• How to set that compiler flag?

- by mystify
Shark told me this: This instruction is the start of a loop that is not aligned to a 16-byte address boundary. For optimal performance, you should align the start of a hot loop using a compiler directive. With gcc 3.3 or later, use the -falign-loops=16 compiler flag. for (int i=0; i < 4; i++) { // line with the info //...code } How would I set that flag, and does it really improve performance?

• How can I interrupt a ServerSocket accept() method?

- by lukeo05
Hi, In my main thread I have a while(listening) loop which calls accept() on my ServerSocket object, then starts a new client thread and adds it to a Collection when a new client is accepted. I also have an Admin thread which I want to use to issue commands, like 'exit', which will cause all the client threads to be shut down, shut itself down, and shut down the main thread, by turning listening to false. However, the accept() call in the while(listening) loop blocks, and there doesn't seem to be any way to interrupt it, so the while condition cannot be checked again and the program cannot exit! Is there a better way to do this? Or some way to interrupt the blocking method? Thanks!

• Concatenation with Zero is not occuring properly in code?

- by Vineet
I was trying to reverse a number in pl/sql ,its working fine but when my number contain any 0,output come unexpected .for eg 1234 output 4321 1000 output 1 1203 ouput 3021 10001 output 1 DECLARE r number(9); num number(9):=&p_num; BEGIN WHILE num>=1 LOOP IF mod(num,10)=0 THEN -- extracting last digit of a number . r:=r||0; --if end digit is 0 then concat r with 0 ELSE r:=r||mod(num,10);--if mod is not 0 then it would be last digit. • ruby-gstreamer doesn't send EOS message

• stop and split generated sequence at repeats - clojure

- by fitzsnaggle
I am trying to make a sequence that will only generate values until it finds the following conditions and return the listed results: case head = 0 - return {:origin [all generated except 0] :pattern 0} 1 - return {:origin nil :pattern [all-generated-values] } repeated-value - {:origin [values-before-repeat] :pattern [values-after-repeat] { ; n = int ; x = int ; hist - all generated values ; Keeps the head below x (defn trim-head [head x] (loop [head head] (if (> head x) (recur (- head x)) head))) ; Generates the next head (defn next-head [head x n] (trim-head (* head n) x)) (defn row [x n] (iterate #(next-head % x n) n)) ; Generates a whole row - ; Rows are a max of x - 1. (take (- x 1) (row 11 3)) Examples of cases to stop before reaching end of row: [9 8 4 5 6 7 4] - '4' is repeated so STOP. Return preceding as origin and rest as pattern. {:origin [9 8] :pattern [4 5 6 7]} [4 5 6 1] - found a '1' so STOP, so return everything as pattern {:origin nil :pattern [4 5 6 1]} [3 0] - found a '0' so STOP {:origin [3] :pattern [0]} :else if the sequences reaches a length of x - 1: {:origin [all values generated] :pattern nil} The Problem I have used partition-by with some success to split the groups at the point where a repeated value is found, but would like to do this lazily. Is there some way I can use take-while, or condp, or the :while clause of the for loop to make a condition that partitions when it finds repeats? Some Attempts (take 2 (partition-by #(= 1 %) (row 11 4))) (for [p (partition-by #(stop-match? %) head) (iterate #(next-head % x n) n) :while (or (not= (last p) (or 1 0 n) (nil? (rest p))] {:origin (first p) :pattern (concat (second p) (last p))})) # Updates What I really want to be able to do is find out if a value has repeated and partition the seq without using the index. Is that possible? Something like this - { (defn row [x n] (loop [hist [n] head (gen-next-head (first hist) x n) steps 1] (if (>= (- x 1) steps) (case head 0 {:origin [hist] :pattern [0]} 1 {:origin nil :pattern (conj hist head)} ; Speculative from here on out (let [p (partition-by #(apply distinct? %) (conj hist head))] (if-not (nil? (next p)) ; One partition if no repeats. {:origin (first p) :pattern (concat (second p) (nth 3 p))} (recur (conj hist head) (gen-next-head head x n) (inc steps))))) {:origin hist :pattern nil}))) }

• How to lazy load scripts in YUI that accompany ajax html fragments

- by Chris Beck
I have a web app with Tabs for Messages and Contacts (think gmail). Each Tab has a Y.on('click') event listener that retrieves an HTML fragment via Y.io() and renders the fragment via node.setContent(). However, the Contact Tab also requires contact.js to enable an Edit button in the fragment. How do I defer the cost of loading contact.js until the user clicks on the Contacts tab? How should contact.js add it's listener to the Edit button? The Complete function of my Tab's on('click') event could serialize Get.script('contact.js') after Y.io('fragment'). However, for better performance, I would prefer to download the script in parallel to downloading the HTML fragment. In that case, I would need to defer adding an event listener to the Edit button until the Edit button is available. This seems like a common RIA design pattern. What is the best way to implement this with YUI? How should I get the script? How should I defer sections of the script until elements in the fragment are available in the DOM?

