  • Padding List Items?

    I have a list where i basically need a hierarchy of items. Any children of an item would be padded slightly, as to easily distinguish their parent item. How could this be achieved? Note that i could, if needed, make each parent show no children, and then when the parent is clicked, a new list containing all of it's children is loaded. This however requires more clicking to display information than i would prefer. Also, the items themselves will contain graphics and whatnot (to show a drag'n'drop button, etc), so it would be best if it visually appeared as if the item itself had a margin, rather than the contents of the item being padded.     I want to add a Custom field to the ContactsContract content provider. I'm trying to build a Voip application and would like to add a SIP address(name@domain) field to it. What MIME type will I need to associate with it? Also I want to add a group address field which will have a list of group addresses in it (name@domain, name@domain,...). Wich MIME type will I have to associate with this type of field. I also want to add custom fields to the Call History like a session ID and SIP address(name@domain) field. How can I customize the call history? It'll be great if someone can give me an example.

    Let's say we have a [Valuations] table containing several values per date and per fund: -FundId -ValDate -Value1 -Value2... The Primary key is obviously FundId+ValDate. I have also indexed the ValDate field since I often query for values on a specific date. My question is: should I also create a specific index for the FundId, or is MsAccess clever enough to use the Primary key when querying on a specific FundId ?

I open my camera with cameraRecorder = Camera.open(1); //(this is the front facing camera) And get the camera parameters and all supported preview sizes CameraParameters tmpParams = cameraRecorder.getParameters(); List<Camera.Size> tmpList = tmpParams.getSupportedPreviewSizes(); one of the preview sizes on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 running ICS (4.0.4) is 800x600 but when I try to set the Video size in my media Player mediaRecorder.setVideoSize(800,600); I get this error: 12-19 17:27:55.035: E/CameraSource(110): Video dimension (800x600) is unsupported 12-19 17:27:55.035: E/StagefrightRecorder(110): cameraSource do not init 12-19 17:27:55.035: E/StagefrightRecorder(110): setupCameraSource failed.   • Why my images are compressed?

    I'm using layout xml file for the UI. But the images are compressed and the qualities have lost in some level. My code is like this: <ImageView android:layout_width="480px" android:layout_height="717px" android:layout_x="0px" android:layout_y="45px" android:scaleType="fitXY" android:src="@drawable/e4" /> The drawable is actually 480x717. What's the problem here? Is it due to the fitXY?

  • All connections in pool are in use

    We currently have a little situation on our hands - it seems that someone, somewhere forgot to close the connection in code. Result is that the pool of connections is relatively quickly exhausted. As a temporary patch we added Max Pool Size = 500; to our connection string on web service, and recycle pool when all connections are spent, until we figure this out. So far we have done this: SELECT SPId FROM MASTER..SysProcesses WHERE DBId = DB_ID('MyDb') and last_batch < DATEADD(MINUTE, -15, GETDATE()) to get SPID's that aren't used for 15 minutes. We're now trying to get the query that was executed last using that SPID with: DBCC INPUTBUFFER(61) but the queries displayed are various, meaning either something on base level regarding connection manipulation was broken, or our deduction is erroneous... Is there an error in our thinking here? Does the DBCC / sysprocesses give results we're expecting or is there some side-effect catch? (for example, connections in pool influence?) (please, stick to what we could find out using SQL since the guys that did the code are many and not all present right now)

But after running my program on event onclick the alert dialog box opens and allows filling information in it. and then on click of ok button alert dialog if condition is matched than data will be submitted and intent will pass otherwise in toast msg it will show something like enter correct password or loginid etc. but when on second click of button on which I have set alertdialogbox the thread msg will appear and it will close the program so what is the solution for this. The SDK allows changing the width of keys in a row (as in ThickButtons), but ideally I'd like to be able to vary both the height and width of keys within a row (and still have the keys occupy all the available space.) Another way of looking at this is that I want to allow some keys to be in more than one contiguous row. Any ideas would help. Thank you.

But the layout holds parent elements, and when I click on those the click is not recognized. How do I make a full row/view of ViewStub as whole to be clickable and highlightable like a ListView elements? Also what do I have to add to get that orange highlight?

  • Exchange ActiveSync is not working with Android's 'verify certificate' setting, what do I need to do to make them work together?

    All other methods of Activesync and web access to my Exchange server are working fine with no errors or issues, but when we attempt to configure Android phones for the server, it will only work with 'verify certificate' checked off. Ideally, I'd like my users to be able to use the default configuration, which includes the 'Verify Certificate' option. My primary question is: 'What does Verify Certificate do?', as I imagine if I knew that, I might have some idea why it isn't working.

