• Sessionstate not being saved between pages

  Hi, i am having problems with an asp.net c# site whereby i am setting a session state object to true and then redirecting to another page that needs to check the value of the session state object and it is null. Sometimes it is set correctly and other times is is simply null. When i debug on my local machine it works perfectly every time. Only when i upload to my web server does this temperamental behaviour happen. As it is based around the security of the site it is obviously important that the session data be valid and accurate every time. Is session state data unreliable? AFAIK its set to inproc, cookieless, 30 min timeout, vanilla installation of IIS. Does anyone have any suggestions? Perhaps i need to thread.sleep inbetween the storing of the session data and the reading? NB: the time between the write and the read is about 70ms.. ample time for the data to be written to RAM.....

Table 1 (users): id INT username TEXT favourite_food TEXT food_pref_id INT Table 2 (food_preferences): id INT food_type TEXT The logic is as follows: Let's say I have this in my food preference table: 1, 'VEGETARIAN' and this in the users table: 1, 'John', NULL, 1 2, 'Pete', 'Curry', 1 In which case John defaults to be a vegetarian, but Pete should show up as a person who enjoys curry. Question, is there any way to combine the query into one select statement, so that it would get the default from the preferences table if the favourite_food column is NULL? I can obviously do this in application logic, but would be nice just to offload this to SQL, if possible. DB is SQLite3...

  CREATE TABLE Customer ( customerID int identity (500,20) CONSTRAINT . . dateCreated datetime DEFAULT GetDate() NOT NULL, dateModified datetime DEFAULT GetDate() NOT NULL ); When i insert a record, dateCreated and dateModified gets set to default date/time. When i update/modify the record, dateModified and dateCreated remains as is? What should i do? Obviously, i need to dateCreated value to remain as was inserted the first time and dateModified keeps changing when a change/modification occurs in the record fields. In other words, can you please write a sample quick trigger? I don't know much yet... Any help will be appreciated.

• What's the diffrence btw System property and system environment variable

  Hi all I am not clear about this. When I run a java App or run an Applet in applet viewer,( in the IDE environment), System.getProperty("java.class.path") give me the same as System.getenv("CLASSPATH"), which is the CLASSPATH env variable defined. But when I deploy my applet to webserver and access it from the same computer as a client, I get different result for the two (System.getProperty("java.class.path") only point to jre home and System.getenv("CLASSPATH") return null). And here is some other things that make me wonder: For the applet part, the env var JAVA_HOME, i get the same result when deploying the applet in a browser as well as Applet Viewer. And if I define myself a env variable at system level, and use getenv("envName") the result is null. Is there anyway I can define one and get it in my java program? Thanks a lot Regards K.

  I have the following table: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Accounts1]( [AccountId] [nvarchar](50) NULL, [ExpiryDate] [nvarchar](50) NULL ) I am trying to convert nvarchar to datetime using this query: select convert(datetime, expirydate) from accounts I get this error: Conversion failed when converting datetime from character string. The status bar says "2390 rows". I go to rows 2390, 2391 and 2392. There is nothing wrong with the data there. I even try to convert those particular rows and it works. How can I find out which row(s) is causing the conversion error?

So two problems: 1) t seems to contain a value of the order 6000, and I KNOW the code didn't take 6 seconds to run. 2) How can I convert t to a double, given that it's an unsigned int? Or is there an easier way to print the output the way I wanted to?

Right now I am getting "The system cannot find the file specified" on Assemblies referenced in my so called modules. I cannot really get how to use the AssemblyResolve event... The longer version I have one application, MODULECONTROLLER, that loads separate modules. These "separate modules" are located in well-known subdirectories, like appBinDir\Modules\Module1 appBinDir\Modules\Module2 Each directory contains all the DLLs that exists in the bin-directory of those projects after a build. So the MODULECONTROLLER loads all the DLLs contained in those folders using this code: byte[] bytes = File.ReadAllBytes(dllFileFullPath); Assembly assembly = null; assembly = Assembly.Load(bytes); I am, as you can see, loading the byte[]-array (so I dont lock the DLL-files). Now, in for example MODULE1, I have a static reference called MyGreatXmlProtocol. The MyGreatXmlProtocol.dll then also exists in the directory appBinDir\Modules\Module1 and is loaded using the above code When code in the MODULE1 tries to use this MyGreatXmlProtocol, I get: Could not load file or assembly 'MyGreatXmlProtocol, Version=1.0.3797.26527, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. So, in a post (like this one) they say that To my understanding reflection will load the main assembly and then search the GAC for the referenced assemblies, if it cannot find it there, you can then incorparate an assemblyResolve event: First; is it really needed to use the AssemblyResolve-event to make this work? Shouldnt my different MODULEs themself load their DLLs, as they are statically referenced? Second; if AssemblyResolve is the way to go - how do I use it? • Telerik RadAjaxManager and Mouse Events in Chrome

  Whenever I'm using Telerik's RadAjaxManager in Chrome, the events sent to any mouse events I'm using are passed as null. For instance, the following: <img id="Image1" src="image.gif" onclick="alert(event)" /> <rad:RadAjaxManager ID="RadAjaxManager1" runat="server"> <AjaxSettings> </AjaxSettings> </rad:RadAjaxManager> Alerts null when clicking the image. This does not happen in IE or FF. The version of the RadAjaxManager is 1.8.5.0. I'm guessing the problem does not occur in later versions, but an upgrade is not an option at the moment. I tried Telerik's support forum, but they didn't really provide any answer. What could cause such a problem? And how can it be dealt with?

  I have two assemblies that I'm trying to link together. One is a sort of background process that's built with WinForms and will be designed to run as a Windows Service. I have a second project that will act as a UI for the background process whenever a user launches it. I've never tried attempting something like this with managed code before, so I've started trying to use windows messages to communicate between the two processes. I'm struggling when it comes to passing more than just IntPtrs back and forth, however. • [Java] Send cookie with http request problem

  I'm trying to get a certain cookie in a java client by creating a series of Http requests. It looks like I'm getting a valid cookie from the server but when I'm sending out a request to the fnal url with the seemingly valid cookie I should get some lines of xml in the response but the response is blank because the cookie isw rong or is invalidated because a session has closed or an other problem which I can't figure out. The cookie handed out by the server expires at the end of the session. It seems to me the cookie is valid because when I do the same calls in firefox, a similar cookie with the same name and starting with the 3 first same letters and of the same length is stored in firefox, also expiring at the end of the session. If I then make a request to the final url with only this particular cookie stored in firefox (removed all other cookies), the xml is nicely rendered on the page. Any ideas about what I am doing wrong in this piece of code?
