  • Find value of selected item in Drop down menu.

    - by Ozaki
I have a drop down menu in an ASPX page along the lines of: <form> <select name="cars"> <option value="volvo">Volvo</option> <option value="saab">Saab</option> <option value="fiat" selected="selected">Fiat</option> <option value="audi">Audi</option> </select> </form> That is dynamically generated from another controller (value and label). After the user selects one of the options I need to find out what the selected value/label (will be the same) is so I can hit an update button and retrieve the data on that option. What would be the easiest way to find out the value of the user "selected" option?

  • How to update only certain items in a list when using MVC?

    - by Eugen
I'm building a GUI that includes a list with quite a lot of items. I allow the user to add/delete/edit those items. Up until now my update method called in the controller implied an entire JList reset (with its obvious performance issues). Now that there are hundreds of items available, updating the entire list is not fezable any longer. Does anyone know of a tutorial or can share an example (I haven't found any to suit my needs so far) in which the JList is updated something like JList.update(startIndex, endIndex);? Thanks for taking the time to answer.

  • Ruby on Rails - Send JavaScript to view

    - by Eef
Hey, I am creating a website in Ruby on Rails. I have a controller action that renders a view like so: def show time_left = Time.now.to_i - 3.hours.to_i @character = current_user.characters.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| format.html # show.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @character } end end This is fine as it renders the show.html.erb as I like. I would like however to somehow pass time_left to the view as a Javascript variable as this value is use by a countdown JQuery plugin. I could put a javascript block on the page in the HTML and print a instance variable out like so: <script type="javascript"> $('#countdown').countdown('<%= @time_left =>')</script> But I would like to keep all my JS in a external file and off the page could anyone give some advice on how to implement this? Cheers Eef

  • Jquery .Ajax error when trying to POST data in ASP.NET MVC

    - by GB
I am unable to access an action in my controller using .ajax. The code works on my development machine but as soon as I place it on the server it gives the error 401 Unauthorized. Here is a snippet of the code in the .aspx file... var encoded = $.toJSON(courseItem); $.ajax({ url: '<%= Url.Action("ViewCourseByID", "Home") %>/', type: "POST", dataType: 'json', data: encoded, //contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", success: function(result) { Update: The only time this doesn't work is when I pass json data to the Ajax call, it works fine with HTML data.

  • MVC 2 Beta DefaultControllerFactory with Areas

    - by stoto
Why default factory WON'T return full name of the controllers (with namespaces)? I'm using Service Locator and autofac. using System.Web.Mvc; using Microsoft.Practices.ServiceLocation; namespace Application.Core.MVC { public override IController CreateController(System.Web.Routing.RequestContext requestContext, string **controllerName**) { return ServiceLocator.Current.GetInstance<IController>(controllerName); } } I had two home controllers (one under area Blog) http://localhost/Home http://localhost/Blog/Home controllerName return only "Home" without full qualified name for both in above code. This creates a problem when I try to regiser controllers' names for dependency injection. Here is how I register controllers right now according to this situation. Even this brings up the pages without exception. But When I access http://localhost/Home, both controllers invoked regardlessly. foreach (var tp in currentAssemblyControllersTypes) builder.Register(tp).FactoryScoped().Named(tp.Name.Replace("Controller", "")); Anyone can help? Thanks.

  • Better way to kill a Form after the FormClosing event is overridden to hide rather than close?

    - by Paul Sasik
I have a simple Windows Form that hosts property controls at runtime. To keep the window and its contents alive rather than killing it by handling the FormClosing event, cancel the event and simply hide the form. That's fine but at close of the application I need to actually close the window. I implemented the below but it feels kludgey. Is there a simpler, more clever way to handle this situation? (The form's controller calls KillForm explicitly after it receives a closing event from the main window.) Friend Class HostForm Private _hideInsteadOfClosing As Boolean = True Private Sub HostForm_FormClosing(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As FormClosingEventArgs) _ Handles Me.FormClosing If _hideInsteadOfClosing Then Me.Hide() e.Cancel = True End If End Sub Public Sub KillForm() _hideInsteadOfClosing = False Me.Close() End Sub End Class

  • Avoid Spring ApllicationContext instanciation

    - by Ceddoc
I use Spring 3 to make a simple configuration. I have an XML file called PropertyBeans.xml like that : <bean id="propertyBean" class="com.myapp.PropertyBean"> <property name="rootDirLogPath" value="C:\Users\dede" /> </bean> I have the bean which match this XML and then I want to use this bean with the value injected. Actually I have : ApplicationContext context = new ClassPathXmlApplicationContext("AppPropertyBeans.xml"); PropertyBean obj = (PropertyBean) context.getBean("propertyBean"); String rootDirLogPath = obj.getRootDirLogPath(); This works great but I want to know if there's a way to avoid the instantiation of ApplicationContext at each time I want to use a bean. I've heard about BeanFactory is that a good idea? Which are the others solutions? In other words: Am I supposed to called this Application context instanciation in every Controller in spring MVC?

