  • Flex unit testing with ANT vs Flash Builder 4

    I have just tried setup unit testing in Flash Builder 4, and it working nicely. A setup of a parallel test source structure and using Flash Builder 4:s new TestCase and new TestSuite I was up and running with some testcases within minutes. But now I want to compile them from a ant flex task, the Flash Builder generates FlexUnitApplication.mxml and FlexUnitCompilerApplication.mxml. Is there a nice way to build the unit tests with ant using these? I cant find any sample where this is done.

  • Unit testing a Grails custom taglib based on built-in Grails taglib

    I've an app based on Grails 1.3.7. And I need to write a unit test for a custom taglib that is based on the built-in taglib, <g:select /> to be specific. I checked out the solution on this previous SO post but the solution stated is not working in my case (some properties are not being prooperly mocked up). The other solution that I found was this. Using this approach, I get most of the properties of FormTagLib mocked up except for the grailsApplication property that select requires. The actual error that I get is Cannot invoke method getArtefact() on null object. How can I properly write the unit test in such a case? Edit Here are my test class and the full stacktrace. Line #45 on the stacktrace is the call to the g.select from my custom taglib. My custom taglib is something like def clientSpecificQueues = {attrs-> def queueList = taskService.getClientSpecificQueues(session.clientName) def queueLabel = "Some String" if (queueList.size() > 0){ out << queueLabel else out << g.select(name:'queueId', from: queueList, optionKey: 'id', optionValue: 'name') }

    I developed many applications with registered user access for my enterprise clients. In many years I have changed my way of doing it, specially because I used many programming languages and database types along time. Some of them not very simple as view, create and/or edit permissions for each module in the application, or light as access or can't access certain module. But now that I am developing a very extensive application with many modules and many kinds of users to access them, I was wondering if there is an standard model for doing it, because I already see that's the simple or the light way won't be enough.

The testing environment would be (XP: IE6,FF3.6), (XP: IE7,Chrome), (XP: IE8,Safari), (MacOsX: Safari, FF3.6, Chrome), (Ubuntu: FF3.6, Chrome) Of course I want it all in one machine, my initial thought was Using a MacOsX as a host machine and use virtual box to install 3 xp and one ubuntu on it.     When using Excel (2003) to provide data for my unit tests it seems to think that when a cell has TRUE / FALSE value that it is null when there has been no preceding cell values e.g. if (TestContext.DataRow["SatisfactionExtremelySatisfied"] != DBNull.Value) model.SatisfactionExtremelySatisfied = (bool)TestContext.DataRow ["SatisfactionExtremelySatisfied"]; Sample Excel Data DataRow SatisfactionExtremelySatisfied 0 1 2 TRUE 3 TRUE When reading the test data using OLEDB the cells with TRUE hold no value but when the preceding cells have the value FALSE entered it correctly gets the values TRUE. Am I missing something?

    Let say I have written a small program that reads file_A and file_B as input data of test_case_A and test_case_B, passes the input to component_X which needs to be test, then verifies result against predefined expectation. That component_X could be in the same process, or different process on another machine. I try to learn more about testing, but confused by various terms. Take above scenario as example, which of them is fixture/mock/harness/stub? Thanks.