• Performance Optimization for Matrix Rotation

- by Summer_More_More_Tea
Hello everyone: I'm now trapped by a performance optimization lab in the book "Computer System from a Programmer's Perspective" described as following: In a N*N matrix M, where N is multiple of 32, the rotate operation can be represented as: Transpose: interchange elements M(i,j) and M(j,i) Exchange rows: Row i is exchanged with row N-1-i A example for matrix rotation(N is 3 instead of 32 for simplicity): ------- ------- |1|2|3| |3|6|9| ------- ------- |4|5|6| after rotate is |2|5|8| ------- ------- |7|8|9| |1|4|7| ------- ------- A naive implementation is: #define RIDX(i,j,n) ((i)*(n)+(j)) void naive_rotate(int dim, pixel *src, pixel *dst) { int i, j; for (i = 0; i < dim; i++) for (j = 0; j < dim; j++) dst[RIDX(dim-1-j, i, dim)] = src[RIDX(i, j, dim)]; } I come up with an idea by inner-loop-unroll. The result is: Code Version Speed Up original 1x unrolled by 2 1.33x unrolled by 4 1.33x unrolled by 8 1.55x unrolled by 16 1.67x unrolled by 32 1.61x I also get a code snippet from pastebin.com that seems can solve this problem: void rotate(int dim, pixel *src, pixel *dst) { int stride = 32; int count = dim >> 5; src += dim - 1; int a1 = count; do { int a2 = dim; do { int a3 = stride; do { *dst++ = *src; src += dim; } while(--a3); src -= dim * stride + 1; dst += dim - stride; } while(--a2); src += dim * (stride + 1); dst -= dim * dim - stride; } while(--a1); } After carefully read the code, I think main idea of this solution is treat 32 rows as a data zone, and perform the rotating operation respectively. Speed up of this version is 1.85x, overwhelming all the loop-unroll version. Here are the questions: In the inner-loop-unroll version, why does increment slow down if the unrolling factor increase, especially change the unrolling factor from 8 to 16, which does not effect the same when switch from 4 to 8? Does the result have some relationship with depth of the CPU pipeline? If the answer is yes, could the degrade of increment reflect pipeline length? What is the probable reason for the optimization of data-zone version? It seems that there is no too much essential difference from the original naive version. EDIT: My test environment is Intel Centrino Duo processor and the verion of gcc is 4.4 Any advice will be highly appreciated! Kind regards!

• Insert rownumber repeatedly in records in t-sql.

- by jeff
Hi, I want to insert a row number in a records like counting rows in a specific number of range. example output: RowNumber ID Name 1 20 a 2 21 b 3 22 c 1 23 d 2 24 e 3 25 f 1 26 g 2 27 h 3 28 i 1 29 j 2 30 k I rather to try using the rownumber() over (partition by order by column name) but my real records are not containing columns that will count into 1-3 rownumber. I already try to loop each of record to insert a row count 1-3 but this loop affects the performance of the query. The query will use for the RDL report, that is why as much as possible the performance of the query must be good. any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

• Google Maps API v3 - Different markers/labels on different zoom levels

- by krikara
I was wondering if it is possible that Google has a feature to view different markers on different zoom levels. For example, on zoom level 1, I want one marker over China with the label saying "5". And as the user zooms in, lets say on zoom level 4, I want the previous marker and label to disappear. And I want to have 5 new markers/labels, each on a different city in China all saying "1". Thus China will say a number and all the cities in China will say numbers adding up to China's number. The key concept I am trying to figure out here is how to hide markers and labels based on zoom levels. A constraint for me is that I am living in China currently where google is censored, so a lot of online documents are censored for me, including many of google's documentations. Here is my code thus far