  • Rails 3 respond_to: default format?

    - by bdorry
I am converting a Rails 2 application to Rails 3. I currently have a controller set up like the following: class Api::RegionsController < ApplicationController respond_to :xml, :json end with and an action that looks like the following: def index @regions = Region.all respond_with @regions end The implementation is pretty straightforward, api/regions, api/regions.xml and api/regions.json all respond as you would expect. The problem is that I want api/regions by default to respond via XML. I have consumers that expect an XML response and I would hate to have them change all their URLs to include .xml unless absolutely necessary. In Rails 2 you would accomplish that by doing this: respond_to do |format| format.xml { render :xml => @region.to_xml } format.json { render :json => @region.to_json } end But in Rails 3 I cannot find a way to default it to an XML response. Any ideas?

  • PHP - Concatenating objects and casting to string - bad idea?

    - by franko75
Is it bad practice to concatenate objects when used in this context: $this->template->head .= new View('custom_javascript') This is the way i normally add extra css/js stuff to specific pages. I use an MVC structure where my basic html template has a $head variable which I set in my main Website_controller. I have used this approach for a while as it means I can just add bits and pieces of css/js stuff from whichever page/controller needs it. But having come across a problem in PHP 5.1.6 where the above code results in "Object ID #24", the result of toString() not being called i think, I am rethinking whether i should just fix this to work in PHP 5.1.6 or if i should rethink this approach in general. Any pointers appreciated!

  • is this a secure approach in ActiveRecords in Rails?

    - by Adnan
Hello, I am using the following for my customers to unsubscribe from my mailing list; def index @user = User.find_by_salt(params[:subscribe_code]) if @user.nil? flash[:notice] = "the link is not valid...." render :action => 'index' else Notification.delete_all(:user_id => @user.id) flash[:notice] = "you have been unsubscribed....." redirect_to :controller => 'home' end end my link looks like; http://site.com/unsubscribe/32hj5h2j33j3h333 so the above compares the random string to a field in my user table and accordingly deletes data from the notification table. My question; is this approach secure? is there a better/more efficient way for doing this? All suggestions are welcome.

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
Hi, I'm trying to add a JS fly to basket plugin to the site I'm working on, but the plugin needs unique productID numbers, is there a way to iterate this in Smarty when not in a foreach loop? Something like: {$smarty.foreach.foo.iteration} Here's the code I need to itrate: <span id="slidingProd57404045"> <a href="{link controller=order action=addToCart id=$product.ID returnPath=true}" rel="nofollow" class="addToCart" title="Bestill" onclick="addToBasket(57404045); return false;" id="fly_to_basket">&nbsp;</a> </span> The 57404045 needs to be iterated. • How to get cell text based on indexPath?

    - by Sheehan Alam
I have a UITabBarController with more than 5 UITabBarItems so the moreNavigationController is available. In my UITabBarController Delegate I do the following: - (void)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController { //do some stuff //... UITableView *moreView = (UITableView *)self.tabBarController.moreNavigationController.topViewController.view; moreView.delegate = self; } I want to implement a UITableViewDelegate so I can capture the row that was selected, set a custom view property and then push the view controller: - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tblView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { //how can I get the text of the cell here? } I need to get the text of a cell when the user taps on a row. How can I accomplish this?

  • Zend Framework: The form filter I am using is not filtering!

    - by Andrew
    So I have a form that is using the Zend_Filter_Null filter. When I call it directly, it works: $makeZeroNull = new Zend_Filter_Null(); $null = $makeZeroNull->filter('0'); //$null === null However, when I try to add it to an element in my form, it doesn't filter the value when I call getValue(). class My_Form extends Zend_Form { public function init() { $makeZeroNull = new Zend_Filter_Null(); $this->addElement('text', 'State_ID', array('filters' => array($makeZeroNull))); } } //in controller if ($form->isValid($_POST)) { $zero = $form->State_ID->getValue(); //getValue() should return null, but it is returning 0 } What is going on? What am I doing wrong?

