  • jquery CSS doesn't work in webkit

    - by Mauro74
    I'm trying to apply some css to an image tag if the image is portrait, but for some reason .css() doesn't work in webkit. Basically the image tag doesn't get the 'style' property. Here's my code: $(document).ready(function () { $('.listing .item .thumb img').each(function () { var _img = $(this); var _imgWidth = _img.outerWidth(); var _imgHeight = _img.outerHeight(); if (_imgHeight > _imgWidth) { _img.css('top', '-40%'); } }); }); <div class="listing about"> <div class="item"> <a href="#" class="thumb"> <img src="../_uploads/siteassets/images/thumb-carousel-2.jpg" /> <span class="frame"></span> </a> <span class="snippet"> <a href="#" class="title">Name Surname</a> <span class="date">Role in the company</span> <p class="description">Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet...</p> </span> </div> </div> I've tried to use .attr() instead of .css() but nothing. It doesn't work! Any idea why?

  • Keypress event on inserted span (jQuery)

    - by Coder
    Hi, I've been researching for a long time, and haven't found a possible solution. The problem I have is that I'm trying to attach an event handler to an span element just inserted. So basically the problem is, when a user performs a particular action that I set (clicking a button by example) I call this function: function AppendSpan() { $('#mydiv').append('<span id="someid" contenteditable="true">Some TExt</span>'); //Then I want to handle the keypress event on the inserted span $('#someid').keypress(function(event){//Do something here}); } The problem is that the keypress event is never triggered on the inserted span, I tried with the click event and it works fine, but not the keypress or keydown,keyup events. I also tried with $('span').live("keypress",function(event){//Do something}); but didn't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated, I need this to work only in FF, so no support for IE required.

  • JQuery Ajax Get passing parameters

    - by George
    Hi, I am working on my first MVC application and am running into a bit of a problem. I have a data table that when a row is clicked, I want to return the detail from that row. I have a function set up as: function rowClick(item) { $("#detailInfo").data("width.dialog", 800); $.ajax({ type: "GET", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", url: "<%= Url.Action("GetDetails", "WarningRecognition")%>", data: "", dataType: "json", success: function(data) {//do some stuff...and show results} } The problem I am running into is the passing of the "item". I calls the Controller function that looks like this: public JsonResult GetDetails(string sDetail) { Debug.WriteLine(Request.QueryString["sDetail"]); Debug.WriteLine("sDetail: " + sDetail); var myDetailsDao = new WarnRecogDetailsDao(); return new JsonResult { Data = myDetailsDao.SelectDetailedInfo(Convert.ToInt32(sDetail)) }; } But it never shows anything as the the "sDetail". It does hit the function but nothing is passed to it. So, I have read where you pass the parameter via the data but I have tried every combination I can think of and it never shows up. Tried: data: {"item"} data: {sDetail[item]} data: {sDetail[" + item + "]} Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Geo...

  • jQuery 1.4.2 - Ajax & increasing IE 8 Process Handles

    - by mac866
    Hi, I'm requesting every second some data over $.ajax. $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "ServiceEndpointUrl", data: "", success: function(result) { ... Do Work ... } } } } }); This code leads into an continuous growing number of handles in IE 8 (Windows 7 / verified with Task Manager & Process Explorer). Firefox & Chrome does not have this problem. This page is displayed all day long - this leads into thousands of handles & will sometimes crash the complete browser. My workaround is to reload the complete page every hour - but this can't be the solution ;-) Any suggestions how to "close" these Ajax-Handles? thx

  • Help submitting an asp.net form with jquery

    - by batman_man
    I'm trying to post the entire asp.net form to a certain url. I have tried: $.post("http://www.someaddress.com", $("form").serialize()); I have also tried: $.ajax({ type:"POST", url:"http://www.someaddress.com", data: $('form').serialize(), success: function(){ alert('yay'); } }); In both cases the submit is fine but no data is passed along with it. When i test the form.serialize() in firebug console, this shows my form serialized just fine. When i view the submit in fiddler, i can see that the data part is not set. Maybe im not understanding the data part, but every single tutorial shows this as the way to go - serialize the form and set that as data. What must i do to get my serialized form as the data in my request? What am i missing? Also - why does the NET tab in firebug show all these requests as method OPTIONS?