TM China
html, body, #map_canvas { margin: 0; And when I copy the source code directly to my computer and replace all the icons with markers, the markers still don't appear. I can't seem to figure how to make markers appear using the marker Manager. http://google-maps-utility-library-v3.googlecode.com/svn/tags/markermanager/1.0/examples/weather_map.html

• Twisted: why is it that passing a deferred callback to a deferred thread makes the thread blocking a

- by surtyaarthoughts
I unsuccessfully tried using txredis (the non blocking twisted api for redis) for a persisting message queue I'm trying to set up with a scrapy project I am working on. I found that although the client was not blocking, it became much slower than it could have been because what should have been one event in the reactor loop was split up into thousands of steps. So instead, I tried making use of redis-py (the regular blocking twisted api) and wrapping the call in a deferred thread. It works great, however I want to perform an inner deferred when I make a call to redis as I would like to set up connection pooling in attempts to speed things up further. Below is my interpretation of some sample code taken from the twisted docs for a deferred thread to illustrate my use case: #!/usr/bin/env python from twisted.internet import reactor, threads from twisted.internet.task import LoopingCall import time def main_loop(): print 'doing stuff in main loop.. do not block me!' def aBlockingRedisCall(): print 'doing lookup... this may take a while' time.sleep(10) return 'results from redis' def result(res): print res def main(): lc = LoopingCall(main_loop) lc.start(2) d = threads.deferToThread(aBlockingRedisCall) d.addCallback(result) reactor.run() if __name__=='__main__': main() And here is my alteration for connection pooling that makes the code in the deferred thread blocking : #!/usr/bin/env python from twisted.internet import reactor, defer from twisted.internet.task import LoopingCall import time def main_loop(): print 'doing stuff in main loop.. do not block me!' def aBlockingRedisCall(x): if x<5: #all connections are busy, try later print '%s is less than 5, get a redis client later' % x x+=1 d = defer.Deferred() d.addCallback(aBlockingRedisCall) reactor.callLater(1.0,d.callback,x) return d else: print 'got a redis client; doing lookup.. this may take a while' time.sleep(10) # this is now blocking.. any ideas? d = defer.Deferred() d.addCallback(gotFinalResult) d.callback(x) return d def gotFinalResult(x): return 'final result is %s' % x def result(res): print res def aBlockingMethod(): print 'going to sleep...' time.sleep(10) print 'woke up' def main(): lc = LoopingCall(main_loop) lc.start(2) d = defer.Deferred() d.addCallback(aBlockingRedisCall) d.addCallback(result) reactor.callInThread(d.callback, 1) reactor.run() if __name__=='__main__': main() So my question is, does anyone know why my alteration causes the deferred thread to be blocking and/or can anyone suggest a better solution?

• Oracle 10g - Best way to escape single quotes

- by satynos
I have to generate some update statements based off a table in our database. I created the following script which is generating the update statements I need. But when I try to run those scripts I am getting errors pertaining to unescaped single quotes in the content and &B, &T characters which have special meaning in oracle. I took care of the &B and &T problem by setting SET DEFINE OFF. Whats the best way to escape single quotes within the content? DECLARE CURSOR C1 IS SELECT * FROM EMPLOYEES; BEGIN FOR I IN C1 LOOP DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('UPDATE EMPLOYEES SET FIRST_NAME= ''' || I.FIRST_NAME|| ''', LAST_NAME = ''' || I.LAST_NAME ''', DOB = ''' || I.DOB|| ''' WHERE EMPLOYEE_ID = ''' || I.EMPLOYEE_ID || ''';'); END LOOP; END; Here if the first_name or last_name contains single quotes then the generated update statements break. Whats the best way to escape those single quotes within the first_name and last_name?

• pySerial writes to Arduino Uno get buffered

- by Bhaktavatsalam Nallanthighal
I have a Python script that writes short messages to the serial port on my Arduino Uno board using pySerial. There is a loop and depending on some conditions, multiple writes can happen within a loop, something like this: while True: #Conditions block 1 if <CONDITION1>: serial.writelines("INIT") elif <CONDITION2>: serial.writelines("NEW") ... #Conditions block 2 if <CONDITION1>: # Fetch something from the Internet serial.writelines("CHECK") elif <CONDITION2>: # Fetch something from the Internet serial.writelines("STOP") ... But, when my Arduino board receives this it receives the first message as INIT, but the second one is being read as INITSTOP or INITCHECK and third one gets concatenated to the previous messages. My arduino program checks for specific message in this way: if(msg.equals("CHECK")) { // Do something } else if(msg.equals("INIT")) { // Do Something else } Can anyone guide me on this? BTW, I don't think the problem is with the Arduino as it works perfectly when I test it with the Serial Monitor available with the IDE. I've tried adding sleeps of upto 10 seconds before every write, but that did not work out.