  • Is there any framework for Windows Forms, DB driven application development/prototyping?

    - by dolzenko
I'm writing simple database driven application, 80% of functionality is CRUD operations on about 15 tables. Coming from web development background I figured I can cover almost all of these CRUD cases with Rails scaffolding or say Django admins. So I started to look around for Rails/Django-like framework but for Windows Forms applications (ofcourse I understand that "rich client" application development significantly differs from a web development and I'm not expecting anything really similar). I was surprised that except for a variety of ORMs (let's call it Model-layer) it seems like I'm left with little choice when it comes to View-Controller layer. Maybe I'm missing something? PS. I evaluated Visual Studio DataSet Designer, but it seems to work only for the most simple cases, and requires additional code for any slightly nontrivial task. (added) so far I've found: TrueView for .NET (thanks to Vijay Patel) NConstruct

  • BuildUrlFromExpression inside of HTML - getting 404 error from link

    - by ctote
I'm trying to build a link that will direct the user to an MVC page when they click it. Currently I have: HTMLTable.AppendLine("<td class=\"team\"> " + tournament.TournamentRoundMatches[col][effective_match_id].competitorId1 + "<a href=\"<% =Html.BuildUrlFromExpression<CompetitionController>(c => c.Details(83)) %>\">" + " update" + "</a>" + "</td>"); But this just results in a 404 error, with the following link generated: localhost:52313/Tournament/Details/%3C%%20=Html.BuildUrlFromExpression%3CCompetitionController%3E(c%20=%3E%20c.Details(83))%20%%3E My controller method looks like this: [Authorize] public ActionResult Details(int id) { var competition = Competition.getCompetitionById(id); return View(competition); } Does anyone see what I might be doing wrong?

  • how to set a tableview delegate

    - by dubbeat
Hi, I'm trying to use a tableview without using a nib and without using a UITableViewController. I have added a UITableView instance to a UIViewController Like So mytable = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(22, 207, 270, 233)]; [mytable setDelegate:self]; [self.view mytable]; Also I have added the following table view methods to my UIViewController (cut for brevities sake) - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath - (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { I am getting a warning saying that my UIViewController does not implement UITableView delegate protocol. Whats the correct way to tell the table view where its delegate methods are? (This is my first attempt at trying to use a UITableView without selecting the UITableTableview controller from the new file options)

  • Magento - blank lines being added to wsdl file

    - by dan.codes
I am trying to call the API but I keep getting a soap error that can't load the file. I found that the reason is there are about 3 blank lines at the top of the XML file that is returned. I found this by doing wget url. This use to work just fine, when I debug through the API controller the response or xml looks fine all the way through, I don't see any spaces at all. I have no idea what might be causing this. I don't think there is anything we modified that would do this.

  • How can I make my tableview enter editing mode?

    - by Jake
Hi, for some reason I can't get my tableview to enter editing mode. It's a little harder than it might seem because I'm using some open source code to make a calendar (iCal esque) with a tableview under it, and it's not quite as straightforward as just using a regular tableview. Basically, I have two classes. One (let's say Class A) is a UIViewController and the other (Class B) is that viewController's datasource and tableview delegate. In Class B, I've implemented -(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath; which works fine, but if I put an edit nav bar item in Class A (the view controller), nothing happens. Am I forgetting certain protocols, or certain special methods that I need to write? Thanks for any help, and apologies if I'm missing something, I'm just learning to work with other people's code.

  • Tooltips problem, making this javascript work with my smarty foreach loop, help pelase!

