Hey!
Has anybody used a good obfuscator for PHP?, I've tried some but they dont work for very big projects. They can't handle variables that are included in one file and used in another, for instance.
Or do you have any other tricks for stopping the spread of your great code? :)
Basically I want the books to be text book based, ie, author discusses the background,philosophy,syntax,semtantix for every language AND after every section there are questions what you learned so far and mini projects. Is there any books like this, I'm absolutely new to php/mysql/javascript and web development in general. Thanks in advance.
Hi!
I think most of us know about the infamous "Headers already sent" error in PHP. Can I check someway if headers already have been sent?
It would be really handy to do such, before going all out with trying to set some SESSION data or similar.
Thanks!
I've bounced around between different wrappers, my own, and using straight php mysql functions over the years but I'm sure there's a really good solution out there. What is it? :)
EDIT: Only needs to connect to MYSQL and it would be nice if it was lightweight.
I am trying to use PHP to make a JSON file. Part of the code is as follow
$array = array("hello", "world");
$string='{"person": [
{
"name":'$array[0];',
"age":'$array[1];'
}
]
}';
The file created. However, $array[0] and $array[1] doesn't return the values "hello" and "world" but as $array[0] and $array[1]
Any idea?
Thanks
I'd like to learn PHP specifically for dealing with security vulnerabilities/exploits.
Could someone recommend a book?
I don't know if I need to learn HTML/CSS/XML/XHTML etc, do I have to learn those too? I don't really plan on designing websites, could anyone help me with this? :P
I'm trying to parse the dmoz content/structures xml files into mysql, but all existing scripts to do this are very old and don't work well. How can I go about opening a large (+1GB) xml file in php for parsing?
In my .htaccess file I need to turn on the following:
php_flag display_errors On
php_value error_reporting 2147483647
However I only want to do this if my IP is visiting the site.
Any ideas?
Something like...
if (ip == "x.x.x.x") {
php_flag display_errors On
php_value error_reporting 2147483647
}
Need to do this in .htaccess NOT in the PHP thanks!
I recently upgraded to PHP 5.3 and since then I get (sporadic) error messages which indicate Apache (or may be the cleaner of the session files) has no permissions to the folder where the sessions are stored.
This happens randomly and can't be reproduced with exact steps, which led me to guess it is the session cleaner.
Any one has experience with such errors?
I want to create a link like the following:
http://www.myurl.com/?IDHERE
What i want to be able to do is be able to goto the above link, and then pull whats after the ? (in this case IDHERE) and be able to use that information to perform a MySQL lookup and return a page.
Can anyone point me into the right direction? please know this is using PHP not ASP
So I was reading about PHP namespaces, and I realized that in versions earlier than 5.3, if you write
namespace MyNamespace
you get a parse error.
Is there any way to avoid this i.e. make namespaces backwards-compatible, so the code doesn't simply crash?
I have a website in which I have a several php forms that I would like to fill out with auto generated content (for the purposes of exercising different content the user could submit). I would like to write a client side application that enables me to do so.
Is there any way either using webtoolkit, java script etc of doing this?
Thank all for your help,

Hi, I'm just wondering how I can retrieve a specific value (only 1 thing will be returned) from a database using php.
My query is
mysql_query("SELECT balance FROM users WHERE username = '". $this->username . "'")
I'm just looking for it to retrieve the data from that row so I can save it directory into a variable.
Hi everyone,
Is_numeric() as well as is_int() returns false if the value is 0. What can i do instead to verify that a specific value is numbers only in PHP?
Are we heading straight for the Regular Expressions camp, or are there some nice, handy feature for this out there already?
Thanks!
I have to make a list of all possible permurations of 4characters A-Z,a-z,0-9 and conbination of all this.How can i pass thru all of the possible combinations and printf them ?

Hi,
I am storing images in mysql Db directly. what is the best way to display the image in good quality (thumbnail and original size images) using php.
i have studied design patterns and want to use them to code an open source library (not an application).
but i have never coded a library before and don't know where should i include files, should i have a bootstrap file that loads everything or should every class load their own classes they are dependent on etc.
are there any tutorials for writing libraries in php from start to finnish?
thanks
Hi,
I need some advice from experts :)
I will develop a website using PHP and I will use also MySQL. I bought some server space from a Virtual private server including all the service needed.
How should I develop the site? Shall I develop it on my machine at home (using for example Wamp), and when ready transfer all the files to the server? If so what is the best method to transfer also the database?
Thanks in advance!!
Is there a function in php wherein you can convert the number 12 to its equivalent in a month.
For example if the mysql database stores digits and not words for dates.
how do you convert the number 12 into the word december?