• embedded SWF isn't shown (SWFLoader)

- by Trantec
I embed a swf as ByteArray and load it at runtime with the SWFLoader. Here is the internal swf that I want to load: <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute"> <mx:Label id="rLabel" text="From InternalSWF"/> </mx:Application> The embeding swf loads it with the following code: <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" applicationComplete="main();"> <mx:Script> import mx.managers.SystemManager; import mx.events.FlexEvent; [Embed(source="../../InternalSWF/bin-release/InternalSWF.swf", mimeType="application/octet-stream")] mimeType="application/octet-stream")] private const internalSWF:Class; public function main(): void { var binary:ByteArray = new internalSWF() as ByteArray; // setup swfloader rSwfLoader.trustContent = true; rSwfLoader.addEventListener( Event.COMPLETE, onSWFLoaded ); rSwfLoader.load(binary); } public function onSWFLoaded( event:Event ): void { } </mx:Script> <mx:Box> <mx:SWFLoader id="rSwfLoader" height="100%" width="100%" scaleContent="true"/> <mx:Text id="rText" text="from EmbedingSWF"/> </mx:Box> The label "from EmbedingSWF" is shown on both, local and on the webserver. But the label with "From InternalSWF" isn't shown on the webserver, just on the local machine. With some tests I found out that the internal swf is loaded correctly, because it's later added applicationComplete-Function is called. Is this a bug in Adobe-Flash-Player or am I missunderstanding something ? Update: Internet Explorer is fine. Firefox and Chrome not...

• Active Record two belongs_to calls to the same model

- by ethyreal
In linking a sports event to two teams, at first this seemed to make since: events - id:integer - integer:home_team_id - integer:away_team_id teams - integer:id - string:name However I am troubled by how I would link that up in the active record model: class Event belongs_to :home_team, :class_name => 'Team', :foreign_key => "home_team_id" belongs_to :away_team, :class_name => 'Team', :foreign_key => "away_team_id" end Is that the best solution? In an answer to a similar question I was pointed to single table inheritance, and then later found polymorphic associations. Neither of which seemed to fit this association. Perhaps I am looking at this wrong, but I see no need to subclass a team into home and away teams since the distinction is only in where the game is played. I thought also about a has_many through association but that seems two much as I will only ever need two teams, but those two teams don't belong to any one event. event_teams - integer:event_id - integer:team_id - boolean:is_home Is there a cleaner more semantic way for making these associations in active record? Thanks

• Prepending items in serialscroll

- by Zack
Hi, I am using serialscroll plugin for jquery by Ariel Flesler. I am trying to make the vertical scroller to have continues loop without reverting back to first item (which is default functionality). To have continues loop of items i tried to append the items which is working fine and able to achieve when i click on "NEXT". However problem seems to be with "Previous" link where i am trying to prepend the items at the top, it is pending the items however changing the visible items. I understand that prepending the items is causing the index of items to change which is normal. So what i am looking for it to keep showing the visible items even when prepending. Please see this URL where i have put the problem i am facing : http://www.resourceskit.com/test/ Please suggest. Thanks

• Mouse move panning

- by Rudy
Hi all, I'm trying to scroll a series of thumbnails horizontally based on the mouseX position. I can get it to scroll but it's very choppy and for some reason it's not reading my start and end numbers so it will stop scrolling. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks. var thumbBounds:Object = new Object(); thumbBounds = thumbContainer.getBounds(this); thumbContainer.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, setScrolling); private function setScrolling(me:MouseEvent):void { thumbContainer.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, setScrolling); stage.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, scrollThumbs); } private function scrollThumbs(e:Event):void { if(mouseX <= thumbBounds.x || mouseX thumbBounds.width || mouseX < thumbBounds.y || mouseX thumbBounds.height) { thumbContainer.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, setScrolling); stage.removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, scrollThumbs); } if(thumbContainer.x = 0) { thumbContainer.x = 0; } if(thumbContainer.x <= -842) { thumbContainer.x = -842; } var xdist:Number = new Number(); xdist = mouseX - 382; thumbContainer.x += Math.round(-xdist / 10); }

