  • JQuery performance issue (Or just bad CODING!)

    - by ferronrsmith
    function getItemDialogContent(planItemType) { var oDialogContent = $('<div/>').append($('#cardDialogHelper').html()).addClass("card"); if (planItemType) { oDialogContent.find('#cardDialogHeader').addClass(planItemType).find('#dialogTitle').html(planItemType); oDialogContent.find('#cardDialogCustomFields').html($('#' + planItemType + 'DialogFields').html()); if (planItemType == 'announcement' || planItemType == 'question') { oDialogContent.find("#dialogPin").remove(); } } return oDialogContent; } I am doing some code cleanup for a web application I am working on. The above method lags in IE and most of our user base use IE. Can someone help me. I figure the find() method is very expensive because of the DOM traversal and I am thinking of optimizing. Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance :D Been doing some profiling on the application and the following line seems to be causing alot of problems. help me please. is there any way I can optimize ? $('').append($('#cardDialogHelper').html()).addClass("card"); This is the ajax call that does the work. Is there a way to do some of this after the call. Please help me. (Added some functions I thought would be helpful in the diagnosis) GetAllPlansTemp = function() { $.getJSON("/SAMPLE/GetAllPlanItems",processData); } processData = function(data) { _throbber = showThrobber(); var sortedPlanItems = $(data.d).sort("Sequence", "asc"); // hideThrobber(_throbber); $(sortedPlanItems).each(createCardSkipTimelime); doCardStacks(); doTimelineFormat(); if (boolViewAblePlans == 'false') { $("p").show(); } hideThrobber(_throbber); } function createCardSkipTimelime() { boolViewAblePlans = 'false'; if (this.__Deleted == 'true' || IsPastPlanItem(this)) { return; } boolViewAblePlans = 'true'; fixer += "\n" + this.TempKey; // fixes what looks like a js threading issue. var value = CreatePlanCard2(this, GetPlanCardStackContainer(this.__type)); UpdatePlanCardNoTimeLine(value, this); } function CreatePlanCard2(carddata, sContainer) { var sCardclass = GetPlanCardClass(carddata.__type); var editdialog = getItemDialogContent(sCardclass); return $('<div/>').attr('id', carddata.TempKey).card({ 'container': $(sContainer), 'cardclass': sCardclass, 'editdialog': editdialog, 'readonly': GetCardMode(carddata) }); }

  • jQuery append css link to iframe head

    - by Micharch54
    I'm trying to append a css file to an iframe that is created on a page from a global script. I can access part of it, but for some reason I can't append to the head. It's not throwing errors either, which is frustrating. <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#outline_text_ifr') .contents() .find('head') .append('<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="/include/outline.css" media="all" />'); }); </script>

  • Adding an additional click event to every element (JavaScript / jQuery)

    - by Gausie
    I'm developing a touchscreen application that, aside from everything else, records the amount of times the screen is used so that the user can be reminded to clean the screen after a predefined number of clicks. I've got the click functions written nicely, all I need now is make sure the function is called on a click. I imagine $('*').click(function() { //do something }); would accomplish my goal, but is that the best way? Also, would that overwrite other click functions assigned to the elements?

  • IE not showing jquery append() images

    - by Johannes Ruuska
    Ok, so i took John Raasch's slideshow script and modyfied it too dynamicly fetch images from folders on the server through ajax. The slideshow work like a charm in FF and Chrome but IE is not showing the images. And since IE's javascript debugging possibilities is close to none I cant figure out what is crashing. Javascript (indenting got messed up when pasting here but you get the code anyway): function slideSwitch() { var $active = $('#box_bildspel IMG.active'); if ( $active.length == 0 ) $active = $('#box_bildspel IMG:last'); var $next = $active.next().length ? $active.next() : $('#box_bildspel IMG:first'); $active.addClass('last-active'); $next.css({opacity: 0.0}) .addClass('active') .animate({opacity: 1.0}, 1000, function() { $active.removeClass('active last-active'); }); } $(document).ready(function(){ $.get('includes/bildspel.php?page='+page, function(r){ var file = r.split('!'); var path = 'pic/bildspel/'+page+'/'; var data = ''; if(file != null && file != ''){ $.each(file, function(key, value){ if(key == 0) { $('#box_bildspel').append('<img src="'+path+value+'" class="active"></img>'); //console.log(path+value); } else { $('#box_bildspel').append('<img src="'+path+value+'"></img>'); //console.log(path+value); } }); } if(file.length > 1){ $(function() { setInterval( "slideSwitch()", 4000 ); }); } }); }); PHP: <?php function getimgs($page) { $path = '../pic/bildspel/'.$page; $files = ''; if ($handle = opendir($path)) { while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) { if ($file !== '.' && $file !== '..') { $files .= $file.'!'; } } closedir($handle); echo substr_replace($files ,"",-1);; } } getimgs($_GET['page']); ?> Tested in IE 7 & 8 Any ideas? I have a deadline on this site for tomorrow (april 23) would appreciate VERY much if someone could figure this on out for me, thanks in advance!