What am I doing wrong? Thanks

  • How to drag and scroll in a div with jQuery

    - by Don Munter
    Hey guys, I've been looking around for some time now, but I can't find a way to combine these elements: I want a 100% width div, with 1 row of elements. I need to scroll through this div, just like: http://jqueryfordesigners.com/demo/scrollable-timelines.html So with a hidden overflow and such. But now I want some sort of smooth ease when I let go of the mouseclick, so it'll be like a sort sweep. So when I drag the screen from left to right, and let go of the mouse, it'll move on for 1 sec and linearly slowing down. Hm, am I making sense? Does anyone know of any scripts or some tips to put me back on track? Don

  • bloated jquery xml requests

    - by Tim Joyce
    Hi, I was wondering if anyone had an alternative to this. $(xml).find("a").each(function(){ $(this).find('b').each(function(){ $(this).find('c').each(function(){ $(this).find('d1').each(function(){ sectionValidation.RegisterTerms.setRegisterTermsArray(this); }); $(this).find('d2').each(function(){ sectionValidation.RegisterTerms.checkValidVariations(this, val); }); }); }); }); It seems really bloated and there has to be a more elegant approach to getting nested xml data. Thank you

  • jQuery adding a row to a table with click() handler for tr

    - by Dave
    I'm having an issue with a control I'm building that contains a table where the body is scrollable. The rows have a click() function handler established like: /** * This function is called when the user clicks the mouse on a row in * our scrolling table. */ $('.innerTable tr').click (function (e) { // // Only react to the click if the mouse was clicked in the DIV or // the TD. // if (event.target.nodeName == 'DIV' || event.target.nodeName == 'TD' ) { // // If the user wasn't holding down the control key, then deselect // any previously selected columns. // if (e.ctrlKey == false) { $('.innerTable tr').removeClass ('selected'); } // // Toggle the selected state of the row that was clicked. // $(this).toggleClass ('selected'); } }); There is a button that adds rows to the table like: $('#innerTable > tbody:last').append('<tr>...some information...</tr>'); While the rows ARE added successfully, for some reason, the static rows work with the click handler, but the newly added rows do not. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks in advance!

    This is my usual way to debug javascript. Include alert(0); to break the flow and find out what is happening. sometimes when i need multiple check points i do alert('the flow is now in function 1'); alert('the flow is now in function 2'); or sometimes just alert('success'); i would like to know if there is any standard way for debugging adopted as i am finding my current method very intrusive. thanks in advance..:)

  • JQuery autocomplete problem

    - by heffaklump
    Im using JQuerys Autocomplete plugin, but it doesn't autocomplete upon entering anything. Any ideas why it doesnt work? The basic example works, but not mine. var ppl = {"ppl":[{"name":"peterpeter", "work":"student"}, {"name":"piotr","work":"student"}]}; var options = { matchContains: true, // So we can search inside string too minChars: 2, // this sets autocomplete to begin from X characters dataType: 'json', parse: function(data) { var parsed = []; data = data.ppl; for (var i = 0; i < data.length; i++) { parsed[parsed.length] = { data: data[i], // the entire JSON entry value: data[i].name, // the default display value result: data[i].name // to populate the input element }; } return parsed; }, // To format the data returned by the autocompleter for display formatItem: function(item) { return item.name; } }; $('#inputplace').autocomplete(ppl, options); Ok. Updated: <input type="text" id="inputplace" /> So, when entering for example "peter" in the input field. No autocomplete suggestions appear. It should give "peterpeter" but nothing happens. And one more thing. Using this example works perfectly. var data = "Core Selectors Attributes Traversing Manipulation CSS Events Effects Ajax Utilities".split(" "); $("#inputplace").autocomplete(data);

  • JQuery use variable by name of divID

    - by Russell Parrott
    Just a quick question, that I cannot fathom out, hope you guys and girls can help. I have a div (with ID) that when clicked opens a new div - great works well, what I really want is to "populate" the new div with predefined text based on the clicked div's ID. example: <div class="infobox" id="help_msg1">Click me</div> I may have say 3 (actually more but...) of these div's This opens: <div id="helpbox">text in here</div> In/on my .js page I have doc ready etc then: var help_msg1 ='text that is a help message'; var help_msg2 ='text that is another help message'; var help_msg3 ='text that is yet another help message'; Then $('.infobox').live('click',function() { $('#helpbox').remove(); $('label').css({'font-weight': '400'}); $(this).next('label').css({'font-weight': '900'}); var offset = $(this).next().next().offset(); var offsetby = $(this).next().next().width(); var leftitby = offset.left+offsetby+10; $('body').append('text in here'); $('#helpbox').css( { 'left': leftitby, 'top': offset.top } ); }); Note I remove each #helpbox before appending the new one and the .next().next() identifies the appropriate text input that lot all works. What I need is how do I put var help_msg1 into the append when id="help_msg1" is clicked or var help_msg2 when id="help_msg2" is clicked etc. I have tried
