text. The user should be able to edit the text in place. ?Is one of these better to use for this over the others? Rich Text TextBlock TextBox Label A more important question, though, is once I have chosen which class to use for implementation, how do I set and get the text value in code? Since the app is in essence a cad application, text will be added, deleted, and altered often, so I am not attempting to put these in XAML, but code-behind. That is why I am asking about how to do this in code. If the answer is "use X.SetValue()" (or that family of methods), then please tell me what I am supposed to do with the required DependencyProperty reference? TIA. Paul