    I am using an example of tooltips from http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex5/stickytooltip.htm on www.euroworker.no/order I have this code here to work with, but it just doesn't seem to work correctly, I've tried everything I can think of (not a lot of things) Here's the code. {foreach from=$cart.cartItems item="item" name="cart"} <div class="{zebra loop="cart"}"> <div id="sgproductview"> <div id="cart2Varekode"> <p> {if $product.sku} <span class="param">{$item.product.sku}</span> {else} <span>{img src=$item.Product.DefaultImage.paths.1 alt=$item.Product.name_lang|escape}</span> {/if} </p> </div> <div id="cart2Produkt"> <p>{if $item.Product.ID} <a href="{productUrl product=$item.Product}" data-tooltip="sticky{$smarty.foreach.cart.iteration}" target="_blank">{$item.Product.name_lang|truncate:20}</a> {else} <span>{$item.Product.name_lang|truncate:20}</span> </a> {/if} </p> <p> {include file="order/itemVariations.tpl"} {include file="order/block/itemOptions.tpl"} {if $multi} {include file="order/selectItemAddress.tpl" item=$item} {/if} </p> </div> {if $item.Product.DefaultImage.paths.3} <div id="mystickytooltip" class="stickytooltip"> <div style="padding:5px;"> <div id="sticky1" class="atip" style="width:200px;"> <img src="{$item.Product.DefaultImage.paths.3}" alt="{$item.Product.name_lang|escape}"><br> {$item.Product.name_lang} </div> <div id="sticky2" class="atip" style="width:200px;"> <img src={$item.Product.DefaultImage.paths.3} alt="{$item.Product.name_lang|escape}"><br> {$item.formattedPrice} </div> <div id="sticky3" class="atip" style="width:200px;"> <img src="{$item.Product.DefaultImage.paths.3}" alt="{$item.Product.name_lang|escape}"><br> {$item.Product.name_lang}PRODUCT 3 </div> <div id="sticky4" class="atip" style="width:200px;"> <img src="{$item.Product.DefaultImage.paths.3}" alt="{$item.Product.name_lang|escape}"><br> {$item.Product.name_lang} </div> </div> </div> {/if} <div id="cart2Price"> <p class="actualPrice"> {$item.formattedPrice} </p> </div> <div id="salg"></div> <div id="cart2Salg"> <p></p> </div> <div id="antallbox"> <p class="cartQuant"> {textfield name="item_`$item.ID`" class="text"} </p> </div> <div id="cart2Total"> <p> {if $item.count == 1} <span class="basePrice">{$item.formattedBasePrice}</span><span class="actualPrice">{$item.formattedPrice}</span> {else} {$item.formattedDisplaySubTotal} <div class="subTotalCalc"> {$item.count} x <span class="basePrice">{$item.formattedBasePrice}</span><span class="actualPrice">{$item.formattedPrice}</span> </div> {/if} </p> </div> <div id="delete"> {if 'ENABLE_WISHLISTS'|config} <a href="{link controller=order action=moveToWishList id=$item.ID query="return=`$return`"}">{t _move_to_wishlist}</a> {/if} <a id="slett" href="{link controller=order action=delete id=$item.ID query="return=`$return`"}" title="Slett"><!--{t _remove}--></a> </div> </div> </div> {/foreach} Anyone can help? {html_image} doesn't work, by the way and all the extensions are present and correct.

  • No parameterless constructor defined for this object when simply copying site

    - by jaffa
I'm getting the above error. All I have done is copied an existing site and set-up debugging to use a different port using IISExpress in Visual Studio. Any ideas why I would suddenly get this error? Normally I get this error when StructureMap cannot for some reason resolve a dependency to inject into a controller. But this has me stumped. The code-base is the same. All I've done is copied the code into another folder!?!

  • Rails: Ajax-enabled form without a model object

    - by Caffeine Coma
I'm new to Rails and having a hard time figuring out how to create a form that submits over Ajax without having a corresponding model object. My use case is a simple form that collects an email address and sends it an email; there's nothing to be persisted, so no model. In cases where I do have a model, I've had success with form_for(@model, remote: true). I can't seem to find the right helper for the case where there is no model. I tried form_tag(named_path, remote: true) and that works, but does not use Ajax. Pointers to an example with an example with a proper controller, .html.erb and routes.rb would be really appreciated.

  • Access Codeigniter database functions from file

    - by Manny Calavera
Hello. I am using a SWFupload script and I can't make a request from flash with mod_rewrite, I don't know why... I just need to point the Flash request to that file directly. This file runs an upload script that works ok but now I need to save some info to the database and I would like to know what should I write to have access from that file that is not called from the controller and does not extend the model in order to run a mysql query. Thanks.

  • IUNavigationController loading more viewControllers

    - by Goods
Not a Noob as yesterday, but still green. I have a UITabbarcontoller and a IUNavigationController they seem to work fine. I have a UITableviewController to which I loads my NSMutable array. The user clicks a cell and didSelectRowAtIndexPath xib is loaded onto the stack. I have a 'Learn More' button on the current xib. I've tried a few approaches to load a newer xib when the 'Learn More' button is pressed but have failed. Im thinking it has to do with the Navigation Controller? Do I need to import the navigationcontroller to every ViewControllerSubclass I make? Thanks.