• Problems with "global" exception handlers for unhandled exceptions in multithreaded WPF

- by JustABill
I have a program that, among other things, needs to be able to refresh the contents of a directory when the user tells it to. The actual task doesn't really matter, but this is the simplest way of causing this problem to occur that I know of. If I tell it to open a directory that doesn't exist, I get the "unhandled exception" dialog in VS with a stack trace of, from outer to inner: [External code] Textbox PreviewKeyUp event [External code] ClassA's path property being set ClassA's internal path update function being called A call to the INotifyPropertyChanged event [External code] A call to the getter for ClassB's list of children A call to ClassB's internal directory list function And then it fails inside this internal function. I have the following in my App.xaml.cs: private void Application_Startup(object sender, StartupEventArgs e) { AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException += new UnhandledExceptionEventHandler(CurrentDomain_UnhandledException); Application.Current.Dispatcher.UnhandledException += new System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherUnhandledExceptionEventHandler(Dispatcher_UnhandledException); } But neither of their exception handlers are being called. If I run this program from outside VS, I don't get notified of an exception at all, it just breaks because of the invalid input. And yes, the Application_Startup event is being called. How can I properly "trap" this exception so I can provide a friendly error message and kill the program?

• two arrays defining 2d coordinates, as array indices, in matlab/octave

- by Jason
Hi, I have a 2D array, call it 'A'. I have two other 2D arrays, call them 'ix' and 'iy'. I would like to create an output array whose elements are the elements of A at the index pairs provided by x_idx and y_idx. I can do this with a loop as follows: for i=1:nx for j=1:ny output(i,j) = A(ix(i,j),iy(i,j)); end end How can I do this without the loop? If I do output = A(ix,iy), I get the value of A over the whole range of (ix)X(iy). Thank you, Jason

• Document Similarity: Comparing two documents efficiently

- by seanieb
I have a loop that calculates the similarity between two documents. It collects all the tokens in a document and their scores, and places them in dictionary. It then compares the dictionaries This is what I have so far, it works, but is super slow: # Doc A cursor1.execute("SELECT token, tfidf_norm FROM index WHERE doc_id = %s", (docid[i][0])) doca = cursor1.fetchall() #convert tuple to a dictionary doca_dic = dict((row[0], row[1]) for row in doca) #Doc B cursor2.execute("SELECT token, tfidf_norm FROM index WHERE doc_id = %s", (docid[j][0])) docb = cursor2.fetchall() #convert tuple to a dictionary docb_dic = dict((row[0], row[1]) for row in docb) # loop through each token in doca and see if one matches in docb for x in doca_dic: if docb_dic.has_key(x): #calculate the similarity by summing the products of the tf-idf_norm similarity += doca_dic[x] * docb_dic[x] print "similarity" print similarity I'm pretty new to Python, hence this mess. I need to speed it up, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

• SoundPool repeating issue for Samsung Galaxy S3

- by Alaa Eldin
I'm trying to play a background sound for my application, I use SoundPool class, my problem is that, sound plays well only when I set the loop parameter with zero value, but it doesn't work for any other value. My code for initialization is: soundpool = new SoundPool(4, AudioManager.STREAM_MUSIC, 0); soundsMap = new HashMap<Integer, Integer>(); soundsMap.put(1, soundpool.load(this, R.raw.soundfile_1, 1)); soundsMap.put(2, soundpool.load(this, R.raw.soundfile_2, 1)); my code for playing is soundpool.play(1, 0.9f, 0.9f, 1, -1, 1f); as I mentioned sound works when I put (0) instead of (-1) for the loop value, anyone has any idea why (-1) or any value other than (0) doesn't work (there is no output sound) ?

