  • asp.net mvc jQuery $.post works but $.get doesn't

    Why would POST work but not GET? I'm not using [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)]. I'm calling this: public ActionResult GetTest(string key) { var test = new { HelpTest = key }; return Json(test); } And it works when I do this: $.post("/Home/GetTest", { key: options.key }, function(helpTest) { alert(helpTest.HelpTest); }); But not this: $.get("/Home/GetTest", { key: options.key }, function(helpTest) { alert(helpTest.HelpTest); }); Why would this be? Using GET returns an XMLHttpRequest.status of 500. What am I confused about?

    Hi, I don't understand why I'm not getting the message as "username already exits" if type the username which is already in database. If the username in a server, then it is returning the value as "1" otherwise empty, and despite of successfully getting the value from the server based on username is present or not, and assigning the value to variable "x", I'm unable to get message when I pass already exist username.     I am trying to retreive the stored value (div id) of an index stored in var "current" when it's div is clicked, so I can use it in a function to iterate through to the next index later. I want to store this stored value in a var so I can use it in a div show/hide function. my html is quite simple: <div class="gallerypreview" id="1"></div> <div class="gallerypreview" id="2"></div> <div class="gallerypreview" id="3"></div> my javascript is something like this: var images = new Array(); $(document).ready( function(){ $('.gallerypreview').each(function() { images.push($(this).attr("id")); }); $('.gallerypreview').click(function() { var current = $('.gallerypreview').index(this); }); }); how would I go about retrieving the div id from this clicked div? nothing I have tried has worked. I can get the index # fine, but I cannot find the value of the index using any functions that utilize the index # yet.

Now I am trying to attach a selector on one of the controls inside pageLoad(), problem being is that the modal container is initially set to visible=false.   • Does duplicate id's screw up jquery selectors?

    If I had two divs, both with id="myDiv" Would $("#myDiv").fadeOut(); fade both divs out? Or would it fade only the first/second? Or none at all? How do I change which one it fades out? Note: I know duplicate id's is against standards but I'm using the fancybox modal popup and it duplicates specified content on your page for the content of the popup. If anyone knows a way around this (maybe I'm using fancybox wrong) please let me know.

    I have a div with defined height, and overflow:scroll;. Its content is too long so scrollbars appear. Now for the ichy part. Some of its inner HTML strangely appears all the time (to be precise, the footer of a table generated by the tableFilter plugin). I'd like to make this footer disappear when it is not needed (it actually appears out of the containing <div>'s border). I resolved to make it disappear but setting its z-index to -1000. But I want to make it appear when the containing <div> is totally scrolled down. How can I know the user has scrolled at the bottom ? Using the help from answers below, I used scrollTop attribute but the difference between scrollTop and innerHeight is the size of the scrollbar plus some unidentified delta. A scrollbar is 16 pixels high in most browsers under Windows, but I get a difference of 17 in Firefox and something like 20 in IE, where my <div> content's borders seems to be rendered bigger. A way (actually two ways...) to compute the scrollbar size has been given there.

    Using easy slider to scroll through Images . It's working occasionally (on a refresh), but more often not. The height of the slide and also the position get screwed up on load for seconds. This style was applied to the style="width: 1308px; height: 70px; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: hidden;" I'm not sure where it's pulling those values from (height and width) the slide not expanding vertically to reveal the content and the slide being out of position horizontally. I have this style applied to #slider width:538px; height:auto; overflow:hidden; but they're not being passed correctly.

    Hi I have a simple span like so <span class="action removeAction">Remove</span> This span is within a table, each row has a remove span. And then I call a URL using AJAX when that span is clicked. The AJAX event needs to know the ID of the object for that row? What is the best way of getting that ID into the click function? I thought I could do something like this <span class="action removeAction" id="1">Remove</span> But an ID should not start with a number? Right? Then I thought I could do <span class="action removeAction" id="my1">Remove</span> Then just strip the 'my' part from the ID, but that just seems Yuk! Below is my click event and where my AJAX event is. <script type="text/javascript" language="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $(".removeAction").click(function() { //AJAX here that needs to know the ID } }); </script> I am sure there is a nice way of doing this?