  • Set the mouseover Attribute of a div using JQuery

    - by Abs
    Hello all, I would like to set an attribute for a div. I have done this: $('#row-img_1').onmouseover = function (){ alert('foo'); }; $('#row-img_2').onmouseout = function (){ alert('foo2'); }; However, the above has not worked, it does not alert when mouse is over or when it moves out. I have also tried the $('#row-img_1').attr(); and I could not get this to work either. I am aware that I should be using a more effective event handling system but my divs are dynamically generated. Plus this is a small project. ;) Thanks all for any help.

    - by Nimbuz
    $.ajax({ url: "plugin.js", dataType: 'script', cache: true, success: function() { alert('loaded'); }}); 1) I can't get the script to load, probably due to incorrect path, but how do I determine the correct path? The above code is in init.js, plugin.js is also in the same folder. 2) Can I load multiple plugins at once with the same request? eg. plugin.js, anotherplugin.js? Thanks for your help

  • Retreive value stored in array with jquery index

    - by Dustin
    I am trying to retreive the stored value (div id) of an index stored in var "current" when it's div is clicked, so I can use it in a function to iterate through to the next index later. I want to store this stored value in a var so I can use it in a div show/hide function. my html is quite simple: <div class="gallerypreview" id="1"></div> <div class="gallerypreview" id="2"></div> <div class="gallerypreview" id="3"></div> my javascript is something like this: var images = new Array(); $(document).ready( function(){ $('.gallerypreview').each(function() { images.push($(this).attr("id")); }); $('.gallerypreview').click(function() { var current = $('.gallerypreview').index(this); }); }); how would I go about retrieving the div id from this clicked div? nothing I have tried has worked. I can get the index # fine, but I cannot find the value of the index using any functions that utilize the index # yet.

  • Can Prototype or JQuery return an HTTP status code on an AJAX request

    - by jotto
    url = "http://example.com" new Ajax.Request(url, { onComplete: function(transport) { alert(transport.status); } }); I'd like that to return a status of 200 if the site is working, or 500 if it is not working, etc.. But that code is returning 0 all the time. Ultimately, I want to have a setinterval function that regularly pings a website for uptime status.

  • jQuery function only inside a specific div ID

    - by user412481

I have tried a few things with parent but I cannot seem to figure this out. <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> $(document).ready( function () { $("img").each(function () { var src = $(this).attr("src"); if (src.substring(0, 1) == "/") $(this).attr("src", "http://serverName.com/" + src.substring(1)) }); } ); </script>

  • Add in integer to returned value with jQuery

    - by danferth
    I have a page with a div id="videoFrame" that holds the video tag. The videos have variable heights so I have a function to grab the height value and plug it into the css of the div id="videoFrame like so: var videoHeight = $('video').attr('height'); $('#videoFrame').css('height',videoHeight+'px'); This works great. But here's the part driving me crazy. I have a p tag with disclaimers at the bottom of the div id="videoFrame". So I would like to add an additional 26px to the returned height. I tried: var videoHeight = $('video').attr('height'); var frameHeight = videoHeight + 26; $('#videoFrame').css('height',frameHeight+'px'); But as you would expect it is adding 26 to the end of the returned value. i.e. if returned value is 337 output for var frameHeight is 33726. I can not for the life of me figure out how to do this. Thanks in advance for any help

  • jquery specific show buttons on hover

    - by bob
    I have an application creating a bunch of divs through a loop. Each div has the class "product" so it looks like <div class="product"> !.....stuff here ....! <div class="show_on_hover">...buttons here... </div> </div> so there are about 12 of these same divs per page. I would like to hover over a specific one and show the specific "show_on_hover" div which is initially set to display:none. $('.product').hover(function() { $(.show_on_hover).show(); }, function () { $(.show_on_hover).hide(); } ); That is what I have so far but it will show ALL of the .show_on_hovers on the page so I am wondering how to get only the specific one you have moused over to show. This effect is seen on youtube when you mouseover any of the comments, and some comment tools pop up. Thanks!