• Java swing hold buttons

- by Simon Charette
Hi, I'm trying to create a subclass of JButton or AbstractButton that would call specified .actionPerformed as long as the mouse is held down on the button. So far I was thinking of extending JButton, adding a mouse listener on creation (inside constructor) and calling actionPerformed while the mouse is down. So far i came up with that but I was wondwering if I was on the right track and if so, how to correctly implement the "held down" logic. package components; import java.awt.event.ActionEvent; import java.awt.event.MouseEvent; import java.awt.event.MouseListener; import javax.swing.Action; import javax.swing.Icon; import javax.swing.JButton; public class HoldButton extends JButton { private class HeldDownMouseListener implements MouseListener { private boolean mouseIsHeldDown; private HoldButton button; private long millis; public HeldDownMouseListener(HoldButton button, long millis) { this.button = button; this.millis = millis; } @Override public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent arg0) { } @Override public void mouseEntered(MouseEvent arg0) { } @Override public void mouseExited(MouseEvent arg0) { } @Override public void mousePressed(MouseEvent arg0) { mouseIsHeldDown = true; // This should be run in a sub thread? // while (mouseIsHeldDown) { // button.fireActionPerformed(new ActionEvent(button, ActionEvent.ACTION_PERFORMED, "heldDown")); // try { // Thread.sleep(millis); // } catch (InterruptedException e) { // e.printStackTrace(); // continue; // } // } } @Override public void mouseReleased(MouseEvent arg0) { mouseIsHeldDown = false; } } public HoldButton() { addHeldDownMouseListener(); } public HoldButton(Icon icon) { super(icon); addHeldDownMouseListener(); } public HoldButton(String text) { super(text); addHeldDownMouseListener(); } public HoldButton(Action a) { super(a); addHeldDownMouseListener(); } private void addHeldDownMouseListener() { addMouseListener(new HeldDownMouseListener(this, 300)); } } Thanks a lot for your time.

• Customize jQuery.aptags plugin - mouseclick submit from .ac_results list

- by atmorell
Hello, I am using jquery.autocomplete.js and jquery.apitags to select a few elements from a div (.ac_results) This works great, and I can select multiple elements etc. However the jquery-aptags plugin does only fire when enter is pressed. This might confuse some users if they use the mouse to click instead of the arrows/enter on the keyboard. I think this is the code inside jquery.aptags that submits the tag. // // Hook to the keypress event. // $(this).bind('keypress', { __c: __c }, function (e) { var c = ''; var i = 0; var v = $(this).val(); if (e.keyCode == 13) { e.stopPropagation(); e.preventDefault(); __createSpans(this, v, e.data.__c, true); } }); I am wondering if it is possible to call the method directly from a new event. $('.ac_results > ul > li').livequery(function() { $(this).bind('click', function() { $('#address_city'). //how do I fire the "enter" event from here? }); }); Any thoughts?

• Make a steady automata in javascript

- by RobertWHurst
I'm working on a javascript game and I've got an automata system controlling game time and sprite animation as well as giving a hand to the path finding system for timing and such. My problem is on slow browsers the javascript loop I'm using for counting the time is not very accurate. It tends to jump around a lot. I there a way to force the loop to run consistantly at 30 fps? The automata can drop frames if it needs to catch up so if the solution requires droping frames thats ok.

• Delphi App has "No Debug Info" when Debugging

- by James L.
We have built an application that uses packages and components. When we debug the application, the "Event Log" in the IDE often shows the our BPLs are being loaded without debug information ("No Debug Info"). This doesn't make sense because all our packages and EXEs are built with debug. _(each project) | Options | Compiling_ [ x ] Assertions [ x ] Debug information [ x ] Local symbols Symbol reference info = "Reference info" [ ] Use debug .dcus [ x ] Use imported data references _(each project) | Options | Linking_ [ x ] Debug information Map file = Detailed We have 4 projects, all built with runtime pacakges: Core.bpl Components.bpl Plugin.bpl (uses both #1 & #2) MainApp.exe (uses #1) Problems Observed 1) Many times when we debug, the Components.bpl is loaded with debug info, but all values in the "Local Variables" window are blank. If you hover your mouse over a variable in the code, there is no popup, and Evaluate window also shows nothing (the "Result" pane is always blank). 2) Sometimes the Event Log shows "No Debug Info" for various BPLs. For instance, if we activate the Plugin.bpl project and set it's Run | Parameter's Host Application to be the MainApp.exe, and then press F9, all modules seems to load with "Has Debug Info" except for the Plugin.bpl module. When it loads, the Event Log shows "No Debug Info". However, if we close the app and immediately press F9, it will run it again without recompiling anything and this time Plugin.bpl is loaded with debug ("Has Debug Info"). Questions 1) What would cause the "Local Variables" window to not display the values? 2) Why are BPLs sometimes loaded without debug info when the BPL was complied with debug and all the debug files (dcu, map, etc.) are available?
