• Tomcat memory usage

  I'm running tomcat on a ubuntu 10.4 VPS with 512MB of RAM (1024 burstable). I'm using it for development, so performance isn't an issue, but memory is. Tomcat is currently using about 250MB without any apps installed (I compared memory usage with tomcat stopped and running), and I also need to run lighttpd and mysql. Is there any way to get that number down? I don't need it to be able to handle a large number of requests at once.

MaximumASP.com and DiscountASP.net currently only offer sandboxing plans. I don't want to get a dedicated server or VPS since my website has low traffic.

  I need to have at least one microphone on Windows to make Skype calls, but i have a VPS with Windows 2003 server with no audio device. I googled a lot and finally i found something called "Virtual Audio Cable", a tool to install virtual audio drivers ( http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.html ). I tried many times but i couldn't get this driver work, so i'm asking if someone know a similar solution, i mean a virtual microphone or a way to make skype working without any microphone.   I'm trying to monitor the number of disk reads and writes on my VPS (Rackspace in this case) running Ubuntu 9.04. I realize there are many tools to do this, but when using dstat 0.7 I tried the following command: dstat -d The output is just two columns of zeroes even when I upload a large file via scp that should be causing a large number of disk writes. Why is this, and how do I get dstat to correctly display the number of disk reads and writes?

  I have a bad Internet connection, it disconnects frequently and on reconnect, I'm assigned a different IP address by the ISP. The problem is that I connect to a remote VPS (Ubuntu), and when Internet connection is disrupted n reconnected, I can no longer do anything on the terminal. I have to restart the terminal and re-initiate the connection. Is there a way I can have persistent connection with server.

I am thinking of creating a product that allows user to host their site on top of my web hosting and want something that can allow me to bulk add domains (and point DNS to my web hosting DNS) with as little manual work as possible.   I've been knocking my head out for a while on this one and have read many tutorials, but I just can't get this to work. Ajaxterm, is a webbased SSH client; once installed apt-get install ajaxterm and then enabling it with /etc/init.d/ajaxterm start I should be able to access the SSH terminal with http://mywebsite:8022/ But doing so only gives me a "Page not found", any suggestions?
