I'm preparing a short talk for a conference in august and I'm looking for open source projects that are using agile methods internally or have tried them in the past.
My goal is to talk about the things that work well and what won't work and promote the agile methods a little bit, because I think certain agile techniques are a good fit, but don't seem to be that common in real development.
So does anyone know projects that have tried agile methods and techniques before? I'd like to contact them for a few questions.
I am trying to do the following in a bit of python code:
class Parent:
class Child(Parent):
pass
And it does not work. Is there any python syntax I can use to achieve the same result?
Thanks.
Situation: I have this log4j logger:
private static final Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(ThisClassName.class);
And am trying to set it programatically through:
Logger.getLogger(ThisClassName.class).setLevel(Level.DEBUG);
Still, DEBUG level prints are swalloed (while INFO prints are printed successfully).
Even this bit has no effect: Logger.getRootLogger().setLevel(Level.DEBUG);
Calling logger.debug("foo") reaches Category.forcedLog() and ConsoleAppender.doAppend(), and then fails (quits) at:
if(!isAsSevereAsThreshold(event.getLevel()))
Any idea why this is happening?
I need to resize images and resample them so they don't end up all jagged (I think that's called aliasing).
I found some code (sorry, lost the link) that does this in pure VB6 code but it's a bit slow (2-5 seconds) and I'm displaying pictures in real time so I need something faster.
I seem to recall seeing some examples of doing this with the GDI+ library. An example in VB6 would be ideal, but I can probably work with a simple example with Windows API calls in another language.
Im using the answer to this question to convert an array of XML to a single XML output:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2554671/output-array-of-xml-to-plain-xml
Im using the simpler solution of the two there (Marked as the answer)
It all works for me, however at the start of the output I get:
string(109960) "
Can anyone shed any light on this? Output here: http://bit.ly/aoA3qY
I am very new to Hibernate. I have MySQL database and mapped pojos. What should I do next? I know little bit LINQ to SQL from .NET, and it generates me List of mapped objects.
So basically, what are my next steps after creating POJOS if I want to have List of them and do CRUD operations upon them and data will be also saved in DB not only in java objects ?
kthx
I'm writing a Direct3D application, using DirectX 9. Although it works on my PC, I need to make it work on a wide range of systems. I need to know what capabilities I can expect to see on other systems. Is there a list of the DirectX capabilities that graphics cards support?
I've found one site, which I'll post as an answer, but it's a bit out of date.
First time I am bit disappointed in StackOverflow cause my http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2571727/c-concurrency-vs-java-concurrency-which-is-neatly-designed-which-is-better question was closed.
My intension was just trying to gather knowledge from programming guru's who worked in both the programming technologies. Rather closing this question, please help me by discussing what is good, bad, and ugly in multi-threading part in both the platforms.
It is also welcome, if someone would like to compare with .Net 4.0 with JDK 6 (or JDK 7)
I am working on rolling a bit of my own version of linux for my real time car application. I plan to base it off of minimal ubuntu (only needsd 32 MB of memory). I am not the most skilled person with linux so not really sure how to assess components when adding them to my system. What I am looking for is a lightweight windows manager to replace gnome and it has to support the gtkmm library. Does anyone know of one?
You see a fair bit (in the Geek community anyway) about OpenID. It seems like a good idea. I'm developing a website that will be targeted at a somewhat less geeky audience (but not quite Mom and Pops either) so I have to wonder if OpenID is going to be "too hard" for some audiences.
What do you think? That aside, are there any other technical or non-technical reasons NOT to use OpenID?
I am running CentOS 5.5 x86_64 with JDK 1.6, Eclipse Galileo, and the 0.9.7 ADT is installed; however, after installation, the Android project type is not available. I have checked in the installed packages list and it is installed. Anybody encounter this problem before? Could it be due to my use of the 64-bit java VM that is installed on my system?
What do the bit operators like AND(&),OR(|),XOR(^) in python do behind the screen? What do they calculate? I cannot understand the results they give when used in a program?
30&45 yields 12. How can we relate these three?
30|45 yields 63. How are these three related?
Please answer this...
Yes, I know, most of you are thinking I'm an idiot, butt (kidding) I'm not. I've been searching everywhere for something on how to fully make a navigation-based iphone app, but all I've found is how to set up table views or navigation controllers. I haven't found anything on how to create a data model (something simple from arrays and dictionaries, SQLite and CoreData are a bit out of my scope) or navigate it. Does anyone know of any tutorials or anything like that? Thanks.
I have a bit of free time at work and was wondering, what are some hard applications to build but which are not big?
Hopefully nothing which requires specialist knowledge but something nonetheless hard and which will boost my coding/problem-solving skills.
Thanks
I'm wondering specifically what experienced programmers thought when they started developing in Python. I'm sure the answer depends on your background, but my own personal answer is the conversion of basically anything in the language to a True/False value in boolean contexts.
Resulting in "oddities" like:
if x:
not meaning the same thing as:
if x == True:
I understand why, but it bugs me, and I certainly had to think about it a bit when I first ran into it.
Is there anything that stops the DateTime AddDays() method that doesn't run within a while loop. I have this simple bit of code;
DateTime last_day = monthCalendar2.SelectionRange.End;
DateTime first_day = new DateTime(year, month, day);
//Insert dates into vector
while (first_day != last_day)
{
dates.Add(first_day);
first_day.AddDays(1);
}
I step through the program and first_day never changes, anyone know why?!
I'm making a small Windows Forms application that contains a lot of grid views. I want all the grid views to resize with the window. I could make a function that detects window resize and then changes the size of each grid view but that feels a bit clunky. Is there not an easier/more intelligent way to do this
I am starting Android development. Which of the many Eclipse downloads do I need from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ ?
I am only ever going to do Android dev with Eclipse ever.
Platform: MAC 64 bit Snowleopard
Hi All,
I'm a bit confused by a few tutorials that I read about the ListView.
I have a ListView control and on the left hand side should be a name, and to the right of that name should be like another column with some more text in it. For example:
ListView:
jason blah blah blah
item2 more blahs
item3 jupiter
item4 uranus
How can this be done? Is there a simple way of doing this?
Thank you
Hi everyone!
I've recently got interested in Linux network programming and read quite a bit (Beej's Guide to Network Programming). But now I'm confused. I would like to write something to have some practice, but I don't know what exactly. Could please recommend me a couple of projects to start with?
Thanks.
I need to get informed when the user changes the font size in it's browser.
I need it to reposition some elements which have to be relative in one dimension to an anchor inside a text.
So far i haven't found anything and i'm a bit worried that it's not possible. In this case it should be possible to emulate it with a hidden div and some text inside and a script polling for changes of it's width. But i hope someone has a more elegant solution.
Maybe it's just too late for me to do this, but I'm trying to replace a character between 2 string with regex in PHP.
Example string:
other | text [tag]text|more text|and more[/tag] end | text
My goal is to replace | with <br/> between [tag] and [/tag].
Tried with this, seems it wasn't that easy though:
/<td>(\|)<td>/gsi
Searched a bit, but couldn't make out an answer with the stuff I found.
Hope you can help, thanks
Hi, We plan to host our website on a linux server. The site is created using java based technologies and will run on multiple instances of tomcat with apache in the front. I want to go in for a 64 bit linux OS so that I can install 64bit jvm. So my options are :
Ubuntu
Fedora
CentOS
which one (and which version) would be the most stable?
