"How can I convert an XHTML form into an XForm that uses an XML file as a data store and is usable in a web browser" Thanks to David Dorward for correcting my question formulation.
I need to build a custom designed bar chart that displays some simple data. Below are my requirements. Can anyone suggest the best web technology for my requirements.
high browser compatibility
ability to draw shapes
ability to fill shapes with gradients
ability to have onclick and onmouseover events for the different shapes (bars in the chart).
Thanks guys. I was thinking of using svg but looking for suggestions.
Hello,
I'm developing an iPhone application where SMS native application should open when the user clicks the button.
This is working fine and I am also able to copy the content to clipboard when the user clicks on the button.
But I want to provide a URL in the SMS content which I am copying so that the user click on the URL to open it in the browser.
Can anyone suggest me how to provide clickable URL in SMS content?
My development PC has windows installed. And I've experienced weird php behaviour:
<?php
file_put_contents('c:/q', microtime(1) . "\r\n", FILE_APPEND);
sleep(10);
When I run this script in browser simultaneously in two different tabs I get such results
1294713622.125
1294713632.2188
which obviously is not what I expected, although in CLI everything is fine.
So the question: what can block execution? (session.auto_start is Off)
Hi,
Whenever I try to load the following part in tag on firfox browser, I get the message as "$ is not define". May I know the reason? I'm trying to load the jquery.js file before loading any custom script after CSS part.
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
I need to find out what variables and values are being POSTed to a script that I'm debugging. It's doing something strange to them, and it needs to start a session so I can't ouput them right at the beginning. I'm hoping to find a plug-in for Firefox that will show me what they are directly from the browser. Does anyone know of such a thing?
Is it possible to use mod_negotiation to serve up a webp image if the browser supports it, and a jpg otherwise?
For instance, if I link to an image with the path /images/test, it serves the image found at /images/test.webp if the UA knows about webp, or jpg otherwise?
I've tried poking around, but it seems that the Accept headers in Chrome at least look like Accept:*/*, rather than specifying the image type.
If this isn't the way to do it, has anyone got any other suggestions?
Hi,
Is there anyway in JavaScript which emulate user clicks an anchor?
Mozilla(Firefox ) does not implement that.
https://developer.mozilla.org/en/DOM/element.click
But is there any browser which does?
I know this is a long shot, but I figured I'd ask the question anyway.
I have an HTTPS page and am dynamically creating a form. I want to POST the form to an HTTP page. Is this possible without the browser popping up a warning? When I do this on IE8, I get the following message:
Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?
Essentially, I'm asking about the inverse of question 1554237.
I have a ByteInputStream, created from a Socket in Java. The connection is to a simple web server that uses chunked transfer encoding. The web server does in fact work in normal browser. But in my program, I am attempting to read, I read the first first bytes (some 5kb of data). But each read after that returns 0 bytes read. Isn't it supposed to block until it can read?
I am thinking about setting the
php.ini, my.cnf and httpd.conf default charsets=UTF-8
The website is in swedish lang only.
I have some folders with special chars in them, also some files.
Is there any harm by doing this?
Is it cross-browser safe?
Thanks
Hi,
I'm using php on apache with mysql.
I want to let users enter a url into their browser to see a custom user page for themselves, just like twitter does. For example, they could enter urls like:
www.mysite.com/johndoe
www.mysite.com/janedoe
and see that user's page. How could I do this with php and apache? I don't want to create a folder on disk for every user like above, I'd instead kind of like to catch the url and generate the page on the fly for them,
Thanks
Hello,
I use a fanpage which doesn't require authorization in a normal browser, but if I request my url in a UIWebView I get the Facebook login prompt.
Is this normal behaviour or can I avoid this?
Do any Silverlight APIs exist to facilitate development of a custom browser-based diagramming app? It seems a shame to build something from scratch with shape primitives (such as this example), but I've searched Google and can't find much.
I have inserted a video from youtube into a DIV tag, used the actual "embed" code found on youtube site. and used jquery to show/hide the div.
when activated, the flash video shows perfectly in the div, when clicked it plays as usual
the only problem i have is when someone using a Mac, and clicks on play, the flash video disappears.
this happened on many Mac computers regardles of the browser being in use ( none Firefox neither Safari are working )
although i have tested it on all general browsers on windows and it works fine
I want the control component which can provide access to all file sistem like a folder browser dialog but with supprot of which i can select many folders and file. whether there is already such a component in VS 2008 or made by third parties or should I create it myself?
hi, i am working on a small search-engine app with asp.net 4.0. the indexing process can index each URL founded in each document and this recursively performed for each other. now how i can terminate this process when i want or when user clicked on stop browser button?
Lets assume I have a file on a CDN (Cloud Files from Rackspace) and a static html page with a link to that file. Is there any way I can force download this file (to prevent it from opening in the browser -- for mp3s for example)?
We could make our server read the file and set the corresponding header to:
header("Content-Type: application/force-download")
but we have about 5 million downloads per month so we would rather let the CDN take care of that.
Any ideas?
We are in web era standalone applications are almost gone everyone wants their internet application to run inside browser, programming languages like Ruby, Python and scala are becoming more and more mainstream.
Sometimes I wonder what these programming language offer which make them top choice of IT companies, if I plan to become a freelance web developer is it worth learning C# or Java. I read beginner's book for both of them, but to master any of them require some time investment.
I've seen this and I have to admit I'm pretty impressed:

I'm almost certain that this is an HTML 5 feature (it's supported on Chrome and Firefox 3.5), and was wondering if somebody knew how is the browser feature called.
Bonus points for a tutorial/article on how to do something similar!
I am trying to add a large number of items (100+) to my tree via ForestStoreModel by calling newItem in a loop. This seems to be quite slow and locks up the browser. Is there any way I can do something similar to grid's beginUpdate & endUpdate? I want to basically 'turn off' my tree, add 100 items in a batch, then 'turn on' my tree. Any ideas? Thanks!
I made a css menu with css sprites but the problem is with sprite we don't use inline image we use in background only so if images are disabled in browser then nothing will show . any solution for this ?
For example :
See this menu and turn off images : http://line25.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/css-menu/demo/demo.html
I remember having used such an event, but I can't remember the name.
The specific task I'm trying to accomplish is to stop my slideshow when the browser window isn't in the foreground. I'm fading the different images with jQuery, which uses quite some CPU power.
Is there an event that tells me, when the user switches to another application / page.
My question is this: in many free iPhone apps adds which are basically imageViews are buttons. When pressed, they bring you to the iphone App store to buy whichever app was advertised. Can this be tweaked to open a hyperlink in the iphone's safari browser? and if so, how?
