• Problem with floating divs in IE8

  I want to make two block stand side by side. In Opera, Chrome and Firefox I get the expected result with the code I use. But IE8 refuses to display it correctly. • Dependent Dropdowns with single class element

  I am trying to create multiple dependent dropdowns (selects) with a unique way. I want to restrict the use of selectors and want to achieve this by using a single class selectors on all SELECTs; by figuring out the SELECT that was changed by its index. Hence, the SELECT[i] that changed will change the SELECT[i+1] only (and not the previous ones like SELECT[i-1]). For html like this: <select class="someclass"> <option value="volvo">Volvo</option> <option value="saab">Saab</option> <option value="mercedes">Mercedes</option> <option value="audi">Audi</option> </select> <select class="someclass"> </select> <select class="someclass"> </select> where the SELECTs other than the first one will get something via AJAX. I see that the following Javascript gives me correct value of the correct SELECT and the value of i also corresponds to the correct SELECT. $(function() { $(".someclass").each(function(i) { $(this).change(function(x) { alert($(this).val() + i); }); }); }); Please note that I really want the minimum selector approach. I just cannot wrap my head around on how to approach this. Should I use Arrays? Like store all the SELECTS in an Array first and then select those? • How to access a field's value in an object using reflection

  My Question: How to overcome an IllegalAccessException to access the value of a an object's field using reflection. Expansion: I'm trying to learn about reflection to make some of my projects more generic. I'm running into an IllegalAccessException when trying to call field.getValue(object) to get the value of that field in that object. I can get the name and type just fine. If I change the declaration from private to public then this works fine. But in an effort to follow the "rules" of encapsulation I don't want to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!   I am trying to have a javascript object tree behave like a php associative array in the following way. var key1 = 'a'; var key2 = 'b'; var key3 = 'c'; var obj[key1][key2][key3] = 'd'; However, in javascript I believe you need to define each property/object pair individually, forming deeper leaves. • jquery events on input submit fields

  I have a problem with jquery submit button onclick and default event. What I want to do is replace an click event on submit button if it has one, and get an dialog box to show up, on clicking yes the dialog should start that default onclick event if submit button has one defined, if it hasn't than the default event should happen (button submits form), .submit() function does not work for me in any case cause I need to send this button also through a form and if button wasn't clicked .submit() sends form data without submit data. I am FINALLY ready to use only div, li, CSS for the layout, but my question is, what is the proper way to layout pages in VS2010?   I have a Scala data structure created with the following: List(Map[String, Anyref]("a" -> someFoo, "b" -> someBar)) I would like to implicitly convert it (using scala.collection.JavaConversions or scala.collection.JavaConverters) to a java.util.List<java.util.Map<String, Object>> to be passed the a Java method that expects the latter. Is this possible? • Right floated div within a liquid-width div. How do I get this to work?

  I have a div, within the div is a name in an <h4> tag (it's semantically correct with the layout) and a div with some values describing that <h4> value. I want the nested div to be on the right side, and the only way I can get this to work is a fixed-width container and float: right;. As you can guess, the object breaks when the value of the <h4> causes the nested div to overflow. I've tried min-width, but it ends up stretching to the maximum size of the div containing the container div.

• Semicolon in object variable name

  There's a common LDAP attribute called userCertificate;binary. It actually has a semi-colon in the attribute name. In ruby, I turn an LDAP entry into a OpenStruct object called 'struct'. struct.class = OpenStruct But of course ruby thinks it's an end-of-line character. ? struct.userCertificate;binary NameError: undefined local variable or method `binary' for main:Object from (irb):52 from :0 IRB knows that the local variable is there, because it gives me struct.userCertificate;binary from the tab auto-completion. I can also see the class variable when calling struct.methods on it. struct.methods = ... "send", "methods", "userCertificate;binary=", "hash", ... It's definitely there, I can see the contents if I print the whole variable to_s(). But how can I access the local variable when it has a semicolon in it? I have workarounds for this but I thought it was an interesting problem to post.

• how do I get a new line, after using float:left?

  What I am trying to do is have rows of images, 6 images in each row. Some of these images need to have another image floating on top of them (flush with the lower-right corner). I was able to get that to work from this thread: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/48474/how-do-i-position-one-image-on-top-of-another-in-html However, now I'm unable to get the new row after the 6th image. Neither <BR> or <P> create a new line. They simply push the next image down several pixels, but the image is still in the same line. It seems like the float style is interfering with the <BR> and/or <P>. I tried using different styles for the image that starts a new row, like float:none and display:block, but neither worked. The odd thing is that the new line starts after the 7th image. Here's what I'm using so far: <style type="text/css"> .containerdiv { float: left; position: relative; } .containerdivNewLine { float: none; display: block; position: relative; } .cornerimage { position: absolute; bottom: 0; right: 0; } </style> <div class="containerdiv"> <img border="0" height="188" src="myImg" width="133" /> <img class="cornerimage" height="140" src="imageOnTop" width="105" /> </div> For the 7th image, when I'm trying to start a new row, I'm simply replacing the 'containerdiv' class with 'containerdivNewLine'.

Here is my attempt: -elem = @tags[1] #{elem.name}#{link_to_remote image_tag('x.png'), :url => {:controller => 'questions', :action => 'remove_tag_from_cart'}, :with => {:tag_to_remove => :elem}} The :with clause isn't working correctly. The image does not even show up. If I take out the :with clause, then the link properly shows up and calls the method correctly, but I need the elem object in order to remove it from the cart. Suggestions?

  Hello, I'm having some trouble to find the best way to accomplish what I have in mind due to my inexperience. I have a class where I need to a vector of objects. So my first question will be: is there any problem having this: vector< AnyType container* and then on the constructor initialize it with new (and deleting it on the destructor)? Another question is: if this vector is going to store objects, shouldn't it be more like vector< AnyTipe* so they could be dynamically created? In that case how would I return an object from a method and how to avoid memory leaks (trying to use only STL)?

I'm working on an app that would display a remote html and use local images, so what I'm trying to do is download the HTML of the website and display it as a "local" page, that would have access to images in my bundle. For some reason I can't get initWithContentsOfURL to work. I checked all manuals and examples I could find and it seems that I'm doing it correctly, but the thing just won't work, returns null all the time. The same page loaded with NSURLRequest requestWithURL works fine. Appreciate your help! • SSIS web service task producing "object reference" error

  Our care management system uses a web service to import data. I've successfully executed one of its methods using soapUI, and now I want to replicate this with an SSIS 2008 web service task, but I'm running into a problem. I've created the "HTTP Connection Manager" successfully, and specified the location of the "WSDLFile", but when I go to the Input tab and select the Service from the dropdown (there is only one), I get an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error, and and the Method dropdown is empty. Any idea what this is trying to tell me?