  • JQuery addclass to another div (but not parent) if no data is found

    - by Danny
    I have this to add a class to the main table that the report is in if there is no data returned. $('#report-area table td:contains("Sorry, your search did not return any data")').parents('#reportArea').addClass('no-report-data') However, I have another div area "#report-footer" but it's not inside #report-area. I'd like to also add the .no-report-data class to "#report-footer" as well but in this case I don't think the .parents selector will work. Is there another selector I can use to do this?

  • jquery for each function

    - by jonathan p
    I have added a show more or less function to a div - this all works fine however now i need to only allow this functionality if a element is over a certain height in this case. there are numerous classes of the same so i need to do the check on each element. although i am having problems getting it to work see code below : $(document).ready(function() { $(".less").hide(); $(".more").each(function() { var actualHeight = ($(this).parent().parent().find('.appsList').height()); if (actualHeight < 150) { $(".more").hide(); } }); $(".more").click(function() { var paragraphHeight = ($(this).parent().parent().find('.appsList').height()); if (paragraphHeight > 150) { $(this).parent().parent().find('.appsHolderBody').animate({height:(paragraphHeight + 100) }); $(this).hide('slow'); $(this).parent().find('.less').show(); } return false; }); $(".less").click(function() { $(this).parent().parent().find('.appsHolderBody').animate({height:190 }); $(this).hide('slow'); $(this).parent().find('.more').show(); return false; }); }); Any help would be greatly appreciated - please note when i am targeting the parent using .parent.parent i know its not pretty but could'nt get it to run using eq(4) for some reason. so the main problem is with this part of code $(".more").each(function() { var actualHeight = ($(this).parent().parent().find('.appsList').height()); if (actualHeight < 150) { $(".more").hide(); } it hides all of the elements $(".more") instead of the ones that match the condition. html as requested <div class="appsHolder"> <div class="appsHolderBody"> <h5 class="appTitle">General Apps</h5> <ul class="appsList"> <li class="mainAppList">Resource Manager</li> <li><a href="">Launch</a> <a href="">Info</a></li> <li class="mainAppList">Resource Manager</li> <li><a href="">Launch</a> <a href="">Info</a></li> <li class="mainAppList">Yet Another App</li> <li><a href="">Launch</a> <a href="">Info</a></li> <li class="mainAppList">Yet Another App</li> <li><a href="">Launch</a> <a href="">Info</a></li> <li class="mainAppList">Yet Another App</li> <li><a href="">Launch</a> <a href="">Info</a></li> <li class="mainAppList">Yet Another App</li> <li><a href="">Launch</a> <a href="">Info</a></li> <li class="mainAppList">Yet Another App</li> <li><a href="">Launch</a> <a href="">Info</a></li> <li class="mainAppList">Yet Another App</li> <li><a href="">Launch</a> <a href="">Info</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="appsHolderExpander"> <a href="" class="more">More <img src="/wps/PA_applicationsintros/./img/downArrow.png" /></a> <a href="" class="less">Less <img src="/wps/PA_applicationsintros/./img/upArrow.png" /></a> </div> </div> <div class="appsHolderAdvertising"> <div class="appsHolderBody"> <h5 class="appTitle">Advertising Apps</h5> <ul class="appsList"> <li class="mainAppList">ATEX</li> <li><a href="">Launch</a> <a href="">Info</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="appsHolderExpander"> <a href="" class="more">More <img src="/wps/PA_applicationsintros/./img/downArrow.png" /></a> <a href="" class="less">Less <img src="/wps/PA_applicationsintros/./img/upArrow.png" /></a> </div> </div> cheers in advance