    I would like to ask about the design of table based on it's editability in a Grid View. Let me explain. For example, I have a table named ProductCustomerRel. Method 1 CustomerCode varchar PK ProductCode varchar PK StoreCode varchar PK Quantity int Note text So the combination of the CustomerCode, StoreCode and ProductCode must be unique. The record is displayed on a gridview. The requirement is that you can edit the customer, product and storecode but when the data is saved, the PK constraint must still persist. The problem here is it would be natural for a grid to be able to edit the 3 primary key, you can only achieve the update operation of the grid view by first deleting the row and then inserting the row with the updated data. An alternative to this is to just update the table and add a SeqNo, and just enforce the unique constraint of the 3 columns when inserting and updating in the grid view. Method 2 SeqNo int PK CustomerCode varchar ProductCode varchar StoreCode varchar Quantity int Note text My question is which of the two method is better? or is there another way to do this?

  • Is there a way for a user to disable an AlertDialog completely?

    In the app I'm making, I have an "if" statement where if two strings are saved to a certain string, an AlertDialog pops up. These strings will stay the same for some users, thus having this AlertDialog constantly pop up whenever they launch the activity where the ALertDialog is set to appear. I want to be able to long press anywhere on a the table row to be able to get some options to delete or edit etc. Is this possible? Remember I need to do all this without setting any XML as its dynamically built.   • Elegant solution to retrieve custom date and time?

    I am currently using a date and time picker to retrieve a user-submitted date and time, and then I set a control's text to the date and time selected. I am using the following code: new DatePickerDialog(newlog3.this, d, calDT.get(Calendar.YEAR), calDT.get(Calendar.MONTH), calDT.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH)).show(); new TimePickerDialog(newlog3.this, t, calDT.get(Calendar.HOUR_OF_DAY), calDT.get(Calendar.MINUTE), true).show(); optCustom.setText(fmtDT.format(calDT.getTime())); Now, while the above code block does bring up the date and time widgets and sets the text, the code block is being executed in full before the user can select the date.. ie: It brings up the date box first, then the time box over that, and then updates the text, all without any user interaction. I would like the date widget to wait to execute the time selector until the date selection is done, and i would like the settext to execute only after the time widget is done. How is this possible? Or is there is a more elegant solution that is escaping me?   • Postgresql Output column from another table

    i'm using Postgresql, my question is specifically about querying from a table that's in another table and i'm really having trouble with this one. In fact, i'm absolutely mentally blocked. I'll try to define the relations of the tables as much as I can. I have a table entry which is like this: Each of the entries has a group_id; when they are 'advanced' to the next stage, the old entries are marked is_active = false, and a new assignment is done, so C & D are advanced stages of A & B. I have another table (which acts as a record keeper) , in which the storage_log_id refers to, this is the storage_log table : But then I have another table, to really find out where the entries are actually stored - storage table : To define my problem properly. Each entry has a storage_log_id (but some doesn't have yet), and a storage_log has a storage_id to refer to the actual table and find the storage label. The sql query i'm trying to do should output this one: Where The actual storage label is shown instead of the log id. This is so far what i've done: select e.id, e.group_id, e.name, e.stage, s.label from operational.entry e, operational.storage_log sl, operational.storage s where e.storage_log_id = sl.id and sl.storage_id = s.id But this just returns 3 rows, showing only the ones that have the seed_storage_log_id set; I should be able to see even those without logs, and especially the active ones. adding e.is_active = true to the condition makes the results empty. So, yeah i'm stuck. Need help, Thanks guys!

The problem is that only one TextView seems to be displaying, ie. if everything but summary is deleted, then summary will display. As of right now, only title will display, because i'm assuming it's the first one. I'm most likely doing it wrong, so any help would be appreciated.

    I have some demanding mysql queries that are needed to grap same datasets from several mysql tables. I am thinking of creating a table or view to gather all demanding columns from other tables, so as to increase performance. If I create that table, I may need to do extra insert / update / delete operation each time other tables updated. if I create view, I am worrying if the performance can be greatly improved. Because data from other tables are changing very frequently. Most likely, the view may need to be created first everytime before selecting it. Any ideas? e.g. how to cache? other extra measures I can do?

  • remine focus on the main activity (while switching activities)

    Hi, Ive got two activities in the same application. the first one is with gui(main activity) the second one is a listener which works infinite without gui. Wierd problem occurs: i am running the second activity with a diffrent thread so i could keep on manipulate the gui.. but for some reason, the gui losing it's focus for some reason, only when i press 'home' and come back to it, then i can continune maniuplate the gui. it feels like after i launch the second activity, the gui activity(the main) is losing the focus. how come? in my mainactivity i have: setContentView(R.layout.main); and its setted as the launcher in the manifest. thanks, ray.

I've some 1:1 comparisons for sqlite, Firebird Embedded, Derby and HSQLDB (others I am missing?) but no across the board comparisons... Also, I'd be interested in the overall developer experience for any of these (for a Java app).
