• Why wouldn't I want to run Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise x64 instead of Windows 7 Ultimate x64?

  I'm currently running Windows 7 RC and I'm ready to pave and reinstall on my laptop. Are there features in Windows 7 I won't have access to if I install Server 2008 R2? Are there applications or drivers that won't work? I'm primarily interested in running a Server OS to support SharePoint development. (Yes, I am aware of the hackaround to install it on Win7.)

• Windows 7 F6 Drivers off a USB Drive

  I'm doing a fresh install of Windows 7 and I have an on board software RAID. I "need" to install the drivers via the infamous F6 process. Technically, it should be possible to do so after the OS has been booted, but long story short, this isn't going to work well for me. Is it possible to install F6 drivers during the installation using a USB, or must that always be done using floppies? What are my alternatives?

  I remember that about two or three years ago, there was an application that ran on OS X (panther for sure) that you could install on a laptop next to your bed and it will analyze your sleeping patterns, noise, movement, etc. All through the cam/mic. • SFTP logging: is there a way?

  I'm wondering if there is a way to log commands received by the server. It can be all SSH commands, as long as it includes information on commands related to file transfer. I'm having issues with an SFTP client and the creator is asking for logs, but I am unable to find any existing logs. I'm looking to log on both or either CentOS or OS X (although I suspect if it's possible, it'd be similar on both).

  I work with Windows 8.1 and today I installed Ubuntu 14.04 alongside it, but now I can't set the boot menu to display both OS. When I boot the system it normally loads Windows 8.1 without opening the boot menu. I created a boot USB with Yumi. When booting with Yumi and selecting "boot from hard disk", Ubuntu turned on. My drives: My laptop is a Fujitsu Lifebook AH532/G52 and the BIOS is a Phoenix v1.10

• LAN connection loses network access randomly

  Hi, Windows 7 is a great OS but there are some problems which should be solved from Microsoft as fast as possible. On my Computer the LAN connection randomly loses its connection. I don't know why but I think this problem depends on my network driver which is only available for Windows XP (where it always worked perfectly). I can not reproduce this issue.   I have set up a mercurial repo to be served using apache+wsgi+hgweb on OS X. It is now completely open to anyone who stumbles upon my server on the correct port number.. How can I set it up so that only people with a username+password pair that I approve can pull and/or push from the repo? I know how to very easily achieve this using ssh, but in this specific case the requirement is that the solution doesn't require defining full fledged user accounts on the machine for each person whom I'd like to give access to the repo.

  For CentOS installation CDs, you can install OS, as well as booting into "rescue" mode so that you can do a chroot mount on the system partition for problem solving, even the system is installed in hardware RAID drives. How can we create a similar thing but on usb flash drive? I tried to do it with unetbootin, but when booting into the USB, eventually the CentOS setup still requires presence of CDs. I've tried placing qtz files in my C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes Plug-ins folder and restarting iTunes, but of course no other visualizers can be selected. Common visualizers that I would like to install include those found here I'm of course aware that some of these are Mac OS only due to library dependencies - I would still like to know if it's possible to install any visualizer other than the default for iTunes in Windows 7

I want to re-image the machine using a generic software image, but would like to keep the user data (including settings etc) that are on there ala Windows Easy Transfer. I can mount the hard disk on another machine - can I use Easy Transfer to transfer the user state of an account on the non-booted OS? Or do I need explore USMT?
